Intriguing casting news via TVLine has that General Hospital’s dashing doctor/former priest Griffin Munro, played by Matt Cohen, will be seen in a recuring role in the upcoming second season of CBS’s Criminal Minds, Beyond Borders!

Cohen has been tapped to play the son of Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise).  In story, Ryan is following in his father’s footsteps by becoming a top agent for the FBI.

Matt will make his ‘Beyond Borders’ debut in the season premiere, which will air during the primetime midseason.

Beyond Borders executive producer Adam Glass, a former writer/EP on Supernatural, who worked with Cohen when he appeared as John Winchester, announced the casting news via his Twitter account.

In an update on Sunday, Glass clarified that Cohen is not leaving GH for this, in case some fans of the soap were concerned. Adam tweeted:  “A special thanks to @GeneralHospital for being so kind in working with us to make @mattcohen4real part of #CMBB this year. #ClassAct #SPN”

So, what do you think of this bit of casting news that has Cohen recurring and filming upcoming episodes of Criminal Minds, Beyond Borders? Comment below!

great news for him, as long as he stays with General Hospital

Soap schedules give a lot of time off to do other things.

He’s so cute. Hope this doesn’t negatively impact his role on GH, which is one of the few “new trash” on the show that I like.

Griffen seemed to show promise in the beginning-he should had been Anna’s nephew and Nathan’s brother who shared the same father-Valentin…Anna’s sister and Valentin could had met which would blood tie him to many characters but this story with Claudette which i thought would be interesting with Bree just doesnt interest me-too predictable been there done that storytelling!!!

I think it’s great!

He did come from prime time I think it’s great clearly his contract allows for him to work outside of GH and for a compitting network, I get to see him as an FBI agent now too, it’s win win for me as a fan. Just don’t leave GH anytime soon please!

Congratulations to Matt on getting this primetime role. It doesn’t get much better than playing the son of Gary Sinise, one of Hollywood’s finest actors. I’m a fan of Beyond Borders, having watched the full first season. I think Matt will fit in very nicely with the rest of the cast, thought I think he’ll find the rate at which they tape primetime shows very slow compared with soaps. He’ll be great.

Hi Sandy…Matt comes from prime time. H’s been in several movies and has had roles in Supernatural and How To Get Away With Murder among others including a web series.

Great news! Love him on GH. Can’t wait to see him as a new character.

The character Griffin Munro, is drab..
He has no fire, no real purpose, no intruge, no nothing.
He is simply eye candy .
Griffin is a bore lol .. not the actors fault, not at all.
It is the writing of the character and the persona of the character , and that is eehhh..

I like ”Criminal Minds, Beyond Borders” and looking forward to seeing Matt in a hard drama role !
(he is soooo wasted with GH))

“Drab”? “No fire”? Again, are we watching the same show, you and I? Got those glasses at the ready–again? LOL 🙂

Didn’t you think he was just great with Finola in their scenes??

He has been great with Finola & Brooklyn as well as good with many others. I’m so happy they hired someone dedicated to his craft to be Finola’s stepson and a new doc on the show. His last rites scenes was nothing less than fantastic with so much fire.

Is he leaving gh?

Good, hopefully Beyond Borders will cast him as a series regular so he’ll be off GH. He’s not a good actor, and Griffin is not needed, nor is he an interesting character.

The writers will make him the killer at GH

Oh, hope not!

Congrats to Matt; haven’t watched Beyond Borders but between Matt and the fabulous Gary Sinise I’ll check it out.

They have completely wasted him on GH. He’s too mellow, lol. As for the story with Griffin, Nathan and Claudia, I think this is the worst GH has done yet in terms of dropping a story. They literally, FINALLY, had Nathan find out who he is…he slams him against the wall…and then nothing. Really poor mapping out their stories…too much break in continuity. Ridiculous.

He is a very fine actor but GH hasn’t used him properly. They have cast him as a priest who is mild mannered and showing little emotion. I didn enjoy that kissing scene with Claudette. First time he showed any fire. That is the writers fault to misuse a real talent. He is from primetime and probably finds GH slow as molasses. They use him once every couple of weeks. I am happy he is finding work outside of soaps.

GOOD NEWS!!!! REASON TO WATCH NOW…..SURE WISH GH WOULD NOT WASTE HIS TALENT….GIVE THIS GUY A GOOD STORY LINE…AND DO NOT MAKE HIM THE KILLER!

I watch both Criminal Minds, Beyond Borders and General Hospital, so I am happy. Weird as it was announced at the end of season 1 that CMBB would not be renewed
I really like him on GH. Griffin has me wondering and guessing– is Claudette going to show up with his child and who will he end up with, hopefully Maxie.
Thank you Matt for not leaving GH and I ‘like be watching you on CMBB

So happy for Matt Cohen! I hope he gets a full-time role. Wishing him all the best!

Nicholas Alexander Chavez

Nicholas Alexander Chavez (ex-Spencer Cassadine, General Hospital) has booked another motion picture role, and this time it’s in the upcoming action-thriller Supermax. The Amazon MGM and Miramax feature is currently in production.

According to Deadline, character details for the film which stars Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb, are being kept under wraps. Production began on Monday, August 24 in New South Wales, Australia, with support from the NSW Government through Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund.

In story, Supermax follows two FBI agents (Smith & Robb) who investigate a seemingly impossible murder within the impenetrable walls of a maximum-security prison. Jaafar Jackson and Jason Clarke are also set for roles in the film.

SUPERMAX IS NEXT FEATURE ROLE FOR THE FORMER GH DAYTIME EMMY WINNER

Chavez’s casting announcement came with the addition of the former General Hospital Daytime Emmy winner, and three other actors who joined the production.

David Gordon Green directs the film from script by David Weil and David J. Rosen, with The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman producing alongside Smith and Adam Fishbach for Westbrook Studios. The plan is for Supermax to be released on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

After departing his role as Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital in early 2024 (in a part part he had played since 2021), Chavez went on to star as Lyle Menendez in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. He then reunited with Murphy for the FX horror drama Grotesquerie as father Charlie Mayhew.

Coming up, Nicholas will be seen in The Technique, a psychological thriller, where he stars alongside Emma Roberts, Ben Platt and Noomi Rapace, as well as and the remake of the horror flick, Possession.

So, what do you think of Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s upcoming role in Supermax? Wondering what he will be playing in the action-thriller? Do you miss him on General Hospital? Let us know via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Warns Jack, ‘You Just Get Willow What She Needs, or the Only Person Who’s Going to Be Destroyed is You!’

Published

Nina

The August 26 episode of General Hospital certainly gave off “murder mystery” vibes, as Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) made a very public threat against Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna). With the recent report (although unconfirmed by GH itself) that Chris McKenna is set to exit the soap in the fall, and that Brennan will be killed-off, it appears that story is kicking into high gear.

In the key story point, Nina learns that Brennan threatened her daughter Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) via the tape recording Willow made of Jack’s conversation with her. When Nina goes to talk to Jack at the Metro Court Gardens, she leveled her threat saying, “You just get Willow what she needs, Brennan, or the only person who’s going to be destroyed is you!”

However, in that moment, Carly (Laura Wright) was on the scene and overheard Nina. In addition, GH Dr’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) Gannon and Tristan (Dean Geyer) Roberts, (who’s past or present with the WSB is still undefined enough to question if he has an axe to grind with Brennan) were at a table together and overheard the threat. Also having a meet-up at poolside were Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Drew (Cameron Mathison). Certainly, Carly and Drew have no love lost for Nina and would like to see her knocked down several pegs!

NINA PUT HER FOOT IN HER MOUTH

The entire set-up would seem to make Nina the prime suspect in a Brennan murder mystery, if it is found there is foul play involved. We already know someone is getting their drink spiked by week’s end at the Metro Court poolside; thanks to this week’s previously released ABC promo for the series.

ALEXIS IS FIGHTING MAD

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has had enough with Willow. After Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) meets with the legal eagle at her house, and explains how Willow is threatening him with the fact that he was in Drew’s house the night he was shot along with Trina, Alexis is mortified.

Alexis cannot believe Willow is continuing to stoop to such lengths; given she knows Willow was the culprit in Drew’s shooting all along. Kai also believes that Willow tried to kill Drew a second time by pushing him in his wheelchair into the lake; unaware that it was actually Nina who tried to drown Drew.

Now, in the show’s final moments, an enraged Alexis shows up at Willow’s office. She reveals that she’d known since the trial that Willow shot Drew, and she was not going to stay silent any longer. Willow fired back that Alexis, because of her oath as her lawyer, she can’t do a thing about it. Next, Alexis said boldly, “Watch me, Congresswoman.”

So, do you agree that it now looks like it’s curtains for Brennan, a murder mystery will unfold, and Nina will take the fall? Or, do you think this is all a red-herring? What will Alexis do to Willow? How will she out the congresswoman with all of her lies and crimes? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Who is Hudson in Cahoots With After Revealing Phone Call?

Published

The mysterious Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) is clearly in collusion with someone as witnessed on the Tuesday, August 24 episode of General Hospital.

Since Troy Lennon Appel made his debut on the soap on July 30, we already know he “appears” to be the true biological father of baby Phoebe, and is quite the bad dude after roughing up Ethan in Norway.

Now in Port Charles, claiming he is there for JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises) business, and with the edict to contact Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and let her know her father named her the CEO of his company while he is “sailing” abroad, he was initially met with resistance when Josslyn refused to accept the job.

I’VE CHANGED MY MIND

However, after a recent turn of events, where Brennan (Chris McKenna) told Josslyn, the WSB has her next assignment, and it is to find out what’s going on with her father’s company, they demanded her to accept the CEO position. Now Josslyn is caught and has to back-petal after initially telling Hudson to bring her qualified candidates and she would pick one as her replacement.

In all-new episodes, while at the Quartermaine boathouse, Josslyn informed Hudson that she was now taking the CEO position. Josslyn cited that she realized she wanted to honor her father’s wishes and uphold his legacy.

Hudson is stunned and tries to dissuade her, and is quite suspicious over her sudden change of heart. Realizing no matter what he said Josslyn was not backing down, Hudson says he hadn’t been on board with Jax’s decision to give the company to Josslyn, but now he could see that maybe he’d  been wrong about her.

HUDSON HAS A PROBLEM

Josslyn says failing herself, or her father, isn’t an option and when she commits to something she goes all in. She tells Hudson that she would appreciate his support. Hudson says she has it, as she turns to walk away after dropping her bombshell decision on him.

Next, a very pissed off Hudson, picks up his phone and makes a call to someone and tells them that Josslyn took the job. He intimates that this is bad news and will screw up their plans. He tells the person on the other end that he is going to make her change her mind!

So, where is this leading? Who could Hudson be working with on the inside and who did he call? How do you see General Hospital weaving in Josslyn taking over JJE as their new WSB mystery story? Put your creative hats on and let us know your thoughts via the comment section.

But first, check out the GH teaser below for today’s Wednesday, August 26 episode below, where Josslyn tells her mother, Carly to accept her decision of either taking the job at JJE or staying with the WSB!
