GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Stabs Silas In Her Fantasies! What Did You Think Of The Scene?

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

This week on General Hospital, Nina  (Michelle Stafford) wormed her way into Silas’ (Michael Easton) bed and had sex with her “husband”!

Silas had a few drinks, Nina got up from her wheelchair and started to undress,  Silas’ ex, Sam was off flirting with Patrick (Jason Thompson), and Nina wants a baby! All in a fun night of romantic drama in Port Charles, right?

After Nina and Silas have hit the sack, GH delivered to fans of the series a little horror flick-esque moment, when Nina takes out a butcher knife and stabs, as she calls him, “her cheating husband”!  After her rage, she kind of smirks about the deed.  Viewers then see a bloody Silas.

So clearly we have now seen a few twisted fantasies from Nina.  Remember the one with Rafe (Jimmy Deshler) at his bedside at the hospital?  And clearly Nina goes from manipulative to just plain certifiable!

What did you think of the scene this week?  Do you like how Nina will seemingly flip back and forth into her fantasies of revenge and real time?  Watch the moment after the jump and then weigh-in!

No fantasies…let her go on a killing spree including Silas…then Nina is in for a shock when John McBain shows up at her door to investigate…Nina mouths: WTF!!!

Sooner or later, jimh, Nina will go on a killing spree. She is not back because of her undying love for her husband….she is back to kill everyone who has contributed to the pain of losing a child and robbing her of her husband and 20 years of her life. This is retribution… Can we blame her? Lol. Her first betrayer was Silas, …it’s no wonder her diabolical thoughts go there… The only redemption for Nina is the discovery that Kiki is hers. If that is the case, I wish the ‘puppeteers’ controlling the stage and all things on it,…lol…will make the revelation happen sooner than later. Kiki needs a storyline all her own to make her a credible member of the GH cast. Thus far, she has been nothing but an extra appendage temporarily attached to one character or another….such as Fluke the perv.
I honestly thought I was going to see a show of amazement from Michelle…but it is just a continuation of Phyllis with a different name. So, I’m still waiting…
I hope she delivers. It seems that she has lost her edge…sigh…one of my faves…
….fact is, I really thought she loved Silas, but it looks like she wants revenge, otherwise her fantasies would not take that path….who fantasizes about killing someone he/she loves? An out-of-her-mind banshee. My mother said ‘old’ Nina sounds a lot like a young Phyllis who had nutsy episodes , now and again ,throughout her Y&R sojour….so, now GH fans are getting a thin flicker of bipolar Phyllis.
I am still debating if Nina is a sociopath.

Nina, Nina, Nina… where are you

woah… ouch…. just the sound of that knife plunging in to Silas… was the real part.
Yikes!

I’m with you CeeCee…. they need to rectify…. and bring us Michelle Stafford with legs… walking… talking… taking command… making herself known…

so be it…. if Kiki… is the catalyst for purging of MS’ current state of affairs… as Nina… then it’s time out… and steer toward … Nina, up and out of that wheel chair… and that child she thought she lost… would make ALL the difference….

it’d be sad, heartbreaking… and loss… with and for Ava. no matter, how Ava character is… she’s still that mother… ” just the two of us against the world”… is the writing on the wall…. since Ava is pregnant… with another child… this time hers….

I really have to finally give KA’ Kiki…some prop…. the scenes… FINALLY when she bonded with Ava… when she felt the baby moving… and Kiki… was, in my book… showing respect to Ava… and celebrating her birthday… touched me. so… if the writers go this route…

this is on par… stalwart… woman to woman…. mother hen… mother bear… mother…. dam breaking… as Nina and Ava galvanize… the shock reverberation of loss and welcoming Kiki

MS’ Nina : “…I hope she delivers. It seems that she has lost her edge…sigh…one of my faves…”

she has to get up outa that chair now… and MOVE Nina… her character would soar… in our eyes.. that she’s taking charge… lets see our endorphins take

I lived vicariously, thru Michelle Stafford’ Phyllis

a full embodiment of all the requisite sensory perceptions load

what other character can you say less ?

her resume for anything else… you can’t help but feel cheated… slighted… left out… bereft… wheres my overload…. that I can satiate

is Nina coming round? I don’t know… truthfully…. even if she’s up; threw with…. Silas and Sam… and runs with Kiki

should find a life with Aunt Leisl…. LOL

it’s unfair to MS… that we’re just not comfortable seeing Nina… laying low… with cheap antic…

POWER up Nina… theres no other way.

direct Nina… you know that… leave everyone by the wayside and triumphant

Phyllis was an admirable trait that distilled… she enveloped ‘her’ life… immersed our senses

now that’s a treat

ooh thats a good one.

AGREE..She can help GH by trimming this huge cast..The fallowing should be killed off by Nina: Dante, Shawn, Franco, Silas, Olivia, Spencer and Nicholas..Get rid of all the dead weight!! And then send Nina to death row and send the actress back to Y&R where she belongs..It bugs me that such a great actress like here is thrown into a stupid storyline..At first it seem like it had potential but now its just ridiculous..She needs scenes with other Divas of the show..The scenes with Roger and Michael are just so boring…I am sure TPTB will give us some baby stealing or something like that with Ava and Nina, Dr. O and Magda!!

jimh…GOOD ONE…LOL!!!!! Yep. I’m sorry but I find Michael Easton’s GH character Silas to be both A SNORE AND A BORE!!!!! When he was on OLTL (at the time), at least ME’s character of John McBain had enough DIMENSION about him. Which is more than I can say for that totally B-O-R-I-N-G Silas. Truly lame.

Take care, dude. Peace.

You are sooo right Silas is a complete bore.

Would somebody, please, regulate Nina’s meds. I think we will probably have to wait until after she sets Ava in her sights.

Anyone else think that Kiki is actually Nina and Silas’s daughter born while Nina was in a coma and forced upon Ava to raise.

It seems obvious to a lot of us that Kiki and Nina are daughter and mother…we know it!!! Nina will realize she is being punished for her evilness when the truth comes out about Kiki and Nina will become suicidal because of it…lol

Since we all think Kiki is Nina’s they may throw us a curve. On Fridays show Ava kept talking about Fluke but calling him “Not Luke.” Why doesnt she call him Fluke like all of us? Probably because the writers didnt come up with the name. The fans did and they dont want to acknowledge that?

I do.

Probably. Nina has made a point of wanting Silas’s kid, not just any old kid. Since Nina can’t get pregnant herself Kiki is pretty much the only option unless Sam also turns out to be pregnant too and they old fake pregnancy/baby switcheroo. That would take too long though.

And did I notice a little tweak in the storyline where Nina is now talking in about being in a coma for 23 years rather than the 20 they originally said? That would fit with Kiki’s age where the original 20 year coma would not.

Nina’s mother mentioned early on that she was trying to get rid of Silas’s baby not Nina so it is plausible that Madeline or Dr. O pulled some hanky panky with Nina’s embryos to get revenge on Ava and Silas.

Well, plausible for a soap anyway:)

We do not know if Nina cannot get pregnant as a fact. Nature throws us curve balls sometimes. Menopausal women can conceive. A family member is an OBGYN…she sees plenty of women in their late forties and beyond , conceive a child. From what I understand a woman “drops ” eggs here and there during menopause, without regularity. …which makes it an easy task for any of those eggs to be fertilized.
Yes, KM….I noticed the 23-year thing also….good catch, right? When I heard that, the first thing that came to mind was Kiki. She is 23 in both real life and the show.
Madeline definitely did pull that baby (literally) out of Nina and gave it to Ava….aware that Ava and Silas were lovers. As, ‘I love GH’ wrote, Ava loved Silas so much that if she couldn’t have him, she could , at least, have his child. Ava raised Kiki and loves her as her own flesh and blood. It is so easy to love a baby…any baby, so sweet.
I actually assumed this all along, but sometimes I hold back VERBALIZING what I think in fear of putting my foot in it…you how….look like a fool.

That is a very plausible scenario…stealing Sam’s embryo…The fact that Britt told Nina that she herself had stolen an embryo did not go unnoticed by Nina. A new monster is unleashed in Nina’s head. …” The many monster faces of Nina”… Good title…lol
But, yes. You are making more sense than I. I must add that Nina may get pregnant, as I indicated below, albeit not necessarily Silas’ baby…..

I doubt Nina will get pregnant unless the writers go against nature. Women are in a hormonal flux during perimenopause…their hormones ebb and flow so yes, this is a stage where they can still conceive. Once a woman hasn’t had a period for one full year…and is in menopause…she can’t get pregnant. Regardless of age.

I seriously hope Kiki and Nina will find each other soon. If they are indeed mother and daughter, I want to know ASAP, before I go back to work.
One scenario of discovering the truth would be that either Kiki or Nina has a medical problem, needing a transfusion. The writers could go the same route as little Danny and Julian. After DNA testing of Nina and Kiki, voila’, the secret is no more.

I have been ever so steadfast in that declaration, Engrady…yes!!!!

Yes, rebecca. You are correct. But, had Nina missed a period, she would have known. Plus she would not have been so surprised at being told she was on the onset of menopause. Unless her body stopped responding to nature during her coma, what you say may very well be. I am assuming her female bodily functions are working, otherwise she would have questioned it. As long as she is menstruating, menopause or not, she could very well conceive. The writers would not go against nature. Actually, they would go against nature if they said she was unable to get pregnant.
My great-grandmother gave birth to my grandmother at the age of 49. That was in 1940, nine months after my great-grandfather left on board his naval ship…. I do love those stories.

CeeCee…You cannot be menstruating and be in menopause. Menopause means you haven’t had a period in a year…and you won’t ever again. As I posted, “peri” menopause is when you can still get pregnant. That’s the time leading up to full menopause…where your periods are no longer regular and you may skip a few months…but you still have eggs, still ovulate…can still get pregnant.

Brit told her she was already in menopause. Which means she didn’t have her period for one full year, which means she’s done having kids. Yes, technically a woman can still be ovulating til her mid 50s…and while extremely difficult could potentially still get pregnant as long as she still has her period…even sporadically. So, ya, she COULD get pregnant at her age if that was the case. Unless they clarify it and say she’s in peri menopause, she can’t, won’t. I have no idea how she wouldn’t notice that she didn’t have one for a full year…but then again i’m not sure how long she’s been awake…and if in her current mental state of obsession, revenge and smashing Silas’s apartment…if that was on her mind. Either Brit read the wrong test…or Nina’s not having a biological baby. Doesn’t mean she won’t steal one…or have a hysterical pregnancy and THINK she’s pregnant!

Loud and clear, Rebecca..lol. That’s my point. Is she ovulating or isn’t she? The writers just threw that bit of info. Inquiring minds want to know? I just have too much time on my hands, I guess…lol..albeit I .am feeling much more human lately.
But, we both agree that there will be some embryo/baby-stealing hanky-panky. I also had not thought of an hysterical pregnancy. Considering her mental state, it certainly makes sense

I think Kiki is Nina’s child, too. Ava loves Kiki, so maybe she was obsessed with Silas & wanted his child? Not sure how it came to be but it’s pretty obvious.

I truthfully don’t understand the hype over MS and her climbing the walls, swinging off the chandeliers style of acting. Much of what I’m seeing strikes me as a repeating pattern of her early Phyllis going after and ultimately running down LB’s Cricket (Christine) and DD’s Paul on Y&R. If I’m supposed to be feeling sorry for her and her plight, she’s got a lot of work to do. At this point I’m just wishing she was slated for removal from the canvas.

We share the same wishful thoughts…lol

lol
Nina is a glorious soap character..A true old fashioned not job character..
Nina is a trip .. she is a mess ..
I like her and MS is owning the character..
Nina has a long journey ahead of her, and it’s going to be fun to watch her go every which way..
Nina will turn.. they all turn ..
I’m wondering what her 180/turn will be … (it is coming 🙂

LOL

“…Nina will turn.. they all turn .. ”

Nina is a trip

fan anticipate…

The show is still bubbling

You know what, Beth?…as I read on, I realized I pretty much repeated what you wrote…oops. I guess our thoughts followed in the same vein…lol

Well, I like MS, but the climbing the walls stuff is over the top. The character is psychotic and getting hard to root for. I do like her with Franco because they’re both nutty. If like to see her exposed so we can see who she really is.

Nina really needs to go,, the acting leaves me gagging and the storyline is going nowhere ,,, ,fast!!! The actress may be a highly sought after one,, but not for me. Acting is beyond over the top

Over the Top is why we watch soaps!

There is too much violence on GH. Last week I saw several characters shot. I can’t tune in every day and watch such violence. Big fan of Maura West, Donna Mills, Ilene Kristen and Michele Stafford but I can’t trust this show.

well,
that is what GH is..
It’s a soap about mobsters who kill people and kidnap them and get shot and all that fun stuff..
GH is not like the other 3 soaps nor is it supposed to be..
That is why GH is unique, it stands out of the box alone..

but! among the shootings there is a ton of variety..
A lot of heart, humor, on the edge stories, and people going in different directions in their stories..

GH is what it is .. a soap about mobsters and crime, and some very strange and weird crap that is wild!! The only daytime fun!!
It is the best entertainment for the dollar 🙂 lol 🙂

And right now a dollar is about all its worth…lol…but it still has it good moments when the story makes a little cents…lol

Heart????? Where?

Mark, there is violence in the news everyday. Plus, this is GH, violence=hospital.

I think what Mark is saying is the violence is gratuitous and the show is so saturated with blood, that that violence ceases to be exciting or interesting. Macbeth is the bloodiest Shakespeare play, however, what makes it compelling is the dramatic dynamics which exist between the characters. The gratuitous violence of GH is not backed up by good and solid writing. This isn’t just an opinion–the writing is deplorable and cannot adhere to basic storyboard key notes: introduction, rising action, conflict, climax and finally, resolution.
The Sopranos was one of the most brilliant shows in television history and yes, it it was violent. But there was dramatic build up leading to that violence and then there were the pauses. To me, the most interesting moments of The Sopranos were the tense moments of silence between Carmella and Tony which spoke volumes about the state of their marriage. And of course, there was Tony standing in his backyard looking for his family of ducks. You see? The characters were fleshed out in such a way to make this show riveting–it wasn’t the violence.
A daytime drama which utilizes too much gratuitous violence and is inhabited by too many cartoonish, one dimensional, psychopathic villains becomes monochromatic and just plain boring.

Harry made a good point about the violence minus the storytelling. I get it.

Other than forcing us to watch a senseless violent act what was the point? No one really thought she was stabbing Silas for real did they? If they want to convey her love hate feelings for Silas, I think I prefer some passive aggressive type action. For example Nina could on impulse stick her foot out when he walks by causing him to trip and fall– was it an accident? Did she do it on purpose? She might spill hot coffee on him or use his razor so it will be dull and he cuts himself shaving— small, hostile actions that will keep us guessing what she might do next to the poor fellow. But a big knife, come on isn’t that Heather Webber’s MO.

Those little things you mention like tripping him ect., would actually be more interesting…write that to FV stat…cant wait for Heather to tell Franco how much Nina reminds her of herself…that should be enough to prevent Franco from fallen in love with Nina…lol…dont really care for Franco or Nina at the moment but they do have good chemistry together…imo!!!

I think they’re over using the fantasy device. They just had another one on Friday with Nina fantasizing her miracle pregnancy.

They don’t need to keep pounding on us how crazy Nina is. We all know she’s nuts.

The thing that bugs me is all of these crazy fantasy scenes will obviously be erased with a lazy brain tumor type plot device. No doubt insta good guy Franco will play the hero by being first to realize not all is right with Nina.

A little more subtlety and depth to the writing would be nice.

Hi, KM. I might be wrong…usually am. But, I think the reason the writers do that is to show the viewer that Nina’s fantasies are not always violent. That there is a loving, serene, lovable person in there somewhere

Hi CeeCee. That’s a very interesting POV but as a former OLTL viewer I have to say in my experience Cartini aren’t that subtle. Wish they were. Your post is exactly what I was trying to express in my wanting more depth, more shades of grey to characters. I wish Cartini were doing that but instead they take everything over the top and then just sweep it all under the rug with the next crazy plot point.

I also think that what will really tame the beast in Nina is the discovery that Kiki is hers, KM. But, I do hope Cartini does not sweep this storyline under the rug.
It will be interesting to see how all this will unfold. Will Kiki meet with a terrible mishap, needing a rare type of blood that only Nina can provide? Will this compel Ava to step forth and tell the truth? ….the suspense kills…lol

….or, now that I think about it, and if my memory serves me right, jimh suggested another scenario a while ago. After todays’s episode, I think Jimh’s idea is viable.
I had that inexplicable goose-bumpy feeling that Nina was actually threatening Kiki to Ava. Jimh has posted that Nina would go nuts and try to do Kiki harm, but then Ava swoops in and admits who Kiki really is in order to save her. Whew, that was lengthy.!!! Lol

I never saw her Y & R work, so…..but I’m loving her batshit scenery chewing work here. I look forward to her scenes now. And Nina vs. Ava??? Bring it on!!

Reading and memorizing lines is one thing but jumping off the TV screen is another. Michelle is knocking it out of the park! She will go down in GH history as one of the all time greats!

Yeah, William. We knew that was coming to a head. The meeting between Nina and Ava was expected and awaited with bated breath….I hope it is as explosive as it promises to be.

if your husband acted like you ruined his whole day because you had the nerve to wake up from a coma after 20 years and upset his girlfriend, woudn’t you want to stab his sorry ass too. this story set up is so messed up to begin with, why did she have to be in a coma for 20 years, instead of 5years? i know this is a soap and we have to sometime not overthink things but 20 years for anyone is to long, less years would of been more convincing , i know they want us to think the 20 mess her up mentally, but the truth is 20 years she would now be walking or talking or even remember anything so right there this makes this storyline flawed. if i’m suppose to cheer for silas and sam to be together and for nina to be the crazy one, then i’m sorry but i’m no fan of either sam or silas, they both acted like immature teens whose boring love story was ruined from the the wife who had the nerve to wake up. pleaaase!

Your right, it should have been five years because one, we never knew these characters until last year and two, the writers are too lazy to write a 20 plus year old coma story. They said its that long but Nina never talks about how much technology has changed, the presidency, gas prices, or 911. She would have so much to learn and not just worry about her physical status. Lazy, lazy, lay.

You go girl…Aria, took the words right out of my mouth.

I disagree, Aria. I don’t think either Sam or Silas acted like she “ruined” their day. But in fact, she did ruin their lives! That doesn’t mean that Silas wasn’t beyond relieved, happy, overjoyed that she was alive. And Michael Easton doesn’t do overjoyed as most would do. He’s a very laid back, subtle character. He does it with a smile, with eyes that gaze searchingly over someone’s face. He showed it by taking care of her, having her live with him even to the detriment of his relationship with Sam. He put Nina first..which is why Sam felt it and left.

Silas is not to be blamed that he, wow…after 20 years!!! finally moved on and fell in love. He’s not to be blamed for a rush of mass confusion when his past walks in on his present. It must be a whirlwind of emotion, confusion, guilt, can’t even imagine.

As for Nina, can’t blame her either. Emotions are complicated at the best of times. I think Sam acted maturely and responsibly by walking away (though I didn’t want her to; I like them together) and Silas acted maturely by still allowing, yes allowing, Nina to stay with him.

No complaints from me toward Silas or Sam.

Oh, but I do, rebecca…I can complain. “Michael Easton doesn’t do overjoyed as most people would do”
Exactly! Michael does not, but Silas should, unless Michael is just like Silas. Easton is an actor afterall. He should show feelings…it may be typical for the actor, but should it be for the character?…why does he brood? He is not the master of WUTHERING HEIGHTS. If he is a brooding person by nature, that’s fine, albeit I’d climb the walls if I were in a relationship or married to someone like that. Talking to him would be like pulling teeth. I love to talk…can you tell? Lol.
He should be on his knees begging Nina for forgiveness for betraying her….everything else catapulted from there for her. I hope Nina comes through this mental disorder with flying colors. As su000 said, “Nina will turn”. I believe that. My heart bleeds for her…please writers, let Nina come out on top.
And, rebecca…this is just my opinion, I hope I did not come off as giving you a snide retort…not in my nature…it’s good to agree some of the time and by the same token, disagree.

Hi again CeeCee. No offense taken…this forum is to exchange opinions.

What I meant when I said “Michael doesn’t do…” is his method of acting. Granted I haven’t seen him in anything other than soaps…and they’ve kept McBain and Silas (never knew him as vampire Caleb) but they’ve kept the fictional character pretty much the same. So yes, when I say MICHAEL doesn’t do…well…that’s his method, his stlyle…of acting in the way his character is written.

Silas isn’t written as a gregarious, life–of-the-party sorta guy. We’ve never seen him jump for joy…even when he proclaimed his love for Sam it was happy, joyous…yet at the same time relatively mellow. He’s not Todd Manning…or Franco…or Felix…or Dante, Scotty or Luke. I see them more “animated.”

Sonny (yes, your dreaded Sonny), Patrick, Nicolas…they’re all rather contained.

Michael as an actor, when conveying emotion does so with expression. I see it in his eyes, his gaze, his slow smile, a quizzical look. Again, his character to my mind seems to be written close to McBain…a man who is rather serious, aloof…yet with a great capacity for love. I really felt his grief over Rafe. I thought he portrayed sorrow quite effectively.

On his knees begging Nina for forgiveness? For what? She’s been thought dead for twenty years!!!!! He didn’t put her in the coma. And even though he’d moved on…and let’s not forget he hadn’t moved on til he met Sam…that’s a REALLY long time…he STILL honored the fact that unbeknownst to him he was legally still a huband…and insisted she stay with him. EVEN…to the detriment of his relationship with Sam. I’m sure he was torn between his old feelings and his new ones.

As for Nina? She drives me nuts! I simultaneously find her intriguing and creepy. I don’t blame her for her confusion…for her madness…(and I don’t mean angry I mean psycho). Everything that was done to her, all that was taken away…the time she’s lost. I get it. But I’m not rooting for a Silas/Nina pairing. I think she’d be great fun with Franco. But if she doesn’t soften a bit and gain some sense of normalcy (with INTENSE therapy)…I’m just going to find her every bit of annoying as Shay finds Sabrina! 😉

And as an afterthought…I think Nina can be a very interesting character, and as I’ve posted several times I like her best with Franco. She shows her true colors with him…to an extent. And, I always root for the underdog. I just don’t think Silas is the dog…meaning I may root for her happiness…but I don’t blame Silas for anything she’s going through.

Ha ha, rebecca1! FYI…on my personal “Sappy Annoyance Scale (1-10)” the eponymous nurse rates a whopping “11”….however, she is definitely trending upward with that emerging “p!$$y miss” attitude of hers, while Nina the Nutter currently garners an 8.5, and her grating sidekick, “Grossalie” a 9. Compare that with the always arrogant Ava at a somewhat bearable 7.5 and the ever-sanctimonious Alexis a long entrenched 8……(although her heaving cleavage alone earns a 9.5!) ; )

I swear, this site highlights more mundane and stupid GH moments than any other site.

Michael, I love you and respect your reporting and your site, but at least twice a week (if not more) something from GH is recapped while no other show gets as much devoted to it. All this is to me is making news, giving GH news, when there is none. Don’t worry, GH is no longer the “ugly unwanted stepchild” in the soap world. You are making sure of that.

lol
GH constantly has change, something going on and changing all the time to report on…
Y&R and the others stays the same, long stories nothing new with the same 8-12 people on screen every day, day after day week after week month after month, the same 9 people on screen in their long stories.
GH has something new happening frequently to report..

GH stories moves fast so new stories to report on..
GH has people coming and going all the time, someone new come in or old vets back, to report on..
And the stories have twists turns surprises to report on..
So yah.. GH does have way more going on than the others soaps, much more to report about..
And the stories are full of shockers and surprises to report on..
other soaps do not have the same uniqueness as GH has going on.

When the other soaps have someone coming or going, it is reported..
new billy, new Phyllis, all reported..
when they have big stories/shockers it is reported.. thing is they are not GH 🙂

I think Michael is very fair in his coverage of the four remaining soaps. There are a lot of GH stories, there are also a lot of Y&R, Days and B&B stories. It also happens that the GH stories are the ones that receive by far the most number of responses, so it stands to reason that he would post stories that are gonna generate the most interest among readers of this site.

And personally, there’s enough doom and gloom “sky is falling” negativity in the comments on this site, it’s refreshing to see someone like Michael that is actually trying to be positive about GH, instead of harping and moaning about how the show every chance he gets.

Could it be because GH has more mundane and stupid moments from which to choose than any of the other three soaps, Jules? It often seems to me that at least half of the show consists of such examples of inane, inappropriate or downright unimportant filler scenes that have little to nothing to do with the actual storylines.

Nay, Shay. The word ‘mundane’ conjures up uninteresting characters with nowhere to go, nothing to do. The word ‘mundane’ has Nikki Newman, Dullard Dylan and girlfriend Aubrey, Neil winters and family written all over it….I ask, what is the point of Neil’s blindness? just to name a few. In comparison, GH is the life of the party. Thank you Michael for your steadfastness in offering us the opportunity of making our voices heard. I, for one, am very appreciative.
For those of us who are/were former, avid fans of Y&R can attest that since the exit of MS, MM, BM, and yes, even little Delia, the show has been going downhill….Sharon with her constant damsel in distress syndrome, Victor with his compulsion to constantly stick his big, I – smell-a-rat nose in everyone’s business, and Nikki’s, “I need a drink, cry me a river, pucker my mouth and stick my nose further up in the air, so I can pooh-pooh all over these little people ” attitude.
I still watch Y&R…I won’t stop. I am grateful it is still on…better than nothing. But, I am in love with GH at the moment. I look forward to watching it everyday….not a dull moment.

And Cee Cee, why do the African American soap characters always have to be the ones to go blind. On AMC, it was Dr. Angie Hubbard. On Days it was that police officer whose name escapes me. Moreover, Cane just warned Neil not to play with the electrical cords because it was dangerous. So, Neil is not just stupid, he’s now blind because of it.
Having said that, Y&R has picked up the pace delivering interesting character driven stories. Yes, there are a lot of problems that still need ironing out but at least they are being ironed out. I don’t feel that way about GH.

Well, Shay as my friend Osgood Fielding from Some Like it Hot said, “Nobody’s perfect.” (Unless you’re Sparkle Pony, thus proving that perfection is boring.)
On the subject of Nina. I cannot fathom for the life of me that this is the same girl about whom Silas waxed poetic. With tears welling in his eyes, he unraveled a picturesque visual of sweet little Nina in her knee socks, saddle shoes and private school uniform skipping down the sidewalk while licking her lollipop. The day AJ, a major character died, we viewers and poor Sam were subjected to Silas sobbing and honking loudly into his handkerchief (interestingly enough, with the initials JM embroidered on it) about his sweet little Nina. I looked at Sam and thought she must be thinking,”Talk about a buzz kill.”
But we tolerated it because, well, she was NINA! We grew to love her. And now we get this slippery, psychotic snake. Apparently, Port Charles is over populated with this ilk–there must be something in the water. It’s as if the writers are making up this character as they go along–as if they didn’t know who Nina was going to be until Michelle Stafford was cast in the role. Sometimes I look at Nina fully expecting a silvery forked town to dart out between those slippery thin lips. We knew Nina before she became a psychopath.

To me, Y&R is like CSI, everyone talks about it but its pretty straight and narrow. GH is like Seinfeld. Its out in left field so there is more to pick apart and analyze. I like them both because they are so different.

I think this site is fairly balance but GH has more water cooler moments, which is why it tends to get more coverage. Water cooler moments, are those moments on a television show that gets everyone talking about it the next day at work— Water cooler talks are the prehistoric version of social media and trending for the young folk out there.

GH creates a lot buzz with these types of types scenes, stabbings, crypt sex, etc—- and this site just follows the buzz, which is the title of this section, news and buzz. Of course I find GH fans and haters seem to be more vocal than the other soap, so if you’re running a soap website trying to generate a lot of comments GH is always a safe bet to get a conversation going, which may be another explanation.

But I get what you mean, when I first came to this site I never watched GH but because so many of the articles where about that show I started watching just so I could participate in the all the discussion around this show— LOL.

Yes, a lot of buzz–like a bumblebee with no stinger left.

@Harry

I’m just assuming Nina was who Silas remembered and reminisced about. Operative word…WAS. How could anyone be the sweet, innocent, running through fields of poppy whilst laughing joyously person after spending 23 (it’s been upped to make room for daughter Kiki)? And let’s not forget…he only sees that innocent act she puts on even now…only we get to see her over-the-top maniacal ways…

@Jules et al…I don’t know why you would feel Nina’s fantasy stabbing of Silas is stupid, inane, mundane, inconsequential any or all of the above. It’s a great way to show Nina’s emotionally battered mental state. She’s simultaneously in love with Silas…and yet she has a deep-seated well of wrath, resentment, jealousy…a sense of betrayal…a desire to lash out at him and hurt him…and yet have his baby and go back to the way they were.

As for some other grievances that some (or much, depending on who’s griping) of GH is filler…I think a show that’s on five days a week SHOULD be filler. And by that I mean watching people every day…watching them do ordinary things, engage in ordinary conversation, entertain thoughts of threesomes, jealousy, rivalry, gossip, flirtations, Ruby diner chats…theyr’e not action-packed but they’re a look into the lives of the characters…which elicits our attachment to them. Which is juxtaposed to the over-the-top stories, the action, the crimes, the who-dunnits… I like the balance.

GH is not the same soap it was in its inception. It’s not Steve Hardy, Audrey, etc…It’s like an old neighborhood that you grew up in…and many of the neighbors are gone. But the history, the memories are there…as are the new residents (pun intended). So I weave in and out of the stories and the characters lives…love seeing and getting into the staples (Anna, Felicia, Mac, Monica, Tracy, Luke, Scotty, Lucy, Bobby, Duke, Sonny (where IS he!!!???), the generation after staples (Liz, Nicolas, Maxie, Lulu…) and so on.

I’m not usually bored with GH. If anything, I think the “hour” is up too soon. That’s why I enjoy not seeing the show many times during the week and binging on the weekend or insomnia nights! 😉

Well said, Rebecca! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I do the same as you. Work during the week, put my feet up and relax on the weekends and escape with the previous week’s GH. It’s something I look forward to doing every weekend. I think if some people watched the show with that in mind, that the show is supposed to be a fun escape from our every day lives, not to be taken so seriously, they would enjoy it a lot more. Just my opinion.

@Dan. Why thank you! Here’s to relaxing weekends…(though even better after a fun-filled weekend in REAL life…and THEN settling down for a good binge!

@rebecca1….It’s not necessarily only the “what” of the fillers that bore me, but the “who.” It has been stated oft times before: there are simply toooo many unnecessary characters on the GH canvas, and quite a few are absolute wastes of time and space. There is nothing about them to grab one to make you care about said individuals. Thus, when you take these uninteresting, fringe “people,” put them into frequently contrived, absurd or ridiculous scenarios that offer nothing to moving along the major storylines, then, yes, you do get mundane, stupid, inane, inconsequential….take your pick of descriptions. Furthermore, when you add the breathless promos that act as if something important and earth-shattering (aka, “Epic!”) is going to occur with these non-essential minor players, then you are totally setting up the opportunity for such criticisms. So, yeah, I stand by my initial remarks. As for Harry’s assessment of “La Nina,” and how she falls quite woefully short of the vision we were led to expect, I propose that it is not just her foreshadowed personality traits that created the disillusionment we have observed, but her physical embodiment, as well. Silas’s wife was supposed to be this soft, delicate, gentle and vivacious creature….practically angelic in visage, and what we ended up getting instead was a hard-edged, angular, po-faced woman of Amazonian proportions. Talk about a bait-and-switch!!!! Lastly, I sent you (as well as CeeCee…) a number of replies that didn’t make it to post, but I hope you received them in your inbox anyway….

Ms. Stafford is GOLD! Best thing to happen the General Hospital in years.

Amen!

I LOVE Michelle too

I found it a little boring. I love GH, but get a little tired of these big moments pre-commercial that turn out to be nothing after commercials. A bit lame.

Its a game. I dont mind them. The guys running the show are huge fans of the nighttime soaps from the 80’s and thats where you get moments like this. You didnt actually think Nina stabbed Silas? Too early in the storyline.

They need to remove Nina from Silas’ orbit ASAP. Whenever Michelle Stafford shares scenes with Michael Easton, it really shows how weak of an actor Michael Easton is. Also, their scenes are coma inducing. The writers should consider pairing Nina and Franco. Michelle Stafford and Roger Howarth have great chemistry and frankly I only like Nina and Franco when they are in scenes together.

I like Franco and Nina too. It’s in her scenes with him that they’ve shown her to have some semblance of a heart; she certainly didn’t show it for Rafe. But when she thought Franco was going to hurt himself in the elevator she flew out of her chair to reach out to him. For her to do that, to forget her own scam out of worry for him…has got to, or should, count for something regarding the future of these two.

Right on, Lady Truth! I have been saying that very thing since the first Nina/Franco meeting. As a couple, these two exude that ‘Je ne sais quoi ‘ quality, unlike warty , cheating Carly and Franco. The couple , Nina and Franco, has that IT factor rarely found in actors as they interact. When it happens, the viewer sees it, senses it…is transported into their world by it…and feels what the actors are trying to convey. That’s what I saw and felt between Easton /McBain and Archer/Buchanon…..That’s what I saw and felt between Morrow/Newman and Stafford/Summers. Well, actually, I must say that Ms Stafford pretty much connected with all her leading men on Y&R. She surpassed the true definition of vixen.
I predict that as soon as Nina arises and vacates that encumbrant wheel chair for good, her true colors , as the sexy minx , will arise with her.

CeeCee…girlfriend, if you don’t mind (or whatever), add ME to the list!!!!! HELL TO THE YEAH!!!!! To me, onscreen-wise, Michelle Stafford’s Nina has W-A-Y MORE CHEMISTRY with Roger Howarth’s Franco!!!!! As for that SNIVELING Silas…BLAH BLAH BLAH AND MORE BLAH!!!!! Nope.

Take care, CeeCee. XOXOXOXOXO

I see RC and team putting Nina and Franco together..
It might not a big love affair but it will be a very good happening, for sure..
We just have to wait for it- Nina and Franco, it is coming! 🙂

You are so right. Silas’s personality would put anyone in a coma!

@Timmm…I’m laughing at what you said…hahahhaha…but I feel bad about it. I love Silas! 🙂

he was good (acting) on OLTL… I think they’re just showing how Silas and Nina are not meant for each other. 🙂 They’re married on paper, but obviously not in mind. No good chemistry between them.

If I had been Silas, I would have put her up in an apartment – never moved her in with me, and would have filed for divorce long ago while she was “alive and in a coma”. And, gees, investigate that “I have no money” line! ha!

Looking forward to nina vs ava showdown. Gosh, i hope nina lunges out of her wheelchair and chokes ava. Lol thats my fantasy.. Am i going nuts like Nina 🙂

ohh aaayy!
Nina vs Ava will be explosive!
And I can see Nina dragging Franco into it 🙂
And- Sonny will not allow anyone but himself to mess with or kill Ava..
Sonny will be involved with Ava..
So– Nina, Franco vs Sonny and Ava !! wow factor!

Nina wants Ava destruction..
Frano wants Sonny destruction ..

Well whatever happens we are going to have to wait an extra day this week 🙁

Never saw her on Y&R so this is all new to me. I go back and forth about Nina – but Kiki is surely the child that she thinks she lost.

I also think Rosalie is Sabrina’s sister creating a good girl/bad girl dynamic.

I hope Kiki is Nina’s daughter and Nina stabs her!

Thank you, Timmm! No further explanation needed! Just send Kiki packing!

You just made me chuckle, Timmm. …must admit that’s funny.

never thought I’d miss Cartini’s oltl penchant for serial killers, but the idea of a female serial killer, particularly if she;ll trim male dead weight on this show would be great–and particuarly if she wouldn’t run around gloating so people don’t know who it is–would be great to have a villain that we know is a villain but the rest of the characters don’t (and they don’t know because s/he is clever, not like Fluke whom everyone should have caught onto by now)

How about if we stack Silas, James, Lesel, Lucy, Sabrina, Levi, Kiki, and Felix on top of each other and THEN Nina stabs them!

Please add Kiki.

Oops, I see that you did. Please put her first on the list!

Well, at least Sappy, Felix and Lucy….for sure! Then add TJ, Jordan, Grossalie, Bobbie and Scotty!!!!

I find their scenes really sort of uneasy. Maybe that’s how they are playing it off since the couple have not been around each other for 20+ years. Not sure. It just doesn’t feel as if their scenes flow or come naturally. The morning after talk was awful.

I know what you mean. We are definitely in agreement with this one…lol.
This couple is not meant to be as one. ….too stilted. Then again, I suppose
if these two can impart that message to us, it is due to good acting. You are right,
dmr, the morning after was pathetic…and, the night of was mechanical…no passion.

MS and ME have zero chemistry. I am at a complete loss as to why anyone in their right mind would think pairing this two up would be a good idea. Move Nina to Franco and have some kick Silas off of Pier 52.

Nope, not me. I love Silas. Once he’s out of Nina’s orbit, he’ll be back to his smart, snarky, brilliant self again. Looking forward to that. 😉

General Hospital

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.

The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.

When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.

When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

Photo: ABC

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Photo: ABC

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.

Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)

As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.

Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew.  In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.

Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

Photo: GSN

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

Meanwhile, on GH, Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) recently had hate-sex. Do you think its a one-time deal? Where will Drew’s story take him next under new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers

Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.

In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.

Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Courtesy/ABC

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work.  Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her.  Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.

From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy.  Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Courtesy/ABC

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

The episode and these scenes featured great performances by Cynthia Watros and Maura West. You can check some of the scenes below.

Now, let us know, what is Ava’s next move? Is she going to become Mrs. Sonny Corinthos? Do you like Ava and Nina as enemies? Comment below.
