Daniel Cosgrove Making A Return To Days of our Lives!

Days of our Lives fans who were wishing for a return of Daniel Cosgrove to the show may have gotten their wish, but for how long, and as who?
Soap fans first reported hearing the news of the actor’s return via a TV commercial that aired this week for the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest.
Then within the issue (on newsstands now) they reveal that the actor who played the character of Aiden Jenning, and who is presumed dead after his confrontation with Bo (Peter Reckell), is back at the DAYS set filming and will first air in late spring. But the questions remain: Is Daniel back as the ghost of Aiden? Will he appear in some newly-minted flashbacks? Could this all be the handy work of Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and there is a Aiden doppelganger on the loose?
Is fan favorite Cosgrove back in a newly created role? There are so many theories and not to spoil it since DAYS taped months ahead they are keeping tight-lipped for now.

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali
Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.
Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).
Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier). However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).
Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”
“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.
Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”
In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.

In a metaphor for the start of the school year and their upcoming anniversary in November, Days of our Lives revealed its “Class of Season 62,” with a very clever yearbook montage on their social media handles, welcoming new cast members, while paying respect to the veterans and “class”-iying the other characters in Salem.
The official Days of our Lives Instagram account shared on the posting, “The Class of Salem Season 62 has arrived. Familiar faces, new names and plenty of personality. Flip through our yearbook for a peek at this year’s class.”
Let’s take a look at how they broke it all down: The Salem Yearbook starts with saying “another unforgettable season,” with some group pics, and then we dovetail into Salem’s new class which features: Sydney Malakeh (Sydney DiMera), Brandon Butler (Mason Whitfield), Angelica Nero (Victoria Kiriakis), Cole Gersmeyer (Thomas DiMera) and Lorelei Olivia Mote (Rachel Black).

Next up, are the likes of: Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez), John-Paul Lavoisier (Philip Kiriakis), Tyler Joseph Andrews (Theo Carver) and LeeAnn Hopkins (Joy Wesley). Then, in the “Drama Club” section are: Dan Feuerriegel (EJ DiMera) and AnnaLynne Cipriani (Cat Greene).
Following the ‘Recess” section with some group snaps, comes “Homeroom Highlights” with: Abigail Klein (Stephanie Johnson), Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), Rob Scott Wilson (Alex Kiriakis), Lamon Archey (Eli Grant) and Sal Stowers (Lani Price Grant).
The “Salem Spectator” section features: Conner Floyd (Chad DiMera), Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark), Stowers again, and Ashely Puzemis (Holly Jonas). In the “Afternoon Sweets” section look for: Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis) and Linsey Godfey (Sarah Horton), Emily O’ Brien (Gwen Rizchech), Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera/Susan Banks), Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady), plus Jackée Harry (Paulina Price).
Towards the end of the yearbook, veteran performers such as: Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Johnson), Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson), Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and Josh Taylor (Roman Brady) are featured, plus Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans), James Reynolds (Abe Carver) and Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux), Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) and Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Kiraikis) with her on-screen daughter, Linsey Godfrey.
The Salem Yearbook comes to a conclusion noting “Big things happening in Salem” and to tune-in on Peacock, where we also find Jacob Martinez (Javi Hernandez), Maggie Carney (Rita Lesley), and a host of other favorites previewing what’s to come this fall.

‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others
As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.
As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.
So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

CHECKMATE?
In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.
The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”
Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.
LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?
In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”
In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”
Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?

Something else I need to say, Anne…and you’re my victim…LOL. Forgive me, my friend. You know how Abby is wary and Leary about moving into the DiMera mansion? Well, it may be that TPTB are insinuating Chad as ‘HEAD’ of the lair for a reason. Chad will be the new Stefano. Like father like son?
Honestly, I don’t care who Daniel Cosgrove plays, as long as they keep him around this time. He’s a great actor and brought real layers and complexity to the role of Aiden. He and Hope were awesome together, and I hated how the writers completely turned his character around and made him a scapegoat and attempted murderer.
If he’s a new character, here’s hoping he’ll play Peter Blake, Frankie Brady or Andrew Donovan.

I agree. I can’t believe they let him go. He is an awesome actor, good-looking and I loved Hope with him. I love Rafe and think Rafe and Hope have chemistry, but they are friends not lovers. I want him to protect her but step away as wanting her. He has no kids, he should be with a woman that can give him a kids. I want him to be AIDEN, not Peter, not anyone but himself. I want the man that died to be an imposter.

Aidens twin Caiden…real Aiden couldn’t kill Hope so Andre used mind control on Caiden to make him think he is Aiden and had him attempt to kill hope while Aiden was kept a prisoner but now Andre is using mind control on Aiden who thinks he is Caiden to make ghostly visits as Aiden to torment Hope but soon Aiden as Caiden will remember he is really Aiden but is caught by Rafe…Aiden tries to convince Rafe it was Caiden who pretended to be Aiden who attempted to kill Hope under Andres mind control and then Andre used Aiden as Caiden pretending to be Aiden to torment Hope but memories flooded back and he remembers he is Aiden not Caiden who pretended to be Aiden…Rafe remembers when he once had a double and is convinced now it was Caiden not Aiden who attempted to kill Hope as Aiden and that Aiden under mind control thinking he was Caiden pretending to be ghostly Aiden tormenting Hope when it was really Aiden not Caiden because Caiden died while pretending to be Aiden….lol

I like Danial C. Hope he is the Aiden twin. the son could use some family. Right now he is in trouble. Not law trouble but feeling terrible. He needs some family. Of course Andre will be doing something. to get Hope.. I would rather Hope be with Danial C than Rafe. I like Rafe fine , but just not with Hope.The show is awful right now. Wash rinse and repoeart. patch made to screw that pig. At least kayla has been saved but we know Sammi the second. no thanks. I never liked EJ for this before , and now I was just hoping Patch would have waterboarded that pig., to find out where she had kayla. She is something. Hits her in the hotel, and finds a place to put her where no one sees it, or hears her screaming. ? She is strong enough to carry her away also. ?.
Chase will end up being Ava and Steve’s son…plenty of family.

This is great news. Daniel Cosgrove is a terrific actor who did a wonderful job with all the layers of Aiden. I was so disappointed that Aiden was killed. How I wish TPTB would find a new part for Daniel and bring him and the fantastic Kassie DePaiva back full time.

Not a fan of Eve. Kassie is a good actor but her daughter is gone she has no storyline now.
I really like Daniel Cosgrove and am sol glad he will be back. He was great on ATWT and Days! This should be an interesting turn of events no matter what character he plays!

Days needs to do something to excite the show. Don’t know if this is it, but we’ll see. So tired of the boring teen stories. These teens ARE NOT Shawn, Belle, Philip, Chloe, Mimi–the actors who played these characters could actually act. This new crew is horrible–nuCiara especially. She ruins every scene she’s in. I know that’s harsh, but I am just so tired of her and having her on the show. RECAST STAT!

Bringing back characters, or at least actors, when we were told it wouldn’t be happening…. gives me hope that the death of Will Horton will be reversed, and that he will be coming back with either Guy Wilson or someone new.
I have said myself Will isnt dead…he survived the attack but is in a coma and in a care facility outside of Salem.

Well if Aiden, Will, Serena, Paige, Bo and Daniel all end up alive on some island of Stefano’s that be fine by me. I also would like Stefano to be alive too– he can meet his maker in some way later, it just never sat right with me that Hope murdered him even under distress. Personally I always thought Stefano who cheated death a million times over the years should die in some simple way, like choking on a grape — to me that would have been poetic justice for the Phoenix– done in by a piece of fruit.
A chocolate covered cherry would be good too, Mary.
Maybe it’s either to play Aiden’s evil Twin brother (that no one ever knew about) or it’s just to do some nightmare dream sequence – who knows – it’s all speculation on our parts I suppose. At any rate, he is a good actor, have liked him since his days on All My Children so if he returns it’s a-ok with me.
Will be interesting to see what develops.
For months I would only tune into “Days” to hear Mac Carey and hopefully see a scene with Daniel Cosgrove or James Read. This is very good news and I hope it is a long term role.

On a random side note here, Victor’s brother shows up claiming something about Victor’s fiancee and 30 years ago. In REAL soap time, Victor K showed up on the Salem canvas 31 years ago, in 1985. So there’s that. Second, the son of Victor K, Phillip, was rapidly aged, and graduated high school in 2002, which was 14 years ago, which would logistically make the character of Phillip 32. However, with the rapid aging of Claire, Phillip is closer to 40 now. So…..at what point 30 years ago did this mystical fiancee of Victor’s exist? 30 years ago, Victor would have been married to Kate. Or fending Vivian off. Victor has been in Salem for approximately 40 years, storyline time wise. So this brother thing just rings completely false. Maybe if it was 50 years ago, but who would care? I wish writers would have as much memory, reverence, and knowledge of the backstories of characters as we the fans have. It’s always great to hire another Emmy winner, but to saddle him with a character that makes NO sense right out of the starting gate is just unfair handicapping. cough cough Michelle Stafford cough Roger Howarth.

Just as the chemistry between Hope and Aiden was blossoming they killed him off. That was too bad, but I thought may be they did it to bring Bo back, but then they killed him off. Perhaps, they wanted to bring Hope and Rafe together to tighten up and tie together some lead actors/characters. I think Rafe and Hope may be fine and even good together- I can even see them together in the sense that they are both on the police force, etc., but I was disappointed how they dealt with Aiden as I said just when the chemistry with Hope was blooming. Days tends to do this they either abruptly end things or drag things out too long – there needs to be a balance. With that said, you start to invest in a relationship or character, and then they are gone, so it takes awhile for something else to build, and my tendency is to tune out and stop watching for awhile until something else peaks my interest. I understand that Days wants to keep shaking things up, making changes in relationships, etc. because they may be concerned that the relationships get boring, people lose interest, and they want to keep it fresh, etc., but often the timing to end something is off. I understand that some of it may be because of contractual issues, or other behind the scene logistics, but they need to have a better sense of the pulse and ‘read’ the situation, so they do not destroy something just as it is getting good or better. If you are engrossed in a relationship, don’t cut it off at the knees. I am all for trying new things, moving things around, making changes, introducing new characters, keeping it exciting to see what will happen next, so the show does not get stale, but again don’t cut it off just as you are getting invested. That would be like reading a novel, and just as the plot or a relationship starts to develop, and you want to see more of where it will go, the book is taken away from you. Then it disorients you, and takes awhile to get back in the saddle because you have to start a new. So Days let’s have some stability with plot and character growth and development with a core group of characters and storylines, and then add in some new characters, and make some nuances of change to keep all interesting, but don’t keep reinventing the wheel, or throw the baby out with the bath water. It is exhausting, frustrating, and disappointing at times. Let things sizzle to keep whetting our appetites.
I loved him! So glad to hear he is coming back; hopefully for a long time.

Sorry, but Days was great in the Fall. The writers have gotten awful this winter and adding so many characters spells the same old same old with Days decline, ruining long standing loved characters to prop up a bunch of unknowns.
Right now I find this Jan – Feb on Days its worst in 6 months.
What happened? Where is Corday’s promise of a return to caring about the characters and integrity? What happened to all that talk of great writing.
This Jan, this Feb so far is really bad writing.
The worst to me, all of the deaths and funerals. I need a mellow days for at least a month to get the killings out of my head.
When the teens showed up it took a nose dive. They messed up and need to start all over again.
These teens are not doing a good job together. No chemistry like Phil, Belle, Shawn, Mimi and Brady.
Definitely no chemistry like Nick, Will, Gabi, Sonny, Chad and Abigail. They had the ratings high when they were together.
…… And THIS is why I quit Days again. I knew I’d only last a short while @ Bo’s death. The show is horrible. Hate the recasts, teen stories and everything else. Not even Stephen & MaryBeth can keep me watching anymore. I quit for 7 years and I’m quitting again.
Excuse me, but didn’t Ken Corday practically guarantee that anyone killed from the point of the 50th anniversary on would remain dead? In my mind NOTHING has been worse for soaps than the trend of killing off characters and then bringing them back. Just, lame.
BUT, maybe Hope will simply be hallucinating. At least that wouldn’t be as bad. (And I totally appreciated Haiden, JUST cannot stand the idea of the back from the dead when the character was killed onscreen!)
I thought it was said once an actor was dead, they were going to not bring them back. So what’s up with this, I don’t get it.
I am glad to hear this news.I think Daniel Cosgrove is a great actor.I really liked Aiden and Hope together until they had him turn into a nutcase.I was really hoping for a longterm relationship between Aiden and Hope.It is going to be interesting to see what happens when Daniel Cosgrove returns… who will his character be?
