On Thursday, The Ellen DeGeneres Show officially came to its conclusion when the long-running talk show taped its final episode.

DeGeneres last show will air next month on May 26th and will exit the afternoon landscape it has been a part of since 2003.

The announcement came via Ellen herself on her Twitter account.

She also added this message: “When we started this show in 2003, the iPhone didn’t exist. Social Media didn’t exist. Gay marriage wasn’t legal. We watched the world change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. But whatever was happening, my goal was always for the show to be a place where we could all come together and laugh for an hour.  Being invited into your lives has been the greatest privilege of my life and has brought me incredible joy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

Ellen’s ride during her final years of the run of the talker have been marred in controversy over the allegations that she fostered toxic workplace environment.  In May of 2021 with much backlash, she revealed that the 19th season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be her last.  However she said her decision to exit at that time had nothing to do with what was happening behind the scenes.

The final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show will celebrate the 25th anniversary episode of the “coming out” episode of her sitcom, Ellen.  She shared in the opening monologue: “When I came out, people warned me that it was going to ruin my career, and they were right for a while.  Actually, for exactly three years, I lost my career. But look at me now.”

So, what are your thoughts now that The Ellen DeGeneres Show is done with its 19-year journey? Are you going to watch the final episode? Comment below.

It’s too bad that a person who became a bazillionaire from a talk show still can’t talk honestly. Her ending the series had nothing to do with the toxic workplace of the show? Who does she think she’s kidding? Too bad some of the courage it took to come out couldn’t make an appearance now.
