Two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott), who last aired in late October of 2018 on The Young and the Restless will be making a guest-stint appearance on the CBS daytime drama series.

According to Soap Opera Digest,Davidson will appear on the upcoming March 28th and 29th episodes.

So, what brings Ashley back into the fold? In her Y&R exit interview with Michael Fairman for the Michael Fairman Channel, she revealed that she would certainly entertain the notion of coming back for a stint if she was asked; whether it be for big Abbott gathering or something of that nature.

Eileen expressed to SOD: “I said on my last day that I would love to come back for a visit, and I was lucky enough to have Josh Griffith (head writer, Y&R) take me up on my offer.”

So what will bring Eileen back for a visit on Y&R? Comment below

I sense this will help repair the Abbott family. Even if Miss Davidson opts not to return as a contract player, periodic returns as this will do wonders for the soap, her character, and those close to her. Ashley cannot simply disappear. Maybe the new production team is more sensitive to fans and our love for the legacy players and characters. I am hopeful.

I don’t think Ashley can ever repair the damage she inflicted on Jack. If there is any justice, Jack will surprise Ashley by saying he now has the means to destroy her both personally and professionally. And he will if she does not deal.

Pauls back!!!, JT is back!!!! …
..and now Ashley for a visit?!!
..all is right again in Genoa city!
Thank you Tony and Josh!!
With the fave returns and writing exciting again and some vintage background music playing I feel y n r is back!!!!
Lets get some other faves back ..Jill, Nina, Olivia, Malcolm, Mamie, Dinah( where she disapear to?), Avery, Adam…and hopefully Colleen from the dead to reunite with JT and correct that horrible wrong that Mal Young and MAB commited! ..just some wishful thinking

GC isn’t the same without her. Good news!

Oh, Lew, my friend….so far GC has hit doomsdom, for sure. My beef is with the writers who decided to introduce the Rosales family!! Why? Perhaps I only speak for myself…..
What if Mia, herself, is surprised by the result of the pregnancy test? What if she is, indeed, pregnant? Does this mean she will not go to jail?
She insists she didn’t mean yo hurt Lola, thst it was an accident. Really? What she did is still a crime!!
Yet, Sharon goes to jail while Rey’s WIFEY escapes the heat?

Y & R had to bring in a Hispanic family in the 21st century, just like the way they brought in the Winters family on the 1980’s.

Ps. It’s a trick!! Mia somehow managed to steal the pregnant woman’s urine!! LOL
Please pardon the typos—-out the door!!

No, Celia my friend, it isn’t just you. Y&R has been too much Rosales. But, I think that is going to change, with Paul coming back to the canvas, Eileen Davidson making a special appearance and maybe more and bringing back the character of Adam and maybe Chelsea. Regarding Dudley Do Right Rey, you are correct once again! Mia can strong-arm Abby and assault Lola, because she thought she was Abby and get a pass, because she is supposedly carrying his kid. But, he showed no mercy to Sharon, the woman he supposedly loves?

Hey, Lew,
I know It’s just a soap, but I get so upset over these soapland injustices…..I want to scream—-and I did. LOL.
I hope you’re right, my friend…..that the distorted picture will soon clear and straighten out with the ‘second coming’ of Paul!!
How unfair is Rey? I truly wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt—-he did seem so ‘upright’. If he does not arrest Mia ( I don’t believe she is really pregnant….I think she manipulated the test), I will call Paul myself and tell him what really happened. LOL.❤️

Ray will keep this a secret, Lew—-of course, he would. He thinks she’s carrying his child.
Arturo is still blaming Kyle—-this is too much soap fodder—as it should be?
Another thing? Mia will have to do something desperate to get pregnant—–which means she is on the prowl. I doubt Rey will want anything to do with her? —-same old same old regenerated story.
Then, again…..this may all be in my head.

I’m always up for a visit from Eileen Davidson! A two-day stint is better than no stint! I wonder if this is going to lead to a long-term return like it did last time, or if she’ll stick to being a recur-guest!

shucks… her son is 14. I hope she’s enjoying his company till the teen years plus take. I HOPE THIS IS A START of seeing Ms. Davidson returns’ that much more frequent… this will keep her in the “arena”… very much like how @DAYS wants her… ie: Ali Sweeney must be loving this as well. you cannot keep your arsenal at bay. these are powerhouses’

be that as it may: I’ve always saluted WOMANHOOD. home and work… etc etc etc PLUS rearing your children. WOW… that’s a lot of keep.

I salute this woman PLUS

PS: i’m excited for Genoa City denizen.. AND FAN !!! gosh dang it… why couldn’t this be happening @General Hospital

My guess is for Neil Winter’s funeral.

What will bring her back: a wedding (her daughter) or a death (her mother). I don’t think they’ll need her vote to oust Phyllis.

Very cool!!

It’s no secret that she was not a fan of Mal Young as well – that “Jack is not an Abbott” story-line was a colossal dud; many feel it was hastily re-written to accommodate Eileen’s exit from “Y & R”. I’m sure if she had stayed, that lame story-line would still be continuing.

Name anyone who is/was a fan of Mal Young.

Me, lol.

same!

Bart, I continually see you posting on several soap sites about this, and you’re continuously wrong. She never stated she disliked Mal, at all, in any interview or statement. Stop spreading libel because of your own displeasure with someone who was hired to do a job. Maybe don’t live in a state of hatred.

HAHAHA – do you know what libel is???? I work for a law firm and you know not of what you speak – maybe you should mind your own business and get a life!!!

BTW – “As The World Turns” is a done deal – get over it!!!

Ver gerharget, Scott

I do know what libel is, and you are an ugly, ugly human being; I’ve seen you call many people names online, and maybe it’s time to get offline and go study law a bit more, because I have a feeling you’ll be needing it.

And, before you say I’m all YOU names, let me preface it: your attitude is what I am referring to as “ugly.”

Abby’s wedding. Neal’s funeral. Like that.

Unfortunately, I doubt it’s for Neil, since it was revealed that Neil’s exit won’t happen until April, and since this is a March return, it’s lining up for Abby’s wedding to Arturo, especially if it’s only a two-episode stint.

Hopefully she will join forces with Jack to rescue Jabot out of Phyllis’s clutches.

Phyllis driving me crazy (and we all know that’s a short drive for me). I detest how she’s trying to talk her way out of this latest jam she’s gotten herself into. They need to put a scarlet letter on her forehead. I think “B” would be a good choice as it could stand for “betrayer” AND “bitch.” She is still pretending that all her actions were done for the greater good of Nikki and Victoria. Hell, I would have more respect for her if she just admitted that yes, she was just looking out for herself when she threw The Three Stooges under the bus. The irony here is it was Phyllis who talked Curly, Larry and Mo into not calling the police and into covering up the accident. This accident was not a federal crime until Phyllis turned it into one.
On topic–glad Ashely is coming back for a visit, and I hope she comes back for good. Eileen Davidson certainly is talented and a beauty impervious to the ravages of time.

Harry,
I agree, as a lot of us do about Phyllis, and now she has recruited Kerry in her fight to keep her position at Jabot. Wouldn’t one little board meeting solve the problem? Don’t know much about business, but they have solved a lot of issues there, some petty ones, I thought too, at the time.I can’t believe how she has talked herself into thinking she’s saved the other three woman, by spilling her guts. I hoped Summer would say, “what have you done to my aunt and grandma”, but I forgot, she is her mother’s daughter. Phyllis’s scarlet letter would be a T for traitor.
As far as Ashley, I am trying to forgive her, because it was that S.O.B Mal Young, that made her do those rotten things to Jack. Bill Bell was probably spinning in his grave over John’s “Beauty”.

I disagree! I want Jack to verbally take Ashley down. There can be no tolerance and/or forgiveness for what Ashley did to Jack.

was the back story that Ashley was never ever made ceo of Jabot ? AND that Jack knowing all these years that she , by blood, was not biologically an Abbott ?

Nevertheless : Jack Sr. LOVED his diamond . just doted . dang who wouldn’t

Jack’ a big boy… he couldn’t seriously “challenge” Ashley with any thing could he? with Ashley being in full control of the “family” patents ? she could quash in a heartbeat all Jack “good” intention.

yet she left town because of all the hurt she caused. WITH backbone… kept her rightful place bequeathed by daddy

it’s only a matter of time , no?

WHEN will Jack ever find love peace and happiness? why not?

Beth Chamberlin’ Beth, ex-GL
Elizabeth Keifer’ Blake, ex-GL
Robin Christopher’, Skye, ex-GH

let’s show Jack – SHARING – his heart mind and soul with a woman with intellect, passion, and fire

COME ON Y&R : if you truly think just Jack fighting with the dead nuMANs is all this show needs ? you are all off your rocker. I swear… NO MORE PHYLLIS.. retread

NOW is the time like never before to bring FIRE back to Peter Bergman’ Jack Abbott throttle

I see one of three ladies ^^^ with

I’ve been saying Beth Chamberlin and Peter Bergman would be magic, ever since GL ended. Make it happen!!!

FOR – the simple reason.. that the show for whatever reason. dwindles down the Abbott Clan to “Just jack” at this point to see Jack and Victor fight to the death… blah blah blah… at least let Jack have a life !!!! no?

or perhaps it’s a moot point… LOOK at how DISRESPECTFUL Victor is with Nikki… forever and a day. THAT will never change… unless it’s ratings sweep and the hankies are brought out for a spell.

Jack can at least have a NEW WIFE ! his own romance… I agree with you.. I keep coming back to Beth Chamberlin as well. as much as I love ex-Blake … AND a so close 2nd ex-Skye.

with a new head writer and new executive producer… JUST JACK , NEEDS a good balance, someone to take Genoa City by storm.

doesn’t it just leave a pit in your stomach… w/Phyllis .. come on writers… sharing Phyllis with Billy ????? DONE DONE DONE. NO MORE PHYLLIS …

why don’t you want new, after reading this;

hot living excitement

Peter Bergman gets “work” LOL rain passionate turn

Amen to that statement!!

I did not like Ashley , nope..
Not speaking of the actress I know nothing of her to have a personal opinion..
00ohh forgot- when she joined the drugies alcoholics bottom of the rung Housewife’s, that said more about her then I’ll say, but still I know nothing of her personally outside of that horrible faux pas ..

Ashley was always a self-centered holier than Thu biotch, she was a piece of nasty work.. lol give that character credit for that whatever.
Anyways, it will be fun to see her again..
she’s back for a vote/Abbott business or!
something to do with Niel.. most likely.
(maybe they will find out they run away together, living happily ever after – a happy ending for Niel..

Don’t hold back, Su00,tell us how you really feel! I hated the writing which was afforded to her. What she did to Jack was beyond the pale and what made it worse was she continued to play the victim. No, you don’t get to be both the tormentor and tormented at the same time! It doesn’t work that way.
I also hate that Jack continues to apologize for Ashely’s abhorrent behavior. Just yesterday he apologized again to Abby for driving her mother away. Stop that nonsense! And while we are at it, can they recast Kerry? She’s far too young for Jack and she’s also a very stiff, wooden actress. I swear, they could recast her with the log from Twin’s Peak and Jack would have a more exciting love interest.

could it have some thing to do with “Mother” ? I don’t know the progression of Dina

Eileen Davidson: 5 months absence. I still have your last 2 eps on DVR : 10 26/29. haven’t even posted about you… other than when it’s heart pull… You and Marci Miller are still atop

Now Billy Flynn has taken leave

OUCH !

Hello – Please

can we get a heads up on when @Y&R New head writing campaign starts their engine

Eric Braeden’s assistant said that it would be early March. Can’t come soon enough!

Right Patrick! I thought the new writing regime’s episodes were going to start yesterday. That’s what I had read in one of the soap rags. But as soon as Y&R started with the scenes from of week’s episodes, I knew we were still watching M. Y.’s work.

For Abby’s wedding

Happy to see “Ashley’s” beautiful face. I would think it’s to celebrate Abby’s engagement to the worst actor/character on earth? Would the Rosales family have a feast with Lola’s life in the balance?
I hope she kicks arse where Keri ( sp) is concerned and expose her for whom/what she really is!!!! Yeah, kick her to the curb.
I wish the same could happen to Arturo and Mia ( is she really pregnant or is she using it as THE trump card ( Ha!), as vile women are wont to do? She is not the femme fatale to be using her wiles. I guess her “ugly”, mediocre machinations only work on the Rosales brothers, who look nothing alike, nor do they sound like having been sprung from the same family!!
I wish ( fervently!!) Eileen would either stay or make frequent appearances–she lights up the show for me!!

Celia,
Knowing you hate Mia as much as I do, I was thinking that they need to get Dina out, from where she’s been, give her another fork that she can stab Mia with, saying “yup, she’s done, now get her the hell out of here!” I wonder how long Ray will buy her phony pregnancy?
Is your husband willing to be our consultant? I am just curious as how a bump on the head, and fall into the pool, caused Lola’s liver problem. Have you and hubby watched The Good Dr.? I’d like a professional opinion. I just love it, and Freddie Highmore.

Hi, Violet,
My husband said thst hypothermia can cause liver failure…..Lola was submerged in that pool for how long?
My question is? Why didn’t the pool have a cover? It is cold in Wisconsin. And why wasn’t the water frozen? Even if the pool is heated, who goes swimming in winter, unless it’s indoor? All pools normally get “winterized” and covered.
I remember when Sam had that mystery infection ( GH) after giving birth to Scout….my husband diagnosed her with Toxoplasmosis waaaay before the show did—
I have yet to watch an episode of “The Good Doctor”—I always tell myself to do so….but, most evenings are so busy…..I usually watch old shows or catch up on my soaps–I force my husband to watch with me–he’s really into DOOL, right now—gets a kick out of Eve… ❤️

Celia
Thanks for the info. Gosh, I must watch all the medical shows, Grey’s Anatomy, Chicago Med., etc. The good Dr. is just so unusual, as is this young Dr.being autistic , wanting to help save people, but not being able to show emotion or compassion, is very interesting. Some of the stories I wonder, is that true, does or can that really happen? Wish I had a Dr. sitting next to me, that I could ask,” honey, is that right?” Lucky you!
Now that we know who Lola’s donor is, it should be interesting. So glad it wasn’t that brat Summer.

Hi, Violet,
I like Chicago Med–but, I don’t watch it that often. I do know the premise of “The Good Doctor”. I never really questioned if someone with autism would be able to practice medicine. I don’t know much about it; but, there are many people with Asperger’s who hold high-level positions. Their IQ is exceptionally high….
….I’m more into courtroom drama.
….which brings me to Christine’s not-so-dramatic antics a’ la Marcia Clark-esque.
I think the climax should be as such:….as we await the verdict with bated breath ( LOL)….the real JT bursts in to save the day!!
As far as Lola, I didn’t realize her donor was revealed on the show…..but, I did read that THE “match” will donate part of her/his liver for a non-monetary price. Sounds more like blackmail to me.
Oh, lest I forget—-I despise Kerry as much as I do Mia. Two peas in a pod!! They (and Tessa) just rub me the wrong way…..they have an agenda.

Hi Celia
I love your responses and comments.I so enjoyed Perry Mason, back before you were born, but I now watch about any of the crime shows like, NCIS, Law and Order,SVU, Chicago, PD, For The People,(best courtroom stuff)
I do read a lot of spoilers, so I know who the Y&R donor is,but missed it yesterday,so thought it was revealed. I don’t like to spoil things for anyone else, so I try not to spill the beans when I read things. I must say that most of them are true. I usually get mine on Utube, as crazy as they are. Have a good week-end. We are not enjoying all the rain here in Cal. but can’t complain.

What a pleasure you are, Violet.
We started off on the wrong foot–but, it didn’t last long.
I watch “Perry Mason”—-. Fios offers so many different networks with reruns galore. I love the old shows……I used to watch with my grandmother and my siblins…..she baby-sat a lot. LOL. She has a collection of movies from the 50’s to the present—-plus old TV shows.
I guess we like the same programs–I love crime drama. Perhaps I’ve chosen the wrong profession? I remember, as a little girl, I used to pretend I was Peggy Lipton from “The Mod Squad”. LOL. I think my grandmother must have every episode—-she looked so much like her in her youth—maybe, that’s why she has the collection……She also has every single rock music recordings of the 50’s through the 80’s, including Motown….From TIME-LIFE–one collection is titled,”Flower Power-The Love Generation” ( with bubble letters)….HaHa—I guess love has passed every following generation by? No more love?
I rarely have the time to watch during the day, but I do DVR so many shows–I have insomnia; so , on those loooog, white nights, I watch all my favorites. I usually catch up with my soaps, late at night.
Yes, I know who Lola’s donor is, as well……as yourself, I didn’t want to spoil it for anyone. But, I must have missed it when it was announced on the show? As I said, I accidentally read it when I was looking-up something else ( on Y&R).
You have a wonderful day, as well, Violet……getting kids ready for Mass.
Soon, my friend❤️

Hi Celia

Remember– it’s Wisconsin– a rare breed of state. Heated pools and 50 degrees below zero… time for a swim. You’d think the Abbotts would have an indoor pool.

Exactly—-yet, Ron, even if the pool is heated—-no amount of gold would make me dive into it in freezing weather!!
Most indoor pools have retractable ceilings and walls–seasonal–
So, yeah…the Abbotts don’t have such an enclosure for their pool?
I am enjoying the courtroom shenanigans, Ron—-Michael, the suave advocate; Christine the lawyer without a clue and Brittany Hodges ( Lauren Woodland practices law in real life) who knows what she’s doing; yet, not a “showy peony” .
Aside: I have never trusted Kerry . I am beginning to believe she and Phyllis are trying to oust the Abbotts for a complete takeover. Seize and control?
Mia, as I said is on the prowl. She bought the pregnant woman’s urine……how will she carry through a fake pregnancy? She does share a bed with her husband, Rey (the criminal who is aiding and abetting her–some honest lawman). Even if she fakes it ( hard to do–being pregnant is not an easy feat) she will have to manufacture a baby? Steal one? Buy one ? Tigers, bears and lions, Oh My!! LOL.
With all the evidence against JT ( the therapist should testify), video of him assaulting Victoria etc.; this should be an open and shut case. Plus, there’s no body!! Christine is arguing spousal abuse? In real life, this case would have been dismissed.
Had it not been for Phyllis, this stupid “drama” would not be happening. The charade and botched display of righteous indignation ” performed” by Christine is laughable. Dumb writing!!
Sorry for the tirade. Th-th-that’s all, my friend.❤️

Thanks for the morning laugh! Kerry and Phyllis– I could care less. The only story I’m invested in is Dina, and it’s been dropped like a hot potato.
In the 80s Y and R introduced us to Nina Webster and the start of the black market baby storyline; it would be a good opportunity to revisit that plotline and have current information present for viewers. I hope the new head writers have Lola shove Mia into a pool and close the cover. And, as I sung repeatedly: I’ve had high schoolers write better content in my creative writing classes and better nonfictional in Journalism. Cannot seem to find bios on the current writers of Y and R… very annoying.

Another polar plunge here in Illinois… and this is March. Hope it’s not heading your way, my friend.

Take care.

We are smack in the midst of that “polar plunge”, Ron……I had half day today…..it was brutal early this morning!!
I bundled and wrapped my daughter up so heavily, she could barely move. My husband thinks I’m crazy—-did I tell you that already? Oops!!

I wish Nina would return and bring some of those long, lost, meaningful storylines with her!! I seem to hazily remember that the liver-transplant storyline is a ‘rerun’. One of Nina’s sons, either Lance or Ronan, needed a liver transplant—-not very original to use the same theme/plot. Why not switch-it-up and make it a kidney? The heart? Used already?

Think about it, Ron—-every story is a farce; especially Mia’s. There is no redeeming quality about this character. She’s just not likable to me.
I have heard “Kerry” is leaving!! HALLELUJAH, JESUS!!

I get it Ron—I am still a substitute in English (and Physics) class…As yourself, I find my seniors write a more concise narrative than these seasoned writers.
Furthermore, I am forever baffled by how pitiful the grammar, on our soaps, is. One would think the writers excel in the subject? When will these actors learn that “between”, and every other preposition, is followed by the objective case (any pronoun)? Every time I hear “Between you and I/or he/or she/or they”; my hair stands on end!!
Only we educators can appreciate the importance of correct grammar. It is embarrassing for our country, as a world power, to come in second to last where Academia is concerned. It’s no wonder!! And, yes, you have sung it, many-a-time!!
The problem is: grammar is not taught after sixth/seventh grade in Public Schools. Private and Prep Schools are, at least, trying to remedy that.
Sorry, I’m ranting again, but, boy….do I feel better!!
“Till we meet again”, my friend….Keep warm. ❤️

Amen to the grammar rant, CeeCeeGirl! You’re preaching to the choir!!!…May I suggest another reason the public schools are currently so abysmal in that department is that they are now so busy trying to teach “English As A Second Language” that “English As A First Language” has been totally parked by the wayside??? My blood boils whenever I read about those programs being expanded and my tax money used to “educate” illegals over the needs of our own country’s students. Just another instance where “America First” should be the policy of the day.

I think her visit has to do with the upcoming Neil Winters storyline and possibly Abby’s wedding (if Abby goes through with it)

It’s for Kristoff St. John

Probably coming back for Abby’s wedding.

Ashley Abbott was written into a corner. The acting saved the stories for me. I wish Graham was kept on canvas as a foil for the family. I did not care for the Jack’s-No-An-Abbott story either, but it is past and we can move on. What all other heck plays out on daytime drama, I think some sort of family reconciliation can come forth, though it would not and should not be easy. When Jack and Ashley work together, it is a dream team on screen IMHO. For now, they will duke it our until Dina’s condition worsens or they family is threatened wholly by an outside force, demanding union.

The Graham storyline had a lot of potential and, yet, it fell flat for me by the end of it all.

I sincerely hope Eileen returns frequently,Y&R isn’t quite the same without Ashley.

I agree with you Fanny, I LOVE Eileen Davidson, like her TV dad said, she’s such a beauty and classy lady…

I get so confused with all the new characters and mainly Victor. Talks so low And the background music gets so loud I can’t make out what anybody is saying could you please lower the music

Fay,
Being older, my hearing isn’t that good, and lose a lot of dialogue, so I just keep my CC,Close Captions on, I don’t miss anything that way, even with the music blasting. All TVs have it, give it a try.

Hey, Violet and Fey,
LOL. I have trouble hearing some of these actors who mumble—Eric Braeden, Billy Miller etc.
Not always age. ❤️

Hayden Panettiere Remembered: ‘Guiding Light’ and More Stars Mourn Her Loss in Wake of Tragic Death

Hayden Panettiere

Tributes continue to pour in from the entertainment and soap opera community, and especially from former co-stars of Hayden Panettiere, who died on Sunday at the age of 36.

Panetierre was best-known to soap fans for her roles as as a young Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light and Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live, and as an adult in ABC’s music city primetime soap opera, Nashville where she starred as Juliette Barnes opposite General Hospital alum, Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville).

As previously reported, Panettiere died on Sunday afternoon, August 16 in a home in Greenville, South Carolina. The coroner released an official statement on Monday, which read in part “no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death. The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies.” First responders rushed to the scene after a 911 call about a woman who was unresponsive from an overdose and in cardiac arrest.

Now below, check out some of the heartfelt remembrances for the extraordinarily talented, Hayden Panettiere from several of her Guiding Light co-stars and more. Michael Fairman TV will continue to add to the list of tributes throughout the next few days as they become available, as well as keep you updated on any further developments in Panettiere’s death.

Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines, GL): “Hayden played my daughter for 3 years. She was the most brilliant child actor I’ve ever seen.  The things she could do, the way she could remember 20+ pages of dialogue, day after day.  Even on days where the director would come out between dress and tape and make huge cuts to the scenes, Hayden, never once forgot a line or missed her blocking.  The adults would, but not Hayden.  I felt blessed to work with her. And always perfect in her playing of the scene.”

Connie Britton (Rayna James, Nashville): “This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright. I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak.
I love you girl. Sleep easy now. 💔”

Tina Sloan (Lillian Raines, GL): “Hayden Panettiere was my granddaughter on Guiding Light. She died at 36 and was such a star.”

Rebecca Budig (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL, now Taylor, B&B): “I remember working alongside her..loved her and her family. She and Beth were spectacular together. So sad for her family and those who knew and loved her.”

Karla Mosley: (Dani Dupree, BTG) “This is awful awful news. Blessings to her soul and all who loved her.”

Photo: CBS

Bethany Joy Lenz: (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL) “There is nothing that posting pictures on the internet can do. I avoid it usually in moments like this. But Im here with my head in my hands and I don’t know what else to do in aside from praying for her soul, which I have done and will continue. I’m crushed. I knew the wild little blonde. Was she nine? Ten? I was eighteen. She ran through the Screen Gem studio hallways at 222 E44th St. laughing and playing games in between Guiding Light blocking and camera rehearsals. Long, unruly curls trailing behind her. She knew her lines and everyone else’s. Her intelligence was astonishing. She understood scenes and nuance and human struggle like no child I’d ever seen on camera. And she’d sit with you for a great conversation, then giggle and go play. We’d connect on and off over the years, like the cousin in the family reunion who got famous and life moved her away—but I always felt such joy seeing her when we were lucky enough to cross paths. We’d make a pact to talk soon. Lunch. Dinner. Somewhere we could curl up into a corner—but we never quite made it happen. I mostly stayed up to date through mutual friends.”

Lenz continued, “I don’t understand how this is real. Everything seemed to be turning around. She was coming BACK to life, wasn’t she? It’s too young and there’s still so much more life. And her daughter…. Hayden, you are surround by love. I’m sorry for every moment I didn’t reach out or check in. This can’t be real. These are moments of how I knew you, in glimpses over 26 years. I don’t know how to process this. I am praying for you to know the peace of God now and always.”

Brittany Snow: (ex-Daisy Lemay, GL) “I was lucky enough to play your sister for 3 years. I related to you so much in so many ways. Ways that I never even told you. Your talent was remarkable & so was your determination to be a bold, bright shining light. And you were. Always supportive, curious, funny and brave. You will always be remembered undoubtedly for your undeniable strength and spirit 💔.”

Charles Esten, Hayden Panettiere

Photo: CestenIG

Charles Esten (ex-Deacon Clayborne, Nashville): Patty (Esten’s wife) and I are stunned and saddened at the loss of our dear and beautiful friend Hayden. I will never forget the first time I met her. In a sound stage office in Hollywood, I was finishing up my very first NASHVILLE audition. I had read two Deacon scenes before pulling out my guitar and singing two songs. I said my goodbyes and, hoping I’d done well, went to open the door to leave. Instead of swinging all the way out, the door bumped into somebody. Kinda hard.”

“To my complete surprise, It was Hayden Paniettiere, who – in full Juliette Barnes mode – had been listening with her ear to the door. Instead of looking even a little bit caught, her face instantly bloomed into the most beautiful smile. Eyes twinkling, she clapped her hands and said, “That was so good!!” I can promise you that in that moment, there was nothing in the world I needed to hear more than that. I told her that, along with my HEROES-watching family, I was already a big fan of hers, and that I was grateful for the very kind words. It was her turn to go in, so as I went to leave, I said a jokingly cocky, “See you on the set!”

“I was, of course, many auditions away from landing that incredible role. But when I finally did, and showed up in Nashville to start work, she walked right up to me, pointed in my face, and with that magical grin said, “See you on the set!” From there, we became fast friends, working very hard to play those 2 troubled Nashvillians, but always having fun and laughing a whole lot along the way. She was, of course, extraordinarily talented, infusing her larger-than-life character with all the heart, charisma, humor, whip-smart intelligence, and flat-out magic that were, alongside whatever troubles and pain she carried, a part of her own personal palette. What a great gift it was to act with her, sing with her, and to just be her friend. She was always extremely kind to my family, especially my wife, Patty, who I’m certain she liked even more than me.”

Together, we are heartbroken that she is gone, and praying for her family, and for all those who, like us, will miss and mourn her so dearly. God bless you, Hayden.
Rest In Peace and Light ❤️

Emme Rylan: (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, GL et al.)” So very sad. Rest in peace sweet soul.”

Bryan Craig: (ex-Morgan, GH) posted a text exchange via his Instagram story he had with Panettiere where they laughed about her making fun of his hat. He wrote: “Love you Hayden. Rest in peace Angel.” Craig later added, “Cherish the moments with people you love and care about. As cliche as it sounds. Send that text, get that cup of coffee, tell them you love them and you’re proud of them. You may not get the chance again.”

John Oliver Recaps His ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘General Hospital’ Soap Opera Experience on ‘Last Week Tonight’

Published

John Oliver

Last Week Tonight host, John Oliver had his soap dreams come true on not one, but two long-running daytime dramas, heralding it his “hot soap summer” on the Sunday night, August 16 edition of his HBO series.

As viewers recall, Oliver’s tour of soap duty began back in March when he made a request and an offer to appear in any daytime drama that would have him with certain conditions, which included: having a ridiculous and over the top character name, a juicy storyline, and a slap.

Both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital came a-calling for Oliver, taking him up on his offer and in short order. Oliver appeared on GH in the role of the head of the WSB named  Z on episodes airing July 2-6, and then on DAYS in the role of Salem’s chief water inspector, Devlin St. John, in episodes that streamed the week of August 11.

FIRST STOP, PORT CHARLES

On Last Week Tonight, Oliver shared that both soaps delivered, and then launched into a comedic send-up complete with clips from some of his scenes. Starting with General Hospital.

Oliver said, “To General Hospital’s credit, they met all my requirements and more. First, my character got to arrive by a helicopter flanked by a pair of armed goons. And I got to do a dramatic walk during which I bravely shot in the general direction of a guy who was already on the ground. It’s called being an action star, by the way, unless you’re me or Vin Diesel, you really wouldn’t understand. And then in my next scene, I revealed my true identity. (Oliver played the scene where Josslyn wakes up in a hospital bed with Z standing at the side of her bed introducing himself).

He continued, “As for getting slapped, well, they knocked that and me out of the park too, because it turns out that agent’s mother was not happy with me,” explained Oliver, as they cut to the slap of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) in the WSB Port Charles bureau office on Z. Oliver screamed, “YES! It has everything! A slap, a dramatic closeup, and me doing a voice so wrong, it is genuinely embarrassing. That was my honest attempt at an American accent. I can’t tell you why it’s southern. I can only tell you I was trying my hardest.”

SECOND STOP, SALEM

Then, came John’s wrap-up of his role of Devlin St. John on Days of Our Lives, the town’s chief city water inspector. “It is on Days of Our Lives I appeared in scenes alongside soap legends like Jackée Harry (Paulina) and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). And the Days of Our Lives team met my demands in a whole different way because instead of being an international spy boss, they wrote me a character a little more my speed.”

Cut to a clip of Oliver introducing himself as Devlin St. John to Rita. He explains, “I’m the only thing standing between this town and a catastrophic plumbing failure. A literal sewage apocalypse. They made me Salem’s Chief City Water Inspector, which let’s be honest, is perfect casting. If you’re going to bottle my essence and sell it as cologne, it would be called ‘Chief City Water Inspector.'”

DEVLIN’S WIG

The late night host also clarified all the reports, that the wig he wore for his DAYS character he actually brought from home. “Now, as for the hair, I agree, it’s absolutely incredible. It’s been reported this past week that it is a wig I brought to set from home. And while it wasn’t technically from home, we did actually provide that wig, and for good reason,” joked Oliver. “I’ve seen myself act. I knew the hair was going have to do 90% of the work. I’ll be honest, I was going for a healthy John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH) look, but instead, it appears I ended up looking more like Tina from Bob’s Burgers.”

“And if you’re wondering whether I got slapped on Days of Our Lives, not only was I slapped by a man wearing elegant silk pajamas (EJ), I also got to slap him, which felt utterly incredible. But wait, I was also stabbed with a syringe and not once, not even twice, but three different times. And if that wasn’t enough, this happened too.” At that point, Oliver played the clip of Rita using the taser on Devlin.

JOHN OLIVER LEAVES DOOR OPEN FOR A SOAP RETURN

The now late night star-turned-soap actor concluded his segment with, “Are you not entertained? Watching that makes me feel the way I assume Matt Damon felt after seeing the first cut of the Odyssey, both proud and impressed that my body could even do that. Which again, you wouldn’t understand. You’re not an action star like I am now. ”

As he ended his recap, Oliver thanked both soaps for playing along, and noting that neither DAYS or GH actually killed him off! Could a John Oliver return happen down the line? Stay tuned.
