On Halloween night, October 31st, former One Life to Live fan favorite Nathaniel Marston (Ex-Al and Ex-Michael) was involved a serious car accident that has rendered him in critical condition.  Marston’s mother, Elizabeth Jackson has been posting updates on her facebook page on her son’s medical status throughout the last 24 to 36 hours, and it is has been heartbreaking.

Jackson first reported:  “Please pray for my son Nathaniel Marston. He was in a car accident last night and is in the intensive care on life support. Back and neck broken in several places. Other internal injuries. Please pray that he will recover and walk again.”

For those who were concerned that alchocol or drugs were a part of the cause of Nathaniel’s car crash, Elizabeth related to his fans, friends, and long time colleagues: “Just spoke to highway patrol and tribal police. In case rumor mill gets going. Nate was sober according to cops.  Waiting to speak to Dr.  Please pray that Nate does not end up a parapalegic … neck broken and fracuted in neck vertabrea 3,4,5,6, and 7. Shoulder broken along with all ribs. Collapsed lung and pnenoma. Please please pray for him”

However, the updates became more intense when Elizabeth posted: “Spoke to Nates Dr. In all likely hood if he lives he will be paralyzed from the neck down and will not breathe without a ventilator machine. Oh my God please give me strength.”

LATEST UPDATE:  On Monday afternoon:  Jackson posted an update to her facebook page which said that Nathaniel went into surgery – stating:  “Nate was able to decide and express very clearly this morning that he is not going to give up without a fight,” she wrote. “He is going into surgery at 3:00 this afternoon. The goal is to get him breathing on his own. The Dr said that there is a good chance that he will recover the use of upper body movement and a slim chance that he will walk again. Recovery will take 2 or more years but where there is life there is hope. Nate has never walked away from a fight and he is determined to win this one….  Both Nate and I appreciate your love prayers and support.”

Marston is dear friend’s whith his former One Life to Live cast mate Michael Easton who posted on his facebook page, a photo of himself with Nathaniel relating: “Please say a prayer for Nathaniel.”

Nathaniel started his soap career as Eddie Silva on As the World Turns.  He next played Al Holden on One Life to Live from 2001-2003, and then after much outcry was brought back to the series as Michael McBain from 2004-2007.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nathaniel and his family at this time.   On-Air On-Soaps will continue to bring you updates on the situation as they warrant.  Please share your thoughts and prayers for Nathaniel in the comment section below!

He did, Mo. So young. It seems that he has been under a dark cloud for a while. Poor guy. I remember him being fired from OLTL due to his arrest after a brawl in Manhattan.
I pray that his luck will turn for the better and be whole again. No one deserves this….I hope he’s not in pain. And, his poor mother must be a mess!!

Yes, he has had a lot of probs, some I would say were of his making, but no one deserves this. His mother posted that he did well in the surgery. She sounds very frantic indeed, no surprise.

Hopefully she knows that a lot of people hope he gets better. I didn’t watch OLTL when he was on, but I hope he can improve.

When I hear news like this about strangers, my heart always goes out to the victim and their families. My heart is doubly affected about Nathaniel. I only knew him from his work but he did such a fantastic job of bringing his characters to life. He did a great job with Al but I was partial to Michael McBain. He truly made that character come alive so I guess in some way I feel like I knew him even though I didn’t. I truly feel for his poor mother, family and friends. He’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.… Read more »

Omg this is horrible. I pray for him to get better, at the same time it would not be great for him to be completely paralyzed and not be able to breathe without a ventilator machine! I send prayers to him, his mother and all of their loved ones!

I get that. It wouldn’t be much of a life.

What caused the accident? Was anyone else involved? So said any way you slice it. I believe he was married.

I don’t think his mother has said how it happened, just that police are saying that alcohol wasn’t involved.

Marston appeared as Eddie Silva on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns from 1998 to 2000. The role earned him a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for “Outstanding Male Newcomer.” He next portrayed Al Holden on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live from 2001 to 2003, and then played Dr. Michael McBain on the series from 2004 to 2007.

From her latest post, it sounds like there is a good chance he will have upper body movement and a slim chance he will walk again. Recovery will be 2 or more years.

Doubt spell checking is the concern on this post? Not really right up there with the sadness of this particular board.

So right, Clh. It’s tragedies like this that should make us stop and realize what’s really important…critiquing spelling whilst reading of Nathaniel’s plight is beyond comprehension.

So many times over the decades, when my soap addiction was in full swing and (sadly) all-consuming, I would agonize and worry over many plotlines and the predicaments of the characters for whom I cared. I was so wrapped up in the story, I invested so much energy, effort, time, and emotion. Even at this site, I will sometimes provide impassioned views on something I like or something I don’t like that is going on in the soaps. Bottom line: all of these efforts are just ridiculous… What is happening in the life of Nathaniel Marston is REAL. He is… Read more »

Sherri Shepherd Loses Her Wig During Talk Show and Says, ‘The Show Must Go On’

When you’re live in front of a studio audience anything can happen, and this time it happened to talk show host and comedian, Sherri Shepherd (although it had to be staged).

During Tuesday’s episode of her syndicated show, Sherri, Shepherd was discussing the recent viral video clip of pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts’ wig slipping off while in the middle of her sermon, but continuing on in spite of it, and just delivering the rest of her presentation wig-less.

What America then found out is that Sherri would experience the same fate, when she shared her own experiences with wigs.

Sherri explained, “Here’s the thing, when you wear wigs, you are trusting the person that put the wig on, that it’s going to be secure. The thing about wigs is when it starts sliding, you can feel it slide. Because you will start out with it down here, and all of a sudden, it starts making its way up. Especially if the wig weighs a lot. And all you can do is what Sarah Jakes did, which is pull it forward.”  The talk show host added, “You can’t throw down the mic and walk out and go fix it. The show must go on.”

However, as Shepherd was talking about Jakes and wigs, she jumped out of her chair, and as she did her wig fell straight down hanging on the band that attached it to her head.

Once the wig completely fell off, the camera went to the audience who seemed apparently shocked and thought it was very funny.

Being that Shepherd is a comedian, it was clear this has to be a spot in the show that was determined ahead of time.  Nevertheless, it got the reaction of the day on mainstream media and in the talk show world.

Watch the bit featuring Sherri and her wig below.

What did you think of Sherri going wig-less? Did you find the moment funny? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

OLTL Alum Tuc Watkins Opens Up On His Sobriety and the Importance of Camaraderie

He made his mark to soap opera fans as David Vickers on One Life to Live (1994-1996, 2001-2013) and as Bob on Desperate Housewives (2007-2012), since then Tuc Watkins has been featured and starred in numerous television, motion pictures and stage roles.

Most recently, Watkins starred opposite Neil Patrick Harris in the Netflix streaming series Uncoupled, the film and stage adaptation of Boys in the Band, and recently on stage in the AIDS-based drama, The Inheritance.

Tuc, who came out on The Marie Osmond Show back in 2013, is the father of twins via surrogacy, and is currently in a relationship with film, TV and stage actor, Andrew Rannells.  Earlier in his career, many warned Watkins that it could be detrimental to him, if he played gay roles.  However, in the years that have followed, Tuc has proved them wrong taking on some of the most prominent LGBTQ roles out there and earning critical praise for his performances.

A few months ago, in March, Tuc took to his Instagram account to share a before and after photo of him 4 years before he got sober, and 4 years after he got sober with a heartfelt and inspiring message.

Watkins expressed: “If your drinking is making you uncomfortable, tell a sober person. Any sober person. That’s what I did. I don’t remember what I said to him that day. And I don’t remember what he said to me. But I remember the way he made me feel. He made me feel like I was going to be okay. It was the last day I drank. October 28, 2018. I got sober because alcohol was ruining my life. I stay sober because my life got better. #sobriety #recovery”

A post shared by Tuc Watkins (@tucwatkins)

In a new article on Watkins from Queerty, EastSiders creator and star, Kit Williamson delivered a statement to the LGBTQ outlet about his experience working with Tuc and his consistent support for other gay artists.

Photo: ABC

Kit shared: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Tuc three times now. On the third season of EastSiders, my new series Unconventional, and the indie film Retake. Tuc is a star in the literal sense of the word, shining light on and lifting up the people around him, and he is as talented and funny as he is dashing and kind.  I was a fan of his before I became a friend, and I have seen firsthand how committed he is to supporting other queer artists and making art that matters.”

As pride month approaches in just a weeks time, Watkins shared on Queerty’s coverage on his Instagram: “Thank you @Queerty for elevating the LGBTQ+ community. 🏳️‍🌈 For highlighting the differences in our backgrounds, identities, and experiences, all through the lens of camaraderie.”
