Emma Samms Returns To General Hospital!

Courtesy/FVTwitter
Big news was first heard at the General Hospital Fan Club Weekend main event Saturday, from none other than Emma Samms (Holly)!
Emma was on hand at the event and took to the stage with the other GH cast members and confirmed her return to the ABC soap, when a fan asked what she was doing there? However Emma revealed, she could not say anything more! No storyline info was divulged!
However now that the news is out, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini, who also made an appearance at the main event GH luncheon Saturday, tweeted another confirmation of the return of Samms on his Twitter account this morning.
Valentini related, “Guess the secret’s out!!” He also shared a pic from the green room at GH’s ABC studios with he and Emma!
So what do you think about the return of Holly? How will she play into the storyline? Are you happy about Emma returning to GH? Share your thoughts below!
Love Holly, SO happy Emma’s back for a bit. I hope Cartini can start to fix the damage Guza did to this beloved 80s heroine!
I’m trilled! I hope Tristen Rogers is coming back, too. Last we heard Robert Scorpio was in a coma and Holly was with him.
Totally agree with you! Tristan Roberts a/k/a Robert Scorpio should have stayed on all along. I feel there is so much for him to interact with Anna and Duke. Also, we should find out what condition he’s in regarding his coma. More than anything, I’m hoping he can help rescue Robin so that she can return even if it’s only for a short time because of how busy she is now that she is directing. Hopefully, he can also help Luke find Jerry Jax and get the help he needs before it’s too late. Then of course, they both could rescue Robin. Gosh, the two of them working together just like they did back in the 80’s, this would make so many GH fans VERY, VERY HAPPY!
I love the way you blended “Robin’s” life with “Kimberly’s” life. (Is Robin off directing ?)
Ii’ll be happy to have Emma back if she can accomplish three things: 1) to undo this Ethan crap that she and Luke slept together which resulted in Ethan; 2) explain convincingly to Laura that it was a con that had to perpetrated to save Luke and his family; 3) find Robert and bring him out of the coma either by her wiles or by getting him medical attention
His daughter Robin also.
LOVE that Holly is back. Holly is my fave female character ever on GH. My favorite male character just happens to be her son Ethan so if Nathan could come back for awhile, I’d be very happy! I hope Robert comes out if his coma, too!
Ethan/Nathan just may be back soon…his prime time show was recently cancelled, so he could possibly be available again for GH! Really enjoyed his last too-brief appearance…..
Yep, Bunheads got cancelled. He recently did a Lifetime Channel movie so he’s been doing other things. Just hope it works to be back on GH for at least a little while.
so sad to hear that “bunheads” was cancelled !!!! I loved that show.
( maybe prospect park and hulu can save it )
I agree he is a Hotie 🙂
According to GHNewsAndScoops on Twitter, you may get your wish….it indicates that” Ethan Lovett” shall indeed be returning. These tweets have proven to be a pretty reliable source…up until a week or so ago, they were supposedly “authored” by “Heather Webber”…and it was insanely demented and funny. They just switched over to Ava Jerome as its “host” now, and while the info still seems to be as accurate, it’s not nearly as entertaining….but worth a look each day, though! P.S. It would seem that “Julian” is definitely going to be Sam’s daddy…soooooo disappointing!!! Cannot stand the guy playing him….he just comes off as an evil bully, and I don’t like his “look.” When you think of all the yummy possibilities we named as prospective fathers, this appears to be a MAJOR letdown for longtime GH fans. Just not into this whole Jerome crime gang redux….
This will hopefully bring Robert back as well. And end this horrific Robin storyline that’s been drug on for too long. What the photo doesn’t show was a man in a bloody shirt, who is likely Anthony Geary.
I agreee totally with Scott—-END the “Story line” with Robin & Robert & Dr Olbrect—Bring back Robin on a reoccuring basis that or recast Robin…
The show wouldn’t recast Robin. They tried that once and Finola Hughes nearly s–t herself and stopped it. Just work around Kim’s schedule. She’s stated she’s willing if the work schedule was decent for her. Either end the horrific storyline or kill her off for real.
I agree…I want Robin back…Holly was with Robert, he wakes up, tells Anna that Robin is alive…they find her and bring her home!!! Patrick and Sabrina storyline is soooo boring, I actually fast forward when they are on.
WHATEVER it takes to get rid of the ludicrous SABRINA, JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!! NOW….
I love Emma Samms. First boyhood crush. She’s amazing and is a great beautiful person outside the cameras in everything she does for children charities. She has deep roots in the #GH history and deserves to be back in the 50th anniversary. I wish she was back permanently but she family back in England. Also she is the best GH twitterer and is totally worth the follow. She’s hilarious and has great tweets: @emmasamms1
Who would not love GH? Best show on TV.
My mother loves Holly and returned to GH when she returned to the show last year…it has been nice watching with Mom again in the months since. She hasn’t been overly critical of the various returns and has embraced the new characters as well, mostly just happy to see multigenerational stories return to GH and soaps in general. I am following her lead and just enjoying every time a classic character pops up in any capacity. My 20-year old sister is all Sabrina/Britt/Patrick/Felix/Maxie/Lulu all the time, as I remember being about the teens/young people in the 90s, so the beat goes on. But so happy to see Holly again…almost sure she will be in Luke’s storyline and would love to see her face off with Jerry Jacks!
I love Emma and I’m sure that it most likely has something to do with helping Laura find Luke and saving the day. LOL!
She needs to bring Robert out of his coma and back to GH!!!
DITTO!!!
Glad Emma Samms is returning, hope this mean they’re tying up some loose ends The whole storyline with Faison/Duke, Robert and Anna working together again, Robert finding Robin and all that, was so well done for 95% of it, but the way they ended it, leaving Robert in a coma never to be seen or heard from again, that was terrible, so I hope this is their way of addressing that.
Kimberly McCullough is trying to direct feature films. She is not available to GH at this time. Because Robert knows Robin is still alive, he can’t come out of the coma unless 1) KM is coming back to the show as a regular or to tie up her storyline or 2) Robert comes out of the coma with no memory of seeing Robin.
I am the biggest Robert Scorpio fan so believe me, I want him back, I just don’t think its possible right now.
I think it’s great news that Emma Samms is returning to GH as Holly. I have always loved her in that role. Would be nice when she returns if Tristan Rogers as Robert recovers from his coma and returns also. I think Holly and Robert make a great couple!!!!! Would love to have them involved in a storyline together!!!!!
I hope they fix the character assination that has been done to Holly over the years. I loved Holly in the 80’s but not the Holly that they turned her into in the times she has come back. Hope this time is different.
Thrilled!!!! Clearly if Emma is returning, Tristan Rogers will not be far behind. Great news. Some have speculated that Robert/Holly, Anna/Duke will team to find Robin and end that story. Bringing Luke (and Laura) into the mix would make it SHEER HEAVEN for this fan. Here’s hoping.
Nice to have her back ,I’m assuming her return will tie in with Luke.
It would be nice to have Robert back too ! And Robin….oh where for art tho Robin ?
Wow.. guess Ron and Frank are continuing to play the what veteran character to ruin game. Since Holly was ruined by the previous regime, wonder if they might actually repair the character.
Personally, it’s good that a veteran from the heyday is back.
I liked Holly, I thought she was great with Robin, and when I read she used blackmail to not automatically help Robin I was disgusted. I had shut the show off at that time, So I was surprised. Guess I shouldn’t have been with Guza at the helm destroying all the characters. I hope she brings back Robert , he is the one character I never FF no matter who”s in a scean with him. and gets to interact with Emma. A vet is always better than the scummy show.
I’m so glad she’s coming back too. I love her. I just hope it’s not another case of a brief pop up to appease the old GH fans and then she’s gone again. I’d love her to be involved in a decent storyline, hopefully with Robert and Anna, and maybe even Shawn.
I’d also like to find out that she lied and Ethan is not Luke’s son.
And I agree Scott. They need to end this Robin storyline sometime this century!
Even if they were to rewrite history and say Ethan is NOT Luke’s son, he still admitted to going off and sleeping with Holly while married to Laura; so regardless of whether or not a child was borne from that, Luke still cheated on Laura 🙁
That’s good but I would also like to see Frisco
Yes, yes, YES!!!!!!! Bring back Frisco!
Had to reply here Shay…somehow i missed that part with Ava and Tracy at Kellys(tip to Heather) ill have to rewatch that scene. Also about Patrick, Sabrina, and Sam…Sabrinas problem is she isnt strong enough…seems insecure…and mostly its the actress’s voice…i cant describe it at the moment but when she talks she doesnt sound right…maybe its the dialouge given her…not certain but i like the actress and felt she, Micheal, Starr/Kiki/Lauren wouldve made a better love triangle. And i noticed better chemistry between Patrick and Sam…in some ways Sam closely resembles Robin…Patrick shouldve fell for Sam instead.
Thanks for your reply…i know how you feel…when i used to watch OLTL i was never a fan of the Ford brothers…
Yes I’m glad she’s back but please give her something great to do hopefully with the other vets like finola and genie . No more back burner for the vets that all I ask.
I think Emma is great but I hated the whole Luke cheating on Laura storyline because he never would have.
Agreed!
This I do believe is how they are bringing Sean back 🙂
could she be the one to find Luke cure ???
WooHOO!!! Hope that means Tristan Rogers is with her… even if he is just in a coma! That would lead me to believe he will be comung back and that will be soooooooooo fabulous!!! I want an Anna, Robert, Robin, Holly, Luke and Laura story-line coming!!! Thank you for the great news!!!
Forgot… Hope you were at the GH fan event Michael!!! Hoping and wishing for some interviews (hopefully video) and pics and news!!!
Holly, Ethan and Robert! would be awesome! Emma is good to start the ball rolling. Let’s go writers..:)
oops~~~
Ethan belongs to Luke.
I absolutely love Emma. She is a big part of GH. I was so sorry that she was not around for GH’s 50th Anniversary. I hope Tristan will follow shortly. Robert and Holly was GH’s best couple ever!
I love Holly, I was named after her! It’s always good news when she’s coming back!
Is that really true? Your name is Holly and you were named for the GH character?
That’s 100% true. My mom has been watching GH since the very first episode in 1963 and loved Holly in the 80s. I was born in 1984, and she named me after her.
Would have preferred the Cassadine story with Stefan!
Sorry guys Nikolas alone is barely a Cassadine. He is frankly rather dull without the family.
But then this is now a cartoon seemingly so Luke can return and gloat I guess UGH
I would be thrilled if GH could reunite Holly with Robert, the true love of her life. They shared such magic back during their marriage . I never thought he and Anna were such a great couple together. I preferred her with Duke.
Is she really Sam mother?
Remember in 7 years ago there a question as about ALEX OR HOLLY
Don’t fall for this stunt. They’ll bring her in for 2 wks to jump ratings then back to OLTL. Cartini does not like GH. It’s a platform they hijacked.
yes im happy
love holly so happy she is back
Having Holly back would be nice, great even—BUT so far when people return they make them out to be wrong or bad or rediculous–something is always “off” with them. (it is like they have set out to make GH charecters silly so they can change it to be OLTL-Port Charles. Like when they made fun of Anna & Robert for being spies & all that they have done–this is a soap opera–NOTHING is stupid—we are supposed to swallow it alll-so those kiinds of comments ???? And then to make Luke & Laura—-NOT be Luke & Laura….Really ?????
Holly without Robert would be a non story. Especially since they made a point of leaving Robert with Holly. Also, Sean is back in mid to late August for a few days. Again, without Robert this would make no sense. With these people, though, nothing would surprise me.
I couldn’t agree more!!
Of course we are happy that Holly is back. She either needs to stay or come back more often.
I love emma samms as holly. she is a wonderful actress. i loved her on dynasty and the colbys as fallon. i hope holly gets a good storyline on general hospital. welcome back emma.
Well considering how much RC has effed up the other returns, I’m not holding out much hope for a coherent storyline that make even a modicum of sense. Why he still has a job in daytime completely mystifies me.
samms was great on models inc. but her 80s char fallon was really dull.
Nice to have her back. Hopefully she isnt kicked to the curb after a couple of weeks. I will enjoy her while it lasts.
Love the idea of Holly, but wish her and Robert Scorpio would come together too. Great back story there. Always wanted Anna and Robert actually back together. Wissh Robin Anna Robert and Patrick would all have a happily ever after. They could all ride into the sunset, just want a happy one for them just once and forever.
Tristan and Emma made the most fabulous couple aka Robert & Holly. They should be re-united on the show,
really happy that emma is returning she is a great actresss can’t wait to see her mist her a lot and Robert scorpio, and the rest of that group of people who made general hospital so good
Emma Samms was missed during anniversary time, and this is welcome news. I want some closure, though, with loose ends, particularly Robin. I have always loathed the off-canvas plots of kept prisoner in a foreign country, or comatose for years. If no one wants recasts, then please, just give the characters a happy ending and send them off. Then if we want them back, bring them back broken and ready for repair with new drama. I hope Holly can ignite some middle-aged to now-senior heat for Luke, Laura, Scotty, Tracy, Robert, Anna and Duke. And be akey to ending this Robin missing silliness. And put to bed some of this odd, superspy silliness that in this day and age seems anachronistic to me. Thank you.
I will miss Finola.
Where is she going?
They made a point of leaving Robert with Holly and now she comes back with him? I hope something good come out of this for the Robert and Holly and Scorpio fans. Why can’t we get Robert and Holly reunited and coming back together. Now, that’s what I want to see.
Frisco the deadbeat dad is gone and IMO should stay gone.
Hmmm…never heard that he failed to pay his child support, which is what a true deadbeat dad is…..but he was an absent father, so that is all the more reason he needs to come back and try to make amends. Maxi’s delivery of his first grandchild could be sooo perfect if only Frisco could show up as a surprise. Then he could also try again to throw a monkeywrench into the ridiculous Mac/Felicia nups….not that I care about him getting back together with his ex. I think they need to give Mr. Jones a nice, fresh start, and his former and her new “hubby” (or whatever) should hightail it out of town….they are insufferable and boring!!!!!! Good riddance to them both…..and please take Lucy, Kevin and Scotty with them. Some blasts from the past are fun and exciting, but others should simply remain in the past!!!! Not all nostalgia is great…..
Her 1992 return and 2006 return were so borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring. Why bring her back? Why not give Robin Mattson more screen time!
Yes…more Heather!!!
Oh yes…we need us some more Heather! Loved the little tip of the hat to her the other day when Ava and Tracy were at Kelly’s….the dual mention of BLT’s and LSD was brilliant!!!!
hopefully Holly will be working with Luke to find his cure!
Holly? Okay, but where is Robert???? It is a crime against the soap gods and fans that Frank V has forgotten how important Robert is! Frank V’s treatment of Robert has only driven me away. What a waste!
Robert could be coming back…i hope he is and TPTB are keeping it hushed to suprise fans…i think it really depends on the right moment. Maybe Patrick and Sabrina are getting married and he shows up at the church with Robin. That’ll also depend on K.M. avaiability!
Oh God forbid we are subjected to an actual marriage between the doctor and the babysitter! Just having to see them together at all is an absolute pukefest!!!! Yesterday’s episode was totally ruined by their scenes together….it just totally defies reason that someone like Drake Jr. would be with that silly, clingy little thing…the other day when he comforted Sam, it revealed more chemistry between those two characters than the entire contrived romance with “Nurse Santiago!” How can the ptb’s not see what a dreadful mistake this whole storyline has been? And no, I am not that pro-Robin…other than wanting a conclusion to the mystery surrounding her character, I don’t care if KM comes back to GH….she was always rather annoying! It is just that the direction that Patrick has taken since her absence has been soooo ridiculous….he should have been with Elizabeth or Sam or EVEN Britt….anyone but the gormless, boring SABRINA!!!!!! Can we please just get rid of her, PLEEZE? Let Dr. O dispose of her, or send her packing back to Juan and the PR…whatever, I don’t care, just leave already!!!!!!
The BLT/LSD thing was quite subtle…it was after Tracy’s failed attempt to win back control of ELQ, and Ava and she were at Kelley’s. Ava said she heard they had great BLT sandwiches, or something to that effect. And Tracy uttered a quick line about LSD….it was very rapid!!!! But you knew that Cartini was doing some clever homage to Heather….as for “Sabrina,” I just could never abide the actress playing her, not from day one. I had a visceral dislike for her, and I don’t think anything, a different storyline or look, would have changed that…just being honest. You know how sometimes you have a program where someone on it just annoys you to no end? That is her…and the disastrous pairing with Patrick made it ten-fold. I guess I just consider her to be totally unnecessary, and the fact that the ptb’s keep pushing her and pushing her on us leaves me cold. I know that most people seem to agree about this, because I have read numerous blogs with like comments, so it’s not just me!!!! Lastly, although I think Sam and Patrick could have once made a good couple, I am really liking her with Silas now…KM and ME just have a great chemistry no matter what character he is playing!!!! Love them together……

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do?
