General Hospital Preview: Will Eddie Maine Fall For, or Befriend, Nina?

This week on General Hospital, upcoming previews and more indicate that Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) secret of turning Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) over to the SEC, may still wind up under wraps, if she and luck have anything to do with it.

In the latest ABC promo for the daytime drama series, as Ned (who currently believes he is rock star and his alter-ego, Eddie Maine) comes upon Nina, she is very concerned.  Meanwhile, the voice-over announce shares, “A man who doesn’t know who he is!”

Now in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, Wally Kurth (Ned/Eddie Maine) chats on that Maine gets an offer from none other than Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to stay with him when Eddie does not want to go back and live with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) at the Quartermaines.  However, when Sonny gets called away, Nina tries to convince Eddie that staying with Sonny is not a good idea.

Kurth shared: “When he says ‘I have no reason to stay here,’  she’s (Nina) the one saying, ‘That’s not a bad idea.’ She seems to be much more understanding of Ned’s dilemma in a way that other people aren’t and he appreciates that. He actually really likes her and trusts her, because she’s not challenging him to remember things, he doesn’t or telling him he needs to be someone he’s not.”

Oh-oh! Is Eddie going to fall for Nina? That would certainly complicated things for everyone, or could it be that Ned is faking being the rock star to get the goods on her?

Elsewhere in the promo, a devastated Ava (Maura West) learns her daughter Avery is missing while Mason is back putting the screws on Austin (Roger Howarth) or is he?

Watch the GH Preview below.  Then, let us know, do you think Nina is going to have to play up being ‘in to” Eddie Maine, to keep him off the track of what she really did to Carly and Drew? Is Ned faking his amnesia? Could all of this be the final straw that has Sonny kick Nina to the curb? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

So Nina preys on some guy with amnesia, and feeds his delusions to serve her own purposes, despite the suffering of his entire family.

Uh…. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this already. And it’s definitely NOT a story worth repeating…especially since the first version never really ended.

Do the writers hate Nina? Make it stop. Let Eddie fall for Lois, who is rumored to return.

Nina certainly seems to have a “type” -married and amnesiac lol!

Nina, still doing what she does best, sneaking around, nosing in everyone’s business and things she knows nothing about like Eddie/Ned except trying to get him out of town before his memory returns and he blows the whistle on her.

Just an add-on here about the question of wether Eddie will fall for Nina. Was just thinking that if he does, he’ll unfall for her pretty damn quick when Ned returns and realizes all the trouble she’s caused him.

Agreed, Violet—I love Nina, but, I repeat, she should come out with it. She committed no crime, but she’s digging a deeper hole which will make her look like the bad guy. I understand she’s not one of the favorites but her “crimes” pale in compact to Carly’s—-She and fake Drew actually committed a crime. Nina is just a snitch. She should unburden herself from all this imbroglio.

Where is the actress who plays Monica, she has been away at least a year?

matt mathews,
I’d hazard a guess by saying she probably is unwell or just unable to portray Monica any longer but the show is just not ready to cut the ties permanently. They’ve already lost some of their cast and haven’t even addressed Bobbie’s death yet. I just hope they don’t try to replace Monica, she was a too important part of GH.

I’ll second Violet’s presumption about Leslie Charleson (Monica). She did make an audio appearance on the Epiphany tribute episode. If the writers were clever (and Leslie willing) they’d have other opportunities for Monica to call into a scene.

In the late 80s, long time viewers will recall a multiple years long stint when David Lewis (Edward #1) didn’t appear on camera – only as a voice Lila heard. It was a clever way for them to keep Edward a part of the canvas until Lewis came back on camera for a few years before John Ingle assumed the role.

At this point, the show’s not going to permanently recast a 45-year veteran.

Due to the writers’ strike and now Genie Francis’ annual summer sabbatical, we probably won’t see Bobbie’s passing written in until much later in the fall.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Take a look at the official GH spoilers for the week below.

MONDAY, AUGUST 3
Jason makes a sacrifice for Danny. Elizabeth becomes privy to a secret. Carly is touched. Valentin has a warning for Nina. Josslyn cautions Brennan.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4
Brook Lynn and Chase celebrate a milestone. Trina gets an earful. Carly’s plan backfires. Curtis is skeptical. Michael is anxious about his family’s’ future.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7

Check out the latest ABC promo for General Hospital entitled, “What Did You Do?” below.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
