Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck Finally Leaving THE VIEW?

Courtesy/ABC
Within the past 48 hours there have big changes and rumblings that will alter ABC’s morning talk show, The View, forever!
First came word that co-host Joy Behar had decided to call it quits after 17 years with the series relating,“It seemed like the right time. You reach a point when you say to yourself, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things on my plate I want to do — I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup.”
On the heels of that announcement came some controversy about another ‘View’ co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck! According to Us Weekly, Hasselbeck is going to be shown the front door because being the series resident conservative, and after market research, it revealed that Elizabeth just isn’t popular with TV audiences and is “too extreme and right wing!” However a spokesperson for The View told Us Weekly, “Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long term contract.”
What do you think ABC should do with The View if Behar and Hasselbeck are both gone? What do you think of Hasselbeck … not your cup of tea, either? Can the show survive if it was just Whoopi, Barbara Walters, and Sherri Shepherd? Who would you bring in to replace Hasselbeck and Behar? Many questions, but let us know your thoughts!
I like Elizabeth. Joy can go. Elizabeth is the only rep. with the rest dem. She gets the raw end all the time. They pit her against the rest with Joy just being an obnoxous idiot. So Michael I love Elizabeth & I am a registered dem.
I’m just going to co-sign this. I did not like Elisabeth a first, but I think she has really grown a lot on the show. I am also a registered democrat and think there’s a place for Elisabeth on The View. On the other hand, I think Joy mostly phones it in, isn’t funny and the show really would be better without her.
I am so hopeful that foul-mouthed, vulgar Joy Behar might leave the view. She is disgusting and a disgrace to women everywhere. I hope Elisabeth can move on and find a better forum for her talents. She is a classy lady who embodies family values.
I think them losing Joy is a big loss……but as far as Elisabeth….it’s about damn time! I have NEVER been a fan of hers. Bring back Lisa Ling and get rid of Elisabeth…LOL
Ditto. Anytime Elizabeth opened her pie hole I changed the channel. Quickly! Shudder at the thought of her obnoxious blabbering. At least ABC finally got a clue about something.
Now bring back our soaps. lol.
Ditto!
the thing that bothers me about elizabeth is that she comes across like a know-it-all…every subject that is discussed she tries to overtalk everyone else to get her point of view heard…she’s not one i’d be sorry to see go…she’s never been a favorite of mine.
I agree w/Abby!
It’s called The View for a reason. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Elizabeth having her own point of View, even if some others don’t agree with her. We are not all the same. We have different beliefs and Views and its nice to have someone with a voice back those views up, no matter what your views are. It would be pretty damn boring
if they all walked around agreeing with eachother.
Good for Joy. She is a funny lady and she will be missed by many, I am sure. I wish her luck in her new endeavors.
Well, even-tho Joy Behar said;
” You reach a point when you say to yourself, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things on my plate I want to do — I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup.””
I don’t believe it, nope and I think they backed Joy into a corner and ABC has another of their firing conspiracies going on to let her go..
She is not telling the truth! why she is leaving, nope, it’s ABC and the producers of the view in a conspiracy to ruin the View.
Can’t trust a word they say !
((LOL sarc.. 🙂
If Ms. Hasselbeck, I may finally watch again. Haven’t in years because of her over the top extreme right wing sentiments.
I agree with you about Ms. Hasslebeck ‘s extreme right wing sentiments!
I hope so…. she’s always known… she wasn’t “popular”…. well liked.
geez! Babs… honestly? your show is tanking… has been.
i really hate to see joy leave the show – i actually can not tolerate elizabeth so i only watch when they have a guest on that i really like…..
She was the only one I could stomach elitist women gossiping and yelling there points of view have seen there day. The beginning of the end
I don’t watch the View!!! But… it is pretty sad that out of 5 plus women sitting discussing any issue… viewers can’t tolerate having at least one conservative in the discussion!!! How very sad!! I like Elizabeth and wish her good luck if she wants and cans stay or if she goes elsewhere where she is appreciated!
I’m an Independent and don’t watch The View because the intolerance of three out of the five women infuriated me when I did watch. We’re all entitled to our opinions. Too bad every time I tuned in it was a scream fest in an attempt to silence opposing view points. Note to Barbara Walters & ABC: close to half the country vote Elizabeth’s way. Pretending they don’t exist or that their beliefs are stupid alienates a lot of viewers.
elizabeth expressing her conservative views isn’t the problem….its her being a jackass about them that bugs people
It is about time! I do not know how Elisabeth has lasted this long,
Me either!
Hasselbeck’s offensive. I remembe one brilliant (I say this with sarcasm) question she asked to actor Jason Biggs, who is Roman Catholic. She asked him if “it bothered him that people thought he was Jewish…” THAT stupidity and touch of anti-semitism was enough for me.
The View needs a change. Too much talking over each other and half of the time, it sems the hosts do not like each other. That is fine for behind the scenes, but it shouldn’t be that obvious on the screen.
Bring back Meredith and add an entirely new panel.
I think its time for this show to call it a day. Barbara Walters is long past retirement. Watching a group of women bitch about politics they know NOTHING about is embarrrassing and absurd day after day. I hope Elisabeth could go on to more serious journalism. Sherri can act or do comedy, as can Whoopi. As for Joy, i suggest a LONG retreat into menopause OFF camera.
I agree.
If the show is called “the view”‘ then leave Elizabeth alone. He values and options make for a good show.
I disagree..
I would say replace it with our lost soap but really do not trust ABC.The Veiw has seen its better days years ago.The salurated talkers have taken there toll.Seems three more next year.ABC line up is all talk and cooking except for GH.Seems like they would see people are being turned off by non stop talk show.Katie is struggling in the young demo so why isn’t she cancelled.Other shows are cancelled for this reason.
I think unless you have all points of view represented on the show, you need to change the title to The Spew because all it turns into is spewing a certain invective and imposing one particular viewpoint.
This show would not be missed by me. They are all annoying. Just the sound of Joy Behar voice is annoying. I really do not understand why so many people watch this show. They are bunch of uneducated people giving their opinions about things. Barbara is the only person worth listening to because she has lived long enough to have experienced many things in life. “The Talk” is even worse. I have decided that the people who watch these shows have no choice, they don’t have cable.
These are quite the shakeups on the daytime talk show landscape. It’s great that useless behar could be leaving. It’s greater that dull probst got axed. It’s the greatest that uncharismatic blanderson cooper was fired! Right wing fox news would probably hire hasselbeck and give her a talk show of her own w/c would be her conservative platform where she wouldn’t be attacked by tolerant liberals from hollywood like whoopi and rosie. That would be ideal for hasselbeck. It’s commendable that she lasted on the view especially bec she’s its lone conservative battling against strident liberals like joy and especially rosie who didn’t triumph against hasselbeck and even had to quit. Those rumors abt hasselbeck being too right wing and not popular for the view’s paltry audience are hilarious. There wouldn’t even be a show w/o hasselbeck’s contributions to it bec she provides conflict. Heck she’s not only the lone conservative on the view but she’s probably the only openly conservative woman from all the daytime talk shows. Reformatting would be good for the view. They only need to replace hasselbeck. They should cast a Latina american who is a conservative to replace hasselbeck should she quit. There would be no conflict on the view if there’s no conservative personality. There’s really no need to even replace behar who can’t even carry her own talk show on al gore’s channel. Her talk show was really low rated on al gore’s flop channel. Wasn’t gore’s unprofitable channel purchased by a corporation w/c wasn’t environmentally friendly? If they replace behar then they should hire a Native american personality for even more racial diversity. If behar and hasselbeck do leave then it would be great if their replacements were racial minorities. Talk shows severely lack racial diversity. The Talk is successful bec it’s the most racially diverse. While the lack of racial diversity on probst and horrid blanderson cooper’s failed talk shows definitely hurt their already pathetic ratings.
And that old broken record plays on. yawn…i need a nap!
You do have a right to express your own opinion here and any where else but could you once in awhile play a different song? I do like the way you express yourself and i even agreed with you about diversity but soon no ones going to listen to you repeatedly sing the same tune.
I quit watching the View 5 years ago because of Elisabeth. I enjoy intelligent conversation when people have different opinions. But Elisabeth was shrill and rude. She always seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. I have tuned in from time to time but as soon as Elisabeth went into one of her shrill rants I would change the channel. I really liked Joy. If Elisabeth leaves and they bring in some good replacements I will consider viewing again. Sheri could go to . She is just fluff. The Talk is fluff the View needs to go back to intelligent panelist.
I think The View would be mighty boring if everyone agreed on everything. However, with The Talk sometimes beating them in the ratings, maybe ABCfigures pointless but somewhat entertaining chit chat might be a better way to go. Personally, I like The View when things get heated and serious.
I used to love the View. Watched everyday. I stopped about 2 years ago because of Elizabeth. I got tired of her b.s., her perfect life, her perfect children etc, etc.. She just doesn’t know when to shut up. I get it that this was the whole point of the show different people different views. But she is just to over the top. . I would get so pissed it was just stupid so I stopped watching. I am however very sad to see Joy go, She is a very funny and smart lady. She will be missed. I will watch again until Joy leaves and then I will stop again until the high and almighty Hasselbeck is gone.
Don’t really care. Never liked the show after Meredith left!
I personally do not mind Elizabeth. I just believe that no matter everyone’s personal beliefs each side (liberal and conservative) should be heard. I do not believe Elizabeth is any more “extreme and right wing” than Joy and Whoopi are left wing, and in my opinion, not that I watch regularly, that’s sort of what makes the show interesting.
Ready for a change. Keep Joy. Love Barbara, but she is not as sharp as she used to be . We all get old! She needs to be on less often. Sherry not as funny as she used to be. Elisabeth is boring and self -ritious. Used to watch the view regularly but have stopped watching . Whoopi is good buT she is boring also since abc censors her too much. Bring in Allie Wentworth. She is hilarious . Time will tell if abc gets it right…….
Love Joy Behar, will miss her! Good riddens to hasselbeck tho’.
I agree with you.
After all these years they are finding out that Elizabeth is a right wing racist. Duh. What is wrong that it would take all these years for ABC to figure it out?
I agree about being a far right wing!
I didn’t care for Joy Behar. I like Eliz. I think they should close the show. It has had its run.
The only thing worse than listening to Elizabeth’s yammering is replacing her with Ann Coulter.
I will miss Joy. She and Whoopie are the ones who keep me tuning in to the show.
Wow Michael biased much? You don’t talk about Joy Behar’s extreme liberal views.
Elizabeth was never vile and mean spirited in her opinions like Joy was. Liberals love
to be tolerant and open-minded until you disagree with them. I know that there are people on both political parties that are awful but let’s be honest, If you’re liberal you can be as hateful as you want in the media and get away with it. For example a certain general hospital star uses her twitter account to vilify republicans, bully Bristol
Palin and talk about wanting to physically hurt Sarah Palin with no backlash. But when another actress says she supports a republican for president she’s stupid, evil racist, homophobic when those accusations are totally unfounded. It’s so hypercritical.
Amen ron right on!!!!
Elizabeth is just…. plain out dumb…
even i wouldn’t want her representing…. ????
she’s dull… uninteresting… and it’s embarrassing to watch her “break bread”.
Don’t care for her either…
To Ron: Thank you!
It took them THIS LONG to realize Hasselback isn’t popular?? SMH
I agree!
Whether she leaves or not, the show is still horrible. It should be kicked off of the air. Elisabeth and Barbara’s horrific choices have killed it for me. All it is are women of an adult age (supposedly) yelling and arguing with each other.
I stop watching the view because of Elizabeth. So… if it was true.. I would watch it again. I’m sorry that Joy is leaving. She was fun to watch.
I am happy to see Joy go, and would be sorry if Elizabeth leaves. Then again, I don’t watch The View anymore…..I prefer The Talk.
I a just the opposite I like Joy and NEVER cared for Elizabeth”s off the wall opinions. She is too prissie for me…
Does it really matter? Who cares what they do with it. Talk shows survive with one host so i see no problem with three. Hardly watch it anyway.
I think Joy has outgrown The View, having hosted 2 of her own shows on prime time. I loved her on her HLN show. I don’t mind Elizabeth, but can understand if audiences were not warming to her conservative convictions. I actually only watch because of Whoopi and Sherrie.
I actually stopped watching the view because of Elizabeth. I enjoyed watching her when she was on Survivor and was looking forward to seeing her on the View; that is until she actually started talking. If she ever leaves, I will watch the View again.
I’d be happy for Elizabeth to leave. Her shrill voice makes me cringe. Don’t care what her views are; it’s the presentation that makes me switch the channel.
It’s her presentation that bothers me. She acts like a spoiled child and gets so indignant when anyone disagrees with her. All views should be heard but surely there is a more intelligent, better spokesperson for the right. And I am glad to hear others think she is shrill
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the ONLY person on “The View” whom I DO like. Her departure would affect the Program adversely. Behar’s absence would improve the Show in Content, Appearance and Politics.
I agree 100%.
Never cared for Elizabeth! I like Joy! Don’t care for Elizabeths policial opinions. Elizabeth is the only Rep. of the bunch!
I agree. Her departure would improve ratings, not kill them as the OP stated.
Joy and Whoopi are the only two co-hosts to tune in for, in my opinion. I’ve always found Joy hilarious, especially when Barbara Walters and Sherri Sheperd are so dull, it’s nice to have her boisterous personality, along with Whoopi’s, to keep things lively. Elisabeth is horrific, I don’t know know why she was ever even hired to begin with, let alone how she lasted this long.
Don’t care for Sherri or Elizabeth! Sherri thinks she is the head honcho of the show.
Sherri talks the most in my opinion & she thinks she knows it all & when there is a
eating segment she is the first one at the table , to fill her mouth up w/food. And she is alway’s talking about Jeffrey this, Jeffrey that ! And I don’t want to see her
in a bathing suit…I like on The View is Whoopi,Joy, & Barbara…
That show is way too liberal. I’m a gay man and I’m saying that. LOL. They need a voice of reason like Meredith Vieira. Elizabeth irritates me, but so do the rest of them.
I agree 100%! For a proper “View” the show should have a balance….two liberal hosts, two conservative ones and two moderate or in the middle hosts.
Also the host should change every few years.
I agree, and I’m also gay. I’d rather see all the hosts as moderate who tell it like it is, with no spin. Personally, though, I think the show should come to a close.
From celebrity worth ;
yearly–
Barbara Walters makes $12 mil,
Joy Behar makes $3 mil,
Whoopi Goldberg makes $2 mil,
Elisabeth Hasselbeck makes $1 mil,
and Sherri Shepherd makes $0.75 mil
Mother Earth Blues…- Babs herself…. the salt of the earth… rest on her laurels… word up… 12 mil? give me a break already.
it’s time for her flock to reel it in and pull up stakes…. The talk surpassed them eons ago…. the Talk doesnt’ take themselves seriously and lets their individual person’alities shine…. the view is dimmer than Babs nonsensical mumbling…
Thank you Joy Behar…. it must have been a chore at times… to overlook the script and/or agenda of left and right wing politic’ing… both you and Whoopie innately… surmissed the obvious and with your innate person… witted and hoopla’ed it up for the obvious… that… it was all steered… and we have the last laugh.
enjoy that Jewish Marriage and cross over with abandon….
Hasselbeck’s presence on the show makes it impossible for me to sit through more than a minute of it.
I actually HATE Elizabeth. Her uninformed and biased rants based on Fox news talking points have made me unable to tune in. I haven’t watched since Rosie left.
I never liked Elizabeth. Liked Joy Behar . And I don’t care for Sherri Sheperd either… Sherri seems to me that she is the head honcho on the view..She seems to me she talks the most & when there is an eating segment she is the first one there to fill her MOUTH with food & alway’s talking about Jeffrey! And who is interested in seeing her in a bathing suit (please)! Like Whoppi too! & Barbara but not Elizabeth & Sherri! Don’t watch The View for about 2-3 years now. Because I am not interested in watching Elizabeth or Sherri. They need to replace those two..
Could not agree more with you two!
I really love the “The View” and I really like Joy. She brings some humor and wit to the heated arguments. I will miss her …
Joy Behar was the only reason I would tune in to “The View” about once a week. Elizabeth Hasselbeck, for a conservative prude, really wasn’t that bad.
I mean she wasn’t wanting to de brain wash all gay people like Michelle Bachman, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum and all the other Repubs. So in my book Liz wasn’t too awful.
Rumors have brooke shields replacing hasselbeck and no one replacing progressive loudmouth behar. Giggles! Grossly valued behar doesn’t even need a replacement w/c i previously wrote. Fiery brooke could be good on the view. It would be great for the view bec shields does not cower from confronting a listers. her acting career is pretty much anemic. the view would be something not ideal for an actress. But actresses love the attention. And being on the view would provide some attention to brooke.
Never really watched, but my mom did, and stopped watching when this idiot appeared. Elizabeth is just too extreme. I doubt she’ll be missed by many. I’d rather see the show be cancelled though.
Replace them with Betty White.
That’s all I have to say. Ha!

Christel Khalil Reveals She Almost Quit Acting After ‘That’s So Raven’ Audition, But Then Came ‘The Young and the Restless’

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is the special guest on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped today on Tuesday, June 23rd.
During the interview with Rebecca and Greg, Khalil who had played Lily Winters on-screen since August of 2002, nearly 24 years with the CBS soap, shared how early on her teenage acting career, she was ready to call it quits in show business, after a heartbreaking audition for the lead of a new Disney Channel sitcom, which later turned out to be the hit seres, That’s So Raven, starring Raven-Symoné which ran for four seasons from 2003-2007.
Christel recalled what happened. “I was 14 and I had always auditioned for all these Disney projects. So I auditioned for That’s So Raven, it was between me and Raven-Symoné and it was called at the time Absolutely Psychic,” explained Khalil. “The character was this girl who had psychic ability, but then when Raven got the role, they named the title of the show after her.”

Photo: CBS
HOW A BROTHERLY TALK CHANGED THE COURSE OF CHRISTEL’S CAREER
Reliving the disappointment to Greg and Rebecca, Christel explained, “I lost that part and I was just so devastated, because for the network call there were 20 people in the room watching me, and I just have always had such performance anxiety. I just completely bombed the audition and it was terrible. So, I was just devastated. I was actually going to quit acting and then I got the final call for The Young and The Restless and I wasn’t going to go.”
It was Khalil’s brother, who actually got her to reconsider, and if he hadn’t, we would not have our Lily Winters in Genoa City! Christel recounted, “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to hang out with my friends.’ I was just devastated. My brother, who is seven years older than me, and he had quit acting at the same age that I was at that time. He said to me, ‘I promise you, I actually really regret quitting. Just go on this audition and if you don’t get it, you can quit.'”
Christel’s screen-test for the role of Lily was actually with the late, great, Kristoff St. John who would play her father Neil (Later it was revealed to Lily, that Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters was her bio-dad).

Photo: CBS
ACTING WAS EASY WITH THE LATE KRISTOFF ST. JOHN
“So, I went (to test for Lily) and I remember the screen-test was with Kristoff St. John. It was just so easy to act with him because he’s just so there. I remember just being on set, and that was my first time there for a screen-test where you were actually on set. I had never experienced that before. It was my first time being with an actor and having makeup done, which just helps you really be able to do your best work.”
Recalling the screen-test with the St. John, Khalil, “It was where I had to be emotional ( in the scene) and I always had issues being emotional at auditions. But I was there with him, it just came, and it happened. It was natural and I felt so good and it was amazing. It stands out in my mind a lot.”
You can check out the full Soapy conversation with Christel Khalil where she also discusses juggling motherhood, marital life, and the demands of soap operas.

Now let us know, over the years what had been your favorite Lily Winters story on Y&R as played by Christel Khalil? Days Of Our Lives
Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

Photo: NBC
There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.
TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME
While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

Photo:JPI
The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Photo: NBC
Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

Photo: JPI
One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.
Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.
Share your congratulations to Deidre Hall for this incredible 50-year milestone as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives in the comment section. Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.
