General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Robin Finds Out Jason Is Dead Courtesy Of Faison!

Courtesy/ABC
In another heart-stopping Friday cliffhanger episode of General Hospital, two major stories had some dynamic moments and they intensified.
First, alone with Faison (Anders Hove), Robin (Kimberly McCullough) is lamenting that her dear friend Jason (formerly Steve Burton) will come save her once he realizes she is alive and at Wyndemere! Since Anna (Finola Hughes) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) are captive in the lab at Cassadine Island, Jason will eventually come and kill Faison and bring her back to Port Charles!
Only Faison hurts Robin in the worst possible way, revealing he shot Jason in the back and pushed into the pier and he is dead! Not believing him, Robin looks it up online that verifies that Jason is presumed dead. Heartbroken and devastated over the loss of Jason, who willed her to live and move on with her life and towards the arms of Patrick (Jason Thompson), Faison and Robin have an emotional showdown. Later, Robin is hit with another low blow when Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) return from a visit for Ben to General Hospital and Britt reveals that Patrick is engaged to be married to Sabrina (Teresa Castillo)! Big kudos to the performance of Kimberly McCullough for making us recall the deep relationship Robin shared with Jason. Now we ask, how much can Robin take before she will just break? It’s bad news after bad news for the young heroine!
Elsewhere, Sonny (Maurice Benard) finds out with conclusive evidence that Derek Wells (William deVry) is indeed Julian Jerome! And we also learn in a conversation between a locked-up Anna and Robert, that Robert knew and had a hand in Julian Jerome cutting a deal with the WSB to save his life. Julian AKA Derek plans on killing Morgan (Bryan Craig) since he knows who he really is, but after Morgan gets riled up after seeing Sonny and Michael (Chad Duell) together as father and son, he tells Julian that he wants to bring down his father and he wants “in” on the destruction of Sonny!
So, what did you think of Robin learning the news of Jason’s death? Did you expect that the powers-that-be would address it as this point in the storyline? And, what of Sonny learning the identify of Derek Wells? What will happen next? Comment below?
I recognize Robin, I recognize Faison, I recognize Anna but sorry I still don’t recognize Robert. I don’t think anyone has been able to write for this great character since the late Gloria Monty may she rest in peace.
Hi, I’m curious what aspects of Robert you’re citing from the past. I agree that he was written as a buffoon when he and Luke went on those adventures to the Markham Islands with the monkey. But I recognize this Robert, especially Friday when he was calling Duke “Lavery” like he always did and not believing that he had gone straight, and lamenting how a guy with the name “Jerry Jacks” got the best of them.
If you were going to mention that he’s not romancing Anna like he used to (personally I liked his romance of Katherine Delafield more, but I digress), well wait until they’re short on food and water and think they’re going to die soon….
Well I recognize Robert and happy he is back and out of his coma. Anna & Robert aren’t going to die soon at anytime. They will get out of the lab soon.
How much am i loving GH right now?? … VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brit and Robin as friends? Oh yeah !!!! Take that Sabwwwina 🙂 Love love love all of GH right now .. Robin, Ava, Morgan,Julian, Lucy, Anna, Luke and Tracy, all of it ! well except Sabrina.. she can go click boom
Right on, GhLover…..I also believe that Britt and Robin could become fast friends, as they share the same derision for Obrecht and Faison, not to mention what is obviously going to be the mutual goal for Patrick to reunite with his true love…..me thinks that this would be an especially beneficial way to rehabilitate and redeem Britt in the eyes of the viewers, not to mention the proper Prince Nicky!!! And it would be ever so delicious if the divine Dr. Westbourne were the one to put the tko on the GBWB’s barmy bethrothal!!! Poetic…..even Dear Mutta would be proud of her daughter for that fine feat! Go Britta!!!!!
Yeahhh Brita fans!!! Go team Brita 😉
You mean “clink boom,” lol. I agree with everything else though, especially Britt and Robin as friends! That would be great!
Oh you incorrigible guys with your “click BOOM!” And here I am the one who catches all the grief for my anti-“Sappy” screeds!!!! LOL….Seriously though, I think the only one who would have actually had the guts to barbecue the “Senorita Cinderella” would have been that glorious Gati creation otherwise known as “Dr. O.!” She is one ruthless mutter!!!!
Britts still a lair her baby is really Lulu’s & Dante’s watch what I say. Robin needs a friend right now but she needs Emma & Patrick more. ..
The writing has been seamless and the acting flawless. Kudos to all involved for dignifying the soap opera genre so superlatively! I have believed and maintain my belief that Robin’s efforts to reunite with Patrick may circuitously ebb and flow until the actual nuptials between Patrick and Sabrina. Given the underlying tenacity of Corinthos allegiance to family, I believe Morgan will travel a deadly course with Julian/Derek yet ultimately defer to blood allegiances and try and deter Sonny’s destruction.
You knew from the time Morgan hooked up with Ava and his insecurities toward Sonny that he would team up with the Jeromes
So true…
Morgan needs his butt beat.i guess Micheal proves water is thicker than blood. Morgan is a spoiled brat and a sore looser.. he is more like the young Carly
I thought the writing for all the characters has been good not great but close enough to how I think of them … I’m very fond of Anna / Robert they feel real .you know I was probably supposed to be sad for Robin learning about Jason but I found it rather compelling and exciting …Robin could have acted more convincing ly…….. By the way please keep Tony Geary in your arsenal of actors …..
I (and millions more!) was rather excited when Jason died, too.
🙂
I want Jason back….he is the key to all this madness..it will take them all to take the Jerome’s down. Now where is Alexis loyalties she has a child with rivals Sonny & Julian…
Another great week of GH!! I usually get caught up on an entire week’s worth of shows on the weekend, and usually I watch one or two episodes, then go do something else, and come back and finish later. Today, I started with Monday and I was glued to the TV, and before I knew it, I was finished with the entire week in one sitting, lol.
Excellent storytelling, I love when they bring a lot of characters together under one big umbrella storyline. And needless to say, brilliant acting from Kimberly McCullough, Anders Hove, Sebastian Roche, Finola Hughes, Tristan Rodgers, Kathleen Gati, Tyler Christopher, and Kelly Thiebaud, among others.
Between that storyline and everything with the Jerome’s and Sonny finding out that Derek Wells is really Julian Jerome, and the drama with Morgan and him offering to turn on his father to work with the enemy, everything on the show is coming together at the same time perfectly.
Loved Friday’s episode!!! Faison and Dr. O were fabulous as cranky… almost child like… relatives! Loved Faison with Robin… sorry to have her hear about Jason that way! Then about Patrick’s engagement… she is just not getting any good news! She’s so close to home and yet so far away! Can’t wait to get Anna and Robert out of the lab and back in PC. Looking forward to seeing Sonny and Julian’s showdown. GH is doing great!!!
Aren’t “Faibrecht” just the most delightfully dysfunctional duo of doom ever??? As the pompous Pied Piper of Perfidy to the Machiavellian Mutta, Cesar is one twisted and temperamental mister…what unmitigated gall he demonstrated by demanding his spurned suitor and co-conspirator “cook” him one of his favorite German delicacies….apparently he liked Liesl’s recipes in the kitchen, if not the insane inamorata’s “maskless” affections in the boudoir!!! And giving as good as she got, the steely superwoman responded with a requisitely ruthless retort! Oh well, you know how it is ladies….can’t live with them, can’t live without them!!!
Ratings might not say it but GH is the true no.1 soap in daytime!!!
But is Jason really dead…
I am thrilled with GH !!
The stories are mysteriously spellbinding!!
The acting suburb..
love the humor and suspense, GH offer variety, love it!!!
(I am among those who can live without bland Robin)
I am happy she is back. Will be reunited with her parents, Patrick & Emma. And Sabrina will be out of the picture as far as Patrick goes…Enjoying the stories a lot also…
LOL! I laughed! Faison owned that punk.
Well I did like the scene between Faison and Robin. The minute I heard Faison say Robin reminds him of her mother I got a chill up my spine, just thinking this guy might transfer his obsession for Anna to Robin. As for Morgan, one has to wonder if the gun in his back was the reason for asking Julian if he could join them. My guess, Morgan is only pretending to join them to save his neck and to find a way to save his father Sonny– but even I am wrong and he is really joining forces it should make for an interesting story, one I am willing to invest my time into watching.
Let me preface this by saying I LOVE GH and I hope it continues for many years to come. And I find EACH storyline compelling….I do like the Jeromes a lot…and I’m looking forward to how they work Morgan into the plot; I love Lucy 😉 and Scot…ISam/Derek/Alexis…Nicolas/Britt…Anna, Robert, Duke.etc, etc…BUT!
I miss AJ…I don’t like how they built up his story and then dropped it/him out of existence…I don’t like how they’ve underused Duke, Mac, Felicia., Lucy…all four get just a few lines every few weeks…it’s insulting to them and disappointing to those of us who looked forward to their return.
I don’t like how they underplay the romance between Duke and Anna…if they’re truly back together let’s see it. Give them passion…adventure…something! Nor do I like how Robert lay in a coma for a year and was never mentioned.
As for Robin…I tend to think that she underacts. She just learned that her first love and one of her best friends is gone…I didn’t “feel” the devastation…especially after all she’s been through.
I think that the characters need to be interwoven more…I’d like to see more people running into each other at the old diner…Kelly’s which is now run by Sean…more Quartermaine gatherings…which is why I thought the latest escapade that had Nicolas, Brit, Faison, Anna, Robert, Robin, Dr. O…worked so well!! It was great seeing an ensemble together!
As for Sonny, he’s going to be walking a fine line between the Jerome’s and Morgan…and as for Ava…I always suspected she had affection for Morgan. Not necessarily in a romantic sense…but I was glad to see her protective side come out.
A.J. is supposed to be back for Nov. sweeps…i too would like to see them interwoven more, especially Luke who should be showing Lulu some support during the baby custody storyline…Duke and Anna should be more romantic…currently they just seem like friends…Robert, Duke, Anna triangle would be nice…id like to see Duke and Alexis as a couple!!!
Reallly? I was hoping for Alexis and Julian…though she did dump Sean because of his mob involvement…but if I remember correctly was dumped by Sonny or she would have stayed with him. As for Duke…I’d like to see them give him much more story…and to amp up the Anna/Duke love affair…
It would seem in terms of “maturity” that Duke and Alexis would make an appropriate couple…he just isn’t quite matched in the “youth genes” department for the “Divine Devane” at this point! Anna and a revitalized Robert (aka, “The Silver Fox!”) have such cool chemistry this time around, so a rekindled romance should not be out of the question for them, particularly if they are trapped in “captivity” for very long!!! On the other hand, locating the right man for Ms. Davis is quite honestly an almost impossible task….NLG has never found another one like Lane Davies as Mason Capwell when they were paired to perfection on Santa Barbara….I think now she needs an older, well-established multi-millionaire gentleman to sweep her off her feet…you know, one of those old-fashioned, conservative business types, like a Donald Trump….definitely a “Republican!!!!” That would provide a real acting challenge for the uber-lib, Grahn….I think her head would actually explode with a storyline like THAT! LOL…..
@shay
LOL
great write up of the lovelorn within reach but too laden with tantalizations she’d quip and whip in to a frenzy
honest to god Alexis – it doesnt ‘hurt’
I see good chemistry between Duke and Alexis…it seems there might be a Carly, Franco and Julian triangle…maybe? Alexis could still be paired with Duke but have feelings for Julian who she’ll probably end up with eventually!!!
Unless Julian “falls”…he’s only using Carly to get to Sonny.
By the way, Julian Jerome is actually only eight years older than his “daughter” Sam. (in real life.) Gotta love soaps…
I absolutely love the character of Robin, having watched her grow up from a smart, strong-willed, resilient little girl to a smart, strong-willed, resilient woman. Kimberly does a superb job! Her acting on this episode was especially great. The death of Jason was one blow and then she was hit with Patrick’s engagement. Bam! I can’t wait to see how she reacts next week.
Love that Britt is supporting Robin. Most unlikly friends but it makes sense cause she hates Sabrina. I like that Brit may help bring robin back to Patrick. Crazy twist!
Kimberly McCullough is a fantastic actress: very real and very natural. She killed those scenes — and even made me remember that time (a year ago?) when Jason was “killed”.
As for Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini, or “Cartini”, I have mixed feelings about them. Surely, they’re a vast improvement on the last regime. They’ve brought more balance to storylines and arranged for the return of some beloved vets. However, they are ignoring couples with real chemistry like Franco & Ava, Nikolas & Elizabeth and Sonny & Brenda. (Brenda’s not on canvas, of course, but when she was it was a complete waste of Vanessa Marcil’s considerable talent and chemistry with Maurice Benard.) Also, I’m not sure Cartini corrected fully the deeply misogynist streak of the last regime. Why can’t Ava have equal footing in the Jerome crime family? Why is so many female characters still focused on getting men, rather than having individual story lines? Finally, Ron Carlivati demands so much suspension of belief in his writing that it’s distracting me from really getting into the story lines, e.g. time jumps, smart characters spilling their secrets without caution etc etc.
Yay to Robin’s return; it’s truly the most exciting story of the last couple of years. But I do wish Cartini would ramp up their game!
Wow………………….As a 50+ yr vet, I can honestly say the team of Carlivati and Valentini is the BEST thing to happen to GH since the irreplaceable Gloria Monty. What they have done in a year, is leaps and bounds over what JFP did in a decade. The way they have brought back characters from years past, is sheer genius, and the future looks nothing but promising. I have not enjoyed this GH for years. And for those trained actors pointing out the negative aspects of Kimberley McCullough’s Robin, obviously have not watched “Robin” grow up. The character has never been a highly emotional character. Robin has always had a serious side to her, and KM has always told the story through her face, and that being said, she has not missed a beat with the story of Robin, as KM is the only person to have told the story. Thank you RC and FV for bringing back the General Hospital that I have been obsessed with for fifty years.
Amen. Gh is the best its been since GLoria Monty! Its a magical time 🙂 New and old characters being developped in such a rich way, like Britta being Faison’s daugther! Congratulations Ron and Frank, i simply cant say it enough. Thank you for Robin’s return, the casting of the divine Maura West and Britta of course!! Loving Gh its no longer a guilty pleasure, its a must watch pleasure 😉
DAYS had a fantastic week with Nicole/Eric, Kristen/Brady and Theresa/Jennifer/JJ. How come they don’t get a page dedicated to that great work? Why must GH get one after nearly every episode? I’m starting to watch GH again, and yes, the direction is good (obvious, frustrating, but good) but it feels like there is favouritism. Not a mention for some outstanding work by DAYS? How could that possibly be?
And frankly, I was hoping Robin was talking about Duke. When I started to realize she was glorifying Jason I did what I always did when she sang the praises of Jaseface during the Guza years, I rolled my eyes and let my mind wander.
Days was good this week too…
“Jaseface”…..most excellent moniker there, Jules!
Hey Shay! My brother’s name is Jason, and he once had a girl come over. Being the absolute twit that she was, she called him “Jaseface”. To this day, many years later, I still tease him with the name and will use it against him when I want to torture him even more. Works everytime :).
I know, right ?!?!
I liken it to…. the little engine that could. Leave well enuf alone… NBC/Sony/DAYS
it’s fine where it’s at…. I guess, cause, if it’s not lauded…. near enuf… I’ll take over the soap box
1. I’m dreading the eventual exit: The much deserved, lauded Eileen Davidson
2. where is Blake Berris… need ME so much Nick.
soap box chatter
sometimes, I wish evil deeds, bad behaviours ‘should’ WIN
you can see the writing on the wall… as it were… and yet… I continue to root for Kristen, Theresa, the DiMera’s… LOVE Nick. hell… bring back Vargas
I was nonplussed… Livid… blindly flailing about… when Jenn light in to Theresa.. and vented her holistic rant at Theresa… telling her to stay away from her son. dang! I so wish Abbi had in fact just moved out of Jenn’s house as well… Abbi telling her mom as did JJ they would never speak to her again…. Oh Jenn was Haggie Maggied out… forlorn and askance… clearly unable to deal with… let alone ACT her way out of ALL her broods hormonal rages
oh… it’s draining to go there…. don’t get me started … it’s daniel
saint… the pillar of the earth… supercharged with goodness… the superhero who will right the wrongs of “his” friends… ALL his friends…. Daniel cares about everyone… all the women are at his feet and all the men are appreciative of his godlike …. OH…. forget it
course the writers can’t seem to
daniel has the: kristens “infamous BLUE flash drive” drool – it’s Father Eric… and Kristen/Nicole…
I just didn’t appreciate that it seems like Theresa is taking all the “blame” for daniel and Jenn’s mt. Sinai, bible thumping, virtuous, sainthood… yawn
the writers’ need to clip their wings… banish them
I don’t know… what do you think?
currently… on DAYS…. it’s high stakes drama unfolding…. and one can’t help but know the outcome… yet reel your gut for fun… otherworldly shenanigans forthright to camp it up… and see the righteous flail about
and toast the artists’ who we revel in… that drive how good DAYS continues to be
It’s my little soap too. I know many consider GH to be because it’s been on the brink of cancellation and “needs the love”, but DAYS is in just as much peril! It’s now being renewed year to year, and those years go by fast.
I hope after ED exits they can keep the momentum going. The writers seem to be doing a good job with almost every story on canvas- making them interesting, connecting many characters, giving great hooks and allowing them to organically spawn other stories. So I have hope it will continue. But if it doesn’t, then it stinks even more if DAYS isn’t receiving the love it so richly deserves when they ARE doing amazing work. I mean the stuff this past week with Ari and Greg were as perfect as it comes.
I hope they give Blake Berris more to do. He’s more than proven what an asset he is. And he can do so much.
Thanks for your thoughts Patrick.
“…How come they don’t get a page dedicated to that great work? Why must GH get one after nearly every episode?”
Days of OUR Lives… may be 4th in the ratings…
but… I know fans know…. it should be 2nd… heck… GH deserves ONE. THE “1”.
DAYS deservedly so… near the TOP.
you can’t go their…. cbs’ shows are sunk
at the “bare’ minimum…. (wink, wink, hint, hint) Scandalous behaviors surmount … reach climatic levels….
Father Eric… you are in judgment of yourself…. time to rip the cloth and cloak and dagger your white collar imprisonment
Nicole is wanton baren and has needs
after Kristen is exiled, JJ see’s the light, and Theresa is familial bonded… IE: Shane and Kimberly…
we need to turn the page… for MORE
Justin Kiriakis’ uber talent Wally Kurth
could this be THE ‘time’ to trot out the turbulence that Justin could reel… and bring to the forefront intelligence, hard knocks delivery we know he’s capable.
it was intriguing to see Justin and EJ side by side and once at odds… to revel in… the Kiriakis and DiMera Empires going at it….
the eventual exits of Kristen and Chandler Massey hasten their heed (days production) to further along… how much the cast currently has….
I hope the story with Kate, Jordan, and Rafe… (yes, Rafe is TOTAL EYE candy.. but worthwhile) i still hope… but… I like what someone else who posted… Jordan could be the offspring of John Black and possibly Kristen…. hopefully this avenue will lead… as jordan can… and keep Kate and Rafe on their ‘big’ toes
better late than never… it totally nonplussed me… why did they so diss Jack… ie: with the 18-20 years ago… jack sexually assaulted Kayla… which pissed me off that once again.. Daniel was in the mix… god… doesn’t he lack the vitality to contribute… anyway… it seemed unnecessary to bring up past fault/hurt to give JJ his comeuppance and make it seem like this will boost overkill Daniel image.
Great story behind the “Jaceface,” Jules! (Guess your mom liked names that started with a “J” then?) I simply surmised that you came up with it to dead-right describe the single stony expression that SB wore throughout his stint as Mr. Morgan….little did I know! Thanks for sharing…. ; )
I hope that bringing back the dynamic of Duke & Anna with Robert via the Derek Wells reveal is used as major story. There is nothing that would make me happy to tune in more. So much history there and Friday’s ep was all the more captivating due to that thread tying the ep together.
Okay here’s where I have a gaping plot hole question. If Robin can get online, why the heck can’t she send an email to um… I don’t know… her hubby? Was that explained earlier or is RC just being his usual sloppy self?
RC is doing a great job on GH. I have no complaints on RC at all. He rejevinated Gh..And it is so much better now.. I am happy I have this soap to watch.
Robin could not send an e-mail with Faison watching.. He was watching her, ya know..
and it would take Robin a bit of time to create an e-mail account or accesses one and Faison would not allow that to happen, we all know that.
OK I LIKED KIMBERLY M. return even though Im not a fan………..
I’m glad Sam and Silas are going a rode trip!!!!!!!
I hope they get BUSY ( you know what I mean)!!!!!
I would like RC to write a (PREGANCEY STORY) for Sam
Didn’t she just have a disastrous pregnancy and who is the daddy story? Ugh
I love the days on GH when I do NOT have to see Sonny or Carly or Franco on my screen. The Dimpled Don and Company make it a chore to stay tuned in. In terms of the Jeromes, I’d rather see the Alexis and Sam side of the potential story than anything to do with Sonny, Morgan, Michael and Kiki. I just don’t care enough about them to follow what they know or do.
Let’s get back to the Robin story and all it entails, even if it means Sabrina and Felix on my screen.
I and many others love to see Sonny, Franco, Carly, Morgan, Michael!!
GH gives to all ….
(I for one have no interest in Robin anything)

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
