Anthony Montgomery To Make His General Hospital Debut As Dr. Andre Maddox!

Some more new faces are coming to ABC’s General Hospital!
You see, it looks like Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) will continue to need some psychiatric care, when on the upcoming November 6th episode (during November Sweeps) , Dr. Andre Maddox will take over Anna’s case from Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom).
Thus enter actor, Anthony Montgomery who will play the new doc, according to Soap Opera Digest.
Montgomery may be familiar to TV audience for his roles on Star Trek: Enterprise and episodic guest star turns on: Grey’s Anatomy, Baby Daddy, House, NCIS. and even a short stint on GH back in 2011!
So. is Dr. Maddox just what the doctor ordered on GH? If he is continues to be part of the canvas, will he paired with Jordan (Vinessa Antoine) who currently has no love interest … or someone else who needs a lover? Longtime General Hospital favorite, Kelly Monaco (ex-Sam McCall), took to her Instagram on Tuesday, September 15 and shared that she is six months, seven days sober from alcohol. Monaco played Sam for 21 years on the ABC soap opera.
Accompanied by a screenshot from the I Am Sober app that tracks the progress of anyone struggling with or trying to not drink, Monaco wrote, “Now the whole 6/7 thing makes sense! #duces.”
Monaco has kept a very low profile since her final episode on General Hospital aired back on October 30, 2024, when Sam had a shocking heart attack and died. It was later revealed that Daytime Emmy nominee, Jeff Kober (ex-Cyrus Renault) injected Sam’s IV with a fatal dose of digitalis.

KELLY MONACO HAS KEPT MORE TO HERSELF SINCE LEAVING GH
This year, Kelly has posted on her Instagram account a total of four times, most recently to celebrate her mother, Carmina’s birthday, who turned 70 just four days ago.
Jumping into the comment thread on Kelly announcing her sobriety were several of her former GH co-stars including Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny, GH) who shared, “Love this. Congrats! 👏👏👏,” Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax, GH) who just posted the hands up and heart emojis, and Lexi Ainsworth (ex-Kristina, GH) who wrote, “So proud of you 👏 badass.”

With this season’s Dancing with the Stars about to kick-off tonight, in which Kelly was the first-ever celebrity winner in season one and returned for an All-Star version, might we hear from her on her picks or thoughts on this year’s batch of contestants?

Soap Alums Remembered During In Memoriam Segment at 78th Emmy Awards; Patrick Muldoon Omitted
During last night’s 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, as it does every year, the television academy paid tribute to those in the industry that they’ve lost over the last year; since the previous Emmys held each year in September.
Starting with an emotional tribute to the late Catherine O’Hara by three of her co-stars, Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy and Dan Levy and Home Alone’s Macaulay Culkin, the segment then dovetailed into Noah Kahan performing “Bridge over Troubled Water” as the faces and the names of those being remembered were shown on the screen.
Daytime soap alums, who either stayed in the genre for the majority of their career, or went on to primetime success as well, were honored including: Anthony Geary (Luke, GH), Hayden Panettiere (Sarah, OLTL, Lizzie, GL, Juliette, Nashville), James Van Der Beek, (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek, and Stephen, ATWT), Gil Gerard (Alan, The Doctors), June Lockhart (Mariah, GH), Patricia Crowley (Mary, Port Charles and GH), Randolph Mantooth (Clay/Alex, Loving and The City, and Richard, GH) and Jon Cypher (Alex, ATWT and Arthur, Santa Barbara).

However, in a glaring omission, the producers of the In Memoriam failed to include Days of our Lives beloved star, Patrick Muldoon who played the OG Austin Reed and also Richard Hart on Melrose Place. Muldoon passed away in April of this year at 57.
After Kahan concluded his performance, a special tribute to Rob Reiner began with Jamie Lee Curtis taking to the stage to share some warm words about her late friend.
In a ironic and sad twist, Curtis shared ,“Last week, Robbie won an Emmy for guest actor in a comedy series for his beautiful work on The Bear, and he now holds the record of 48 years for the longest gap between acting Emmys, which was previously held by his father Carl Reiner, at 37 years.”
Reiner, who along with his wife, Michele Reiner were killed by their son, Nick Reiner, is currently awaiting a decision if he will stand trial. Prosecutors on Tuesday, shared they will not seek the death penalty if he is convicted at trial, but instead life in prison. Curtis said of Rob, “He was generous and kind and funny as hell, and a friend to all. We all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year.” The Emmys then faded to black and went to commercial break.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason and Britt Break Up After Realizing They Can’t Trust Each Other
Trust issues were cited as the reason for the break-up of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) on the Monday, September 14 episode of General Hospital, ending the their complicated romance once and for all.
The episode began with the pick-up of Jason and Britt’s argument over Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) at the Quartermaine boathouse. Britt is in disbelief that Jason continues to take Anna’s side, and that he will not back her up as her witness, as she wants to report Anna’s attempted murder of her to the PCPD.
Jason tells Britt that Anna had been pushed to the brink through the mental torture she’d endured while held captive at Wyndemere, and accused Britt of doing nothing to save her, when she knew exactly what was going on as she was at Wyndemere as well. Britt told Jason that she’d been a victim of Sidwell and Cullum too, and by the time she figured out what was happening to Anna, they had moved her somewhere else.

BELIEF SYSTEM BROKEN
Then, Jason clearly lets Britt know he doesn’t believe her version of what transpired. An enraged Britt fires back at Jason in disbelief, that he is siding with Anna instead of her, when he was on Mount Emerson and saw for himself how Anna was planning to kill her. Suddenly, Britt wants to know if Jason would have helped Anna cover her tracks, if Anna had killed her.
Next, Jason argued that Britt seemingly needs to believe Anna would have killed her when he knows deep down Anna would never have murdered her. Jason thinks Britt is trying to absolve herself of her own guilt and complicity in keeping Anna locked up.
Britt shouts “You need to believe that! Otherwise, you’d have to admit that your friend is unhinged and dangerous. And she would have killed someone you say you love!” Now at a complete impasse, Britt walks out on Jason realizing they don’t trust each other and calls it quits.

PICKING UP THE PIECES
Later, Jason finds Carly (Laura Wright) at the Metro Court, and while in an elevator fills her in that he doesn’t trust Britt, and that as much as he loves her, he doesn’t trust her like he does Carly. Britt is back at the hospital.
A concerned Tristan (Dean Geyer) tries to talk to her about what transpired with Anna. However, Britt clams up and walks away from any discussion.
Now in the General Hospital teaser video for the action on Tuesday, September 15, Jason ask Carly (over beers and a game of pool) “When you lie for a living, how long before you start lying to yourself? Take a look at that below.

I’ll be curious to see how they write the need for another psych doc, when honestly Collins should be more than enough for the show. Why not use HIM?
Right, Kevin. LOL. I guess our good doctor Collins is so overwhelmed by all the ‘disturbed’ cuckoos running amok in PC; he needs the extra help?
Because, frankly, Kevin Collins’ presence does not bring in new viewers in a younger demographic. We all know the most coveted demo is 18-49. Only longtime, aging viewers appreciate & want the veteran characters because they were around 2 decades ago when they were featured more prominently. You won’t find 20-30 somethings lamenting the absence of Lucy Coe or Monica Quartermaine because they haven’t been crucial to any GH plotline in decades. If an aging audience is the only one that watches any soap, it will be cancelled eventually. Soaps HAVE to show that new, young viewers are being added to justify their continued existence. That’s just show business – you have to prove that you appeal to a broad audience; not just an old one.
Kansas Guest, I do understand what you’re saying and yes, soaps are always courting the younger demographic by bringing in new characters played by younger actors. This is not new. However, what is new is the expedient rate in which the ‘in-with-the-new-out-with-the-old’ mentality is being utilized.
Back in grade school I was in the chorus (I was an alto) and we used to sing, “Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other’s gold.” In pursuing the younger demographic, the ABC suits are showing disregard for their older and loyal demographic and they will end up losing them as well as perhaps not being able to garner that age demographic they so actively seek. Moreover, I do hate how young people are underestimated by their elders as far as their tastes and values are concerned. I think young people value the core families just as they value having limits and boundaries imposed upon them because it gives them a sense of safety and security. Moreover, when I was about ten I started watching AMC with my grandmother. You know whom I found to be the most interesting on AMC? Phoebe Tyler, Mona Kane and Charles Tyler—loved their love triangle. These characters were all well over sixty years old at the time. Phoebe really fascinated the hell out of me and she reminded me of my own grandmother who was a terrible snob and bragged of her own blue blood heritage.
So, I think it’s fine to introduce new characters as long as you pay fidelity to your core families and to the long time viewers who love them. It’s a delicate balancing act and one with which Agnes Nixon mastered.
Kansas. in theory, your right. If you dont freshen up the demos, your viewers eventually die. However, soaps are on life support! Your not going to get many 18-49 new viewers. Especially from this guy. He is a no name with no connections to PC. Thats why Kevin is important, he keeps long time viewers around. What they should do is bring in new, younger talent that has PC connections. For example, Scott has a daughter Serena. Bring her on if your looking for youth and younger demos. Y&R does this very well.
And what about Kevin Collins/Jon Lindstrom? Popular GH Vet and awesome actor.
Why have him on for that episode and have Varni promoting it? More bait & switch with vets? Do they really think we’re going to keep falling for that?
Nothing has changed with the new writers, the producer and the network are continuing the same pattern that tanked the ratings. More new characters with no real ties to GH history, popular vets discarded, sometimes dangled for an episode to try and reel people in. It’s insulting. Bad enough Jon Lindstrom is out, a young black psychiatrist joins the staff, why not Tommy Hardy? Oh right. core GH family member.
More new characters, Vets dangled and discarded, Franco/Nina/Kiki as a family unit and Sonny in a wheelchair. A real recipe for success GH. Good luck.

I am all for the hiring of this handsome young man but why must he come in at the expense of Dr Collins? I was enjoying his sessions with Anna. Finola Hughes and Jon Lindstrom are brilliant in those scenes and they have some kind of chemistry which I think deserves further exploration.
I cannot watch the Franco, Nina and Kiki scenes–they are quite dreadful. I cannot believe I ever thought Roger Howarth was this amazing and brilliant talent as I see no inkling of it anymore.
Agree about Howarth and it is so infuriating having to suffer through his nonsense and every attempt to try and make him palatable while a character like Kevin and Jon Lindstrom, and actor who is actually talented is discarded.
Awwwww, Harry!!!!!!! How could you not love that little-big trio? I really enjoy the banter; the strange and ridiculous goings-on in that apartment. Howarth IS amazing, Harry; as is Stafford. They can play anything….turn any role upside down and everywhichway.
Furthermore, which is a miracle of all miracles coming from me, Hayley Erin is coming into her own. Kiki is reborn. Just wait and see, Harry. LOL. Think positively. Would you rather watch Valerie and her ” woe is me for craving and itching for dufus-y Dante who’s in love with Lala-Lulu-head”?
Seriously, though. I think this couple creates a modicum of comic relief; not for everyone, but there are many Franco-Nina fans…..Just as there are many Sonny, Alexis, Sam, Jake etc. fans. We all have our favorites. Franco and Nina are dancing to the tune TPTB are playing. Their personae are evolving, albeit non gratae. I’m sorry you have to suffer through them, Harry. But, LOOK AT ME!!!!! I suffer through Sonny!! Lol. Bye.
Harry, Roger’s problem is Franco. The character sucks! I hated it when it was James Franco and I hate it now! Kill him off and let Roger go or bring him back as a Cassadine straight from HELLena’s lab!

Yes, unavailable. Why can’t fans remember this? Sometimes it’s not an illuminati style conspiracy, the actor has moved on. Plain and simple.
As for the constant salvaging of new characters, some of us remember when Carlyle was a new character who took pages from vets. Just saying. At some point there is a moment of origin.
Separately, is GH spinning its wheels? Yeah. They need to get their storylines sorted, there’s no energy, no forward thrust. No burning reason to see what comes next. As much as I hate the mob storylines the new baddie is the only storyline that has a pennies worth of interest… Burgi is bringing it.
You have absolutely no information or evidence that the actor has “moved on” whatever that means. He has done some other roles, they are not permanent or full time.
And the point is irrelevant because John Lindstrom has repeatedly made it known on social media that he would like to work on GH.
Look around at all the vets who are not on. Have they all “moved on” or have they worked on other projects because they are actors and take work?
Bottom line, vets aren’t a priority for Frank and they are sorely missed. It isn’t an illuminati conspiracy, it is just a fact of what Frank has done to GH.

However, to your statement that vets aren’t a priority for Frank – I’m recalling the Guza years where they were killed off (Quartermaines), shoved into retirement so they died of shock (Anna Lee), sent out of town without a mention (Bobbie), or still living in Port Charles without a mention after Port Charles ended (Lucy). At least we have them in town to complain about not seeing them. And he did bring Finola Hughes (Anna) and now Genie Francis (Laura) back full-time.
As I write this though I recall Ian Buchanan’s Duke getting killed off and it makes me sad all over again….
Matilda is correct–Jon Lindstrom has had some other projects in the past, but as she asserts, he has made it clear that he is available and eager to reprise his role as Dr Collins. I have no issue with a new character being introduced to the canvas when it does not come at the expense of a fan favorite who is in the midst of a psychologically compelling story. I saw some really exciting things transpire with the exchanges between Anna and Dr Collins and the actors really rose to the challenge. I was eager to see more of this exciting psychiatrist/patient relationship which may or may not involve projection and transference, and now I learn there will be no more. How does it make sense to nip that in the bud?
I repeat, Jon Lindstrom has NOT made it clear he has moved on–folks need to stop repeating falsehoods as if it were the gospel.

I’m not familiar with this actor; good looking guy. Does this mean we’e losing Jon Lindstdom again? Why??? I’ve always liked Lindstom and Kevin. Warm, good character with history. Pisses me ok they can’t come up with an interesting story for him and the other vets. Redundant gripe but still valid.
I love him too. If they want to shake things up, bring back Ryan–Kevin’s indentical twin brother, who also happens to be a sociopath.
Ryan could return to his past hobby of stalking Felicia thereby bringing back Mac and Felicia to the front burner. Jon Lindstrom is a brilliant actor and he is a huge fan favorite.
Want to keep Jon but don’t need another sociopath. Been there with Franco.
I understand what you’re saying Rose, but I don’t count James Franco having all this fun while pretending to be a performance artist/psychopath. The character he ad libbed while seemingly mocking the soap opera genre as well as the fans, was never meant to be permanent and never should have been forced onto Roger Howarth who all but gave up when given that ill fitting costume to wear.
Franco was always a cartoon figure and never predicated onto true psychology while Ryan was. And Ryan was brilliantly and realistically fleshed on by JL. You actually believe in this character and he was chilling. His relationship with his twin brother invited pathos, complexity and sucked the viewer in.
Harry…I don’t see Roger’s current portrayal of Franco as psychopath at all. The first few months were excruciating, no fault of RH. The writing of his character was infantile and buffoons. They have since evolved him I.to somewhat of a hero to those he loves…Nina, Kimi and I would bet for Scottie too if he needed him. Lets not forget how he risked his own life to find Carly…though SHE obviously forgot.
I love Franco now. I’m sure they’ll eventually throw some crazy back into his mix but I find him poignant, sincere, protective, determined…and I love him with Kimi and Nina. Hope they keep the characters and develop the three into a family. Roger’s really found his way with this role…
The writers are either lazy or not talented enough! WE come up with good ideas ALL the time! No excuse FRANK! Light a fire!

I agree….depending on how old this new doctor is, we shall see who gets to play kissy-poo with him. I am leaning toward Valerie; just to get all that craving/tension she has for Dante out of her system, once and for all. LOL.
I want the new Doc to be for Jordan. Valerie is too bland and needs to go after Dillon.

Nothing against Anthony, but it’s getting harder and harder to connect with GH because of the continual revolving doors with actors…example, once again losing Jon; newbies who “take up space” when there are fan favorite GH actors we rarely see anymore; and storylines and relationships that don’t seem to have the “old GH feel” or we don’t care about, at least for me. Soooo might appreciate this, but it makes some of RC’s storylines not look so bad…mainly his resurrection of his first Nurses Ball.
And recently it’s harder to even care about commenting because it seems the ABC suits and/or GH writers don’t seem to read or care about many of the concerns/comments from soap fans, at least on MF, starting with the ending of OLTL and AMC. They are going to do what they are going to do.
Sadly, your sentiments seem dead-on, Rose! In their extremely misguided efforts to appeal to all and sundry, the GH showrunners are breaking the cardinal rule for any successful entity and that is, do NOT alienate your base audience…. which is exactly what has happened. It is a hard and fast notion that you must solidly retain your initial target group whilst still finding new and creative ways to expand upon that number. Not an easy task by any means, but what has to be done in order to survive, no matter the product to which one is referring….when this classic model is ignored, businesses suffer diminished market shares, politicians lose elections and television shows notice declining ratings leading to cancellations. That’s just the way it is…..so, keep up the good work, GH, and continue to add more meaningless newbies to the mix and stir up further resentment amongst your most loyal, longtime fans.!!!! Many of us already can barely (if even…..) stomach watching the unrecognizable mess you’ve made of the Port Charles we once knew and loved.
I have mixed feelings about a new character, especially a new psychiatrist when we already don’t see enough of “Kevin”. But I’ve watched soaps long enough to know that there may be multiple other reasons why they aren’t utilizing Jon as “Kevin” for the long term story. I hope this is a solid character instead of another “baddie” and wish Anthony well.
Don’t think Jon Lindstrom wants a regular gig on GH, just the occasional appearance. I welcome the addition of another African-American lead and think he can be successfully paired up with any of the single people on canvas. Just wish they hadn’t set him up to “replace” Kevin, because that makes people not want to be as welcoming of the character as they might otherwise if he were just introduced as another doctor. I’m also relieved that they are expanding the hospital staff rather than adding another mob character!
Melissa, I was wondering if Jon Lindstrom didn’t want a long-term deal. Like I said, there may be multiple things about this we don’t know. But I agree with you, they make it easier not to be a open to a new actor when they don’t tell us things like the other/veteran actor didn’t want the commitment. Exactly right, Timmm!!!! Never in my life have I witnessed more uninspired and unlikeable characters on a single soap at one time….and I have watched dozens of shows, both in daytime and primetime! I truly abhor so many of the players on the current GH canvas that I cannot even consider looking at the program most days! Instead of correcting the utterly annoying tendency of adding more unwanted newbies and also getting rid of the overwhelming amount of deadweight they already have, the showrunners simply keep doubling down on the same mistake….over and over again. Sounds like a recipe for disaster….or cancellation…to me!

Laura and Anna are about all that remain of those quintessential soap heroines we grew up with and adored on GH…..it’s so absolutely tragic to see them misused and abused at the hands of the current showrunners, whilst far too often being shoved aside in favor of much less talented and interesting newbies. No other soap is as guilty of this practice as GH….even though I haven’t regularly viewed other daytime dramas in over a decade, I know that when I do catch a glimpse of any of the additional surviving three shows, I at least recognize a semblance of each program as it once had been…there’s a basic continuity of characters and core families, even if they have dwindled. Y&R still has their Abbotts, Fenmores, Williams, etc. and B&B, their Forresters, et al. In Salem, Days fans can find Hortons, Bradys, DiMeras, plus iconic players like Marlena, Maggie, and Victor. Yet in Port Charles, too many of the faces aren’t remotely related to a Hardy, Webber, Spencer, Scorpio, Drake, Jones, Quartermaine or even Cassadine….all great dynasties of the past decades. (What we seem to get most frequently is “Keeping Up With the Corinthos” ..i.e., Sonny, Sonny, Sonny’s ever-expanding brood of kids, and more Sonny. Or the tawdry ongoing sexcapades of Alexis, who just barely counts as a Cassadine. Hardly inspiring stuff for long-term fans who recall the show in its prime….) At the rate GH is going, ABC should just rename the whole thing since calling it by its traditional title is rapidly becoming false advertising.
My guess is JL is either more expensive to have on contract or not available for a long term story — so enter Dr. Maddox. Ethics should rule out a romance between Anna and her doctor, but his is a soap so who knows. Jordan does need some fleshing out if she is going to continue to be a viable character on the show, so a romance with the doctor could be in order. As long as he isn’t connected to a mob family or Faison in disguise I will give him a chance.

THIS is the problem I have with this show, and all of soaps in general. Why is it that whenever they bring on a black person, it’s AUTOMATICALLY a love interest for the only other black person (or people) on the show??? It’s racist and stereotypical all at once! There are PLENTY of other available men on the show for Jordan and Valerie to interact and hook up with without bringing on some token black man to be their designated love interest.

If TPTB want to be so “forward thinking” by showing same sex couples and normalizing that, then BY GOLLY, they need to be as “forward thinking” with interracial pairings — and having them LAST, and actually be QUALITY relationships. Just lame, and a shame really. When it comes to black and white interracial romance, soaps CHOOSE to still be stuck in the dark ages — as though blacks and whites really aren’t attracted to each other — and that’s SOOOOOOO not true.

I have to disagree with you about Molly and TJ. They’re kids. Kids don’t usually carry that much weight on soaps — and their stories tend to be used simply for filler. Ultimately, most soap fans don’t care about the teens.
That being said, it still doesn’t make any sense why having the same race is a requirement for adult love interests on soaps. It makes absolutely no sense that both Jordan and Valerie are single with no love interest in sight. They are both gorgeous. The idea that GH needs to bring in a token black guy to be with either one (or both!) of them is completely asinine. Any of the white guys currently on the show would be perfectly fine as a romantic interest for either of the ladies, but because they aren’t the same race TPTB are against making them a couple.
You are right; there are fans who were taught that interracial dating is wrong. These same fans were taught that same-sex couples are wrong, too. Yet the writers and producers CHOOSE to showcase same-sex couples. They also CHOOSE NOT to showcase adult black/white interracial couples — and that’s VERY cowardly of them.
You are so right Trophy Lady. This is 2015, waiting around for the next black guy to come to town is not very realistic. Look around us – a lot of people just don’t limit themselves that way anymore. Happiness and passion should be embraced in all its colors.

These soaps continue to perpetuate racist ideas and stereotypes that are completely self-serving to those who are and continue to be racist viewers. There’s no reason why Jordan shouldn’t have already been romantically involved with Julian, Rick, Dante, Jake/Jason, and/or Sonny. They’ve all been closely involved in her story lines. There’s no reason why Valerie hasn’t hooked up with Nikolas, Dillon, Patrick, Michael, or Morgan. They’re all right there in her orbit as well. She slept with Dante, and that didn’t work out. So now what? She’s supposed to wait for the new black guy to get to town to save her? How much do you want to bet that since now Jordan and Valerie are friends, they’ll be fighting over the new black dude once he arrives??? All of those single white dudes in Port Charles, yet the two black ladies want to fight over the ONE black man??? Are you kidding me??? That’s just INSULTING! Lol…Trophy Lady…we’ll have to agree to disagree again. Shawn was with Alexis and Carly. They broke up…as many same race couples do. Point is…they were paired up. Dante and Valerie…who is biracial by the way…was with Dante. They didn’t keep them split them because of race; he’s married. It’s quite well known to longtime fans that Edward Q had a love affair with Ellie May…probably not her name…which escapes me. His grandson Justice was welcomed into the family. As for gay couples…they’ve paired while Lucas with Asian Brad who both felt something for black Felix. And then there’s Milo and Uggg..the nurse…can’t think if her name either. I need sleep…
To top it off we don’t yet know WHO this new guy will be paired with…but we already have one poster on this page who thinks he’ll be paired with a white woman and resents THAT. I guess when we don’t have to have this discussion is when it will be as commonplace As any other couple. Were not there yet in real life, but getting there.
I also disagree about the young love stories. They are very relevant to the fabric of the families-fabric of the show and it’s very forward thinking to portray young love between different races. I applaud them and think Molly and TJ are adorable together. Liz and Lucky started out at the same age…so did Robin and Stone and others. They’re a part of the soap family and very relevant.
Rebecca, LOL, you do realize that the people you mentioned — most weren’t even real couples. Carly and Shawn were NEVER really anything. They did some flirting and that was about it. Alexis and Shawn had more problems than not — and were never really together as a true couple. Dante and Valerie merely slept together. Edward and Mary Mae were OFF SCREEN! We never saw them as a couple at all. Justus just showed up one day. And as for Milo and Epiphany — well, when was the last time you saw them together on screen?
My point still stands: with ALL of the white guys currently available on the canvas, why is it necessary to bring in a black guy for Jordan or Valerie? It doesn’t even matter that some of the white guys are married — characters date, fall in love, get married, and get divorced ALL THE TIME on soaps. That’s what they’re all about. Why doesn’t this happen with the black female characters and the white male characters as couples? Why isn’t it being written that Dante cheated on Lulu, and then realizes that he’s fallen in love with Valerie, wanting to leave Lulu for Valerie? That’s what soaps do all of the time. Why is it now “because he’s married” he can’t be interested in someone else? The same could be said for the Jordan-Julian-Alexis triangle that should’ve been. Why is it because Julian is “involved” with Alexis, he somehow can’t be romantically involved with Jordan, too? Reeks of racist and biased storytelling to me…

The reason why a black character is paired with another black character on a soap is to stop negative comments such as the one made, with all due respect, by one of our fellow-posters. Unless, the writers seek to create tension, drama and suspense, which are desperately needed right now; then , ‘they’ will let ‘sleeping dogs lie’. My thought automatically went to either Valerie or Jordan because I know this is where the writers’s mind is….and, as we have seen, some posters’.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on this…but, it is what it is. We are helpless to change it….no matter how much or how long we protest by voicing our opinions or bang our heads against the wall. We will come out the losers AND sore. Lol.
Hi, Cee Cee. I agree with you. The writers don’t want to tick off fans who are ARCHAIC and RACIST. But, somehow, those same writers don’t feel the need hold off on homosexual relationships. TPTB feel that we are now at a point where EVERYONE should be accepting of those relationships. TPTB even use homosexual relationships of their characters as teaching tools.
Why don’t the TPTB feel the same way about black/white interracial relationships? Why is it okay to push the boundaries with homosexual relationships, but it’s NOT OKAY to do that with the black/white interracial relationships? Instead of acknowledging that Dante and Valerie were attrActed to each other physically…and made a connection being both brought up by single moms…you’re not happy and think it’s racist that he didn’t fall madly in love with Valerie and leave his wife for her! Dante loves Lulu…he cheated on her out if despair. Period. Now that’s not to say that down the road, when Lulu finds out that he cheated k. Her and lied about it that this couple may have real troubles…perhaps she’ll turn to Dylan, and if they’re really over perhaps there’ll be a Dante and Valerie then. But to suggest Dante should have immediately left Lulu for hsf? That’s not Dante. He loves his wife.
Jordan has barely been on. Its not like we see her on a regulAr basis. When she was on canvas regularly, she already had a complex history with Shawn. Now that she seems to be getting more airtime, let’s see who they pair her with. It shouldn’t matter who as long as it’s a dynamic couple.

Not many couples on GH have been involved in love triangles or have left each other for some one else. You’re suggesting that and annoyed that one of the already established couples haven’t brwoken up or fallen in love with one or one or both of these two black actresses. That would be just as nonsensical if they broke up for ANY character…unless the couple was in trouble to begin with.

My point is GH hasn’t historicAlly been an integrated show. Its evolving with diverse ethnicities and alternative ifestyles. But in SPITE OF that history, they’ve had interraciAl affAirs and relationships. Valerie is the child of an interracIAl relationship.))
We haven’t seen an ongoing mixed couple because of the lack of diversity. If the show hopefully continues and the ethnic backgrounds grounds of the actors vary more and more, they’ll be more couples of every type, ut to suggest that an establishex couple split for the sake of firming such a couple is not the point of storytelling.
And…JordAn came to town with her own history; her son and Shawn. Valeri.e fell in live with a married man, a white man, abd they paired her with another, Dylan. Dylan, by the way, hasn’t had a relationship since he’s been on, either. Anna doesn’t, Lucy doesn’t…currently Tracy doesn’t. Ahhhhh…but Monica does…with a black judge. Forgot about them!
There are many characters who we barely see. But they’re out there…including an increasing amount of interracial couples. With all the continuing strides GH has made, there will probably be front and center couple’s, aside from Molly and TJ, which I personally count, soon enough.
Its not racist. MOST couples are together that share the same race. No one is saying they cannot cross date but its just the way it is! As far as your two choices to match them with white men. Jordan was with Shawn. So maybe Jordan only dates black guys! Valerie, we’ve only seen her with Dante. Although she is mixed race, maybe she only likes white men. Your assuming the opposite of others. In other words, your no different than than they are, you just have a different opinion in which you are certainly entitled to.

I wasn’t clear in my post. The couples I listed are examples of integrated couples…whether they’re on canvas a lot or not. Point is GH has had such couples. Some broke up, some aren’t seen as much..like many of our characters.
By the way, myself and another poster pointed out that many times a black person will feel just the opposite as you abd resent pairing a black actor or actress with a white actor. See one if the comments above. Its still an issue for many, right or wrong.
