So it is official.  Nathalie Kelley will not be returning to season 2 of CW’s Dynasty.  The actress revealed it herself in an interview with E! News that shocked fans of the show, but at that time there was no official comment from the show. Now we know why!

This morning at the CW’s executive session at the TCA summer press tour, it was revealed that Kelley’s exit is all part of a soapy twist!

In story, Cristal was last seen in the season finale of season one in dire circumstances… she was shot, and then trapped in fire.  Enter telenovela star, Ana Brenda Contreras who is joining the cast for season 2 as the real Cristal Flores! .

CW president Mark Pedowitz shared as to the reason for the recast: “It’s a wild soap, these are things you do on a soap.”  He said the decision to reveal a different Cristal was made last midseason.

Pedowitz also noted: “We have plans for other characters too.  (Showrunner) Sallie (Patrick) has fun twist and turns in store.”

So, what do you think of the plot twist which ushers out Cristal 2, but bring in the original Cristal 1?  Comment below.

This will be interesting to watch play out! I love this show and Nathalie Kelley was amazing but I will give this girl a chance. While we are talking new characters can we bring on a. The real Adam and b. Amanda Carrington? Marci Miller (soon to be ex-Abby, Days) or Chloe Lanier (soon to be ex-Nelle, GH) would both be great choices!

I am glad they aren’t killing off the character and this might be interesting. Can’t wait for the show to come back on and explain all of this.

So Ana Brenda Contretras is the original Cristal then why wasn’t she seen in the season 1 but season 2 rather. Anyway I love to see her here coz she’s my favorite actress in the telenovela series.

I really liked the Cristal played by Natalie Kelley and am not happy with the twist. I don’t think I will be watching now.

It’s kind of a head-jerk to me. Nathalie Kelley was great as Cristal so I don’t understand why they’re calling Anna Brend Contreras the “real” Cristal. I mean, Sami, her sister and brother-in-law; none of them ever mentioned that she looked different from the “real” Cristal. Will wait and see, I guess.

Maybe Cristal was kidnapped half way through the season and given plastic surgery so if she ever resurfaced it would be hard for her to convince others that she was Cristal and that the imposter wasn’t? Have to wait and see how it pans out!

Sounds like the show is reversing course on the character and is trying to make it seem like it was all part of the plan when it clearly was not. Treating your viewers like they’re dumb is never a good idea.

Eliza Bennett Cast as Amanda Carrington on CW’s Dynasty

In the original ABC classic version of Dynasty, Catherine Oxenberg played this key role, which was also played for a time by Karen Cellini, but now comes word that CW’s reboot of the series is adding back into the mix the character of Amanda Carrington.

This time, the British-Carrington will be played by actress Eliza Bennett (MTV’s Sweet/Vicious). And remember, Amanda is the daughter of Alexis Carrington (Elaine Hendrix).

According to TV Line, Bennett will become a series regular and will debut this season and return for season five of the soap.

The log lines for Amanda’s re-emergence in the story share: “The long-lost Carrington relative, born and raised in Europe, arrives on the Carrington doorstep holding a treasure trove of secrets from their past… and hers,  Amanda is smart, confident, and can hold her own against any Carrington who comes at her. By day she’s a savvy lawyer, but by night she’s a bit of a party girl. Ashe has no problem stirring up trouble in a family full of troublemakers.”

So, what do you think about NuAmanda? Excited they have had the character back to the canvas of Dynasty? Comment below.

‘Dynasty’ Reveals ‘Who’s In the Casket’ as Original Cast Member Exits

Friday night’s episode of CW’s Dynasty featured the highly-anticipated reveal of which character was being mourned at the funeral in the season-opener flash-forward.

It turned out that original CW series cast member, Alan Dale (Anders) is the one who exited the series, and who’s character died.  And as viewers learned it was not from exactly from an injury to the rib, sustained in trying to protect Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) and Liam (Adam Huber) from kidnappers that actually did Anders in, but from a car accident and the pain of it his injures on his way to see Cristal (Daniella Alonso) in the hospital that sent him to heaven. Meanwhile, Cristal wasn’t doing too well either, as she was undergoing experimental treatments for a brain tumor.

The red-herring of who was actually in the casket led viewers to believe it could have been Cristal, Liam, or Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley) and earlier in the season many believed it was Sam (Rafael de la Fuente) or Adam (Sam Underwood), but they later appeared in the flash-forwards of the funeral.

Clearly, Fallon is very devastated by the the loss of Anders.  Earlier in the episode Anders told her, “Nothing’s going to happen to you while I can help it. You’re like a daughter to me.”

Fans took to Twitter on Friday sharing their grief of the beloved Alan Dale being killed-off the series as well with numerous sentiments on the reveal.

So, did you guess it was Anders who was in the casket? Sad to know Alan Dale is off Dynasty? Comment below.
