DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Nicole Gives Birth to a Baby Boy, as Dimitri Initiates a Heartbreaking Switch

One of the oldest and most upsetting soap opera tropes was utilized on Monday’s episode of Peacock’s Days of our Lives, but with a twist. Baby switches are common place in this genre, and watching as a mother grieves for her newborn, while there is no evidence she even had the child.

Now, as has been teased for week’s DAYS, Nicole Walker DiMera (Arianne Zucker) gave birth on the side of a road after a car crash between her, and on the run Dimitri (Peter Porte) and Leo (Greg Rikaart). Meanwhile, Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) who for some odd reason is just so hell-bent on finding her friend, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty), a baby at all costs, is telling her that the deal she arranged with a mother fell-through after the mother learned that Sloan, with her questionable bad ethical background would raise her child.

At the side of the road, Leo jumps into action against the wishes of Dimitri, who is panicked they need to get to Rolf’s submarine on time. (Yes, you read that right).  Leo helps Nicole deliver her baby after her water breaks.  Leo is very proud of himself and this good deed he has done, bringing Nicole’s new son into this world.  Of course, Nicole just had Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) baby, not EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel).

When word spreads of the accident, Eric takes off to find Nicole.  Meanwhile, Sloan and Melinda are going back and forth on finding a baby for Sloan.  Realizing it’s not going to happen, Sloan tells Melinda she is going to come clean to Eric and tell him Nicole is carrying his child. Melinda cautions her not to do that as she will lose Eric as he will go running so fast to Nicole if he found that out.

At the roadside, Nicole needs help getting to the hospital, but she can’t be moved and her newborn son needs to be checked out.  Leo decides he will stay with Nicole till the ambulance arrives, while Dimitri will take the baby to the hospital. Sadly, the baby is taken out of Nicole’s arms, for what will be probably a very long time on the soaps.

Next, Eric finds Nicole, and Leo bolts. Nicole tells a confused Eric that she had her baby.  Of course, there is no trace of the little bundle of joy. As Melinda and Sloan bicker, there is a knock at the apartment door. It’s none other than Dimitri looking duplicitous, appearing as if he is about to hand Nicole’s baby off to Sloan.

What do you think of this baby switch storyline? Is it infuriating you? What do you think will happen next? We predict nobody will believe Nicole and they will tell her she lost her baby. Meanwhile, Sloan will take Nicole’s little one to raise as her own. Share your thoughts in the comment section. For more on the story, check out our recent interview with Peter Porte and Greg Rikaart at Days of  Days 2023, and this week’s promo for the action on DAYS beloe.

Please, not again, kinda getting tired of the same ole story, not sure about anyone else, same story on repeat… kinda throws a rock in the last of soaps worth watching

Idk why they cant just let Eric and Nicole be happy.

Love Days and Dimitri and leo

While I am glad that Eric finally has a child of his own, I hate that it’s with Nicole. I have been watching since she was first introduced and this will be an interesting route for the show to take. I can’t wait to see how Sami reacts to her most hated rival having given birth to her nephew, thereby cementing Nicole in Eric’s life forever!

Although I like the actors involved, I am uneasy anytime there is a baby switch…

Let’s see how farfetched this storyline becomes… Perhaps it will be revealed that the baby is neither Eric’s nor E.J.’s, but sired by the late Victor who, unbeknownst to Nicole (or virtually anyone else) wanted to get revenge on his ex-wife by having a baby with her — it’s complicated, but it’s Victor — so he simply enlisted Dr. Rolfe to implant an egg (fertilized by Victor) into Nicole — details don’t really matter as Dr. Rolfe can work wonders — and in secret.

The child’s biological mother is actually not known at this time and will be named later, once there is a need for a custody battle. (The mother undoubtedly will be played by an actress who previously played another character.) Then a codicil to Victor’s will turns up, which shows that neither Alex nor Xander, but this baby, delivered by Nicole, will be Victor’s true heir and thus inherit 50% of Victor’s estate. Together, Theresa and Sloane will discover the codicil and team up to keep the truth from everyone.

Meanwhile, when Eric learns of everyone’s deceit, he runs into Leo in the park and takes it out on Leo by roughing him up. Leo enjoys it at first, until he falls back, hits his head, and goes unconscious. Nicole sees the tail end of the altercation, argues with Eric who leaves in a huff. Leo wakes up to find Nicole tending to him. Leo has amnesia and doesn’t remember being gay, but he thinks he’s in love with Nicole…. 🙂

I agree to a point about tired soap plots but I watch soaps for the characters not the stories necessarily. Erika Slezak had a great answer about silly plots: “they’re only so many stories to tell”.

How stupid ? The baby is a preemie and still not at the hospital. No one has bought anything to feed or dress the baby . The cord still there . And we adults are watching this as if it could be . They have brought the dead back but this is baby abuse .‍♀️.

Nicole encouraged Jada to abort Eric’s kid and now we are supposed to root for Nicole and Eric and their son. No offense but can’t do it. Eric deserves a kid but team Sloane for ne.

What is with the writers of this show?? This story line is boring! Been there seen that! Come up with something different. Why does everything have to do with subterfuge, switching babies, and lying to spouses! So tired of viewing the same sh_t, different day. Maybe if a character took the high road once in a while it might be refreshing and worthy to watch!

This really getting old. Need new writers. This is why people turn away from watching. Same thing over over over again. Not this same old storyline. They take to long.

So sick and tired of the same stupid story. Gets pregnant, gives birth in a serious scenario. Either mom or baby almost dies and there is a baby switch mom thinks baby is dead. Mom sees or holds baby and has instant connection doesn’t know why and some dumb dramatic reason reveals the DNA of baby. So stupid like write something else! Same story different characters. It’s every other few months. Sometimes giving the audience a happy ending right away is not a bad thing and maybe could help the shows increase of viewing. People got sick and quit watching. Some have come back after years and it’s the Same old story like
They never stopped watching.

It IS infuriating! I hate the storyline, and it’s beyond cruel even for a soap opera story!!

AGREED:

Please, not again, kinda getting tired of the same ole story, not sure about anyone else, same story on repeat… kinda throws a rock in the last of soaps worth watching….

I hate the baby still from Nicole. The writers need allow for her and Eric to be happy!

Team Sloane all the way. I love her!

It’s always the same with those babies on days, they having babies by other men don’t tell him or chang the dna or kidnapped the babies or don’t tell he is the father let someone else think it’s his, I really feel for Ej, I think they should had made it where Ej is the baby not eric, gave Ej a break he deserves happiness too,as long as I been watching days every one that was having a baby that baby was someone else’s not the person it supposed to belong to, always a different daddy or they lied about who the daddy was or the dna, days is really really getting boring with the same ole same ole stuff about these babies and who the daddy is, and then there’s Alex thinking he is Victors son from a big lie that, that so called friend of Victors and Brady’s ex had lied about and seamed up, when is it gonna stop and the truth come out, and there’s Stephan he makes me really sick, the writer’s need to end all this and write some new drama this is all getting old and boring

I think this is the worst storyline ever. How cruel to take Micoles baby and then let her think he died. Awful just Awful
You need to get her baby back to her fast

Where is the baby’s dead body? Why doesn’t Nicole and EJ want to see their dead baby don’t they have to have a funeral people lose babies everyday and they want to see the baby after they die if the baby was old enough to be practically fully formed. So how stupid are we supposed to be to see that they don’t have enough sense just to see their baby after the baby died like people don’t do that what is wrong with Days of our lives I think I am going to have to give them up there just too stupid for me but I never had to go through the whole Marlena and devil crap and the stupid Marlena and Kate and going to heaven that I couldn’t wait to get past it was so grueling now this stupid plot anybody can write for Days of our lives I can write for Days of our lives and come up with better stories than this.

Sami can set her A** down love her but I think Eric&Nicole belong together after all the year want to be together.
