Days Of Our Lives
DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Paul Flirts With Will! Sonny Is Upset Over His Marriage! Derrick Pops Up!

Courtesy/NBC
On Friday’s episode of NBC’s Days of our Lives as Will (Guy Wilson) is doing his exposé on pro baseball player Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) and is meeting up with him in the park, it becomes clear that Paul is seemingly flirting with Will, and remember prior to that Will took off his wedding ring for the meeting! Is Will intrigued by the guy? Or, just trying to set him up to get dirt for his story?
Meanwhile, Will’s hubby Sonny (Freddie Smith), who has been clearly thinking about his ex Paul and is very upset with Will for making little time for them and placing his career first, sends Will a text that it’s urgent about his daughter Arianna! Will ends his “interview” of Paul and says he has to head out.
Elsewhere, viewers got their first glimpse of Derrick played by Spencer Neville, when Nicole (Arianne Zucker) began her machinations to try to get into Serena’s (Melissa Archer) hotel room! So, will he figure into the storyline with Will/Sonny/Paul?
After the ump watch the scenes from yesterday’s DAYS courtesy of Tulsa Storm: including when Paul lets Theresa (Jen Lilley) down easy that there is someone else he is interested in, and he has to figure out where that stands before getting involved with anyone else!
Then weigh-in! What do you think of Paul and Will … are they going to hit the sheets? Are you rooting for Sonny and Paul at this point? Or, are you pissed that they the powers-that-be are messing with WilSon? And, is Derrick even part of this storyline equation? Let us know!
Send Will back to Hollywood and have a triangle with Sonny, Paul, and Derrick.
Sonny and Paul are hot and interesting enough without any third party interference 😉
There are enough challenges ahead for PaulSon, beginning with Paul’s difficult situation as a young gay baseball pro and all the conflicts and circumstances that have to be dealt with. Him being in the closet was THE reason why PaulSon had broken up in the first place.
Then there’s Sonny’s strong bond with Arianna that is never going to disappear and so on. A lot of interesting stories to be told!
And I really hope TPTB do that in an appropriate and compelling way. After the bad writing we’ve seen this whole year, I’m not so sure. Involving Theresa in Paul’s story has been a bad sign from the beginning. Will’s (and I mean the one and only Will Horton, played by Chandler Massey) coming out was written by writers that were in a totally different league.
I SO agree with this…the writing on DAYS has been horrid this year. The EJ and Sami exit was one of the most dissapointing things I have ever seen. I heard Corday, doesn’t listen to fan response, etc. After all Sami Brady had been through, she deserved a happy ending and they couldve had EJ fake his death and go on the run with Sami. I have followed Sami since I was in high school and her ending was horrible. She deserved love and in the end, it evaded her. There are way too many new characters on DAYS. And I do hope the writes handle this gay triangle appropriately, but I doubt it
It’s about time DAYS gets on board with temptation of the two gay residents of Salem. They rushed Will and Sonny into marriage with no concept of other men involved. I hope Will and Paul get it on. I hope Sonny finds another guy to get it on with too. Gay people are just as “sexual” as all the straight people. I think it would be a great idea to have one of the main straight characters like Chad or Ben or even Brady face an identity crisis. Imagine the hot love scenes with Brady or Ben with some gay character ……I am definitely down with the concept. Why do all the str8 boys get all the action?
Mateo, are you saying that married people, straight or gay, should cheat on each other? I’m confused. If men/women, gay or straight find it hard to be faithful or monogamous, then, they should not marry.
What happened? I thought Sonny and Will had such a great marriage, why did the writers have to go and spoil it?
And, no, married people have no business getting any ‘action’ outside of the conjugal bed. JMO.
I am not saying that any one should “cheat”. What I am saying is that the writers at Days chose to throw two people together and have them marry simply because there were no other “admittedly” gay companions to date and get to know. Everyone knows that str8 couples cheat on daytime every day of the week. Hope and Aiden, she is not divorced yet by the way, for example. Is she wrong for doing it? No she is responding to years of being ignored and forgotten for a choice in a career that her husband made. Yet she is measuring her options. Marriage is not a solution for two people sleeping together. Marriage is work and a choice and that needs to be explained in daytime. Sonny and Will seem made for each other but there is no one else for them to choose from. I have news for every one who is not familiar with the gay life, but there are other choices than just one guy. They are not such a great couple together. They are both selfish, petulant and needy. Hardly a good match for a marriage. So yes I think that Sonny exploring his choices with Paul is a smart idea. And when the conjugal bed goes without action for too long then with every breath in their being they should seek action where it is available. Sex is not a reward that you get when the other person feels like it. It is a healthy part of every relationship and when it is not there it can not be ignored just because you are “married”. We need to stop making sex the bad thing.
Okay, Mateo, LOL. Now I have a better understanding and agree with what you are purporting. When a married couple has grown apart, yes, he/she will gravitate elsewhere….that is a given. Nonetheless, it is still cheating. I suppose I am cut from a different cloth. I would be honest with my mate and speak out…separate; divorce….why sneak around? I could never cheat….I would feel as if I were also cheating on my kids. Silly, huh? But, I guess it also depends on the situation and the circumstances.
I wonder, Mateo, if the viewer would be more upset with Sonny if Will were being played by Chandler. The fact that nuWill is not well-received gives Sonny a free pass…JMO.
By the way? You are a great poster…..very descriptive and well written.
Happy Holidays.
Just not feeling Guy as Will. They could’ve recast before bringing the character back. Maybe I’ll just always think of Chandler as Will
I was so hoping they were going to recast Will. Guy is awful as Will.
So, while I did like Chandler in the role of Will, I definitely don’t miss him. I’m probably in the minority here… but I really love Guy’s version of Will. He’s been on the canvas for nearly a year, and he’s a very strong actor, and for me, I see great chemistry with him and Freddie Smith.
I love this article, but I think Derrick has been in a couple of episodes already? Subtly flirting with Paul in his hotel room.
Looking forward to seeing where this all going. Further than the GH Lucas/Brad/Felix love triangle hopefully..
Yeah, the Lucas/Brad/Felix triangle was totally disappointing. Hopefully, DAYS will be on top. 🙂
Why does everyone end up in the park…lol…Paul is Sonnys ex boyfriend who hits on Sonnys husband…he hits on Jordon…Theresa attracted to him…at least Danial isnt a part of it…or wait…he was Pauls Doc…lol…Days is just ok for me…nothing exciting to keep me watching everday!!!
Could not have said it better myself, jimh. I really do not look forward to watching Days anymore. For a second I thought Theresa would have been redeemed. But, she is still the same gold digger, and dirty player at heart. I suppose the catastrophes happening to her and around her have not taught her a thing. One would think that because she lost Brady (the one guy she really loved, in my opinion) due to her deception, her life would walk down a different and more responsible path. I guess, as the cliche’ goes….a leopard never changes its spots.
Too bad…I really like Theresa…i still hope for her to come around.
Well someone along the way is going to out Paul to the press. It could be this Derrick guy, or Will. It might be Theresa. But whoever it is, Paul will be turning to Sonny to deal with it.
derricks already been on the show a couple of times going up to pauls room, paul was resisting him while derrick looked to be equally intrested!!
spencer neville and christopher would be so hot together. will and his lame reporter persona can go back to l.a and take sonny with him.
Yeah, I thought it was the same guy.
No nothing zero will happen with Paul/Will.Way too much buildup ,hot chemistry, feelings for #PaulSon they have history and their feelings for each other are starting to show.Paul is desperate to get Sonny and in my option he knows Will is the husband and his just playing him.To have Will sleep Paul and for Paul to do that .Then he has no chance to be with Sonny.Sonny would hate them both .And the show making us love Paul and Sonny together by doing that ruins everything they been doing it would be shitty
“…And the show making us love Paul and Sonny together by doing that ruins everything ”
Puhlease : DAYS : Sony : NBC
catapult what’s working…. a slow build… drama unfold… WITH will + Paul and Sonny
this is dynamic treat
Freddie Smith deserves limelight and share of screen time to showcase his reel
Sonny and Paul for the win… so much more presence than nuWill and Sonny
it’s all a win a coop to feature
I agree. It seems that Paul plays dirt, just as Theresa. I do not like him for that…there’s something very creepy about him….devious. I think Sonny was caught
Sorry…to continue…Sonny got caught up in the moment (which is a lame excuse to cheat on one’s husband)…. He is so open and honest, and for Paul to take advantage of Sonny’s marital situation is not cool. Bah, Humbug!
I just hope these writers are not stupid enough to have Paul and Will sleep together. The story would become pointless to me than. Now we have two viable ships. PaulSon and WilSon and a real potential love triangle. If PILL happens, we are left with two nonviable ships. Why would I root for Will if Will adds being a adulterer to his jerk behavior toward Sonny. WilSon will be dead to me than. Why would I root for Sonny to get with the man who his husband cheated with. PaulSon would also be dead to me. If PILL happens, Sonny would look like desperate and pathetic if he ends up with either. The only thing to root for in that case is free Sonny. The only cheating I can sympathize with is if Sonny does it.
BRAVO I 100 percent agree with whole comment .Days writers please read these comments
Let’s hope TPTB realized in the course of this year what they could have seen from the beginning if they’d opened their eyes:
NuWilSon don’t have chemistry, no real intimacy and Sonny (Freddie) didn’t shine like he did with OriginalWill (Chandler). Now he’s had instant chemistry with Paul (Chris) and this pairing has already created a huge excitement that is all over the web.
The only thing that makes sense:
Shift the focus from Sonny and NuWill to Sonny and Paul!!
“…this pairing has already created a huge excitement that is all over the web ”
i’m gobsmacked and pulled over with Freddy Smith and Christopher Sean
and thats marquee : Sonny and Paul
I agree with part of your comment. NuWill is not a good fit for Sonny or anyone. Call me shallow, but, nuWill is so insipid and so not-attractive. Call me shallow, but it is a reality. He has no looks, he has no true character and he’s not endearing. Freddie is a looker and Chandler is absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous. Sometimes, as superficial as it seems, looks matter.
Paul is not a good person if he needs to manipulate people to get what he wants. Sonny deserves better.
I have a feeling Paul is going to ask Derrick to flirt with Will and set him up to make it look like Derrick and Will had an affair. Then Sonny would turn to Paul for comfort. Paul is not going to sleep with Will because that would make Sonny upset with Paul.
THIS IS SO TRUE 🙂 i hope PAULOSN 🙂
PAULSON
TPTB must be blind if they don’t see where the amazing chemistry and great acting is: Sonny and Paul!!
It already showed in the ratings last week: Best day of the week was Tuesday when the episode opened with Sonny and then Sonny and Paul (together) were front and center.
Ratings dropped big time on Thursday when NuWill returned from LA and we didn’t get to see Paul and Sonny together.
It’s been obvious this whole year that while the original version of WilSon generated huge excitement and contributed significantly to the ratings highs DAYS hit several times in 2013, we’ve seen nothing like that with NuWilSon this whole year.
Hopefully, it won’t take TPTB another year to see what’s working and not.
It’s great to have three major gay characters on the show, but the new version of Will should be taken into a different direction, having him focus on his career and meet other guys, while the “couple” focus should be on Sonny and Paul and the challenges they have to face to be together again (Paul’s story as a gay pro baseball player is extremely relevant and timely) and afterwards!!!!
Go PaulSon!!!!
iam with you….PAULSON 🙂
Sonny andWill should say loyal yo eachother
I think Derrick is undercover for the publishers will works for
We need a new Will. I have fallen out of love with the character since Guy took over. I gave him a chance to win we over. I feel no chemistry between Will and Sonny. I don’t care about their stories because I don’t like nuWill. I like Sonny more now.
“…I gave him a chance to win we over. I feel no chemistry between Will and Sonny ”
I am so with you on this…. I’ve tried as well
Paul and Sonny are proof that even the original CM’ Will , would be a boon… but is not even necessary for this coming of age coupling
Sonny with Paul to pique interest
Guy Wilson back to LA to be with his mother
These things can take time, recasting can be tricky. It took me well over a year to accept the new Lulu on GH, many fans expressed similar feelings too, but now she IS Lulu to me. With Guy as Will, I accepted him very early on, he gave us a more serious side to Will, a Will that seems more grown up, I like Guy Wilson as Will. Look, this is a business, actors come and go and sometimes return. Guy is doing a fine job giving us his interpretation of who Will Horton is now.
Chandler was a fantastic Will but even he “was not” the original Will. Christopher Gerse played Will coming into an adult. After was Dylan Patton, then Chandler. The thing about Chandler though he became “the most likeable” Will. I actually don’t mind Guy but do miss Chandler. However this triangle plays out there will be somehow cheating and lies–that’s soapland and that’s Days which I nicknamed some time ago “Days of Our Lies”. The story I don’t like is the JJ sleeping with Eve and they’re going to do it AGAIN this week! Afterwards JJ is going to break up with Paige. I watch the show every day regardless how the stories play out.
Great post, John.
Stopped watching DOOL. Please do not take this the wrong way-but I can’t stomach this storyline. It’s just too nauseating. I think it is mostly because I can’t stand “nuWill.” It’s not only the change in the character, or the material-it’s the actor. He’s just never grown on me. Paul-UGH, so cheesy-IMO.
I agree with the idea of throwing a roadblock at Sonny and Will, every couple has problems….but everything on this show is soooo drawn out….and frankly, I fast forward through Melanie and this new Serena, yesterday’s episode was a gigantic yawn-fest. Four of the dullest people ever having Pizza at Daniel’s apartment, whoop dee do. They need to spice up the writing and I don’t mean more bedroom scenes but just, for cryin’ out loud PICK UP the pace.
Days gives Will/Chan the thrill of having an ideal first love, and Sonny is a great first love…but alas, the clay feet will gather dust, and Will’s lust Will wither as Fall turns to Winter. Sonny has been the this before, Will is too good to be true, and true to form Will tires of the same-old, same old…while Paul has been tested, the Hunk returns with a refreshing intensity, only diluted by his his own need for adoration: as long as Sonny resists, the Hunk will pitch his superb curves, Will should dip his wick with the pitcher, and slug it out for who gets Paul.Paul Will not have the staying power when the game goes into overtime: he needs the mound as plinth for his beauty. Paul needs Will as conquest to stir Sonny’s jealousy: why Will was tossed onto the scrap heap of Hollywood? me thinks he doth protest his purity much too much…when Will bits Paul’s apple…well u all know how that…….ends up!
