It’s A Wrap For Mishael Morgan At Y&R

Wednesday turned out to be the final tape date of the exiting Mishael Morgan (Hilary) of The Young and the Restless.

Morgan had made the decision to depart the CBS Daytime drama series several weeks back, and now it was time for her to say goodbye to her cast mates and her role.

Mishael posted via social media two images: one of the CBS Television City iconic building and its parking lots, and the other a gathering attended by many of her castmates including: Bryton James (Devon), Peter Bergman (Jack), Kate Linder (Esther), Daniel Goddard (Cane) and Christian LeBlanc (Michael).

Sharing her sentiments along with the images, Morgan wrote  “…and that’s a wrap. Just over five years ago, I tweeted a pic of CBS to announce the start of my journey on Y&R. Now, I have to say good bye. Sooo bittersweet. Thank you to everyone who supported me on my journey. On to the next adventure!

How do you think Hilary will be written out of Y&R? Sad to hear this was Mishael’s final tape date? Comment below.

I am sorry to see Ms. Morgan go. The character evolved into Y&R’s best bad girl with a heart in a long long time. She reminded me some of Carly from ATWT. You want to take such characters to task for their shenanigans but oh, we understand why Hilary, an outsider, may have made the choices she did. The character was interesting in there was just enough comeuppance and remorse but she could not help stumbling again. And Ms. Morgan is a joy to watch. Not sure writers paid Hilary her due, but Ms. Morgan rose above it all. Best wishes! I will be scanning my screens for your next roles!

I agree totally. Mishael was a terrific actor and Hillary was one of the best vixen’s YR saw in years. I am definitely not a “Heavon” fan so I wont be sorry to see that story end. But I will be sad to see Mishael depart. I cant wait to follow her to prime time or wherever she goes!

Hilary will lose the baby and leave poor Devon. Devon will turn to men, for comfort. Devon will come out as bisexual.

Horrible thought

Lol. That would be quite a twist! But I dont think the brass would let it happen. Many viewers complained about “Tessiah” ( Tessa & Mariah)so CBS and Sony had to tell Mal Young ( Headwriter) to cool it off. Sad because I thought they were a great couple.

Really I just don’t like the Tessa character.. cannot warm up to her at all…

Good Gawd, that will only give the bozo character more air-time, so I hope not! The actor is awful!

Honestly, DMR, we lose Dante but keep Lulu and now we lose Hillary but keep Duh Yawn! I will say it again, life is unfair.

Hey, Gary. If that happened he’d need to change his name to Bivon.

When is Hillary’s last day on the show ?

Normally within 2 months with how y&r tapes. 6 months if on days

Glad to see the last of Hilary.

OMG, I guess Karen, we are in the few that don’t care for Hilary, or in my case , can’t stand! Maybe we’ll see her in another role, being as nice as they say, she is in person.
Today’s show just compounded my feelings. Strutting around, and almost blowing smoke and fire, because this man didn’t know, or care who she was , Hilary Curtis, goddess to all!

I guess this is more of an addendum? Seems like the M.M lovers might be seeing more of her on GH if rumor is true. Auntie called someone to come break up Curtis and Jordan. What better person, right up her alley!

I wish she would take that awful LILY with her.I Cannot stand that woman…

I agree, terrible actress! I’ve seen 10 yr. olds perform better than her!!!

Wow so sad to see such a talented actress leave.

I agree, She was the Excitement of the show! All the others are okay…But her performances were Always A plus…..

Maybe she leave town to start another show and maybe she move there to

Wahooo!

Wow
Hillary will lose the baby, and leave town devastated with a note to Devon, begging him to allow her time to heal.

They should recast the role.

Maybe they will bring in someone new poor Devon

I will miss her character on Y & R. She did a great job. She could make you love her, despise her and even feel sorry for her. That is great acting. Good luck to her in the future. I am sure it will be a great one.

I agree. She was very versatile but I loved her best as a vixen. I can’t to see where her career takes her next. I hope she pops up soon on Prime time. I love nothing better than to see hard working soap stars make the big time. She is one who truly deserves success.

She was a bona fide star of the show, this was not the way to treat her (not granting a proper raise) and Ms. Morgan is making it a win and taking her stellar talents elsewhere. It may be controversial and very hard to find someone who lit up the screen like her, but I’d like to see Hillary recast, even to wrap things up a bit more. I wish Ms. Morgan the best in deserved big opportunities, she is simply awesome.

There isn’t anyone to replace MM.

It’s a shame to see her go. I think the executives should rethink losing so many good actors/ actresses the show is going downhill fast

Y&R has lost a valuable actor and I hope Ms.Morgan will return after realizing Hilary is in her blood. In the mean time, I wish Mishael (a fellow Canuck) a revegerating rest. Thank you for creative acting Mishael, Y&R won’t be the same he 76ll9v .

Wish her the best – she is a talent. But characters CAN be successfully recast – Jason Thompson, Gina Tognoni. Hope they consider this.

They should recast Jordan with Ms Morgan! Can you imagine her with Curtis? It would be so terrific to see this actress paired up with someone who is worthy of her. I am sorry–Duh Yawn just doesn’t cut it.

What a fantastic idea, Harry!! But, Mishael is sooo very sexy, and a minx; she will have the entire PCPD ( all three of them) salivating, scrambling, and stumbling all over themselves for her attention. The trio is already deficient in comportment and skill…imagine having her around?!

Agree

So sorry to see Ms. Morgan has left the show. Her vitality and talent will be sorely missed and CBS will have an EXTREMELY difficult time finding an actress whose chemistry with Bryton James will be as good.

I thought she was in negotiations again. What happened?

if i was making the decision: the storyline has Hilary moving to NYC ‘indefinitely’ for a career opportunity; Devon comes & goes, etc; we dont see Hilary again until its time for their daughter to be born, and that is obiously some sort of huge drama, i suggest involving Lily, and: RECAST Hilary. In my heart i believe that there are COUNTLESS talented young women who could take over this role; as much as i am a fan of Ms Morgan, i encourage the challenge to a young ambitious actress to take the role and make it her own, make us forget that there ever was another — the way that Gina Tognoni has made us forget the fact that the character she plays was made legend by another actress– aht was her name ? umm.. or can you picture Billy as anyone other than played by Jason Thomspon? Y&R can prove good intentions and opportunities for up & comers as folks like Justin Hartley can attest.. lets wish everyone the best and hope for even more exciting tomorrows! #LoveMyMelodrama

Sorry to see her go but shes a very talented woman. She will end up in primetime and film. Guaranteed.

I am sadder to see that Sony has opted to drain the talents from the number 1 soap in the US. All this will do is drain the interest. hilary was a complicated character on screen and on paper. Written as a true soap bitch out for revenge, every chance since her first story has been a wishy washy pathetically written example of writers and producers afraid to let a black woman be hated! Hilary should be wealthier than so many on this soap due to marrying into both Winter clans. First, when Neil held her in the winter in a boat house in Wisconsin (whomever thought that plot point up i hope is frozen out of a job). She easily could have gotten half Neil’s money then. Then marry Devon, divorce him, get half his dough or a great chunk and we could see her buying Fenmores or any other company and sitting behind the desk.

Add Eileen Davidson to the mix and i wonder what Sony, in the age of the Woman, was thinkijg in not giving these women a raise!! Or a better contract.

With Ashley, Jack is not Jack or Jackie now with Ash. Tracey coming home is just the long lost sister telling us what sis has been up to and then leaving. Abby has lost her best friend and mom. Victor a good sounding board. And any number of other characters from Billy to Nikki etc a perfect story partner.

Y&R, with its bigger sets than Days, is a budget soap now. Teenagers are writing the show from their WRITING 101 classroom at Beverly Hills High. Sony wise up or you will close up shop on this soap soon.

She’ll find out she’s not pregnant after all… false pregnancy and leave town

Hillary was refreshing

I’m going to miss this beautiful talented actress. I was so hoping she would stay. Hopefully I will see her again in other projects.

There are few I have seen who have the ability to shift countenance like Morgan. However, her skill doesn’t move me one way or the other in the Y & R.

To her, recognize your incredible talent; go for it! You deserve it!

Hi, Tani,
I don’t think it’s so much a matter of shifting gears, per se…..they are actors, afterall. It is their ‘duty’, LOL, to play any part; depending on their talent.
I do believe that it is whether the viewer accepts the recast after having been spoiled by the original.
Nonetheless, your comment does have merit…..for example—-Billy Miller was a much better Billy Abbott than David Top. Soooo….
My best, Tani.

Your comment has more credibility than mine; wish I had not posed it as I did. Thanks.Join the discussion…

I think she will lose baby and be so devastated she leaves with out saying goodbye.

Another great loss. Mishael is a most formidable thespian.
I think she is pregnant, for the second time….wish her well–always!!
There is no replacement here, y’all. If there should be, whoever it is, will not do Mishael or Hilary justice. That’s a fact.

Im sorry to see the hillary story come to an end. She was the only excitement in that show anymore.Maybe they will put devon & mariah back together. I will definitely watch for mishael in other things. Shes a very tslented actress. Y&R’s loss someone elses gain. Wish her the best in her future endeavors

If Hillary is to be killed-off she will die in car accidents.
That is a standard for impacting emotional drama.
And ALL actors covet going out in a bang, not a whimper.
or-
she will get involved in Shana’s <-sp drama..
perhaps her drug addict brother will take Hillary out.

I do see Hillary being recast.

Y&R is losing too many characters. I have known a year ago she would leave, Chelsea too.
Hope the 2 return one day….

It was the saddest goodbye and death I’ve ever viewed. She played that scene so well. I’ve taped it and have watched it over and over.

George Cheeks, CBS President & CEO, on Timeline to Launch New Daytime Drama, ‘The Gates’: “We’re So Focused on Getting it Right”

March 2024 will be remembered in the TV and soap world when the news broke that CBS is prepping a brand new daytime drama. Many had thought a major network would never bring a new daytime soap into the world, given that the last time it was attempted was 25 years ago when the now defunct Passions bowed on NBC.

However, The Gates is definitely in development and moving forward with some major players associated with it including: Michele Val Jean as The Gates writer, showrunner and one of its executive producers, and Sheila Ducksworth from NAACP Venture

Now, for the first time since its announcement, George Cheeks, the president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+, spoke on the project that will feature a Black family as its central focus who live in a wealthy gated community.

Photo: NAACP

Speaking with Vulture, and when asked if The Gates is really something that truly has a chance of getting on the air, Cheeks clarified, “It’s super real. And just to give you a little bit of the backstory,  when we hired Sheila Ducksworth to run the NAACP Venture, she and I had multiple meetings talking about what different genres she was going to lean into, and we talked a lot about daytime.”

Cheeks added, “One of the things that the data made very clear to both of us is that daytime soap operas over index with Black women, and yet when you look at soap operas, it’s usually sort of a white-led family with supporting characters that reflect more of our society. So we just thought, wouldn’t it be interesting to flip that and make the core anchor family a Black family, and then make the other characters reflect more the broader scope of society?”

The CEO gave props to Michele Val Jean,  and how Ducksworth came to the table with the former B&B and GH writer. “She found this great writer, Michele Val Jean, who’s been in the soap opera space for 30 years. She came up with a pitch, and we loved it,” shares Cheeks. “We brought Procter & Gamble into it as well, because if there were going to be (product) integrations, we could do it more holistically and organically. All of that is to say, we did a lot of work on the front end to put this together. So while yes, it’s development, it’s accelerated development.”

When prodded on the timeline of when The Gates could come to full fruition, Gates related, “The actual timeline and when we’re going to do it is still uncertain, because we want to get this right. I mean, there hasn’t been a new soap opera launch since I can’t even begin to tell you when. But we have great success with Bold and the Beautiful and Young and the Restless, and so we think we’re the right folks to be launching a new soap. I wish I could tell you more about exact timing, but we’re so focused on getting it right, and that will dictate when we’re ready to launch it.”

The CBS exec also shared that whether The Gates will wind up an hour soap or half-hour is not yet determined, but that it is being developed as an hour show.

So, after reading what George Cheeks, the CBS President & CEO had to say about ‘The Gates’, are you even more excited for what looks to the first new network soap in 25 years? Comment below.

Robyn Bernard, ‘General Hospital’s’ Terry Brock, Dead at 64

Former General Hospital star, Robyn Bernard, who played aspiring singer Terry Brock has died. She was 64-years-old.

Bernard’s body was found Tuesday in San Jacinto, California. A Riverside County Coroner told TMZ they identified the actress’ body using her fingerprints after deputies responded to a death investigation call on Tuesday March 12th.

Sources told the outlet that Bernard’s body was found in the wee hours of the morning. The cause of death has yet to be determined.

Bernard joined General Hospital back in 1984 as Terry Brock, the daughter of the abusive D.L. Brock (played by David Groh). Robyn remained on the ABC soap opera for six years before making her exit in 1990. At one point, Terry’s stepmother would become Bobbie Spencer (the late Jackie Zeman) when the nurse married her father.

Terry was involved in the Laurelton Murders storyline and after first setting her sights on Frisco Jones, wound up with killer Kevin O’Connor. Later, Terry was blamed for several murders and in the end killed Kevin in self-defense. In addition, Terry had a relationship with Dusty Walker played by none other than Shaun Cassidy.  She eventually left Port Charles after landing her own recording contract.
