Wilson Bethel (Ex-Ryder) continues his hot primetime television career with news this week that he is set to play part of a core family that Annalise (Viola Davis) counsels in the second half of the season of ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder!

According to TV Line,  Bethel, the former star of The Young and the Restless and Hart of Dixie, has landed the role of Charles Mahoney, the Ivy League-educated son of Wallace played by Adam Arkin.  Wallace is said to be a Warren Buffet type who’s quiet and observant, but knows how to command a room when he wants.  And looks for Roxanne Hart to play Sylviam, the tough yet distinguished and smart socialite mother of sexy Charles!

Look for these three to make their first appearances  on HTGAWM when the series returns starting on February 11th.  In addition, the report goes on to say that it is possible Bethel and his on-screen parents may carrying over into season three once the show is greenlighted with an official renewal.

HTGWM showrunner Pete Nowak previewed on how the new trio play into story: “The Mahoney family plays a really big part in a legal case in our last six episodes. They’re very wealthy people. It’s a murder case, and it involves Annalise in a big way.”  One other thing Nowak noted was that the Mahoney clan is in no way connected to any of Annalise’s prior clients, or to the people in her inner circle.

So, what do  you think of Wilson’s new role on How to Get Away with Murder? Will you be checking him out on the series?  Comment below!

Good, bad or indifferent, soaps are the best platform for an actor to practice his or her craft.

Many actors can make it in daytime but have a hard time crossing over to movies and television.

Absolutely. I dont hold a higher regard than people who act on soaps or do theater. It is nice to see Hollywood open their eyes and realize how tough it is to read so much dialogue everyday and be different! These actors are so gifted! Thats why I put soap starts a little bit higher on the chain than theater people because EVERYDAY a soap star has to do a whole new script and remember why he or she got to this part in their characters life.

Marcus Coloma On His GH Exit: “I Don’t Know Why That Decision Was Made, But I Don’t Feel Any ill Will and I Didn’t Feel I Got Fired”

This week, GH fans saw Adam Huss returning to the ABC soap opera as Nikolas Cassadine to finish out the rest of the scenes originally intended to be played by Marcus Coloma who ended his three-year run on the show a tad early.

As has been previously reported, Coloma came down with Covid-19 as his final tape days neared, and a decision was made for him to not return to finish off his last run of episodes.

With all the rumors and stances taken by everyone involved, Coloma was the special guest on this week’s episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast hosted by Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson and discussed his departure from the long-running daytime drama series.

Marcus expressed that when he took the role on GH, he was excited to be in that kind of environment (working on a soap opera), and only signed on for three years.  However, as time went by it became more difficult to reconcile leaving when his contract was up, sharing: “You fall in love with the crew and everybody along with it. So, two and a half years in, this decision that was so clear in the beginning is getting complicated.”

The actor added that while, “I knew the end was coming, it wasn’t like GH was saying, ‘Hey, Marcus, we want you to stay.’  There was no negotiation … and all I can say to that is I don’t know why that decision was made, but I don’t feel any ill will and I didn’t feel like I got fired. It just felt like … there was maybe an understanding that I was going to be there for three years. The big surprise is how much it hurt. Even though I knew I was going to leave.”

In the end, Coloma reflected that this may have concluded as it should, adding, “I really do have some big goals and those goals would have never been realized if I would have stayed. That’s not to take anything away from GH because I admire everything about it.”

Watch the episode of That’s Awesome featuring Coloma below.

Then weigh-in, what do you think of Marcus’ thoughts on his exit as GH’s Nikolas Cassadine? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
