Carly (Laura Wright) take off that big honking necklace that is laced around your neck… STAT!  An unknowing Carly just gave Franco (Roger Howarth) the final ammunition he needs to really make her life miserable on Friday’s episode of General Hospital!

After admonishing Sonny (Maurice Benard) for almost getting their son, Michael (Chad Duell) killed, once again she is pulled in by the sexy charms of Mr. Corinthos, even after she told him she wants to be with Franco!   Next thing you know, the two of them are having sex in Michael’s apartment!

Meanwhile, Nina (Michelle Stafford) has done her best to try to dissuade her friend Franco from watching and listening in to Sonny and Carly’s every move and dialogue through the “Eyeball Cam” via his phone.  She suggests they go for a very long lunch at the Metro Court.  When they return, Franco gets back his phone from the nurses station at GH, where he left it.  Once he gets it back, he checks his “Eyeball Cam” and what do you know?  He hears Carly admit that she and Sonny just had sex!

Kudos throughout the episode to Laura Wright for her emotional turn as a conflicted woman torn up about falling back into a relationship with the man that has caused her great pain.  She says to Sonny: “You must know, this is going to be a disaster.” T o which Sonny replied with the line of the episode: “Maybe … but it’s going to be a beautiful one.”

So, what do you think of Franco’s “Eyeball Cam”? What do you think she should to do Carly? Did you enjoy Laura Wright’s performance? Are you rooting for Sonny and Carly to have another, “beautiful disaster”? Comment below!

I think Carly is a lier, cheeter, user, what ever Franco going to do to her she deserve it and more!!

I think Sonny is worse. He killed AJ after promising his son he wouldn’t then he gets down and dirty on AJ’s grave with the other AJ (Ava Jerome) while AJ’s body is still warm! He disgusts me–he lacks a moral compass and yet he continually is presented to us as if he were basically a good guy.
I get the concept of the antihero–Luke was soaps’ first antihero but Sonny is really just a terrible person without one redeeming quality. I adore Maurice Benard, but Sonny is a character who has not grown, matured or evolved. I hate him.

Hi Harry,

HELL TO THE YEAH Sonny is W-O-R-S-E!!!!! Furthermore, Sonny doesn’t have A-N-Y moral compass PERIOD!!!!! Nope. Dude…here’s what I H-A-T-E most about Sonny: (1) Sonny does nothing but lie and/or kill. (2) Sonny acts like he’s ALWAYS RIGHT (which he ain’t!!!!!). (3) Sonny makes (and then BREAKS) promises to his loved ones…well…the few loved ones that Sonny does have. Dude…I (also) remember when Sonny broke his promise to his own son where AJ was concerned. Forgive my sarcasm (or whatever) here, but AS IF Sonny was gonna keep his promise to his son about AJ!!!!! Harry, another thing: I think that it’s VERY INTERESTING that you brought up the ‘concept of the antihero’…I agree. Bottom Line Here: In my book, Sonny is N-O-T an antihero. Nope. As far as I’m concerned, Sonny is nothing but an EGOTISTICAL COWARD!!!!!

Take care, Harry. A-C-E-S!!!!!

Here, here, Harry!!!! I’m still smarting over the grave injustices done to AJ….his was a character who had the prime potential to run the gamut of great soap emotions…pain, sorrow, redemption…even ultimately, happiness???? And it was all squandered for the sake of a salacious, gratuitous storyline that featured the most revolting and reprehensible roster of reprobates ever to inhabit Port Charles. The fact that these pusillanimous players are still present and prospering and our lost, lamented Quartermaine is gone forever(?) never ceases to make me mad and sad.

MB is a laugh riot when he is in comedy mode….witness his wickedly witty repartee with the woefully wanton Alexis just the other day. Instead of the usually moody, manic, ineffectual mafioso that (as you have pointed out) often appears to be channeling “Nick Tortelli,” I wish we would have been treated more to this amusing side of “Sonny Boy.” I still may not have warmed to the character and his lack of dimension, depth and decency, but it would have been far preferable to the dour dapper don mired in irreversible doom that has darkened the GH landscape all these years,

I caught a moment of B&B today. The moment I saw the smokin’ hot Sean Kanan on my screen I was reminded of what TIIC did to AJ and I get mad all over again. I rarely watch B&B, but seeing SK in that scene with the awesome Rena Sofer stopped me in my tracks and I was captivated. GH’s loss is certainly B&B’s gain. It was also likely an upgrade for Sean Kanan. B&B actually does location shoots, has better production values than GH and definitely a better wardrobe dept. They probably value their talent more than GH and don’t seem to have an incredibly bloated cast. A win-win for SK, I’d say. SK -1; RC – 0.

Oh yes, …finally, someone sees what I see, Janet. Thank you.
Also, I’d like to ask the ladies it they consider Sonny sexy? Or hot? Is it just moi? I find him neither good -looking or anyone to do a double-take. Give me Julian any day. He’s old enough to be my father, but he’s hot!
I think snakes can only mate with each other……Sonny and Carly do deserve to be together.
Do not do anything stupid, Franco….Carly is not worth it.

I actually like neither, CeeCee, but I will say that I cannot for the life of me understand that obviously virile chick magnet named Julian settling for the laughably lust-laden Alexis….he could certainly ttract someone less obnoxious and overbearing than her (and her decrepit décolletage….)

Hi CeeCee,

Girlfriend…your comment MADE MY DAY!!!!! Thank You. I am OPENLY GAY and age 46, BTW. Anyway, Sonny sexy? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Girl…that is TOO FUNNY…LOL!!!!! Let me see…Sonny sexy…um, no and No Thank You. To me, Sonny is nothing but a CONNIVING SNAKE and Carly is nothing but an OVERGROWN SLUT!!!!! CeeCee…more and more, you are a woman after my own heart!!!!! My point? You and I seem to be on THE SAME PAGE about Julian. H-o-n-e-y…I L-O-V-E Julian!!!!! To me, Julian is BEYOND H-O-T!!!!! Most of all, as an actor, William deVry (who plays Julian) is THE REAL DEAL!!!!! H-O-L-L-A!!!!!

Take care, CeeCee. XOXOXOXOXO

I agree with Cee Cee, Shay and Jaybird. Maurice is a cutie but Sonny is what you wipe off on the door mat.
Sonny has disgusted me ever since the days he slid around his black satin sheets with Karen, Brenda, Emily, Lily, Alexis, Sam, Olivia and Carly, Carly, Carly (mind you, not at the same time). Remember when he used to wear that Member’s Only jacket?
And speaking of whom and what. Look at the picture above!
You heard of Scarltett O’Hara using the drapes to make herself a dress?
It looks like Carly used Sonny’s old black satin sheets to make herself a new blouse.
Let us hope she had the sheets fumigated first.

Sonny…Thumbs down! Julian…2 thumbs WAY UP! All I could think of during those scenes is Nancy Lee Grahn, you lucky woman!

What do you think she should to do Carly?

Is “she” Nina? I’m confused.

Anyways I think Roger Howarth, Michelle Stafford, and Laura Wright are all doing a fantastic job with the material. I like the writing for this story and am really looking forward to the fallout. It would be cool if after the dust settles Jax can come back.

All i know is Micheal needs to fumigate his apartment repeatedly…lol

jimh…LOL!

Hi, rebecca. Thank you for taking the time to express your feelings. You put so much thought, I’m sure, in your writing…I appreciate that.
Sometimes, I perhaps speak out of turn….not meaning to step on any toes. But, honestly, I found dav offensive. I had no clue he was kidding. He sounded pretty serious to me. Now, I know better. See? I’m always learning…lol
Nonetheless, I never said to dav to respect his elders. How could I have done that since I neither know his/her age nor yours. I don’t even know his/her gender. What I said was to have some respect. ….that I was raised to respect my elders and all people in general, specifically pointing out that as far as we all knew, you could be 20. He mentioned cataracts, pointedly directed at you…MAGOO, pointedly directed at you. As far as I know , the aged get cataract surgery. Mocking such a condition is completely and utterly disrespectful. I have 6 elderly people in my life that I love with all my heart. I was incensed by those insensitive remarks…not a joke to me.
Read back, you’ll see. My comment on ageism was a general statement, definitely not directed at you. He /she was very disrespectful toward Gina Tognoni also. I doubt I misunderstood his sarcasm.
If I mention my age, it’s to prove a point. There are many posters, who do not outright tell their age, but it is implied in many instances, such as talking about certain soaps they have been watching for 30 years, 40 years, even 50 years. I can only guess. If a poster says he/she has been watching GH since its inception and since High School, I can only surmise he/she is anywhere between 40 and 70. Yes?
Also, you do not find it disgusting that Carly, mother and possibly a grandmother has sex in her son’s bed? I mentioned my parents because picturing them doing it in my and my husband’s bed would be so revolting. And, not because of their age, but because of self-respect. C’mon, who does that? Maybe I’m too old-fashioned…..i am who I am….

Sonny is no better. Do you condone a behavior where he hurt his own son by having sex with Ava? I doubt it. ….but, age has a lot to do with this. Sonny should know better because of his age. What was his excuse to Carly today? I took it to mean that the devil (Ava) made him do it.
I do realize that bubbles burst and dissipate…that it’s a soap, but I wonder what mimics what? Reality versus fiction? Or vice versa?
So, are you saying that because this is what Carly and Sonny are together…their dynamic, as you put it, their unique oneness….does it means that this ‘dynamic’ gives them license to cheat and hurt those they supposedly love? That just doesn’t compute, soap or not….later.

Hey again CeeCee…

A few things…you’re adorable. You say what you feel, you’re very earnest and you have a good heart. That all comes through. And I agree…Dav’s comments though tongue-in-cheek…were sarcastic and meant to offend. But since he doesn’t know me, nor I him…I didn’t take it personally. It was just his, as I wrote at the time, “charming” (read sarcasm) way of telling me he didn’t agree. I wonder how many of us would be “snarky” if we met in person like people do in a book club. Now THAT would be an interesting experiment! 😉

What I was responding to was the age issue. I guess we just see things through different eyes (oops! annnnnnnd we’re back to eyes!) ; I didn’t feel the cataracts/glasses comments was ageist…(snarky, rude, unnecessary, yes) but that is obviously this person’s way of expressing disagreement. Which leads to errrrr…tiffs. But you associated the cataracts comments with age…and if you take it literally then yes…that is what a lot of people develop when they get older. Some of the fans on this site (sight? :/ ) might actually have them! Maybe THEY’D be offended if they could actually see the comments! (Okay; sorry. Couldn’t resist.) But I just took the comment as his way of saying you must be having trouble with your eyes if you think they look alike! And yes, it was ridiculous for him to say that two people can’t resemble each other if they’re years apart. Has absolutely nothing to do with it! So in that sense, I responded (if you remember what I wrote back) how ridiculous his point on that was. (The whole thing was ridiculous because as I also wrote all he had to say was to each his own…I don’t see it.)

I love how you jump in to the rescue. You fight for the underdog. So do I. That’s a good thing. But thennnnnn…we come to bed hopping and age regarding Sonny and Carly. I guess I took that to mean you thought people didn’t do that when they’re older. I think you wrote “even people my age don’t… tries to rival teens with overly-active hormones. Very tacky.” I was just trying to say well, first…they’re not that old! (from my perspective). If I thought they were tacky…I’d just think their actions were tacky…but not because at their age they shouldn’t /wouldn’t be all over each other. That attraction doesn’t stop because you’re in your forties!

Relating back to GH…to me it doesn’t matter if Carly and Sonny are in their 20s or 60s…they are who they are together…and they’re drawn to each other..and yes, that includes jumping into bed. There are a lot of couples in real life who are addicted to each other….who make up, break up…in an endless cycle. I find that realistic. I’m not saying it’s smart…but I understand it. (The one thing I cannot understand and which cuts into Carly’s attraction to Sonny is when he threatened to kill her…if she still goes back to him after that…that’s a real blunder from a writing standpoint in my perspective. i don’t care how worried Sonny was about Olivia…it was very out of character for Sonny to threaten Carly’s life…insane. I don’t know how that got the green light. So for me…there should be no turning back for Carly. Someone threatens your life…done.)

On another note, they made a point of saying they didn’t sleep in Michael’s bed.

And to answer your question..or to elaborate…Sonny and Ava had sex in the crypt. Disgusting! I think we all agree on that. It would be disgusting in any circumstance but to do so at AJ’s funeral…where he rests…after they killed him…was beyond despicable. But again, I don’t attribute that to age…that they should have known better. There are two characters drawn with extreme moral conflicts. They love who they love passionately…and they kill at the drop of a dime…and sometimes they’re remorseful. They act impulsively, they’re destructive. Ava slept with her daughter’s ex-husband. No lower than Sonny. They were drawn by their mutual despair, desperation, duplicity, conspiracy. Nothing to do with their age or that they should be old enough to not do that. I believe Sonny loves his sons with all his heart. I think he hurts them in spite of that…and usually it’s his fault and yet at the same time out of his control…be it from outside forces or internal struggles like reaching out to Ava. So to answer you…no I don’t condone Carly and Sonny’s actions…I just explained them. I can’t wait for Michael to learn the truth…I, unlike you, WANT Franco to get his revenge! I think Franco (again, to me, they’re writing Todd by a different name..more and more each day)…. will bring the house down and there’s going to be a fallout that effects many relationships…just hope he’s left standing because I’m really lovin’ Franco now….

jimh…oh, yes…MOST DEFINITELY!!!!! Not only that, I think that B-O-T-H Sonny and Carly (and their personalities) each need to be FUMIGATED ASAP…ESPECIALLY SONNY!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

Hi, jaybird. I’m wondering if a guy can be called a skank…I think the slang only refers to women. But, to me? Sonny and Carly are both skanks. They should both be tested for STD’s. Seriously, not even the younger crowd indulges in tearing into each other as these two on the show. Enough, please !!!!! I just can’t picture my parents going at it like this. Personally, it is a complete turn-off. But, I am not the only one watching. My apologies to those viewers who like watching these two groping each other.
I suppose, as a leading man, Sonny must be on top of his mountain (Port Charles and beyond) to rule with a dirty hand until his demise. However, what bothers me the most is his holier-than -AJ-I am-I am attitude and nonchalance. Sonny, please practise what you preach !

So true…lol

CeeCee…

It’s very interesting hearing your “age” perspective on a lot of things here. But… Of course we all bring our own sensibilities, values, idea, opinions, experience, etc in to everything we do…whether it be engaging in real life or just reading a book, watching a film, play or TV. But I think relative to soaps age should have no bearing. By that I mean it’s a soap. So when you say your parents wouldn’t do that…well…I would hope they wouldn’t do many of the things soap characters do! That’s the point. It’s more fun to just watch the “people” and get lost in the dynamics of their character (the character and the makeup of their characters). Some characters bed hop and that’s their M.O. It’s how they live their lives. Some are religious; some not. Some monogamous, others not. Loyal or not…passionate, crazy, funny, criminal…or not. When we watch Sonny and Carly it’s who they are together. It’s their dynamic…their history. Their age doesn’t matter…as they are who they are and they’re entwined in a dysfunctional, passionate, symbiotic relationship. I don’t watch Maxie and Nathan and think they’re younger than me…nor do I watch Monica and Tracy and think they’re older than me. I just watch and get into the characters.

Same thing in “real” life time here on the comments section. If I’m having a disagreement with someone, honestly? I could care less if he or she is younger or older than me. We’re just people …anonymous…therefore we have no face, age, religion, race. We share the commonality of being soap fans…and so I respond to a fellow soap fan as such…unless he or she makes it personal. That’s a different story. (no pun intended but so appropro! 😉 I bring this point up because on another post you told Dav… to “respect his elders’ which is cute because though you’ve told us your age I haven’t told mine…nor has this person Dav…so no one knows who they’re speaking to unless they try to surmise it by the comments and how long he/she’s been watching soaps.

I think maybe life experience…including where we live and who we’ve socialized with, worked with etc…takes the emphasis off age somewhat. (Never completely because we’re all so obsessed with it.) But I’ve had friends much younger than me…and some older than me…and so I’m used to people doing all sorts of things at all ages. Maybe when you get a bit more up there in years you’ll see there’s not that much difference in what we do and say…unless you’re talking about a complete emotionally immature person and his/her actions…In that case that person may never grow up.

Just thought I’d impart these thoughts to you my hahaha..ahem…younger…friend.

He should move to the Brownstone after his parents did the deed in his apartment.

I agree. Leave the furniture and linens behind Michael. Run, do not walk, to The Brownstone.

GHs bellhop resembled Levi…imo…lol

LOL
I like the spy necklace!!
I love Franco!!
I never know what he is going to do, he is puzzle!

Franco and Nina have a special something..
Nina keeps him grounded and Franco trusts her..

I like Sonny and Carly together..
I like Franco and Nina together..

luv the mystery man, Franco!! I feel is about ready to POP!!!
((RH is owning his Franco 🙂

I love the spy necklace, as well. They should sell it in the ABC store. Even if its just a necklace without the spying feature.

Carly needed to get caught,so she can finally accept the truth of her relationship
and lingering love for Sonny. As for Franco and Nina they are a match made in
comedy heaven.

What a great way to put it. Carly has always had a soft spot for Sonny… She’s a mess. There really are some people who will choose the messiest path rather than the easiest one. Laura Wright

… Laura Wright plays this well. I never really take her or Sonny too seriously – it’s a soap. It can’t be everybody perfect, happy, and law-abiding. Otherwise, why watch it? The fiction is what’s appealing.

Love Nina & Franco. Go figure.

Or comedy h#!!, depending upon your perspective of and tolerance for the mind-numbing nonsense that defines “LaNina!” RoHo is rolling along reasonably well as the somewhat defanged Franco—-and I cannot wait to finally remove him from Carly’s orbit—- but putting those two immutable nutjobs together in the same space (aka, “paint pit”) for a prolonged period of time is already wearing mighty thin, particularly with the additional twin gimmicks of “The List” and “The Evil Eye Cam.”

Marauding mammoth ???? OMG. I just can’t take it any more. I have a stitch on my side from laughing. Where have you been all my life, Shay???!!!!

I think they need to get a better storyline for franco.

It is coming, ck. I believe everyone is finally in agreement that in their first meeting Franco and Nina connected. I saw it instantly. They just don’t know it yet.
I just hope Carly’s betrayal will be the catalyst to push Franco into Nina’s arms and not the catalyst to pull the proverbial trigger.

Glad you appreciated the “marauding mammoth” designation for Carly, CeeCee!!!! It’s always emblazes itself upon my mind whenever Ms. Jax makes one of her grand entrances….

P.S. As per Sonny’s skanky behavior, I simply choose to term him a “Man-Ho”…..

You know, Shay? I could never come up with the perfect expression to describe Sonny…LOL, you just did.
Sometimes I find it difficult to separate characters from actors, which is a gross mistake. I am sure these are nice, ordinary (I doubt it…lol) people who lead a clean life….not at all what they depict on stage. It is our job, IMO, to cut the characters ( not the actors) down or build them up at will….it is a great temptation to do so. The site is there…hard to resist? Who else is perfect for it, but yourself? You’re the cream of the crop; the best of the best, the most of the ‘mostest’…superlative….lol. Actually, I’m serious.
What really gets to me the most is when posters verbally attack other posters….sometimes openly sarcastic, sometimes through innuendo. I think I have a pretty sharp mind…I can smell them…know what I mean? But, you will say whatever is on your mind succinctly without insults. Unfortunately I am still working on owning that skill.
I always avidly look for your posts….this is the quiet, coffee time , after my rushed morning(s) with the family…..later.

For the umpteenth time, thank you for your generous comments, CeeCee!!!! We all have our own styles and manners of expressing ourselves, and I think the longer you spend time here, the better you get at doing just that. We encourage each other to grow and hone our writing skills, which is part of the fun!!!! I’ve never had a problem with those who take issue with my comments, as long as they are not profane, personally insulting or projecting untrue assumptions onto my character….disagreements and discussions are what keep these threads going!!! You can even find favorite sparring partners….for example, rebecca1 and I have a long, fond history of debating….mostly, but not exclusively, over Sappy/Snippy….and I still look forward to our verbal tanglings…..not that we don’t occasionally have moments of concurrence, as well!!! Having said that, I find you to be an absolute sweetheart, and that may be why you are so easily dismayed when a meanie tries to diss your bliss…don’t let them get to you. Nobody who regularly reads your sharp insights and well-put observations could ever doubt your shining intellect…it’s there for all to see……Try to focus on those of us who know and love your sparkling contributions…which I always look forward to reading!!! : )

Thank you, Shay…as always, I reciprocate the sentiment.

You are most welcome, CeeCee!….I can sincerely say without reservation that it’s obvious you are a chick after my own heart…we could definitely do lunch and shop for stilettos…LOL!

I love it when Sonny and Carly are together. The air nearly snaps they are so hot. I love Roger Howarth but not as Franco. He is made to be the powerful, unpredictable Todd Manning. I don’t know GH can get it fixed but they really need to bring the real Todd back and leave Franco out there in crazy land with Nina. I think the thought of a item that spies on someone as ugly as you can get. I definitely do not like the storyline. Just let Franco and Nina get together in their fantasy world and let the rest of the world go by. Please no Jax. (P.S. I don’t like the character of Silas either. John McBain was Michael Easton’s ultimate character. He was much more animated and alive but then again I don’t suppose there are many jobs open in the PCPD.)

You really think so, dawnhaze? Franco and Nina have been hurt. That’s what will draw them together. They are not crazy…just a bit misplaced..LOL
So, you consider backstabbers and criminals sane? That is exactly what Sonny and Carly are. And, with that in mind, I find them repulsive, not hot. In reality, I understand that Maurice is an exemplar human being, husband and father….as Sonny? He’s not!
In my personal opinion, I find nothing hot about Sonny or his love scenes. He has to stand on his tippy-toes to reach Carly’s lips. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? That turns me right off.

Carly always reminds me of a marauding mammoth in search of her next sexual prey….it’s not for nothing that someone once noted on another website that Ms. Jax is the “Ellis Island” of Port Charles…during her “times-out” from Sonny, new meat (I mean, arriving men….) usually have to pass through her (or sometimes around, if they’re exceptionally lucky….) in order to gain admission to the city. Having said that, I truly hope that when nuJason emerges from his coma he has a memory lapse in reference to the great “bonding experience” he had with Sonny and Carly….her possessiveness and preoccupation, bordering on obsession, with Mr. Morgan, has always been a sore spot for me….so overbearing and presumptive. With Sam, Liz, Monica—and especially Danny!—to fill his emerging mind, wouldn’t it be great if his horrible history as a hit man were forever lost to destroyed brain cells????

“Marauding mammoth” is just brilliant, Brilliant, I tell ya

I swear, reading Fairman’s blog and the adjoining comments from brilliant people like Shay is more entertaining than GH right now.

I am LOVING this story! LOVE Roger in the Franco role which as I’ve posted repeatedly….definitely started out a disaster but he’s baaaaaaaaccck! Also love Nina now…which I also detested at the beginning. Though Carly’s a woman conflicted…my sympathy and allegiance belongs to Franco. No doubt he’ll tell Michael about Sonny killing AJ…yay! Fun! And I have to exclaim again…YAY!!! LOVE Nina’s friendship with Franco. She is so loyal to him…great chemistry!

Hi, rebi (rebecca)….. I have renamed you with an endearment. I am so happy, you finally like Nina. Under those vestiges of a crazy loon, she is just a hurt sparrow. She is as vulnerable as Franco is, right now. We must keep in mind that Franco is reborn. He is like a child. But, from hurt comes determination. Both will gather strength from each other and from their helplessness.
It is because of that helplessness that Nina is compelled to scheme. I hope none of it comes to fruition. There is a future story for these two to be told. Their respect and fondness for each other, will gradually bloom into full-fledged love….as a red rose in spring…..fire and passion.
We will be treated to magnificence from these two…bravo, Franco…..brava, Nina !!!!!

I must disagree with you, rebecca. As the saying goes…’There is honor among Thieves’, …..in this case, of course, we are talking about a mobster, a ‘fuorilegge’; better known in Italian. Basically, the same thing. This is an international proverb. There is a reason for it to still be used in the 21st Cenury.

I am not denying this code is skewed, because it is. Nevertheless, it does exist and gangsters do follow a certain code of ethics designed within their clan(s)…for lack of a more suitable word. Outlaws do adhere to this hypocritical moral code ,which to those of us who are law-abiding citizens, makes no sense that criminals have any morals of which to speak.
The point I was trying to make is that Sonny follows one single code…..his own, and damn anyone else’s.

Hmmmm… CeeCee….that very well may be true. But as I mentioned Sonny does have a code of ethics…he won’t deal drugs, he won’t allow others to deal drugs in his territory, he’s a good father/friend….he monogamous (from what I remember other than his crypt/crazy/creepy sex with Ava in a moment of emotional torment. My point is Sonny does have a code of ethics; and yes, as you say they’re his…and I don’t see or am not aware of the specifics of what kind of code you’re looking for in a “gangsta.” Sonny’s dark; I hate a lot of things he’s done…the most abhorrent being everything he did to AJ…but at the same time after years of watching this character I know how capable he is of loving and being hurt and vulnerable. The reason he’s been so devastated is because of his broken promise to his son…and guilt over killing an innocent man…even a man he despised.. AJ. I don’t see the code you’re referring to being any different…if they kill, maim, destroy, torture, threaten, extort…their codes…whether identical or not…mean not much more.

I love Sonny n Carly together n they are stronger together than apart!!! I will always be on the CarSon ride n enjoy their beautiful disaster!!!

I don’t know, Sarah. Perhaps I respect my body too much…and I’d like to keep my dignity intact. I know it’s just a show and not reality, but, by the same token
I know so many acquaintances who live this exact lifestyle. It is abasing, JMO.

I also think these two should give it a rest. At this rate, they won’t have any breath left. I hope Sonny got his yearly physical. LOL…You know, heart attack?

Oh I hear you, CeeCee….we definitely share the same personal sensibilities!!!! The “anything goes” code of conduct is completely anathema to me, as well!!!! As for this being fantasy and not reality, sadly it is a true reflection for so many in today’s society.

I never forgave Carly for cheating on Jax with Sonny. (of course, I never forgave her for sleeping with Tony,or tossing AJ’s drunken body in a laundry bin, dousing him with alcohol after slipping vodka in his grape juice when he was in recovery). Jax and Carly had it all , loved their lemon yellow decor and Carly had to ruin it all.

Carly and Sonny are perfect for each other, they always have been. My heart breaks for Franco since his feelings for her were genuine.

Kind of tired of the millionth reunion of Sonny and Carly–and I really don’t want to see an insane Franco going after them. But I am loving Franco and Nina together. You can see true friendship building between 2 people who are essentially alone in the world.
Sonny and Carly are both bullies and morally bankrupt while pretending they are always right, and morally superior because they “protect their family.”
I used to like Carly, especially when she was with Jax, who I hope gets sole custody of Josslyn. Carly deserves to be knocked down a few pegs.

Carly left the building when the wonderful Tamara Braun left the soap. She had chemistry off the charts with MB enough said

Perhaps, I didn’t really watch then. Saw Tamara at the beginning of her time there and wasn’t wowed. But, in my view, Sonny is a pig and a bully and self-worshipping, so I wouldn’t want any woman to be with him.

Oh I am not a Sonny fan by a long shot he is so disrespectful of women. But of all the Carly’s he had the best chemistry with TB . I loved Laura Wright as Cassie on Guiding Light but I find her Version of Carly to just scream and yell all the time. Most definitely not bashing the actress she did tone it down when they paired her with Jax

Yeah, k/Kay. Jax, from what images I have seen, is , at least, her size. She does not tower over him.

I agree. I enjoyed her the most with Jax. Didn’t even hate her with AJ

@Lucy D. Though I hoped AJ would live, thrive and be in a fantastic relationship with Liz, I, too, liked him with Carly. They had great chemistry. Would have been a great irony if they had actually fallen in love…if not that…would have been fun to see them in some love/hate secret affair for a while….their mutual disdain and resulting quips, snips and barbs would have fit right into the Quartermaine domain!

I’ve Always felt like Sonny and Carly belonged together. They have Undeniable chemistry. The only other woman I liked him with has been Olivia. Brenda a Long time ago but not anymore. I like Franco with Nina. They seem to go well together. Both crazy Lol

I hate to admit it but whatever Franco has plan for Carlyle and Sonny ,I hope it pays off in a big way!!! Carlyle and Sonny are some seriously messed up people who know they should not be together for multiple reasons, which among them is someone is always damaged by their relationship. I personally would like to see Franco get the better of Sonny, so to take Sonny’s ego down a peg or two.

When RH was Todd I was rooting for him and Carly because at the time they had amazing chemistry, but when RH turned into Franco it just became weird because of Carly’s history with the character. Yes, he had a brain tumor but still— it was obviously a bad match–

As for Sonny he is just a dog in heat– in a time span of one year Sonny went from Connie, to Olivia to Carly without skipping a beat, and had a crypt sex with Ava thrown in there as well. He obviously has no clue what real love is– and I bet my last dollar he will end up married to Ava- and poor Carly will be left out in the cold once again.

Mary off topic here but the only way I can watch any scenes with RH is when he is with MS/Nina actually it is the only time I can watch MS also. I have been real disappointed with the character of Nina. Just to much theatrics guess I am getting old!

I know what you mean, I find when those two are in a scene their characters seem human when together– the writers allow both Nina and Franco to be vulnerable and less intense which makes it easier for me as a viewer to watch- and more interesting– it is always a treat when soap writers manage to give these characters some layers.

I hope whatever shakes out CarSon come out on top. I hope that GH can write a more mature love story for them. We’ve seen their love when they were both younger & dysfunctional, I’m hope that age has made them learn from their previous mistakes & can work together. After all they are stronger together than they are apart & they most certainly are a “beautiful disaster”

You’re right, Jessie. I certainly agree with the fact that Carly and Sonny, if TPTB have designs of keeping these two together, then, by all means, give them a more mature relationship…..not one which tries to rival teens with overly-active hormones. Very tacky.

Rebecca, please note that I am not talking about age here…it’s about behavior. Teens find it hard to contain it…especially boys, that is a given. That is natural and perfectly acceptable to exibit such behavior, (in private) not so Sonny and Carly. Please do not misconstrue my intent. Then again, perhaps I was not clear enough. I hope I am now.
Sex is a healthy thing between two people, no matter what age. But, it is unrealistic for people of a certain age to physically withstand 2or3 rounds one after the other without respite. Am I way off? I don’t know…never asked….lol. Later. Over and out on the subject.

CeeCee… I think like all things…it’s individual. But they depict the same for Alexis and Julian…anyway, it’s a soap. Soaps are all about love, passion, sex…bed-hopping, cheating, broken relationships, new relationships…I don’t find Sonny and Carly’s passions out of the norm for their age. And with that…yes…over and out on this subject….

CeeCee….I absolutely concur with you that Sonny and Carly’s unbridled sexual antics are extremely tacky, just as his “Crypt Tryst” with Ava was completely beyond the pale disgusting, however, I have to say Alexis and her “dog in heat” act with Julian isn’t any better. That voracious virago behaves as if she hasn’t two brain cells to rub together whenever he registers on her radar. In addition to comporting herself like a perpetually turned-on teenager, she struts around like one, too….always finding it necessary to display her goods for all to see. Quite frankly, I find her to be a pathetic and embarrassing example of womanhood. Same goes for those two terrible termagants, Lucy and Bobbie, actually coming to fisticuffs over Scotty the doughy hedgehog as if he were such a prize! And now that Attorney Baldwin has made his “pick” of the proudly proclaimed ex-hooker, it would seem that Ms. Coe will be setting her smutty sights on her next target, aka, the already spoken-for Mr. Lavery. What is wrong with all these supposedly mature females???? Can there not be any classy, elegant ladies who behave with a modicum of dignity, decorum and dare I say, self-respect???? (Other than Anna, that is…..her love scenes with “Sir Duke” emphasize love and romance in a tasteful manner….)

Carly and Sonny are too much alike. Even if they get back together again, there’s only room for one alpha dog. So as usual, everyone in their world will also suffer. Then there’s Franco who’s still “creative” without the bad tumour. And now Jason’s back. Hang on to you seat belts.

I’m not sure exactly where this story is going, but I absolutely love the eyeball cam!! That is such a brilliantly clever idea, whomever came up with it. It’s definitely something that a wacko like Franco would come up with too. I can think of a few times in the past I wish some former significant others of mine were wearing an eyeball cam disguised as a necklace, lol.

I have to give them credit for the way they’ve written this story, cause they’ve actually made me get behind Franco. I always love Roger Howarth, but the character of Franco has been kinda meh lately. Hopefully this will give him some meaty material, as Franco plots his revenge against Sonny and Carly. And let’s be honest, S&C deserve whatever they get at this point!

Fantastic post, Dan…….succinct !!

This show2 gives me the perfect excuse to go to the gym. I never have to see Sonny and carly . I never watch any more. This show is a joke. A bad joke. I keep reading the blogs ,to see if I should watch. No way. I have no intrest in watching Sonny. The man is scum. kills AJ wants to kill AVa, who the hell does he think he is The grim reeper. Oh ya he is.

Thanks for your negative comment, it is appreciated, we like to know how you feel. It’s no matter that you go by other people opinions as to what they don’t like to form your don’t like opinion.. 🙂
(lemmings) LOL 🙂

Actually.. Maurice/Sonny is giving a great performance!!
He is bringing us a more humorous softer at heart Sonny yet a gangsta, Maurice is bring it home!!

Parts of GH — is about gangsta’s and killings.. didn’t cha know that..
GH is not a love-in …. LOL :)… but I love it !!!

Yeah, Su, Sonny is a gangsta….’cosa nostra’….but, even mobsters follow a certain moral code…..Sonny follows nothing but his own code of free-for-me.
The attraction women have toward Sonny is an enigma. He must have big feet.
Nonetheless, I do share your love of GH.

CeeCee…I don’t think that “gangstas” have much of a moral code…unless it’s amoral. That aside…Sonny actually does have a few moral codes. He won’t deal drugs, he’s usually monogamous, he’s loyal to his family, friends and he has a conscience (WHEN he thinks he’s wrong). I dislike him a lot of the time…and I HATED what he did to AJ…not only in the final hour which was the worst…but the entire mocking, patronizing, violent, demeaning, threatening approach he took with AJ…and it was Sonny who stole AJ’s son…not the other way around!!!! (Did I imply I liked Sonny some of the time…LOL…yet actually I do.) But the WORST was keeping Michael from AJ, bad-mouthing AJ to Michael…and finally killing him. Even so, I actually think Sonny does feel guilty about killing AJ…of course because of what it did to Michael and the repercussions when Michael finds out…but I don’t think he likes to kill for killing sake. I think he feels genuine remorse that he killed an innocent man (even though he despised AJ).

There was a time when they showed how loving Sonny could be…the age of Robin and Stone. He loved Stone…whose death devastated him. He’s a complex character with a lot of Port Charles in his orbit, thus I find him a pivotal character…though they’ve weakened his power considerably.

As for Sonny and Carly, you know how I feel. I’m rooting for Franco to blow them both out of the water!

Janet…girlfriend…VERY, VERY WELL SAID!!!!! As for Carly…oh, p-l-e-a-s-e…N-O female soap character can be THAT DESPERATE AND THAT STUPID!!!!! Gimme a break already.

Take care, Janet. Peace.

Sonny and Carly are like Nikki and Victor over at Y&R, they will always end up in each others arms. They are going to need each other! Michael will hate them and Franco will get revenge. Plus, Jason is back and what will he do when he finds out his boss killed his brother and his best friend knows and is protecting Sonny. It is going to be great and these juicy story lines will ease Billy Miller into the role of Jason. Yes there will be fireworks but Billy can utilize all the drama into his own version of Jason. It will help him and the fans will look at the recast differently since Jason will be estranged from Sonny and Carly. Then you have Sam, Liz, Michael, and Monica. NuJason will be great with these characters. I just know this, on Y&R, Billy Miller fit in nicely with ANY character on that show he acted with. This will be great!

Great post, Timmm.

Thanks CeeCee.

I love the story!!!!
As for the performances…. Franco & Nina are the big winners in my book, I want to see more of them, the acting is very natural and Roger is giving an outstanding performance in showing Franco’s pain….

Carly & Sonny on the other hand do not convince me at all, they just make my skin crawl. Carly acts like a dog in heat and Sonny is just a slime ball and a bully who goes after a pregnant woman. Sonny and Carly make me gag when they talk about killing Ava and taking her baby. Thanks to the eyeball, Franco will be able to put them in their places.

I can*t wait to see Franco sending Sonny where he belongs – to prison, as for Carly she deserves to be miserable and alone when all is said and done.

Alex; totally agree with you about Franco and Nina! I love them together…and Roger is back to kicking butt!!!! (Roger is in his element again.) So happy they gave his character more substance and evolved his personality from infantile to interesting. Nina too. Now that she’s not as over-the-top…her relationship with Franco is soap gold!

First, not the most important, but about Sonny’s looks. When Maurice Benard was young, he was gorgeous. Now, not his fault, and maybe partially due to the “Sonny hair style” he looks hard. My mom didn’t even know what the show was about, walked into the room and said,’He looks like a gangster.” But he did used to be absolutely gorgeous.
Now about Sonny himself… he tries to be a good father, he wants to protect his children. Does he do a good job of that…. I can’t not stand the mob part of the show. For many years it did not have that component and it did not need to have it. I hope Jason does not remember that part of his life, so he can get out of it. I hope he wakes up (I’m sure this won’t happen) without that mindset. Sonny once tried to leave the mob. I hear Mr. Benard has not signed to return. Although I like to see scenes with his children (when they are not killing related) I can live without the character, if he’s going to be in the mob and not growing as a person. Also, I can’t stand characters who think they’re so “all that” that they are irrestible.

Carly and Sonny are disgusting and I can’t wait for their parts in AJ’s demise to be revealed and for them to be forever shunned by all who matter in PC.

I love RoHo even if I think turning him into Franco was RC’s worst. idea. ever. I can’t not enjoy RoHo. I’m starting to warm to Nina (excuse me, I choked a bit on that). I liked her run on Y&R for the most part, but her OTT Nina ate GH for a bit. She seems to be calming down to cray-cray status, instead of CRAY-CRAY!!!

More Julian please.

LOL, MB. Nina will be great…she’s still in the cocoon stage. Just wait and see what she and Franco WILL do for GH.
Now, it seems that she’s busted. Silas caught her with her hand in the cookie jar and out of her wheelchair. Will she explain it away by saying that she was secretly planning to surprise him? Will he believe her?

I think Nina will say she was planning to surprise Silas. I doubt he’ll confront her, but will be suspicious. He’s caught her out of her chair once before, so he should be giving her the side-eye. I don’t think Silas is completely clueless.

I’m happy Silas confronted Nina. Glad she’s finally out of that wheelchair. A mobile Nina should be good.

If Maurice was at the end of his contract I would believe maybe Franco gets the upper hand and Sonny ends up in Pentonville. However, I havent heard any rumors about Sonny leaving so I think somehow Sonny escapes going to prison. It doesnt matter because both his sons will hate him, for now and that could just be worse than prison? Question: Does anyone know what happened to Sonny’s dad, Mike? I havent seen him in a long time on screen nor heard Sonny mention him in a long, long time.

Actor Ron Hale who played Mike has retired so its unlikely he’ll return(wish he would if Delia returns)…Ron also played Delia’s husband Roger on Ryans Hope… i loved it when Delia was at Sonnys some time ago and seen Mikes picture thinking it was her husband Roger…i enjoy some of those little inside jokes!!!

Such a little detail but such a huge moment from Delia’s character.

Sonny’s son are from a mobster crime family, they have learned to expect anything from Sonny..
His son’s are Corinthos and they will not hate Sonny, eventually..
As a matter of fact imo, they will help save Sonny from Prison..
His sons will not hate him they are Corinthos!

Good point su0000. However, he did kill Michael’s dad BUT Sonny is like a father to Michael so it will be really good drama. I guess in the end Michael will protect his dad and maybe understand that Sonny did what he did with the information he had at the time not knowing Ava was playing him.

I get that, Su. But, Michael’s DNA says otherwise…Sonny robbed him of his true identity, by dirtying his mind, in that, AJ was a derelict.
IMO, it will probably be easier for Morgan to be juuuust a little bit forgiving. But, Michael will have a hard time….he was just getting to know his bio father.
Also, Michael will hold an infinite amount of resentment towards his mother, I would think.

Hi, Timmm. I googled Ron Hale, unfortunately all I could find is that he retired four years ago. My search did not get be very far. I became curious when you mentioned that Sonny had a father.
Perhaps he should be recast. I’d be interested to see how Sonny would interact with his father now.

The relationship was mostly strained, even at the best of times.
Mike was an Alcoholic and compulsive Gambler, who had abandoned
Sonny and his Mother when he was a boy… Sonny had a very difficult
time forgiving his father’s repeated indiscretions. They loved each but
the baggage was overwhelming.

They should recast. Sonny and his dad had an explosive relationship with a lot of tension between the two. Sonny resented him because he left him and his mom and Mike had a big gambling problem. They eventually came around a bit and Mike actually dated Bobbi for a while. I just dont remember how he was written off the show. It would be a welcomed character and Michael needs a grandfather, someone who can show him support.

Hi, Fanny. Sounds much like the baggage between Sonny and his sons.

Mike passed away. As for Maurice, his contract was renewed.

What? Mike died and Ron Hale retired?
How did I not know this?
I loved Mike. I loved Roger from Ryan’s Hope too.

What would have been memorable is “Mike and Delia” meeting up on GH.

I know, I dont remember this playing out at all.

ugggg…Ron Hale retired/Mike Corbin LOL…in rehab.

Phew! Thank you, Rebecca. I was about to say that I didn’t even know Mike was sick!

Harry my apologies,Mike was taken to a Gambling rehabilitation facility
by Sonny. He did NOT pass away.

Id like to see Robert Foxworth as a recast Mike…thats if the show brings the character back and R.F. is available and willing…

I think that Carly and Sonny should be togther

I am a total big fan of Sonny and Carly. They should really tey and make things work with them this time. No matter who they are with at the time they always cheat on that person to be with each other again. Clearly they are lovers for life. Instead of causing other people heart break they just need to be together. They both have come a long way from where they both used to be. Sonny and Carly fan for life!!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Published

on

By

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy  for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Chad Duell

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.

You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.

Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera?
