‘General Hospital’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and other ABC Shows Pause Return to Production During Omicron Surge

Photo: ABC

The post-holiday returns of several ABC shows has been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 surge from the Omicron variant.

TV Line is reporting on Wednesday that Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie and Station 19, as well as General Hospital have delayed a return to production.

According to the item, GH delayed its return to production from this week, and pushed it until next week.

The Rookie has yet to determine when they will return.

Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 were originally scheduled to return Monday January 10th, but are now slated to come back on Wednesday the 12th.

All of these production re-starts are, of course, pending more of a surge as the situation can be day-to-day.

The production pause was out of an abundance of caution, not because of any specific outbreaks related to any of the shows.

No word yet, how the surge may affect production on the other network series from NBC, CBS and the CW, etc.

If things hold, it won’t be much time difference from the original production re-starts for these shows.

So, glad to know the ABC shows are taking precautions before they return to work? Comment below.

Soo… now they don’t have any excuses to keep Steve Burton off the set, right??

Oh… you mean i don’t need a vacinne for hell or since i have had 3 jabs you won’t take me?

Vaccines aren’t needed in Hell. We’re immortal down here, so a virus ain’t going to do anything to you.

Maybe just pride?

The vaccine mandate is a Disney corporate policy. GH and ABC cannot override that.

Satan -here in the real world vaccine mandates is Disney Corporate policy. Neither GH nor ABC has the power to not follow that policy. Those actors who refuse to go along lose out big time.

Don’t know how old this news is but I’ve already seen the new Rookie last Sunday and S.W.A,T and more ths week. I live in So.Cal, maybe there’s a difference but I doubt it.

I wish YnR would pause production and return with a new E.P and headwriter, Morina and Griffith are tragic. No originality, no vision and the show looks and sounds budget.

So right, Damien. Billy’s pathetic, childish vendetta against Adam is going on, what, eight years now or more. He really thinks HE should run Newman Media? How many companies can he run into the ground and then blame everyone else? I’m SO tired of these repetitive stories. They’re even teasing a Nick & Sharon reunion! Really?

Well, I guess Steve and Ingo are kind of smiling right now. BUT, I dont want to get into a vaccination debate. I have a positive idea with a bit of “Tongue in Cheek” mixed in. Danny Boaz was released from Y&R. He played Chance. Him and Ingo look a bit alike. Why not cast Danny in a new role as the next Jax ONLY call him VAX! Take a little swing at Ingo. Ha ha ha! But seriously, Jax and Jerry could have another sibling floating around out there and Danny Boaz would fit the bill as the new hunky good guy.

I was thinking Danny could be a recast Lucky. I think they are close in age.

Lucky always had that rogue look to him like Luke. Danny is to much of a pretty boy!

This soap is over the top. So even the fully vaccinated GH cast is getting COVID?? Steve and Ingo are gone so they sure didn’t give it to them. So is GH going to fire every vaccinated actor who contracts COVID?

Mr. Biden and his staff are considering shifting gears and treating the patient and not so much putting an emphasis on the VAX. Meaning, he wants to focus on diluting Omicron to a point where it is a flu-like treatment and mostly treated OTC instead of gumming up hospitals.
