Get out more hankies! If you have not watched Monday’s episode of Days of our Lives you are in for more tears when Patch (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) come upon the scene, and help poor Hope (Kristian Alfonso) cope with the sudden death of their beloved Bo Brady (Peter Reckell)

For decades, Stephen Nichols has played Peter Reckell’s on-screen best buddy, best friend, trusted confidante.  Patch and Bo two went to hell and back together as characters on the DAYS canvas.

Late this afternoon, Nichols took to his facebook page and posted a very heart-tugging message to Peter Reckell which simply said:  “Goodbye Pete. We have laughed, fought, rescued, loved and grown together. It has been a glorious journey. Glad we shared it! Love you, Bro   Stephen”

In addition, Peter Reckell responded to seeing the post via Twitter and sent out a tweet to Nichols simply saying: “Love you!”   What did you think about the sentiments shared by Stgephen Nichols and the enduring on-screeen friendship of Patch and Bo? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Everyone needs a best friend like that.

Yes, how lovely that the two actors are great friends still. That’s what I’m talking about!

I agree Nancy. Nice to see that two guys are buddies off-screen too!

Love Peter Reckell and Steven Nichols they are both awesome actors I love them as Bo and Steve I’m going to miss Peter Reckell I wish it were different I wish he would stay but I understand family comes first I wish him the best luv u Peter Reckell

They also played longtime brothers-in-law, which filled their friendship with “Sweetness!”

What you said, 4ever. It also warms the heart when I see good grammar…..you wrote, the correct plural form: “brothers-in-law” and not, “brother-in-laws or law’s” which indicates possession. Happy Thanksgiving.

I ain’t got no good grammar all the time, CeeCee, but of course my opening words are a joke, which contain a “double negative.”

I do OK, but it somehow seems fitting to tell you I was an average student…C after C…C,C,C. You see what I mean, CeeCee? LOL!

I will try not to get too full, but I know some people think I’m already full of it. lol

Happy Thanksgiving, CeeCee!

Such a cool bromance off and on screen!

I love Stephen Nichols! I first saw him as Stefan Cassadine on General Hospital and he instantly became my favorite. Now I am watching him as Patch and can’t get over how wonderful he is. What a touching tribute he wrote to Peter…..

when i saw stephen nichols cry yesterday that is when i cried…………………

Through the sadness of the loss of Bo it has been wonderful to see such great writing and acting for this 50th anniversary . I praise the writers for the intelligence and realism of the writing . I hadn’t seen Days of our lives deliver such quality in a very long time . I encourage these writers to keep up this good work , to make it even better . Nice to see Days of our Lives heading in the right direction again . Time for you all to tune back into the show .This is the soap to watch right now . Far better than Young and the restless and the bold and the beautiful . You can give these two a bit of a miss .

Ditto, Nicholas!

When we discuss daytime legends, Stephen Nichols has to be in the conversation. As I read this story it occurred to me again, how many actors on daytime can walk into THREE of the four soaps and be a major character instantly? I loved that he is back at Days BUT he could have easily been brought back to GH or Y&R and made a major impact! Much respect Stephen!

I love Patch as well, Timmm. I don’t know how long he will stay, but I will enjoy every moment. I saw true friendship there, between Peter and Steve. Those were true and raw emotions. I cannot say enough about Days. All of these thespians outdid themselves. So professional…so in character.
And, I agree, Steve does make an instant impact and connection with his audience.
Happy Thanksgiving, Timmm. God Bless.

God Bless you as well CeeCee and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your wonderful family!

“… how many actors on daytime can walk into THREE of the four soaps and be a major character ”

Nicely, said

“is it fair to say? I can’t even think of any other male actor who has even done two? unless it’s their evil twin, return from the dead, or doppelanger? ”

I usually associate this only happening to the women. Thank God for that!

so… this is a major coop to know Steven Nichols is in an arena all his own

i will miss peter reckell he hope steve and kayla were to me the best couples in the history of days of our lives their on screen chemistry was amazeing may god bless you mr reckell in whatever path you choose

It was sad seeing Patch say goodbye to his longtime friend. And now Steve has gone to tell Victor. Victor will be devastated.

As I watched Friday and Monday’s episodes, I thought that I was glad Steve isn’t dying.

Please don’t give the new writers any more ideas!

More beautifully acted and written scenes. I think having Steve back is the hero that has been missing from the show. I also think Chad has the potential to be another one. I have not loved this show this much in years. Excellent work Mary Beth, Stephen and to the show’s MVP, Kristian.

I also thought Rob Scott Wilson’s (Ben) acting yesterday was amazing. After he found the phone and realized Abigail tried to text Chad, his intensity was amazing. His rage and ranting induced goosebumps.

Brother, Hope hasn’t had a real great time of it lately has she. First she’s married, then almost strangled to death, then put it in Hospital bed in her own gown (?) then she finds out her daughter is now an adult, then she tells Chase he can still live with them even though his father tried to kill her, then Bo comes back, then Bo explains he has a brain tumor, then he dies in her arms in Fake Leaf Park. Geez. If anyone has a Xanax, save one for Hope.

Male friendships on soaps are rare and the friendship between the character Bo and Steve on Days was of the best ones ever done. Considering neither of these two men have acted with each other in years, it was nice to see them just pick up where they left off without missing a beat. Not only did Bope fans get some closure, but so did these two characters, which I think SN was conveying in his tweet–

Peter Reckell is so great as Bo I just loved him! Bo and Hope were one of the absolute best couples in daytime history!

Will stop watching days after today’s episode…I have watched this show with my fiancé mother, my mother as well..in fact the day they killed Bo was the same date my mother passed on a few years…This is a holiday episode…not…Hope this soap is cancelled in 2016.

Patch and Steve are The most Iconic male partnerships beside Robert Scorpio and Luke Spencer. Two toughies with charm heart and soul. Its a shame Soaps don’t write duos (super couples of any sort) the way they once did.

You mean Steve “Patch” and Bo.

I will always love the character of Bo Brady played beautifully by Peter Reckell. Love him since the day he began on Days. I was in high school.

The friendship and bond built between Bo and Patch is really unmatched. Just as exciting in last month’s as it was in 80s. Stephen Nichols is a superb actor. It was perfect that he goes out to find Bo and bring him home.

Days dragged the rescue and the longest trip home to Salem over three months was frustrating. Now, in last 2 weeks – we had farmworkers and interactions with Peter and some of the key characters. I wish had not ended so abruptly. But left to me – Bo would have never left Salem USA.

Don’t want to see Bo’s stories to end. But many thanks to Peter Reckell for decades of heartfelt and quality performances. Godspeed to Peter in all he does. Condolences to all Long-time Days fans who will always miss “their” Bo.

Love spellchecker – I typed reunions and interactions – not farmworkers

The fact that us fans have related so completely to Bo, Hope, Steve, Kayla etc is that they are so great actors! What a combo, kudos to Days writers!

Great actors! Days needs to keep our Patchman up front where he belongs!

Geez, just watched the “funeral” of Bo – if you could call it that! And why are the funerals in Salem always outside? The writing on this show is SO off its mark, will be surprised if it lasts much longer. Hope’s weirdness is becoming stale as well.
