GENERAL HOSPITAL: Just Look At What Facial Recognition Software Can Do!

Courtesy/ABC
Will Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) nifty new software program be the answer to all of General Hospital fans long-suffering angst? Will everyone in Port Charles finally find out that “Jake” is really Jason (Billy Miller)? The answers seem to be on their way starting this week on the ABC soap opera.
When we last left off, (at the end of GH’s Friday cliffhanger) Spinelli needed to run back to Portland because Ellie has been injured. So, he tells Carly (Laura Wright) at the hospital that he has to leave, but he has the facial recognition software running and it should be just about completed which would give answers to “Jake’s” true identity. Spinelli tells Carly to deliver the laptop to Sam (Kelly Monaco) once the program is done running and completed.
But what Spinelli and Carly do not see is that the recognition software is morphing the skeletal x-rays from “Jake’s” face (Billy Miller) to Jason’s original face (Steve Burton)! Now it looks as if Carly will be the first person with this explosive information, just as Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) is set to walk down the aisle with “Jake”. What will she do with it?
According to Laura Wright in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, when Carly stumbles upon Jason’s face in the software, she teases: “It almost knock her over. It’s just, “Wow, Oh, my God! It is not at all what she’s expecting and she can barely speak!” Carly will want to get to “Jake” right away with the intel, but will she get to him? This is a soap opera afterall, and there will probably be some massive roadblocks in her way!
Watch the final moments of Friday’s GH cliffhanger below with the pickup happening today! Tell us: what did you think of the facial recognition software as the way to reveal the identify of “Jake”? Do you think Carly will succeed in telling “Jake” who he is before his wedding to Liz? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
Something will come up…Carly will either get stuck in an elavator, or She is kidnapped or Sonny has a crises-he ran out of bacon grease to slick back his hair…lol
HaHa, Jimmy. Perhaps, you can answer this for me….what is the difference between Julian and Sonny? Is one person better than the other, morally? They are cut from the same cloth, yes? So, where does Carly get off telling Olivia that Julian is a loser father for Leo? Ummmm, didn’t she just marry, for the umpteenth time, a subway mouse from Bensenhurst turned rat killing for bigger cheese as payoff? Or bigger pizza slices , LOL. I ask, why is Sonny constantly put on a pedestal?
Then, the Oh-Wise-One himself told Olivia the same hypocritical words. What’s up with these writers? They are continuing to carry the torch for almighty Sonny; clearing the path to his altar; paying him homage with adoration. Let’s all light a candle for this sainted superstar. Amazing!!
Still have to watch this, but perhaps it just further reflects the hypocritical view Carly & Sonny have of themselves?
Funny…you made me think of that popular utube video with the mouse carrying a piece of pizza…maybe its Sonny…lol…cant stand those hypocritical Corinthos bunch…wish Days and GH could do a crossover with Ben fleeing Salem and he arrives in PC to knock off a few characters…would love to see Sonny wearing one of those ties around his neck and Carly too..lol
@jimh( leave it to beaver)
Lol, Jimmy. That is exactly why I said it…..are you a New Yorker? That rat actually made the news, here in NYC area. I bet it was Sonny in disguise. Ha! Later.
please please no delays. The reveal of Jake’s identify should have happened looooong ago.
This effect was spectacular! I dont think Carly will spill the beans. I think Robin will have something to do with the reveal? You know whatever happens it will happen at the wedding! Liz will NOT have a nice Thanksgiving. Speaking of Liz, wouldnt it be funny if little Jake busted into Sonny’s hospital room and claimed he was taking over Port Charles’s territory!
I agree, Timmm. Finally, my interest is tapping me on the back. I like the suspense…will Carly spill? Will she keep the life-changing news to herself until she feels is the right time? sKnowing myself, I could never keep news like that to myself. But, I’m a real person; not a puppet.
Well, Timmm. How do we know that little Jake does not have a brain belonging to an adult? An evil adult, at that…maybe Stavros. Wasn’t he a child-like spoiled brat? By the by….how do we know Helena did not whisk Nik away and replaced him with a fake?
One never knows…Helena is mighty powerful. Hey, Robin could have performed the brain transfer. It would not be so shocking to have little ‘Damien’ attack Sonny….they’re almost the same size, anyway.
love this prediction for Little Jake. could happen! I think he’s ready.
nope, I think she will be kidnapped by the new commissioner to help out Ava with the baby custody hearing.
I thought this was a great device to reveal the truth. It was exciting to watch. Very cool! Long Love GH!!
Yes, it was, Mister Media. Very clever, indeed. This is why I think Liz, Nik , Hayden and the unwilling participant, Laura will escape the ‘hangman’. No one will be the wiser. Well, maybe??
OK, but why in the world would Spinelli leave his lap top running a very important and confidential program in the middle of a hospital waiting area? I don’t care that he left it with Carly, she was too distracted talking to Sonny’s medical staff to even care about sticking close to the computer. If she really cares for Jake as a friend she would have stayed glued to that computer throughout, no matter how long it took. It’s like when people recap deep dark secrets in public spaces where they can be easily overheard.
You’re right of course, but I suppose the justification could be made that Spinelli never imagined that the results would reveal anyone familiar who would be recognized and would thus be of litte interest to anyone who viewed them.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!# 🙂 😉
Yes, FINALLY, jeremy. I just hope and pray it is the end!! But, as intimated above, we could be facing more useless and senseless pit stops until the final destination. Who knows how long that will take. It’s been how long? We’ll have a new President and Jake will still be asking, “who am I?”
He’ll be up there with John Black in the amount of times he’s asked this question this month!
@Ces.
HaHa, Ces. Too funny! John Black! Our favorite. How long has it been for him? Finding his elusive parents is all in his head. Sometimes I think I see his weird facial expressions and hear his husky voice in my sleep….whispering, “Hey, Doc.”
HA! Ces. I watched Days off and on about 25 years ago. Back then he was still wrestling with his identity.
Now we see him on Ancestor, com, and no one, not even Marlena, gives a damn.
This was incredibly well done.
I saw the promo on Twitter and it looks like we fans are finally going to be rewarded.
But poor Patrick!
Now he knows how Sparkle Pony felt.
Right? It was ingenious, harrylime.
Who knew they looked so much alike!
@Timmm.
I actually think it’s an illusion….the imagination works wonders. Billy is the SUN, Steve is the DARKNESS.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS STORY HAS BEEN DRAGGED OUT WAY TOO LONG, AND I BET TODAY WILL STILL NOT SEE ANY HOPE……..
That photo merg was well done.
there is free software, not the best, but to play with to do similar. It’s not easily done, but fun.
It has a lot to with speed so need need a good connection..
and not as good as studio done, for sure ..
I did not care for a computer reveal, hoping for something more climactic but at least the reveal is near, and that is good.
I agree, Su. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Carly will mess everything up. Darn!!
Well the timeline is going to take a while. The actual wedding starts Wed I think and lasts about a week (I saw a Varni comment about it). I’m very sad about JT leaving at this time. I think from the preview Robin has NOTHING to do with it. Maybe Patrick calls her after since she told him Jason was dead.
I’m more curious why Robin is being held prisioner–only because I do now want to see Jason with Sonny or Sam.
I have yet to see GH today… I’m sure Carly’s reaction will be priceless….
The Lulu /Halloween reveal on that Haunted tugboat should be equally interesting.
Hello, Fanny, sweet lady:
I do not want to put a damper on your excitement, but by the time you get this post, you will have, hopefully, already watched the Lulu-Dante-Valerie revelation.
Personally, I found it to be extraordinarily commonplace and redundant….reminiscent of Carly/Franco wedding. It was not surprising, but expected. I predict the same old, same old for the up-coming nuptials between Liz and Jake.
Franco / Carly reveal was 10 times better! This Lulu is not good! He reaction was horrible. You probably didnt watch GH when Julie Berman was Lulu. She was 10 times better! Anyway, what I hated the most was Lulu’s standoff with Val Chops! The acting was horrible and Lulu didnt smack the witch upside her head! Seriously, if you were in Lulu’s shoes wouldnt you want to slap the bitch who screwed your husband in YOUR bed. Weak, very weak!
@CeeCee sweetie,
You R correct dearest… Unfortunately the writers missed the “BOAT”
on this one. I didn’t feel or see the emotional devastation one would
feel during such a shocking revelation… Dante looked half asleep at
the helm, Lulu was crass, Val-chops tearful, Dillon constantly
threatening Dante…was semi glad it happened…as if he’d planned
it this way. Paul had told him earlier never to give up on the woman
you love…
Most likely the same thing will occur with Jake’s unveiling
hoping there R a few good aftershocks after such a weak quake.
We still have Hayden and possibly Robin…. Surprisingly Carly chose
to think things through, get as many facts together before blowing
everything sky high. They can ALL tell Jake he’s Jason till the cows
come home but if he doesn’t remember or feel what they feel, than
right now not much can change for HIM. Till next time Sweets.
@Timmm.
Hey, there, Timmm.
Of course Franco’s surprise ‘revelation’ was better….that’s why the repeat of the same does not phase anyone. IT HAS BEE DONE. So incredibly amateurish. I’m beginning to think Su is right about the new writing team. What? Do they copy from one another?
Now, let me tell you that I left the room to get an apple without pausing. That’s how unimpressed I was. Lol. Am I whining? Ah, who cares, right? Someone will comment expounding how ungrateful and bitchy I am. Later, my friend.
@Fanny.
I cannot top what you just wrote, my love. It is perfection. Great expose’, pardon the pun!
Julie Berman would have pulled this off. She would have portrayed a betrayed wife whose worse fears about marriage (after watching what happened to her parents’ great love story) had been realized.
Instead, we get mini-Lulu marching around the docks in her five inch heels while in a state hysteria. She just seemed like an angry muppet.
@Timmm.
Lol, Timmmbo. I think I once told you what I would do if my husband ever cheated on me. I would do a ‘Bobbit’ on him. The woman? Just look her up and down as the piece of trash she is. I would not dirty my hands.
I do believe that Valerie’s embarrassment will last her a lifetime. I just cannot believe Dante’s excuse. ” I thought you were cheating on me”! Really? Lulu’s ‘heartbreak’ acting got better…she did ok. And, yes, Juliw was still on when I started watching. So, I know what you mean.
I hope Lulu finds new lodgings….the idea of living in the place my husband did another woman would make my skin crawl.
Also, the truth needed to come out, but what Dillon did was really low and crass. What does that tell us about his persona? His integrity? The Apple does not fall far…..
What a complete jerk! So what foes he think? That Lulu will now go running to him? Such child’s play. There is probably a sandbox behind the scenes and the writers carry their little beach pails and shovels.
By the way, I never thought Dillon was a looker. Now with that Brylcreemed head ; I don’t know, even worse!…..maybe if he parted his hair on the other side? HaHaHa!!
That is one AMAZING computer program! It even knew that Jake had a mullet before his reconstructive surgery…
Haha! Good one!
That is so hilarious, Alan!!!!
Carly will be delayed but she will get the information to Jake/Jason. I can’t wait to see Liz get her bubble burst. All those secrets she is hiding. And it doesn’t just affect her. It directly affects her kids and Jason’s kids. She is a good woman overall, I truly believe that, but her obsession with Jason grew out of control. She needs that ugly reality check. I am looking forward to seeing what happens.
Yeah, Mateo. Liz looked a little apprehensive as Carly told Jake she wanted a private conversation with him. But, Carly is not aware that Liz knows who Jake is. There is a chance no one will ever find out Liz even knew the truth. Unless Nik, Hayden and Laura come forward with the info. And, by doing so, they will shoot themselves in the foot. I guess it depends where TPTB want to go with it. Oh, what a tangled web…..
@CeeCee Love…you know Liz is not walking away unscathed …
Unfortunately all of it her own doing, as if standing in front of an on
coming freight train is going to miss it’s target. Liz, Liz, Liz …. Misery
will be the only thing she gets from all the lying and covering up she’s
done since she found out Jakes true identity. Will it have been worth
it in the end.
is this going to be a knowing he’s Jason Quartermaine, with no memory coming back?
and Liz wll have to delay the wedding… and can she get out of this unscathed
well… Nicholas should stand up for her… and swear Hayden and mom Laura to secrecy… to let Liz off the hook
@Fanny.
No, dear friend, nothing is ever worth over losing one’s soul. Sadly, we find such people in the real world. I agree, Liz should pay for the misery she is causing for everyone. But, so much evil and crime is swept under the rug in soaps.
Why does Carly have to be in the center of every thing? I hope Liz herself stops the nuptials to tell jake the truth, unlickly though, still I they make Carly the center of this story I’ll puke .!!! And the computer reveal was neat I liked it. Glad this story is finally playing to its conclusion, I hope Liz moves on, jake isn’t worth it neither is nick so hope she gets someone new.
Carly is the lead actress on GH. She therefore should be involved in the major stories. She’s been the most interesting character on GH for 20 years. I love Laura Wright!
I agree and her and Jason are best friends!
hi Aria..
Of course Carly would be involved with Jason’s reveal.
Jason and Carly were very close, much like brother and sister..
Sam is not right for Billy/Jason, I hope they do not get back together..
Billy Miller is a heap of charisma and the Sam character is much like a blah stone..
Sam will drag Jason into blah land with her.
I want Json free..
Jake will be reborn into a Jason, he needs to be free to work on his life not be in a love triangle.
Much like brother and sister, su? I thought Jason and Carly had been lovers for a while, back in the day. Golly, I would hope brothers and sisters would not do that. Ewwww. Was I misinformed?
hi CeeCee,, right, back in the day love stuff with fake sex! lol
but now, brother & sister type of whatever..
I just want Jason free of Liz and Sam 🙁 poor guy being stuck with either of them.
Hi, Su.
Yes, we have always agreed on that, Su. Jake/Jason should be untethered for a while; no tug-of-war games. These particular hens will peck him to death.
Hi Aria…I actually love Jake-Jason and Sam together. I think they have great chemistry and fit like a glove. Or…black leather jacket!
Carly will get delayed somehow– and although it is a standard soap opera device to have someone come in and break up the wedding with the “news” whether it be Carly, Hayden or Robin, I am hoping that Liz will have the decency not to go through with it, and bolt from the altar– please give Liz a little wiggle room for redemption and not marry a married man. I want the truth to come out finally, but lets not do it at the wedding –let Liz do the the decent thing and then have the truth come out afterwards.
My biggest problem with Liz’s lie is she hurt Monica. I thought she could have told her that Jason is alive.
I love how people complain about Spinelli’s tech when this is the show that has cryostasis chambers for Jason and hoe Robin can bring the dead back to life..
LOL so true at least the facial reconstruction is based in reality since they got Jason’s X-rays pre and post surgery.
Lol, Martin….and, mess with people’s brains!!
Now Carly, you were supposed to give that damn thing to Sam! And why is Sam just hanging out when Spinelli left her messages to pick up? Carly alwsys gets the big reveals but I guess I should be glad she didnt leave it on the table for snot face Liz to steal. can we hurry this up already?
These people on soaps NEVER answer their damn phones!
Neither does one of my sisters, or her husband, Timmm. Very frustrating.
sure don’t. Stupid because Sam was waiting to hear from Spinelli. Anything to drag this out further and make Carly the hero again.
Right? Ahhh, ces. I must sound like a broken record by now; but these writers are testing our intelligence and what’s within the realm of reason. Perhaps I was expecting too much from this new team.
I know you notice these subtle things, ces…….so;….have you noticed that Sam also wears black to bed? Some sleeping gear, eh? Leggings and wife-beaters.
Boxers are so much more comfy. LOL
CeeCee, you always crack me up!! Sam’s bedtime wear cracked me up!! How does Dr. Drake get in therrr? lol!!! 😉
I just think someone else should play the hero once in awhile. Geez… let’s drag this out until Friday; not sure I can handle one more minute of that nauseating duo Liz & Jake DOE.
Well, ces, the feeling is mutual, since you just cracked me up…about, Patrick’s maneuvers? Between Sam, Summer, and “hey Doc”, we’re all set.
Ah, yes, Liz and Jake! This is so not Billy Miller. He capitulates to Liz’s every psycho whim.
I want to give Laura Wright/Carly a big BRAVO!
She is a phenomenal actor!
Ok, y’all…listen up! I have been saying that Kiki will get into a car accident for, ummmmm, forever?!?!?!
Will we find out Nina is her bio mother, now? Will Kiki need plasma/blood which only Nina can provide?
Will the computer with Jason’s/Jake’s digital image be destroyed? Will the wedding be postponed because Carly is hurt? Will Carly and Sonny share the same hospital room? The same bed?
Unfortunately drunks rarely get hurt; just the victims. Alas, Kiki is A-Okay and on her couch … sigh …..
Yeah, how true! I keep calling it perpetually wrong concerning Kiki. She is crying out for help. Morgan is doing a bit of a turn-around. He is trying with her…..Which brings me to this query; what happened to his possible bipolar disorder?
@CeeCee Sweetie… I’m glad you brought that up…Morgan possibly
being bipolar, seems to me (new) writers thought if ignored it may go
away… Really!!
Right, Fanny….why introduce a topic, and a very delicate one at that, and not pursue it? I bet they have other ideas for Morgan. But, I just can’t picture him doing anything constructive or relevant because I can’t get the lascivious image of him out of my head. I cannot take this character seriously. This is how the previous writers molded him. It will take a while and something monumental to change Morgan’s guise and how he is perceived. I must see pigs fly to sway me, my lovely lady.
Liz should tell that her and Nicholas knew about the identify of Jake all along &they need to pay for all the people they hurt &all the lives they turned upside down !! It is way over due Sam&Jason need to have their Family back together again & They have Great chemistry Love Them Together!!!
Laura Wright just may be the best actress in the business. She gave one excellent performance on Monday’s show. It was as close to perfect as it can get.
I love Laura; not the character.
She surely is the best actress, besides Maura. Now, I see why she was nominated. I hope this is Laura’s year because she is outdoing herself. Love her impeccable skill.
Just what I wanted to see. SB on my screen NOT ! glad I don’t watch any more.
yet you post here. lol..
I read the boards, .I want to know if there is any reason to watch. So far I see none. .I will see Robins return, Tristan’s and if not tooo disgusting Genie Francis. maybe just on you tube. no one on the show is of intrest to me anymore. All evil killers.
I don’t care how much “prove” they show, Jake Doe will never be Jason Morgan. I always wanted Franco to be the real Jason!
No one is saying Jake Doe will be Jason Morgan. Jake is Jason in name only. Don’t you know that, Gilbert? No actor, regardless how good he/she is, can ever duplicate another’s idiosyncrasies. And, I doubt that is what the writers are trying to do. His head injury will accommodate the ‘problem’ perfectly. Ain’t fiction great??
what i hope happens is that liz gets dumped on and him and sam find away to fall back in love and stay married/ as much as i love patrack you can never be fully happy as you were with your firsf love/ its never gonna be the same as what you loved about your first love, some thing will aways get in the way of your second love u never forget. awful hard to move on cause your always wondering if your doing the right thing or do u feel like your cheating w/ your new love huh

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? Let us know via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.
Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.
Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL
Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.
A VENGEFUL PAST
As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.
On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.
Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!
So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
