On the heels of their highly successful Knots Landing reunion, the Hallmark Channel’s hit morning series, Home & Family is set to put on some shoulder pads, and bring back some familiar faces from the sudsy former ABC primetime soap, Dynasty!

Joining hosts Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare will be members of the Carrington clan including: Pamela Sue Martin (Fallon Carrington), Gordon Thomson (Adam Carrington) and Al Corley (Steven Carrington), and from the Colby “fam”, John James (Jeff Colby).

The special episode will air on Monday, January 26th, and is set to tape on Friday, January 23rd.  As well as taking a stroll down “Dynasty” lane, there will also be a tribute to costume designer Nolan Miller’s notable gowns, from the series, and a tribute to the late John Forsythe (Blake Carrington).

They should do a reboot and focus on the younger generation like Dallas did.

The late great Barbara Stanwyk was on the first year of the The Colby’s! Remember?

I know John Forsyth has passed, but id like to see a Dynasty mini series reunion…not a series reboot like Dallas just a short 6 part mini series on one of the cable networks!!!

Oh, the 80’s! That should be fun! Really groundbreaking shows.

Sweet! Who didn’t love/watch Dynasty in the 1980’s!? It was the template for all other shows of that era and it’s yearly cliff-hangers set the bar for outrageousness that is still being emulated in today’s shows!

Su, that’s shocking you never heard of “Dynasty.” It ran practically the entire decade of the 1980s, and was in the top 10 for several years, peaking as the No. 1 show on television one season. It turned Joan Collins into a household name. (John Forsythe and Linda Evans were already well-known.) Here are its rankings/viewers in millions (from Wikipedia):

Season 1 (1981): #28 (19.0)
Season 2 (1981–1982): #19 (20.2)
Season 3 (1982–1983): #5 (22.4)
Season 4 (1983–1984): #3 (24.1)
Season 5 (1984–1985): #1 (25.0)
Season 6 (1985–1986): #7 (21.8)
Season 7 (1986–1987): #24 (17.2)
Season 8 (1987–1988): #33 (14.33)
Season 9 (1988–1989): #57 (10.40)

The ONLY Fallon as far as I’m concerned was Panels Sue Martin.

I have always loved Pamela Sue Martin. When Emma Samms took over as Fallon was the end of “Dynasty” for me… nothing against Emma Samms, but she was just never Fallon.

I use to love this show, I wish I could watch the episodes on a network like Coz I or Antenna

I preferred Emma Samms!

And Linda Evans. Wow for both of them.

Nathalie Kelley Says She Is Not Returning To DYNASTY For Season 2

In a surprise admission during an interview with E Online, one of the core members of CW’s Dynasty reboot, Nathalie Kelley revealed she is not filming season 2 of the primetime sudser when it resumes filming next month.

Kelley plays Blake’s (Grant Show) wife, Cristal, who ended the season one cliffhanger in a precarious predicament after being shot by Claudia Blaisdel (Brianna Brown), while the Carrington mansion went up in flames, as well.

Kelley tells E! “I won’t be returning for Season 2.”  She went on to say as of the fate of Cristal:  ” Is it a coma? Is it death? … I actually don’t know. But I know that I’m not going to Atlanta in July, that I’m staying (in Los Angeles) … I’ve got my life back.”

Dynasty returns for its all-new season beginning on Friday, October 12th.

So, disappointed to hear there will be no Nathalie on season 2 of Dynasty?  How do you think they will write Cristal out of the story:  Coma … her body found will not be found … or is she truly dead?  Share your theories in the comment section below.

DYNASTY Season Finale: Burning Down The House!

Any soap opera lover should have been drooling over the season finale of CW’s Dynasty. Filled with every signature staple of the genre, and delivered in delicious fashion, the episode left us hungry for what’s in store for when the series returns for its second season.

The season finale was filled with multiple takeovers of Carrington Atlantic, one coup led by Fallon (Elizabeth Gilles) and another by their newest relative, Jeff Colby (Sam Adegoke) and yet there was another one going on with Alexis (Nicollette Sheridan) using Hank (Brent Antonello) to play the long lost son, while he voted later against Blake (Grant Show), Steven and Fallon. You need a scorecard to follow this, yet the double-cross of a double-cross was fun to watch.

The centerpiece of the episode was Steven (James Mackay) and Sammy Jo’s (Rafael de la Fuente) wedding filled with unexpected guests and shockers, chief among them a visit by soap vet Kelly Rutherford, who plays Melissa Daniels. As his wedding is about to start, Melissa shows up to tell Steven that she is pregnant with his child.

Elsewhere, when Cristal (Nathalie Kelly) who has already had it with Blake and feels trapped in a marriage to him, or is she really feeling that or enjoying the cat and mouse power game, figures out that Alexis has been sleeping with Hank, angling this whole takeover from her angle. When she confronts Alexis, finally the long-awaited mega catfight on steroids occurs (watch it after the jump) and the two women battle it out, until Alexis locks up Cristal.

When Anders (Alan Dale) finds her there and goes back to get the key, none other than unstable Claudia Blaisdel (Brianna Brown) arrives toting a gun. As she is about to have her long-awaited showdown with her nemesis the image of her former husband the late Matthew Blaisdel (Nick Wechsler) keeps coming up. She sees him in her mind, but she actually shoots Cristal and leaves her there to die. (more…)
