Former OLTL & GH Favorite Kristen Alderson Makes Life-Changing Move: "Good-bye L.A. And To A Beautiful Chapter In My Life!"

After playing Starr Manning in New York City (since she was a little girl on One Life to Live) and the moving to Los Angeles to play the more grown up version on General Hospital, and then taking on the role of Kiki Jerome after the Prospect Park/ABC dispute, Kristen Alderson has decided to leave tinseltown, and head back to her home on the east coast.

In January of this year, Alderson announced she decided not to renew her contract with General Hospital wanting to experience life, and move on to new adventures. Today on her Twitter account, Kristen said to her fans and followers: “Goodbye LA & to a beautiful chapter in my life. I’ll always love you @duelly87 thank you for being my best friend.”

Thus speculation began from Alderson’s fan on social media, if she and her longtime boyfriend, General Hospital’s Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos) have broken up.

Breakups hurt no matter who ends it. She got me through a bad breakup and I hope she knows I’m here for her too! Maybe we CAM drown the pain at Shake Shack soon. Bring mom & Pooka too!

I have been checking their twitters every day to sorta see what was going on, and was shocked today when I read her tweet about leaving LA! My husband thinks I am crazy ,to be checking tweets from people I don’t even know, but I feel like I know her and Chad. I have watched her since she was 6 or so every day in my living room, and then watched and laughed at all the videos she made with Chad, and I have to say I thought it was a Cinderella story “happy ever after” thing, and was shocked to find out they split, I even cried! Well, they are young and will bounce back, and I wish the best to both of them. Both are fine people!
Good Luck You Two,
Robin

I know! I watched a few of their videos too and they were adorable together! The videos were fun, funny and they were so in sync with each other. Surprised at their split…but I tend to think her move back to New York might be career related too. Seems like she gave herself time to find something else and nothing materialised. Just a thought….

Yes, Rebecca I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Last week she tweeted that she took a “test”, maybe she wants to be a news anchor, or maybe it was a screen test she passed, she did not say but, I am sure she will be great at what ever she does.

Just a thought! Kristen and Chad were so funny together, they could have their own show!

Lol…not sure if non soapers would find them as charming as we do…but as said they really seemed perfect together! I haven’t browsed around Twitter for a long

Cont’d…time and was surprised at the turn of events…

Your too naive! Chad was young and inexperience. Kristen was a test. He passed and moved on. He is out trolling now that he has some experience under his belt and will hook up with the new Miss America that was recently added to GH. Just watch!

No, not naive, just wishing some people could make it work in this world. I have had my share of heartache, and the world is in a bad place now, so just some wishful thinking for a fairy tale ending for once. There are too many divorces and break ups. Now that I am older I see the wrong I did and wish the best for the younger generation. No, not naive at 56 years of age! I have a grandson who is 17 and is falling in love and I worry about him. As far as these soap stars, well, they will be alright. Not being rude, but I am sentimental. I am over this post, I have said my peace. As I said before: Good luck to them.

Wishing her all the best.

Sad to see her go, loved her as Star on OLTL and Kiki on GH. Disappointed that she and Chad broke up it always looked like they were such a fun loving couple, wish her the best.

Kristen has grown up to become a very attractive young woman and a great actress. I loved her on OLTL (RIP) and GH, and miss seeing her. Wish her nothing but the best in the future. I’m very confident she’ll land on her feet and be just fine, both career and relationship-wise.

I watched Kristen and Eddie grow up on OLTL and love them both. I feel like they are my children. (At my age, I can say that about a lot of people.) I wish her nothing but the very best in her future. I hope she and Eddie continue acting.

I really liked Kristen on GH, and thought Kristen & Chad had a wonderful relationship. They seemed so much alike! I think her tweet is mysterious, and without a further comment from either of them, I’m not sure if they broke up or are just living on opposite coasts for awhile. Maybe Kristen just needs some time and space to regain her balance; Chad seems quite content with his job and house. Whatever is happening, I wish both of them peace of mind and happiness.

Thanks for all so many years of wonderful entertainment. PA and thte East Coast can’t wait to get you back. Sorry on the break up……

Wishing her happiness always! I watched her for many years on OLTL and GH, I miss seeing her. Best of luck Kristen on all of your future endeavors!

I hope she fines happiness in her next chapter. She brought me much happiness in her performances on OLTL and GH.

Very mature young lady. I wish her well in her new adventure.

Hope all is well and that you continue acting one day. You are truly a “Starr”

Break-up’s are always hard but I hope she’s not being to hasty in leaving. She’s a beautiful woman and if they don’t get back together she will find another love. Best of luck to both of them.

Kristen is a great talent and still miss watching her everyday. I will never forget the times she sang on OLTL, especially her duet with Cassie DiPaiva, “All That Jazz”, and “The Sun Will Come Up Tomorrow”. Best wishes to her!

Welcome back to NY, Kristen. YES!!!! Good luck in all your endeavors. …love you!!

Godspeed, K…hope to see you soon!

Time to spread your wings and fly Kristen! You are a beautiful, talented and sweet young woman with a HUGE life ahead of you–go get it! We’ll be watching!

This young talent will resurface again. I think Miss Alderson should stage work. So many of our favorite NY-based serial actors earned their chops on the stage, so she would have many mentors and connections.

We may be pleasantly surprised, Iakovos. Plus, there are numerous Colleges/Universities in the NYC area.

Never liked her as Kiki BUT she is a sweetie and I wish her all the luck in the world.

Kristen is a very sweet girl and is genuinely talented. I hope that she gets cast in a play in NYC. I saw her in My Big Gay Italian Wedding a few years ago. She played a part that was extremely different from Starr or Kiki. She was quite good and very funny.
She’ll be okay. She just needs to regroup.

I wish her all the best. I know a lot of the fans feel like Aunts and Uncles to our Starr and Kristen because she grew up in front of us. I don’t know what prompted her decision but I hope that we will see her as a working actor again soon. Xoxox! Love you, Kristen!!!!

I feel like a sister, Liz…LOL. Kristen knows exactly what she’s doing, I’m sure.

So sad to hear about her and Chad. I hope whatever her next adventure is it makes her happy. Wishing her well and thanking her for years of lovely performances. Just wish she could have gone out as Starr rather than Kiki, but will always remember that great final scene she had with Roger which brought all of us OLTL fans great closure.

Sad? Their young, they have their whole lives in front of them. They will both come out smelling like a rose.

she was so cute when she won her emmy! i am sure she will find success in whatever she does!

Kristen will forever be our “Starr.” Plus, I’m extremely happy that she was allowed to grow into such a beautiful young lady on One Life to Live instead of being aged by the Network. That was one of the best decisions ABC and One Life to Live made.
You’re in my prayers, Kristen.

i applaud your decision and wish you the utmost best life has to offer. We (OLTL viewers) watched you grow up and I am confident that whatever you next choose to do you will excel! Thank you for endless hours of entertainment as Starr and laterals KiKi! Your New Hampshire fans love you!

….later as Kiki, not “laterals”. Sorry for the auto correct misprint.

I think Kristen was right to leave GH, and I also think she’s right to leave L.A. behind at this point. The Kiki character never clicked, and the way ABC and GH handled the OLTL/PP debacle left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. The whole disaster of bringing those OLTL actors over and then refusing to let them go at any cost was a big mistake, and all about the ego of the showrunners. You notice Roger Howarth is the only one left, and is playing a recast character who is a bigger bust than Paul Ryan. What a shame. Hope he moves on soon as well.

Good luck to Kristen. I am sure she will do well in life no matter what. Not sure what happened between her and Chad, but something tells me there is a better destiny out there for her. I’m glad she left L.A. before it ruined her/made her into a plastic person. She seems like an East Coast girl at heart.

Very good post Cathy.

All the best to you & your family, Kristen. Always thought you were a good actress even when you were a child.

Best of luck in your move! I’m sad to hear you and Chad broke up but you are young and if it’s true love you will find your way back to each other! I’ve watched you grow up and you are a beautiful young woman! Much happiness.

please tell us ypou are headed back to abc for a oltl reboot!!!

(any one notice the OLTL stars are all out of a job – except for roger)

As so many others have stated, I, too, watched Kristen grow up on OLTL. Her talent continued to grow through the years, and she realized while at GH that there are many more opportunities out there for her to shine. Her singing skills equal her acting skills so, who knows, she could end up on Broadway! And you can’t blame her for wanting to go home. I wish her all the best, no matter where her talents take her.

Miss her And wish her all the best. Wonderful actress and a great role model

Kristen, you were the heart of OLTL along with the rest of the cast and we will miss that show so much. But if you are coming back here to the east coast (Phila, NY) I am hoping you land an excellent job, because your talent is so wonderful. You are the best and don’t let anyone else deter you from your goals. Love you.

Have loved watching her 4 so many many yrs. She was so spectacular on OLTL, & continued 2 b just as awesome as KeKe on GH. I was thrilled that she & Chad got 2get her off the show 2, & was sorry it did not work out 4 them. I really miss seeing her smiling face & gr8 acting every day on TV. I hope she finds what she is looking 4 back on the East Coast & is truly very happy. I do hope & pray we have not seen the last of her acting in the future. Looking 4ward 2 more from her in the near future. God Bless her with her future success.

I hope she keeps acting.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
