GH's Rebecca Herbst Shows Appreciation To Her Fans: "Thank You For Taking The Time, On A Daily Basis, To Make Me Smile."

Courtesy/ABC
General Hospital’s nurse Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) certainly has had her share of problems in her personal life over the last year.
First, trying to hold on to the man she loves, Jason (Billy Miller), without telling him who he really is, and now facing for the second time, her young son, Jake (James Nigbor) fighting for his life!
Actress Rebecca Herbst who has been receiving kudos from many GH fans, took to Twitter today to thank them for their unwavering show of support for her performances. Many were also recently vocal that Becky did not receive a Daytime Emmy Pre-Nomination in the Lead Actress category from her peers.
Herbst shared to all the fans this message: “Thank you for taking the time, on a daily basis, to make me smile. Your kind messages always fill my heart …XOXO”
So, what did you think of Becky’s acknowledgement of her fans? What have you thought of her performances of late in the latest twist and turns in the Elizabeth and Jason saga, and now Jake saga? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
Good Actress… When I watch her.. I never think of her as she is action.. she is a class act… she just needs to stop doing the bad things.. get with Franco.. I like them together!!!
Actually I want Franco to stay with Nina. But maybe he could rekindle Liz’s interest in art as therapy or a hobby. At one time when she was with Lucky she wanted to study art and had her own little studio. I think this could be good for her.
Also, since one day we will get past this Jake/Jason storyline one way or another, since she is Steve Hardy’s granddaughter, I’d like to see her “stature” in GH society reflect that. Maybe ask her to help coordinate the Nurses Ball adding in a GH founders memory skit, along with more of a star-studded cast than last year.
I want Phyllis to stay with Todd, too. Opps, I mean I want Franko and Nina to remain together as they fly off to Timbuktu forever and ever.
They have got to be the most pointless and boring couple in daytime history.
Clearly some executive suit harbored some fantasy of a Todd and Phyllis coupling.
“…one day we will get past this Jake/Jason storyline one way or another ”
too funny
rolling… LOL
to think … i’m still heavily vested in this… ???
fandom
hey just making the cheering section full
Rebeca.. big luvs !!
Now- Liz. Stop being a self pity wimp and go get your man..
Sam is a fly on your shoulder, slap her off !
Your comments are laughable to say the least …. Liz Has absolutely nothing over Sam!!!!!
the thing that bothers me… is at the end of Friday ep:
Jason is at the hospital with Liz and little Jake
yet before you know it…. he’s at Liz house in the basement… as ????
a lovelorn figurine ?
a messiah ?
a bold machismo willing Sam to get UP and fasten her HOT boot strap and dig into herself… and steel that much more of her sure self
a sexually charged deity of such magnitude…
a “ghost” love story yet to unfold
I hate when serials do this…
as we muster up more courage for Kelly Monaco
ACT
I would like to see Liz stop chasing Jason. Let him chase her. He pursued her when he was Jake, he’ll come around again. And if he doesn’t, who needs him? There are plenty of guys who’d like to be with Liz, that new doctor hottie maybe. k One thing I’ve noticed, Jason has never had to chase Sam. She’s always been ready, willing and available whenever he wanted her.
Maddie, I don’t understand why either Sam or Lizzy, who are both beautiful in their own rights, think Jason is the ultimate door prize.
I think Jason (no matter who is playing him) is about as exciting as a cold bowl of porridge and he is really much ado about nothing.
OI think Liz has seen the error of her ways and eased on the chasing. Sam picked up where
Liz left off. Sadly, those boots cut the race short.
@Harry.
Gee, Harry. How do you know how exciting Jason is? Lol…….I would think both Liz and Sam have had a taste of him. He must have something satisfying to offer. I like cinnamon in my porridge.
Harry, I quite agree! He’s a good looking guy, but most soap guys are! But his connection to Sonny all these years makes him quite the loser. Maybe if he pulls away from Sonny’s orbit and goes more the Quartermaine route, he will be interesting. But what I’ve seen so far is same-old, same-old. CeeCee, LOL re: Sam’s boots. I had to laugh when she tripped over them and then proceeded to flounder all over the basement floor for a week, seemingly unable to find the stairs.
Hey, there, my friend.
I know, right? Poor Sam. We may poke fun, but it’s not so funny when accidents like that really happen. I mean well, Maddie. But, sometimes my twisted humor rears its ugly head. It’s not real, so, in that context, we may have a little fun kidding around.
I must agree with Harry, to a degree. Billy Miller in Y&R mode is a completely different person in GH mode. I never realized how unintelligible his speech was. Yet, I like him so much. I overlook many flaws.
I honestly think Jason should get a fresh start, but, as you say, a Quartermaine. I have always believed that. And his ‘discourse’ with Monica sinched it. Nonetheless, he should be free of any romantic entanglements, at this point. I think TPTB are making us vacillate a bit. We see Jason working a good relationship with Sam and we say to ourselves, ‘oh, ok, this could work”…. But, by the same token, we are now presented with a tragic situation shared as Jake’s parent; Jason and Liz. This, too, sort of pulls us toward a renewed affection/relationship between them.
It could be this is the hierarchy’s intention….see our reaction and then decide what route to take?
I don’t know, Maddie. At this point, I can actually see Jason with either women.
I could go on forever, LOL…..snow day…no school. Later, my friend.
Jake has got to be a clone…somehow he is not the real Jake…or he has been brainwashed by Helene and her goons.
Nothing can make stop being a Liz/Rebecca fan I simply love the charater and the actress I m so happy she’s on more and I hope it stays that way.
Luv Liz/Rebecca reason I watch general hospital a great actre
Wish she would retire……..
Becky is very classy. ThIs comment is not.
What Tristan said.
Yes, of course I was disappointed with Miss Lizzy’s actions regrading the Jason reveal. However, she let us know her motivations and what drove her to such desperate actions. Moreover, those of us who have loved Lizzy since the day she unexpectedly appeared in Grandma Audrey’s house, wearing short shorts and ordering pizza on Granny’s credit card, have loved her since she first crossed the Port Charles threshold. We watched rebellious Miss Lizzy play second fiddle to her inferior and most insipid sister, Sarah.
We also watched her waiting in the park in her red dress for Lucky to show up in the park before the Sadie Hopkin’s dance only to be raped. This led to one of the most touching and sweetest romances in daytime history–that is, the subsequent romance which transpired between Miss Lizzy and Lucky.
We stand by Lizzy despite her transgressions because we know she is going to punish herself worse than her nemesis ever could. But we also stand by her because Rebeca Herbst is an amazing and nuanced actress. Over-the-top scene chewing actresses (not going to mention names, lloking at your, Michelle Stafford) could learn a lot from Miss Rebecca as far as the art of subtlety is concerned.
And finally, and forgive me for dwelling on the external, but RH is positively ageless and continues to glow henceforth with her youthful and ethereal beauty.
It’s almost scary how this actress does not age without showing any signs of having any work done.
All I can think is that that portrait in the attic is not looking too well.
Love Becky and Liz. Consummate, subtle actress. Often maligned on other boards because of the ludicrous “fan war” that GH keeps stoking. And really, does anyone think Jason is worth it? No matter who is playing him, Jason is a character I cannot abide. The most one-dimensional, endlessly propped character in GH’s history, bar none.
What I love about Becky is that she totally sold this awful story, despite the assassination of her character that resulted, and despite her own belief that the storyline was totally OOC for Liz.
The internet hate for her has been fierce and unrelenting, with many of the “Jasam” fans actually calling for Becky herself to be fired. I think this “thank you” to the fans is because she is receiving support from them, despite the calls for her firing and the hope that Liz’s last scene will show her being burnt at the stake.
@Harry 1
I want to give you a hug, smile, and toast Rebecca Herbst – ageless – endeared in our hearts… Liz
I was only going to post… as it’s so late…just how much I love my Liz.. and more to follow
as I’ve recently posted… this character REELS with the whole cast
2015 was Liz STAR banner turn… I can’t imagine , from here on out.. she’d be any different… just that much more
AWESOME post Harry!!!!! Every word true!!!
Thank you Patrick and Dylan.
And Tristan, you are right about those misguided JaSam fans.
There does seem to be disconnect in their minds which makes it so they cannot distinguish between reality and fiction. These are the sorts who give us soap viewers a bad name.
And here is the rub–Kelly Monaco and Rebecca Herbst are friends.
KM does not appreciate the bashing of her friend in the name of Sam. In fact, she hates it as does Laura Wright who also has had to call out some rabidly angry fans on Twitter. Some folks really need to get a grip.
I am sure there are strangers calling for you to lose your source of income.
Liz has done some nasty things…….only proves how good Rebecca is at her craft. And, she’s beautiful.
I am a Jasam fan-however,I respect the job that Rebecca Hearst has done with this difficult storyline!!! In fact, back in the 1990’s somewhere I believe, there was talk of firing Rebecca Hearst!! I was one of numerous fans that talked them into keeping her-and I’m glad I did!!! I wished she had gotten nominated for the Daytime Emmys-I think she got robbed!!!! I’m mad at Elizabeth, but I love Rebecca Hearst!!!
I love RH! I haven’t always loved the story line but she has been phenomenal in it.
Exactly, Lana. Not a favorite character, but, boy, can she act!!
Becky is a class act! Her graciousness is only surpassed by her talent & beauty! Wish we could give her a well-deserved Emmy but our loyalty & devotion will have to do!
And her scenes today at Jake’s bedside & with Carly show, once again, why she is the crown jewel of GH
I adore Becky and Elizabeth is my favorite GH character. Liz has been needlessly thrown under the bus so many times. Regardless of the writing Becky never fails to sell whatever she’s given. For 18 years her talent has turned a flawed character into someone endearing and relatable.
My dream is for GH to probe Liz’s abandonment issues.IMO they are the root of her bad choices. She doesn’t feel truly lovable. After getting to the bottom of that I’d love for her to find a strong stable and loving relationship. Lucky & Jason are toxic for her. Would love a love story with the new doctor. Dr. Griffin Munro & Elizabeth Webber,RN could be the Steve & Audrey .
Great ideas.
She knows without her fans she has NO job. Got her job back many years ago because her Fans rally for her.
Why is this comment even necessary? I mean, really?
Why, Harry? Because people seem to love the thrill of being mean, while also being anonymous. The internet seems designed to allow our worse selves full expression, with no “personal” consequences.
It’s not necessary at all!
Truly, Harry–especially since the fact that she almost lost her job had nothing to do with her performances or her popularity and everything to do with ABC’s underestimation of both.
And need I point out that she’s hardly the only performer on soaps with a large and vocal fan base who contribute to keeping her employed?
@Harry1….Is that a rhetorical question? There are a lot of comments that strike one that way….especially when deranged soap fan syndrome comes into play….some people are simply far too invested in certain characters, and it does appear that the line between reality vs fiction becomes blurred. The Liz and Sam advocates are a prime example of this, even though we fortunately don’t see their ongoing war here so much as on other websites. (Most posters at MFSoaps appear to be pretty even-handed and fair-minded when debating the individual merits of these two ladies.) Personally, I like both RH and KM in equal measure….each brings something special and unique to their roles and rather represent the yin and yang of Jason’s romantic desires. Their decade-long love tug-of-war over this enigmatic character’s heart is an eternal struggle that seemingly shall never reach a definitive end, and that’s what keeps things interesting, especially if one is impartial and can see the positive aspects to Jason’s relationships with both women. Having said that, I’ve never understood or condoned obsessive fandom for any soap character or actor….particularly when one dares not ever criticize another’s precious beloved. Believe you me, I absolutely adore (with a capital “A”….) Downton Abbey’s Lady Mary and Dowager Countess Violet…to me, they are utter perfection, yet that doesn’t mean that I’d throw an unhinged hissyfit were anyone to besmirch them or disagree with my rose-colored views of them….I mean, that’s just bat guano crazy, isn’t it???? Quite frankly, whenever I see anyone defend their soap pet too vociferously, I envision their home bedecked with a shrine to that character, and all I can think is just light another candle already, be done with it and spare me the histrionics! LOL. At any rate, I replied to your query at the Michael Easton thread, even though it didn’t make it online….and I said, please, by all means, do join in! Your remarks are always a joy and delight, my #1 Harry! (No offense intended to the “Other Harry”….)
Possible problem for we Liz fans. Another site is reporting that — from multiple sources — BH’s contract negotiations with GH have hit an impasse. And yet, and yet…Michael Easton’s 4th new GH character, all the non-starter characters brought in by this regime…What goes on??
BH’s Liz is the last link on the show to Dr. Steve Hardy, and they would let her go????? If they do, after treating Jason Thompson so cavalierly, I am not sure how I can continue to invest in a show that is so poorly managed.
What?????!!!!! Rebecca has fans because of her stellar acting . She is not a favorite because of her fans….just the opposite is true. This woman can convince anyone blue is red and white is black; and vice versa. That’s because she is talented; not because of how many fans she has. Bah!!
Rebecca Herbst has been doing a phenomenal job with the material this past year. She had brought it every single day, with a subtle acting style that shows everything she is feeling with just a look. Do I feel she was overlooked for an Emmy nod? Absolutely. But the gracious way she congratulated the ones who did, and the way she acknowledged the fans show her class and innate kindness
Met her and her husband several years ago and she took time to talk and take pictures with everyone.Great actress. Beautiful inside and out.
She is, without fail, a class act. I adore how she communicates with fans, but above all I love her for always putting in the work.
I’m happy to be seeing her character front and center- I hope it continues. I am grateful to these writers for acknowledging the character’s many layers- good and bad- and for establishing new relationships for her as she says good-bye to old ones. I would be lying if I said I didn’t hope for a sexy slow-burn relationship with the new doctor. I think a well-built hospital romance is exactly the next thing this team should pursue, and she needs a well-earned change of pace!
Yes, Liz needs a romance and making it a hospital romance would go a long way toward resurrecting GH.
How about the new doc; Munro? They are both stunning…..
Cee Cee
They really are stunning. Liz and Anna are my faves. I want Liz to star in her own story and not just prop Jasam.
I’m not ready for Liz to have a new romance as a consolation prize after all the lies and chaos she has caused. Hasn’t she had enough “romances” and kids over the years with different guys? And certainly not with the new doctor. As far as I’m concerned she has a lot of redemption to go through, along with some self esteem building.
When you put it that way? Yeah, Rose. I think that because Rebecca is up there in the stars for me, I forget Liz’s despicable actions. Yup, she foes ned to go through some sort of Devine transformation. Her son is in hospital; plus, she thinks he started the fire and tried to kill Sam. That is punishment enough for any mother. Soon.
The most solid actress on daytime. If GH EVER thinks of letting her go again they should be DEEPLY ashamed.
Becky Is unfailingly gracious, positive and respectful, regardless of the nature of the feedback she gets on social media. Her professionalism is inspiring. Elizabeth’s story this past year has taken the character through the wringer, but as always, the actress has been shining. She portrays every good, bad and ugly moment of Elizabeth’s life with such conviction, I’m completely invested in the journey she’s on, and I’m looking forward to seeing what her future holds. (I’m surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed the Elizabeth and Franco scenes we’ve had. The characters make the strangest bedfellows, but Becky and Roger and the writers make their interactions both truthful and entertaining.)
She is the best in daytime and most under valued!
She alone keeps me watching GH. Love you Becky!!!
Rebecca has always been one of my faves……….she is an awesome actress and she deserves a daytime emmy,
Liz is everything to enjoy and the drama she brings is the reason soaps have 50 Year fans! Liason forever! Rebecca does it so well! She was robbed of an award!
BECKY HAS DONE an outstanding performance and and receive an award. All
The hard knocks unhappy moments she has. I am a diehard fan since the mid sixties .My heart goes for you. Hopefully 2016 will bring you love and happiness.
“…All the hard knocks unhappy moments she has ”
I certainly agree… and I think this.. is because GH “knows” that as an actress she can beautifully play this out… time and again
yet… we nonstop root for how much her character pulls at our heart
may as well rip it out in fact
how tortured we ( LOL ) are for her in fact
I guess that’s the ride… because we’d have seen her happy ?
she carries the fans with
she won’t let up if we don’t
what a ride.. what a treasure… double treat… actor and audience feast
Patrick, be prepared…Another site is reporting that Becky’s contract negotiations with GH are at an impasse. I bet they want to put her on recurring, after ruining her character. After what happened to JT, I am really not prepared to lose our last link to Steve Hardy.
I have been watching Lizard since I was Jake’s age and I have
always loved watching her. She had grown so much over the
years, and she is an amazing actress. Keep going strong and never give up. Liz fan faithfully…
I love this actress and character. Not crazy about her storyline but very few actresses could keep me watching like she does with her tortured portrayal.
Believe me, Terri. I know exactly what you are saying. Rebecca is a very captivating personality. As I always say, the fact that Liz can make me ‘despise’ her actions so much, proves what an excellent actress Rebecca is. I can’t sing her praises enough. Why was she not nominated? Shame, right?
Love Ya Becky, you are Awesome 🙂
Liz Webber has been awesome in every scene during the last year. She must be placed in the Emmy nomination category. It would be a total insult to us her fans, if she is left out.
Are the people in question blind or deaf? She has been the backbone of GH since she first aired, and has only grown awesome with time. What are the PTB waiting to see from her?
Howe much more is she expected to give? All I can say, is they favour less talented actresses in her category and are propelling them forward.. If Liz Webber fails to win her emmy this year, it will be biggest travesty of justice, the Soap World has eery seen. Shame on the PTB.Becky Herbst belongs at the very top. Keep your personal feelings aside, and give her, her just due. – Thanks
“… Howe much more is she expected to give? ”
I know, right ? I get fed up! I can’t go politically correct all the time !
seriously! fandom be wary
the writing is on the wall… the camera KNOWS
it’s pulling show
Jason / Liz / Sam
argh!
I can take peace … that posts… if GH isn’t giving Liz firsts… no 2nds no 2nd fiddle.. no left over
Liz will reign… be it Franco… or the new doc, in town…
Rebecca Herbst generates magnate and generates TUNE IN…
Kudo’s to BH for taking an OCC writing of her character over the last year and selling it day in and day out!
Rebecca herbst is why I watch gh. her character is a representation of what life is today. A single working mom struggling with everyday life and Rebecca delivers that flawlessly. Rebecca has chemistry with all the male characters she has worked with. She was also part of a super couple that gh never considered a couple. Rebecca has recently been working with Billy Miller and has had amazing chemistry with him even through a year of her playing a role that was untrue to her character.Rebecca won an Emmy for her portrayal of a rape victim and has many more nominations through the years and I believe she will have many more. She will always be a Emmy winner to her fans. God bless you Becky.
1996; Days of Our Lives; Dana Winthrop Role;Jan 1996 -Dec 1996
“I” had … no idea… she was on DAYS !
I love these little nuggets
I adore this lady… ( her character portrait)
Rebecca Herbst imbues an innate sensibility … a humane travel that shares a heart to heart
I don’t know how else to define
I do not think she’s dependent on men… I do not think she uses men… I’ve never seen her character use men for her own draw
you’d think she was flawless
you’d think she would hurt more ?
but we don’t want to see that….. ever
she poignantly paints a mesmerizing enchanting person relative
OK
OK
she shared with Nicholas , at the last Nurses’ Ball
she was so consumed with fell in love… with Jake
even after she was told… it was Jason
her heart was full
her heart with soul knew nothing more…. she loved with all her being
I will share ; @Maddie Hayes ; “… He pursued her when he was Jake, ”
what a scene and setup… this nurse… doing her job…
was she weak ?
was she vulnerable?
was she sure?
was she being a player?
she had no ulterior motive, other than feeling
woah… to watch a beloved character
it was captivating ! ? ! ?
MORE
Becky is very classy. She did a good job this year playing the crazed Liz. I personally have never been a fan of the character, but I cant say a bad word about Becky.
love Elizabeth on general hospital she’s doing such a great job thank you so much .please lrt have lucky back he makes her happy and she deserves to be happy and please don’t …send her to Fairview
Love Rebecca she’s an amazing actress, as for Liz hate the character what she has done this past year is pretty unforgivable
Her co star Kelly Monnaco said it best girl you were robbed! The daytime Emmys are stuck on stupid!
k/kay…oh, I agree!!!!! And it just gets WORSE every year!!!!! Dumb as hell.
I hope this isn’t related to the rumored impasse in her contract discussions.
Seriously can they PLEASE JUST get rid of Frank Valentini and give the job to someone who actually wants GH to succeed!
she amazing actress hope she don’t leave I wont have to watch show anymore ,

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

Photo: ABC
DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
