GENERAL HOSPITAL: Everyone Dumps on Lois Except Sonny; Nina Gets The Ammo She Needs to Blow Michael’s Custody Case for His Kids Sky High

The Wednesday, May 28 episode of General Hospital continued the fallout from the Nurses’ Ball with excellent performances by the cast in abundance led by Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn), Rena Sofer (Lois) and Giovanni Mazza (Gio).

At the Quartermaine’s, Gio walks out on Brook Lynn and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) after learning he is their biological son. As he leaves, Brook Lynn tells Gio not to blame Dante, because he had no idea she was pregnant with his child. Brook Lynn explains she gave him up at birth. That confirms in Gio’s mind that she didn’t want him and she forgot all about him.

Brook Lynn says she didn’t forget about him, but she felt if she came looking for him, it would tears his life apart. Gio storms out with Emma (Braedyn Bruner) in tow. Next, Dante and Brook Lynn have it out. Dante doesn’t understand why Brook Lynn didn’t tell him years ago and carried this secret and has been lying to his face for over 22 years. Brook Lynn said the only choice she had was to keep it buried and when pressed by Dante, she says it is likely she would never have told him truth.

Next, when Chase (Josh Swickard) enters the room, Dante realizes he knew about the baby as well, but Chase explained he only found out a few months ago, and had no idea the baby was Gio. Dante is trying to piece this together that if no one else knew about Gio’s true parentage, how he learned the truth? (Wait till he finds out Lulu’s major part in all of this!)

Courtesy/ABC

Emma (Braedyn Bruner) takes Gio to the bridge where her mother, Robin and Jason used to meet. He explains how he overheard Lois and Lulu talking about Brook Lynn and Dante being his parents. Next, Emma asks why he smashed his violin to pieces?

Back at the Metro Court, Lois is sitting by herself gutted over Brook Lynn and Gio learning the truth, plus that her daughter wants nothing more to do with her, when Ned (Wally Kurth) shows up. He lays into Lois that he is Brook Lynn’s father, why wasn’t he owed the truth? Lois explains that Brook Lynn felt shame over her pregnancy. Things take a turn when Lois tells Ned she didn’t want the Quartermaines trying to own the child! Lois says she thought she was doing right thing, but Ned says it wasn’t fair.

At that moment, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) shows up and the two best friends have it out. Olivia chastises Lois for doing what was best for her, not Brook Lynn. Next, Lois throws it back in Olivia’s face reminding her she didn’t tell Sonny he was Dante’s father and look what happened there! Olivia says she was protecting Dante from Sonny’s enemies. Lois tries to explain that Gio grew up in the neighborhood and had a mother, Camilla, who loved him. Olivia gets more pissed off and tells Lois that she let Gio believe he was an orphan when his parents were right in front of him.

When Lois tells Olivia she didn’t want Brook Lynn to end up like Olivia was: alone, a single mother who had to make all kinds of sacrifices. Olivia says she didn’t make sacrifices, she loved her baby, and no longer wants to be friends with her. Lois is devastated that she is now the town pariah until Sonny (Maurice Benard) walks up to her.

Lois tells Sonny that Gio and Camilla had a special connection, and she didn’t want to mess with that. She says she kept the secret originally to protect Brook Lynn and later Gio. Sonny realizes when she asked him to pay for Gio’s education, it was a way for him to be a part of his grandson’s life without knowing it. Sonny says he appreciates what she tried to do. Lois is in tears realizing she lost Brook Lynn and now Olivia.

Carly (Laura Wright) comes home to see Michael (Rory Gibson). Jason (Steve Burton) is there and so is Josslyn (Eden McCoy). Michael explains that Diane told him about the custody hearing for Amelia and Wiley and he decided even though he wasn’t completely healed, it was time to return to Port Charles. Michael asks about the hearing, and Carly apologizes for overstepping, as she hopes he is not mad at her. Michael says she did the right thing. Later, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) shows up at Carly’s and begs Michael not to take her kids from her.

Meanwhile, Nina (Cynthia Watros) meets with Maxie (Kirsten Storms) for a drink and the two discuss Willow’s chance to get custody of her children, but in order for her to have any chance of ever seeing her kids, she needs to get rid of Drew (Cameron Mathison).  Nina worries if she tells Willow about her dalliance with Drew (Cameron Mathison), that her daughter will never speak to her again. When the discussion turns to Sasha and Jason, and how even though she is presumably pregnant with his child, they aren’t really together, Nina’s wheels begin to turn. She asks Maxie when she thought Sasha got knocked up.. Maxie says it happened the night before Halloween.

Courtesy/ABC

Next, Nina pays off the bartender to get some intel about that night and shows him a picture of Sasha. Turns out he is infatuated with Ms. Corbin. The bartender remembers Sasha with a guy, but not Jason. Nina shows him a photo of Michael. The bartender says that he was the guy, and that he and Sasha were very drunk, all over each other, and left the bar together. BINGO ! Nina has her leverage against Michael!

As GREAT as the acting has been, this retcon storyline still has many holes – mainly the timeline as it relates to Sonny.

BLQ refers to him as “Uncle” implying he was around while she grew up in Bensonhurst. BLQ knew Olivia and Dante. And everyone, including Sonny knew Gio (and Camilla). How then, did Sonny not know Dante when he posed as an undercover cop when he first came to PC?

Wednesday, Olivia called Lois the closest thing she had to a sister. Connie was probably rolling over in her grave on that one.

How soon until Gio starts referring to his new relatives as Aunt Donna, Aunt Avery, and Uncle Leo?

It’s still riveting to watch – despite the convoluted premise.

And shout out to Nina for being the smartest person of the day.

The Connie oversight gave me pause also. I didn’t even think about the absurdity of Sonny not being familiar with Dante since they’re all from the same neighborhood. Good point!

All outstanding performances! I am back eagerly awaiting the next episode.

First of all, Rory Gibson is killing it as Michael so far. He’s slipped into the role seamlessly, and already has chemistry with everyone he’s interacted with. This recast is a win!

Secondly, why should it matter to the custody case that Michael is Sasha’s babydaddy? It’s not a crime to get drunk and hook up with someone, and they have a romantic history. If anything, Michael’s own past crime and his family’s history should be enough. I just don’t see why a judge would think Michael is an unfit parent if he’s having a baby with Sasha, who it seems like the writers are going to pair together anyway.

Finally, WHY on earth hasn’t Nina told Willow about her affair with Drew!? The second Willow told Nina about their kiss on the fourth of July last year, Nina should have told her. If Nina really wants Willow away from Drew, which would be best for everyone (including the kids), she’s had a million chances to make that happen. It makes zero sense that she’s kept quiet about this.

Nina is terrified of doing ANYTHING that might alienate herself from Willow, and confessing to her daughter that she’s slept with Drew would most assuredly do that.

Yes it would. But damn it, I realize Nina has permanent scarring from her mother stealing her newborns over 25 years ago but isn’t it time she realize that Willow ain’t worth it? Why is it all the neurotics from Port Charles refuse to get the psychotherapy they so desperately need? GH used to have Dr Gail Baldwin, Dr Kevin Collins and long ago, Dr Katz who so brilliantly treated Heather Weber. Port Charles has turned into a giant fruit cake but no one is tending to the nuts.

It still gets me that the non-important character of Silas Clay got 3 biological children. What’s funny is that of those 3 (Kiki, Nellie and Willow), Kiki was the sanest.

Performances were noteworthy. Still concerned that all soaps were down in viewers during May sweeps including GH at 1.85M. All were under 3M. Casting changes are taking their toll on GH. The Michael replacement is the only bright spot.

Which casting changes are “taking their toll”? The Lulu, Lucas, and even Emma recasts are doing quite well.

Must be Drew. The new Emma is outstanding.

The new Emma is fantastic and she looks a lot like Anna, her grandmother. I love seeing the two of them next to each other:)

And the new Molly is also fantastic!

It’s not the casting changes. It’s the long, drawn-out storylines that are causing the waning interest. I stopped watching Y&R for the same reason. We seriously need to pick up the pace on this stuff … and stop dropping storylines (Austin’s murder, Scotty’s disappearance, Jagger’s murder, etc.) without resolution. I’m fine with the recasts, and I think that the new faces on Michael, Emma and especially Lulu are spot-on.

I’ll actually pay a compliment to the writers about something: I liked how not everyone dumped on Lois. I liked how they allowed at least one character be an exception (in this case Sonny.)

The ironic thing here is that Sonny has been down this road twice before, and he’s taking the news far better than Olivia or Ned are. But it was Olivia and Ned who lied to Sonny previously.

Ned pretended to be Kristina’s father when she was a baby. Until she got sick. And then Sonny had to know, due to the old cliche of medical testing… which also resulted in Sam finding out Alexis was her mother.

And then of course Olivia never told Sonny about Dante. And watched as her son infiltrated Corinthos Coffee, LLC as an undercover cop, somehow not realizing how that was going to end really badly. Which of course it did. Though thankfully Dante survived, and eventually formed a decent relationship with his father, despite the occasional conflict due to their respective occupations.

Maybe Sonny’s just trying not to react to things too quickly, given his recent heart issues, but it’s almost like he’s taking this news TOO well.

Good point about both Ned and Olivia lying to Sonny in the past.

From a storyline purpose, Sonny has some other things going on, so to have him be at odds with Lois could take away time from those. Whereas this is Ned and Olivia’s only story currently.

Also, it gives Lois an excuse to go live with him for a while since she’s probably as welcomed in the mansion as Drew is right now.

I didn’t even know about Ned pretending to be Kristina’s father. Yikes! Yeah, it would have made more sense if Ned and Olivia had been the ones who were softer on Lois since they are guilty of paternity lies themselves.

everyone has been great but i could help but feel sorry for louis, she really messed up but it wasnt’ out of malice, i hope she doesn’t leave town, Lulu really is one busybody, hope brooklyn smacks her silly. NuMichael and Willow look hot together, I see her falling for michael again, and yes she’s made a huge mistake with hooking up and her affair with Drew but I can’t bring myself to hate her. Drew on the other hand is a sleazball Cameron Mathinson is doing a great job playing Drew as a asshole villian. I can’t wait for Drew and Michael to have a Ab off , whose got the six pack ?

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
