Disney-ABC has decided to go with a new syndicated talker for its upcoming 2015 daytime television season! This time it will be none other than Tyra Banks returning to daytime with a brand new show that will featuring Banks fielding a team of lifestyle experts as they tackle a range of topics – from fashion and beauty to home and entertaining to empowerment and individual enterprise – and will offer a cross-platform experience incorporating Banks’ social media reach of more than 28 million followers across all platforms. Broadcast from Los Angeles, the show will feature celebrities, popular web personalities, experts and everyday people as guests.

According to Deadline.com, the show is yet unnamed and will be taken out to stations shortly. There are no agreements in place, but it is conceivable, given Disney-ABC’s close relationship with the ABC owned & operated stations, that they would be a leading candidate. The stations will have a vacancy this fall, following the end of another Disney-ABC syndicated daytime talk show, Katie, and most stations have not made long-tern commitment for the hour, keeping it available for a new talker.

This marks the first major syndicated show green light for Lisa Hackner, who joined ABC as EVP, Daytime & Syndicated programming in October after a long stint at Telepictures. While at Telepictures, Hackner developed Banks’ first syndicated daytime talker, The Tyra Banks Show, which ran for five seasons and earned Banks a Daytime Emmy. ‘Tyra is truly unique in that she is both aspirational and extremely relatable to women of all ages, Hackner said. ‘With an extraordinary social media following and legions of fans built over her years on television, Tyra is more relevant than ever.”’

So, what do you think of a new Tyra talker in 2015? More interested in that than Katie Couric?  Does Tyra’s show sound like a cross between the failed Revolution, the former Tyra Banks Show, with some added celebrity pizazz?  Weigh-in!

Tyra had a talk show from 2005 to 2010, she was very popular. She decided to quit her talk show. I wish her luck, but I predict Gh will be cancelled in 2015, I hope that I’m wrong.

Okaaaay? I am a woman and find her in no way “relatable” or “relevant”. Toss this one on the pile of doomed & failed talk shows before it airs. Sorry to her “legion of fans” but this has tired re-tread written all over it.

MBmomof3…WELL SAID!!!!! I agree. Back in the day, 5 years of Tyra Banks (and her talk show) was quite enough!!!!! Also, these new talk shows popping up is getting ridiculous…and getting W-A-Y out of hand. Bottom Line Here: Put this one out of it’s misery…before the misery even begins…LOL!!!!!

Case closed.

Ugh! I want my soaps back!!

Me too.

Agree 100%.

That’s great for Tyra Banks and i hope her new talk show is a success.

Great, another talk show I’m not interested in and won’t watch. Can’t believe how much I used to watch ABC (including its daytime lineup) and how little I watch now. Let’s see, there’s GH…Agents of Shield…hmm, guess that’s it.

Since no one will watch more ABC talk shows, she needs all the luck she can get. Another one bites the dust.

Not interested in another talk show. It will fail like all the rest.

Just what we needed…another talk show! I like Tyra Banks but i dont like talk shows and rarely watch them, so no thanks!

She doesn’t do anything for me. I just hope it doesn’t mean GH will be cancelled.

I’m with you @Becky…Two models stand before me………………(long pause) and I only have…………..(long pause)……one picture. So who is it………….(long pause)….commercial……(still pausing) after the commercial….UGHHH AND EGADS!!! Of all the talking heads in the world they pick THIS….

Just what we all need another talk/lifestyle/entertainment show! When is ABC/D going to realize that daytime television is saturated with these type of shows? Bring back Love In The Afternoon!!!!

This is a turrible, turrible idea. Her last talk show was awful.

LOU her talk show was on for 5 years, she decided to walk away and do other things. Tyra was a hit talk show, this mean that general hospital will be cancelled in 2015, that’s ok with me. ABC wants out of the soap business.

How did you get from Tyra Banks getting a talk show to GH being cancelled?Plus it doesn’t sound like you are a fan of GH if you want it cancelled.Back to Tyra Banks new talk show i’m thinking it’ll just replace Katie Couric’s show when it ends

People said GH would be cancelled by the end of 2013 and yet it is still here…does abc really want to cancel it or are you hoping it happens so you can say i told you so…im not being mean or anything but you seem to want it cancelled just to prove a point!!! just sayin’

Let me put it to you this way. Her topics were so stupid and over the top. Gay teen exorcism and my bondonkadonk is bigger than yours here we come.

I do not watch talk shows, I do not have time to listen to that junk ..

Instead of another stupid talk show they should consider bringing back a combination of ALL MY CHILDREN and One Life. They could call it LANDVIEW or call it Pine Valley – if they ever get the rights back to these iconic soaps, that is what they should do, even if they have to present it as a half-hour intro to their current soap hit, General Hospital. But no, they will probably try another inane talk show and it will most likely hit a sour note with viewers who would rather have their soaps back.

No more talk shows! They messed up when they cancelled OLTL and AMC I would take reruns of them over a new talk show!

I know a lot of AMC and OLTL fans would love to see some version of their former soap on air again, but what with all the legal issues still to be settle with PP I doubt that will happen or at all— personally I would love to see a new soap– something new, something created from scratch— two half hour soaps to give us some more variety in the genre, but as much as I would like that I don’t see this or any network investing in new soaps any time soon …. sigh.

Well there are talented actors out there from the two previous soaps who would be great in blended shows or a new concept.
Erica Slezak is one, certainly Robin Strasser is another who comes to mind. It’s just pitiful the way Prospect Park totally mishandled everything.
But, I am afraid to say that I agree with you Mary, as far as ABC investing in a new Soap…all we can do is hope for the best.

ABC…the network that never learns from it’s mistakes.

Right on, if they cancel GH for this I will never watch the network again.

This sounds exactly like Katie no 2. She does exactly what they say this will be. Wow exactly what we need ,another talk show. NOT. Nothing against Tara Banks but I won’t be watching .ABC thinks we are stupid. beating this dead horse. How much money do they think they will save if no one watches.

The last thing this world needs is someone else jabbering away about nothing.

ABC should stand for another boneheaded choice.

Another talk show?
With another obnoxious host?
Give me a fuckin” break!
Haven’t these stupid execs figured out by now that we don’t want another talk show? What the hell is Tyra going to talk about that will appeal to the masses?
She’s got nothin’ to say that I want to hear!

Yawn. I was just thinking while I was watching Y&R today how I used to watch ABC all the time. Modern Family is the only thing I watch on ABC and I am getting bored with it. Don’t think it will succeed but I didn’t think the Chew would still be here. Talk shows are so boring.

I agree Talk show are boring, Guess for the new generation that need someone to talk to them.

Another original idea from ABC. I have no interest in talk shows. ABC – you remain dead to me since OLTL was cancelled. It certainly seems like they definitely want out of the soap business. I think that Tyra has been overexposed on TV just like Katie. The audience may be sick of her also.

If ABC decides to have a talk show, they surely pick a great host..Tyra really has a screen presence that is second to none and her abilities interviewing are actually great.

It is safe to say now, that daytime soaps are never going to get that rebirth we were hoping for..CBS highly rated soaps will continue for more years..It seems DOOL is not going to get more than 2 years after this one..And GH, maybe 2 or 3 years.

It is an end of an era..No matter how much we want to sugar coated…Personally, all my favorites have been cancelled over the last 5 years, so I am ready..Thank god for YouTube, where I can watch my old favorites!

Looks like ABC is inlove with failure. I don’t get their penchant for repeating their same ole mistakes. Yawn . Don’t they realize the ratings bonanza they are sitting on if they just revived One Life and All My Kids??

Why revive a lame, tabloid talk show that was cancelled by another network several years ago?? ABC is desperate.

Tyra Banks must hate General Hospital. She’s another soap killer. I no longer like her.

I don’t blame Tyra Banks for trying to have a another talk show.Plus i don’t think it’s going to replace GH in the schedule.

I won’t be watching it at all, I hate talk shows! I guess I will continue boycotting ABC Daytime! I don’t watch ABC prime time neither. (3 yrs ) I support only one show on ABC and that is General Hospital.. No! to Talk, Talk and No more Talk shows.

And just like soap fan’s boycotted Katie, let’s stand together and get this one cancelled. We will continue boycotting talk shows until we get our soaps back.

I watched an episode of Katie this week (a rerun of the Murphy Brown tv cast reunion). I think Katie got cancelled because it was an awful show–no one watching. She talks and talks and talks with her long, drawn-out questions and the guests barely get time to answer the questions. Also, too many of her questions begin by involving Katie (her opinion of Murphy Brown, how the character influenced her tv news career, her lame appearance on Murphy Brown back in the day, etc., etc.). Good riddance.

I read the comments and I’m amazed how many people are still in denial about soaps dying off, they are not coming back. The Tyra show will be syndicated, it is not a network show. I have no opinion one way or the other about Tyra. In any event, talk shows are inexpensive to produce and if they get a hit show they make big bucks. The Chew is making lots of money, it’s not a bad show.

The chew not a bad show – are you crazy. Where’s the plot, where’s the villian, and most of all – who cares!

The Chew is doing quite well, daytime dramas are too expensive to produce and too few viewers. I’m not crazy and the networks are not crazy for canceling so many soaps.

hope you enjoy the drivel that these talk shows are producing..

Isn’t Meredith Viera’s talk show supposed to start in the Fall? I’d rather see her take over Katie’s time slot than Tyra.

Who is Tyra Banks and why will she have a show?

Oh, of course, it’s ABC, the network that decided it was a good idea to televise garbage after cancelling OLTL and AMC. I’d say the Three Stooges ran the network but that would be an insult to the Three Stooges.

Ok ABC – now that you officially don’t care about soaps and those lost viewers…
sell the rights to someone who does.

CBS could expand their lineup, because soaps have proven to be successful there.

Right now Prospect Park owns the rights to AMC and OLTL.So ABC can’t bring them back until that is resolved.Plus as far as i know Tyra Banks new show isn’t replacing GH but Katie Couric’s show.

I don’t think Tyra’s show begins until 2015.. Like Katie it will be syndicated and any station can buy it.

CBS canceled soaps too. They will not be expanding their soap lineup. ABC is not bringing back soaps either.

Not another talk show. Really tired of them and reality shows. Leave what is on abc daytime now. ABC finally has a decent line up now. Plus love general hospital only soap left. Tyra Banks has had her time enough is enough of her.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
