GENERAL HOSPITAL: Valentin’s Running Pikeman and His Plan to Take Down Sonny Revealed; Dante Wakes Up and Clears Jason
The Friday, March 29th episode of General Hospital brought with it revelations, a welcome wake-up, plus several emotional beats that served up a much-needed story shake-up.
In a shocker, Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) is back and is being escorted in a prison transport van from Pentonville. He asks the driver where are they going? The driver pulls over, and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) hops in. It is then the conversation becomes very intriguing. Brennan tells Valentin he thought he had abandoned him. Valentin says Brennan left him with a mess and he has to put out all the fires. Brennan thought maybe he’d let Pikeman burn down around him!
Next, Valentin tells Brennan how was it that no one at Pikeman knew Jason (Steve Burton) was working as an inside informant under the name Alan Jacobs. He continues sharing that Jason worked his way up in the company from the bottom. Someone should have figured this out. Valentin snarls that there are no worries because soon Jason will be joining Brennan at Pentonville for shooting Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). Brennan asks Valentin, does Jason know that Valentin has been running Pikeman since he has been arrested?

Valentin tells Brennan that he got sloppy, coming to Port Charles, and getting involved with Carly (Laura Wright). Brennan says he had no idea she’d turn out to be Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) ex-wife. In his plan, Valentin reveals he’s given crumbs to make Sonny think a man named Stone who has been dead is after him, so he won’t suspect it’s Pikeman. He says if Sonny won’t work with Pikeman in the territory, they must must eliminate him. Brennan says they need his shipping terminal and Sonny is in the way. Valentin says Sonny will take himself down. They won’t have to kill him.
Marking a true villain turn, Valentin reveals to Brennan that Sonny suffers from bipolar disorder, so he has arranged with his pharmacist, to replace part of his medication with placebos. Thus, removing him will be child’s play. Brennan warns him not to underestimate Sonny. Valentin says Sonny has survived being medicated. He has already beaten up an old man. Brennan says that, “It’s official!” Valentin is still diabolical. Next, Valentin hands Brennan a wad of cash to bribe the guards at Pentonville, He tells Brennan he has everything under control with Pikeman from here. When Brennan brings up Anna (Finola Hughes), Valentin warns if Anna ever finds out what he is up to from Brennan, he will never get out of prison.

Brennan is driven back to Pentonville, and talks to the driver about Valentin, and how they rose to the top together. Brennan hopes he didn’t bore the driver. However, when the driver let’s him out, it is revealed that the driver is deaf. So whatever Brennan said can never get back to anyone.
Meanwhile, at General Hospital, Dante is waking up. Sam (Kelly Monaco) calls Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) who is beside herself that her son is coming to after being in a coma.Rocco (Finn Carr), Olivia and company head to GH. Dante tells Sam he is sorry and he loves her. He is in tears waking up and seeing the love of his life. Shortly after that, Olivia, Rocco, and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) arrive. In a tender moment, Rocco hugs his father.

Dante wants to speak to Anna about the shooting. Sam gets in touch with Anna, who heads to the hospital. Inside Dante’s room he reveals that Jason did not shoot him, but helped him survive and says, “Jason is the reason I’m alive.” Anna is relieved to hear this news.
At Sonny’s Penthouse, Jason and Carly try to talk to Sonny with Ava in the room. Jason says he can come back another time. Carly says Sonny needs to hear what he has to say. Jason says he didn’t shoot Dante. Sonny assumes he’s out on bail, and Carly confirms that it was Michael who paid it. Carly is stunned that Ava is here for all of this. Sonny says Ava was in that warehouse the night of the shooting too. Sonny says he knows Jason was on the roof, and Jason says he made sure Sonny didn’t die. Sonny doesn’t know why he should believe a word Jason is saying.

Courtesy/ABC
Next, Jason reveals he has been working for the feds since he has been gone for two and half years as he needed to protect himself. Sonny is angered. Carly tells Sonny Jason explained why he did it, and Sonny doesn’t believe him. He says his survival instincts have kicked in, he can’t trust Jason or Carly, they are both traitors and he orders them to leave.
Ava thanks Sonny for backing her up and defending her presence to Carly. Sonny says he knew it would piss off Carly. He says he thought Carly would stick by him no matter what, but it’s always about Jason. Jason is first for Carly. Ava offers to fix a drink for Sonny as she can use one too. He exits the room for a minute and just then Sonny’s phone gets a text, and it’s from Olivia that Dante is awake. Instead of showing it to Sonny, Ava moves the phone from the table to the mantel. When he returns, she tells him that she called the hospital and found out that Dante is awake. Wanting to head over there, Ava says the doctors are probably examining him and he should wait until the morning to go to GH.

Courtesy/ABC
Sonny tells Ava that out of everything that has happened to him, that she’s been the only one truly there for him. Ava doubts she’s the only one. Sonny kisses her, then says goodnight and leaves the room. Ava looks shocked. But what is going on here? Is Ava in on a plot to bring down Sonny with Valentin?

Courtesy/ABC
At the end of the episode, Jason and Carly go to Bobbie’s and they share an emotional toast to her. Jason says he’s sorry he wasn’t here for her when Bobbie passed. Carly cannot understand what is happening with Sonny and how he’s behaving. Carly wants to know Jason’s plans. He doesn’t know how long he can stay in Port Charles, so they figure out the best place for him to stay is in an apartment that Carly recently renovated above Bobbie’s. The phone rings and it’s Anna. Carly learns Dante is awake and cleared Jason’s name. Anna knows Jason is there with her without saying it. Carly and Jason hug.
So, what did you think of Friday’s GH? Are you shocked … Valentin is running Pikeman? Sonny’s mental illness is being exploited in a cruel way to get him out of the way? What do you think is up with Ava? What were your favorite moments? Rocco and Dante? Jason and Carly scenes? Weigh-in below. But first, check out this moment between Brennan and Valentin.
there is just too much changing of the characters too fast.
They’ve Ruined soooo many of them. Especially dislike the changes in Sonny
Oh for Hell’s sake…. now we’re supposed to believe that Val the Bastard has been running “Pikeman” all along? Even though he’s the one who dragged Sonny into this mess in the first place?
And Jason managed to infiltrate this group using the alias “Alan Jacobs”??
Alan – as in his father’s name. Jacob – as in his son’s name. AJ – his brother’s initials. And nobody ever figured that out??
As for messing with Sonny’s meds again…. well at least that explains some of his irrational behavior lately, but I don’t think that will let him off the hook for every dumb move he’s made since returning from Tricky Dick Nixon Falls. As to Ava’s involvement with this…. well, we all know she did it to Morgan, so why not to Sonny? The only suprise there would be if she were working with Val all along. It definitely would not make sense for her to be in on the Pikeman plot, since she and Avery were both targets of the attempted hit on the island, and Ava was also in the warehouse when Jason botched the hit against Sonny there.
Still say there’s more to this story and that Morgan Corinthos is involved. Jason’s very brief conversation with Sonny on Friday definitely points in that direction. Jason tells Sonny that he only worked with the Feds to “protect someone” but couldn’t say who. Don’t know who else it could be.
Jason said he was protecting himself to Sonny. He also told Anna the FBI had recordings of RICO violations of his. How could Morgan have been involved in RICO violations? Thru Julian Jerome? If Sonny is pissed that Jason was alive for 2.5 years and didn’t tell him, how’s he gonna feel about Morgan not letting him know?
Morgan most likely suffered a head injury in the Jerome Family Project car bombing that was similar to the one Jason survived in 1996. Whomever took Morgan in after those injuries probably programmed him to use as a weapon against his own family.
They’re still not likely to go there. At least you can now retire The Alcazar theory and put it in the box with the Dex is Morgan prediction.
You took the words out of my mouth with regard to Valentin introducing Sonny to Pikeman.
I suspected Ava switched Sonny’s meds as Sonny wasn’t acting like himself. I think Ava has been working for Valentin. I may be wrong about this, but what if Ava killed Austin and Valentin had proof. He sent her the gun and notes, bribing her to work for him to take Sonny down. Ava is definitely exploiting Sonny’s condition by isolating and turning him against the people he loves. I also think Ava is the leak in Sonny’s organization. She provided Valentin/Pikeman with the security info to attend kill Sonny in Puerto Rico.
I loved that Jason used the name “Alan Jacobs” as his alias.
Everything you said sure makes a lot of sense, especially about Ava but killing Austin . I don’t know, she seemed pretty shocked when she saw the photo of dead Austin. Also, I don’t know if they would do this to her, as it would be pretty much be the end of her character, she’d be sent to prison.
We already had the medication switched by Ava. Now they are doing it to Sonny give me a break. Don’t bring Sonny and Ava together the first time was enough. Jason and Carlie need to stay friends. Bring Valentin down.
Ava will be the first to be blamed when the medication switch is discovered, but I seriously doubt she’d make the same move again.
No, Satan, maybe you missed this part of the conversation but Val hasn’t been running Pikeman “all along.” Valentin made it clear he only took over once Brennan was arrested. That’s why he was angry to find out that under Brennan’s watch, Jason was brought on board and managed to rise high in the organization with no one realizing who he was. It sounded as though he did start out as an intermediary but quickly rose within the Pikeman organization. And so when Sonny refused to cooperate with Pikeman’s plans to ship weapons through Port Charles, Val was on board with eliminating him.
I don’t think Ava’s sudden feelings for Sonny have anything to do with the Pikeman storyline. She is falling in love with him the same way Nina did, aka him being off his meds. I think Ava likes the thought stealing Sonny from Nina and sticking it to Carly, although by now Sonny is nothing more than sloppy thirds or even forths if we count Olivia.
I disagree. Ava is also plying Sonny with alcohol knowing that alcohol interferes with the effectiveness of his meds. In addition, she redundantly sows seeds of doubt in him about Jason, Michael and Carly while telling him that she is the only one he can trust. We also saw her hide the text from Olivia alerting him to Dante’s awakening. Her goal seems to be isolating Sonny from his family and loved ones. Factoring that in, Ava is the one who
baited Nina with the insider trading information knowing that if Nina reported Carly to the SCC and Sonny found out, he’d end their marriage. The sad thing is Nina asked Ava to look after Sonny. She tests Ava and both women have told each other that they’re their only friends. I loved their friendship but it looks like that is coming to an end.
That’s what I believe as well. I don’t think Ava’s actions are sincere at all. She is definitely working with Valentin by feeding into his paranoia and turning him against Carly, Jason and Michael. I won’t be surprised if she also trys to convince Sonny that he can’t trust Dante or Christina.
I just hope Jason and Carly figure it out and help Sonny before he hurts himself or someone he loves.
Avas up to something. Sonny needs to figure out its his pills and take Valentine down.
I’ve been soooooo confused with this S/L and didn’t see it on Friday!
Sooooooo, Valentin is Pikeman 100% truth?
Has he been so with all of past stories?
With Nina… ? With Anna …? Just a front for his returning to his vile ways ?????
I love Valentin ……
I wondered the same thing. If so he pulled his disguise very well.
This was a twist I definitely didn’t see coming. Although, when you start thinking back, Valentin has been acting off for a while. There were those times he disappeared and couldn’t really explain his whereabouts to Anna, where you got the impression he was up to no good. And he’s the one that got Sonny involved with Pikeman to begin with. It all starts to make sense when you put the pieces together.
I’m not sure if this is where the previous writers planned on taking the Pikeman story, or if this is a new direction under Mulcahey and Korte, but I like it. They’re taking Valentin back to the roots of what the character was supposed to be when we first heard about him from Helena in 2009, and he was described as the worst and most evil Cassadine of them all. Someone that even Helena was afraid of. Which was not at all what the character became.
It gives James Patrick Stuart something juicy to do, which he hasn’t had in a while. It doesn’t bode well for his long-term future on the show, however. The cemeteries of Port Charles are filled with people that came up against Sonny Corinthos. But we’ll see where things go.
After two weeks of their material airing, Mulcahey and Korte have certainly made some major changes to characters and storylines, some I’m liking, some I’m not too sure about. But I applaud them for trying to shake things up, and go for some new directions.
Agreed with your take on the new head writers. The best thing so far is they are not predictable. So many times in the past few weeks, I’ve finished an episode and thought “I didn’t see that coming”. The pace is definitely quicker and the dialogue sharper in many cases.
Not surprised Valetin running Pikeman since Jack in prison. Anna will bring down Cates & Valentin. PLEASE let Carly & Jason finally get married and always stay together! They have belonged together for decades. Sonny is a scumbag, have never liked him. He deserves the likes of Nina and/or Ava, both horrible women.
Noooo! Please don’t marry Carly and Jason. They have a friendship like no other, but they’re not good romantically. Ava is playing Sonny, but I think it’s self-serving. She has to always have a man, the worst pairing was Morgan. I cringed every time they had a scene together. I hate even worse the gay scenes. They don’t need to be so graphic. I can do without all of it.
A lot of gay men, lesbian women, and trans-people watch soaps. If you have issues… turn the channel.
No way. Don’t want them together. Recast Robin and bring her back for Jason
Why would she bring down Cates? He’s in the FBI and above board.
Is he really above board though?
He basically abducts Jason from Greece. Allows his friends and family to believe he’s dead. Forces Jason’s compliance by threatening Carly with bogus charges (there’s no possible way she ever committed a crime worthy of RICO charges, for Hell’s sake).
And he did this all while forgetting to mention to Jason that they knew each other in high school, and had all the same girlfriends (Karen, Robin, Brenda, etc) or that he’s had a 30 + year personal grudge against Sonny.
He might have sincere interest in bringing down Pikeman, but his methods in doing so have been anything but “above board”.
More garbage, especially messing with the medication. Been there done that and Carly and Jason both witnessing Sonny’s erratic behavior and not giving a thought to his illness even asking him if ” he’s crazy”!! Boring
Yeah, I’m bored they’re doing the medication thing again like with Morgan. I guess it’s a good way to explain how Sonny could overlook so many things but, I don’t know. Not sure what to make of this new writing team yet.
The lesser dosage of his meds is recent.
The storyline is no longer interesting to me. This Pikeman thread, and Valentine’s part in it, is boring as is Jason’s return, and his part in the entire mess.
Jason’s return is salvation. We need more interesting stories. A lot is very boring.
Me personally, I still believe Brick has a huge part in all this stuff going on w Sonny!! I think he is involved w Pikeman & trying to take over Sonny’s territory, just my opinion!
Brick is solid. He wouldn’t do anything against Sonny.
I would hope not, and i definitely don’t see Brick as a “mob boss wannabe” of any kind. But it was very odd how quick he was to point the finger at Dex without any real evidence. It kind of came off the same way Ava’s recent behavior has. Might have been a red herring. Or they could be turning Brick into another “Bert Ramsey”, where he suddenly snapped one day because too many people got promoted over him, and he jumped to the dark side.
The Burt Ramsey is “Mr Big” story was quite shocking in the 80s. The believably took a frequently seen long time background character and suddenly made him the biggest villain in town. Not sure they could do that with Brick. The time commitment needed from SAS could likely preclude that as well.
I hope that Valentine gets caught before Sonny gets hurt and Sonny realizes that Jason was trying to help him too and the fact that jagger that scum is in in it too I want Valentine to get his. I want Dante to stay please and Sonny and Carly nobody leaves please love this show I’ve watch the his since I was in junior high school
What’s shocking to me is we got played again. James Patrick Stuart declared nearly two years ago that he had.given his notice and he was leaving. Now, apparently.we were tricked into believing that the Dante character had left the premises. If so, he taped far in advance.
JPS never said he was leaving – just taking some time off for other projects. It’s been his decision to be recurring since he first joined the show.
There was nothing posted about DZ departing.
Get rid of Ava let Sonny find out about his meds and valatine
I knew Ava had something to do with it a leopard never changes its spots. She always knows how to manipulate Sunny when he going through something he falls for it every time and I bet it was her ideal to switch up those drugs just like she did Morgan. That’s just how she got Sonny to shoot AJ.manipulation
Why are the writers doing this to Sonny he is a mobster for Christ sake not a weakling. Enough already. He needs to be himself and take people down.
I’m not surprised about Valetene . He’s like a slick snake. Can’t be trusted at all and look out for a strike any time.
Love the Sonny goings on. Great acting fr Maurice! Like Ava but can’t be trusted at all. Jason back..let’s hope all turns out OK but we know how that can go. Love GH
Hopefully we not going through the year waiting for pikeman be dealt with and Anna found out Valentine’s was on it . As well
The new head writers have been moving at a rapid pace. Don’t think further reveals will take too long
I find myself a little overwhelmed with how the new writers are trying to change everything all of a sudden, So now Valentine is the new shows Villian? after all this years were they seem to now know what to do with him now he’s the what official bad guy on the show? Ava is now back to being creepy, is she gonna kill one of Sonny lady love? Nina or Carly ? then what ? end up pregnant again? Is Heather gonna be the shows serial killer w/ the heart of gold? is Carly again the shows Queen Bee, where every scene w/ a male character is someone lusting for her? there’s Jason doing his puppy thing w/ her, sonny like a pit bull, and jagger is like a happy dog wagging his tail, drew is the angry dog that feels rejected, its all nausiating to say the least, these new writers in charge need to take a breather.
Benard has no to anymore kids for Sonny. And as beautiful as Maura West is, at 52, they’re not going with another geriatric pregnancy.
This will become Jason and Carly show. Don’t like. Unless Valentin secretly undercover it looks like his swan song. Not impressed with new writing thus far.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.
