Ellen DeGeneres premieres her new soap spoof, "As the Tide Turns"!

On today’s Ellen Show and all week long, Ellen DeGeneres has launched a soap spoof in homage to all the recently canceled soaps and as part of a marketing promotion with sponsor Tide ( A P&G product).

In it, Ellen along with comedienne Wanda Sykes and hunk du jour, do a take-off of soaps with long gazing stars, complete with organ music, and a humorous little plot revolving around a lipstick stain.

However, the funniest part of this was the opening title sequence where in very “soapy” fashion, Ellen is dressed as myriad of characters.

Too bad Ellen doesn’t have her own network…..she would probably save the soaps, unlike Oprah and her crappy network.

I love Ellen, but I didn’t like the fact that she used Tide as a sponsor. Weren’t they the jerks who killed As The World Turns? ( P & G)

The writers could have used a different brand. It just pissed me off more with them using Tide. I don’t blame Ellen, but the writers should have know better. Then again, they’ve probably never watched a soap opera…I think most of them are 20 or so.

I still miss ATWT!

I like they they are using the intro notes from Days of our Lives in the beginning.
I don’t think it’s the writers that choose what brand. It’s product placement within Ellen’s show. They are getting paid by Tide. I can’t blame Ellen for using it. It is ironic that the brand used to support several soaps and is now sponsoring sketchs of soaps.
