Chloe Lanier Decides To Exit General Hospital

It’s that time of the year, when many actors contracts are up and decisions are made.

Word this morning from multiple reports including Daytime Confidential revealed that this year’s Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series, GH’s Chloe Lanier is leaving her role as Nelle Benson.

Sources say that Lanier has opted out of her contract to devote more time to focus on primetime and film projects, and pursuing that avenue of her acting career.

Currently, Lanier is heavy in story, as Chloe has manipulated Carly (Laura Wright) into being sent to Ferncliff, is trying to keep Chase (Josh Swickard) at bay from pinning a murder charge on her from the past, while Michael (Chad Duell) and her are expecting their first child together.  How will Lanier’s decision to exit close out these important story points?

Because, GH is taping its final week of airshows before its summer hiatus, Lanier will be wrapping her run by Friday.

Chloe first came to GH fans attention as a young Patricia Spencer in the 2015 standalone and Emmy Award-winning episode where Luke (Tony Geary) remembers his past and murdering his father and accidentally killing his mother.

So, what do you think about Chloe exiting GH? Will you be sad to see her go? How do you think Nelle’s story will end, or will it?  Comment below!

I liked her…she would make a good Alison if they ever did a Peyton Place remake…Nelle will probably end up in a mental hospital-end it with karma and Ava will be caught holding the bag-or blanket-lol!!!….This end to Nelle means i will also stop watching…nothing else at GH to hold my interest!

Kudos to you Jim, I agree with your comment my friend. General hospital is boring, I fast forward my Pvt lol. Days is the best soap, to watch now.

Im sticking with Days…

Days is the only soap i will be watching…

It might be the ONLY soap to watch the way ratings are going… 🙁

GH just doesnt give me a reason to tune in except for Nelle tormenting Carly

LOL, Jimh; I agree regarding Nell/Carly. How I LOVE to see Carly brought down. Unfortunately she’ll be back to her smug, self-righteous self and her old life way too soon.

and one of the many reasons for me to stop watching

I really hope Nell gets in trouble to what she has done to everyone

Claudio, where have you been? Missed you, my friend. All’s well, I hope…
GH has a couple of stories that pique and hold my interest….will wane fast if the scenes and writing are not executed in a tactical fashion….eg. Kiki’s upcoming trial scenes. I can’t wait to see both Scotty’s and Alexis’ adroitness. Oh, and, lest I forget, Elizabeth ( my fellow Suffolk County born ‘export’) in the role of Margaux .

I love Nelle!!! Anyone who causes chaos for Sonny and Carly is hreatin my books!!! But alas, Nelle will be another casualty that will end up attempting to make Sonny look good. Chloe is an awesome actress who makes very unusual choices and they just work!! Her weird smiles……her and Chandler Massey should share a scene and see who could do the creepiest prolonged smile!!! I hope Nelle gives a Quartermaine baby without a baby switch caper. I hope she comes back as a twin who isnt bat shit crazy! I love Nelle!!!

Nelle will secretly give her baby to Brad and Lucas kind of like Heather done with Steven Lars 40 years ago as her final revenge against the Corinthos and Micheal who i am sure she knows is working against her…then a year from now the truth will come out with or without Nelle…

Oh, my Lord, Jimmy. I thought the same thing…..look above.
I sooo don’t want Carly to get that baby!!
And what is that weird relationship between her and Jason? She said something like; he was the most important person in her life? What about her husband? Her kids?
I grind my teeth each time Carly assumes the role of victim; or Miss Goody-Two-Shoes.

I simply looove your comment, Jovin. I feel the same way.
I cannot tolerate how TPTB have, or are trying, to turn Carly into a martyr; a victim. Just as I abhor the idea of watching ‘them’ making Sonny human ( his interaction with his father) ….the crocodile tears do not work for me.
I do hope Nelle is not killed off….that she will return.
By the by….is it possible for Laura ( Genie) to be the mystery person in the ‘cell’ next to Carly’s?
She was, at one point, a mental patient, yes? Well, what if Ryan intercepted her trip to France and has her locked up to hurt Kevin?
Just a thought.

I think something up with Kevin s sneekey

She should of been brought down awhile ago

I haven’t watched it this week.

Too funny, Jimmy. How true!!… yet, I am looking forward to the court scenes with Scotty….I like him that much. I think it will be a treat watching the shenanigans only he can offer, in court.

JimH…I’ve liked Chloe since she made her first appearance in Port Charles in the Fluke story. She and the young man who played her brother, and Carly were the only saving things about Fluke. I wish they had a better story line for her, but she has surely shown her versatility as Nelle. Probably time to step outside of Port Charles to see what else is out there. Just ask Justin Hartley. Also I would never have wanted her to go to Ferncliff. Like many stories I’ve heard about our jails, not a places to help and rehabilitate.

Now if we can just get rid of Peter. Chloe is a good actress, but the character of Nelle never caught on with the fans, including me. I didn’t love to hate Nelle, I just hated the character period.

Maybe Nelle & Whiny Heiny can take a kayak trip together?

I sure hope so, and this can all be done off camera! The parking lot hire has got to go!

I’m actually hoping the opposite. Love Peter and I’m really hoping he’s sticking around. Would love to see him have a relationship with Anna and a possible relationship with Maxi. Find him a completely empathetic character. And, I like the actor.

I agree with you Rebecca. I love Peter and want him to have a relationship with Anna.

Let’s hope, Barb. Hope the majority DO like Peter and the “powers” decide to keep him on.

rebecca1, It seems we are in the minority here. I also like Wes/Peter and have also felt that Peter got a raw deal from the day he was born, being raised by Faison, and counselled by Valentin. Now Liesel is continuing where they left off, with her own special torture, which is very hard to watch. I wonder what the writers think we are getting from all the sadistic stuff we’ve seen lately? Thank God for FF on my DVR.

Hi Violet..

Happy 4th! I think (hope) okay, read 😉 that Peter will be saved, by none other than Finn and Franco! Should be fun. Nothing like a double does of snark (Finn and Franco, lol, the bearded dragon vs a bag of chips.)

By the way, very strange. I got your reply to me regarding Jacqueline/Steffy, read it here on this board and it seems both mine and your comment was deleted! Maybe “Steffy” wasn’t happy?

rebecca1 Happy 4th to you also. I do see our comments re:JMW on her interview page. There are many, and I found ours wayyyyyy down at the bottom.

HI Violet and Rebecca1…Count me in as liking Peter/Wes. But as is their right, I just can’t figure out why so many dislike him. The main thing that comes up is “parking- lot-hire” who is in a real relationship with Laura/Carly. Maybe because so many have a problem with character Carly they have let it rub on on Peter?

I had a happy, but nostalgic 4th. Possibly because I was sorting out old photos, am being reminded frequently about my high school class reunion in October, and watched Yankee Doodle Dandy with James Cagny. It sure isn’t the world I grew up in, and I think I can safely say this applies to many of us. Even to not so many fireflies.

Same as General Hospital not being what we remember. Maybe that’s why I am having trouble with the recent stories. Why is it that Y&R and B&B seem to incorporate all generations, but GH has trouble doing it except some cameos with vets like Monica?

And curses to the woman trophy hunter who killed the giraffe, just after another “hunter” killed another lion like Cecil by luring him out of his protected area. Again using the same reasons these people use to rationalize that they are doing a service to the species and local economy. Better be careful if the Hals (2001 Space Odyssey). of the future look at humans the same way.

Oh, jeez, Rose. I haven’t been keeping up! I think the news got me so completely down (lets’ not even touch the subject) but I was completely consumed. Took in every story, etc and I just needed a break. Everything feels so surreal to me; I feel like all the negative in society has been unleashed and a license to kill (literally) has been granted. Do not get me started on hunters; too abhorrent for words, especially when you consider the beautiful beings that we share this earth with that they think they have the right to kill. No moral compass on so many levels…

None of the soaps have older actors on now. B&B has John McCook, who I believe is 74 and still a stunning man, but he stands alone in that group. I think there are two secondary characters who are in their late 60s but it goes from 50s on down from there.

Days doesn’t have any older vets, either. I think one or two in their 60s and then downward.

As for GH, the more “mature” vets: Jane Elliot and Tony Geary chose to leave, some have passed away. But I agree; there is absolutely no excuse not to bring back Jack Wagner, John York, Lynn Herring, Kin Shriner, Genie Francis, Tristan Rogers…no excuse other than…drum role: AGEISM! LOL: I can’t state that with certainty but it does indeed look like the show feels in order to attract newer viewers it has to go “out with the old, in with the new” which we are seeing constantly. Not sure that’s working for them. Who knows where the ratings would be if they brought back the older vets. Another reason could be budget. The more experienced actors who have been with the show for years command a higher salary.

Wonder if the ratings went up when Tristan was on recently. I LOVED seeing him. It’s the first time in a long time they actually gave him something semi-interesting. Last time I think he sat in the back row of Robin’s re-marriage to Patrick and then left.

Our soaps of yesteryear? In the words of Wordsworth:

What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind…

Yes, she was brought back on with a dubious story line that never was believable.

Prison or Ferncliff. Can’t imagine they’ll kill off another of Michael’s girlfriends.

Now, as for what happens to the baby after she leaves. Does Michael get custody, or did Nelle secretly sell the baby to Lucas and Brad?

Due to the summer hiatus, they are at their furthest point from air date. Lanier will probably be on screen for 6-7 weeks.

That would really drive Carly to the mad house!
If she doesn’t exit that way, did they ever mention if they will replace her

I’m sad to see her go. I loved Nelle. I’ve been wanting someone to stick it to Carly for a long time and it finally happened. Gonna miss her conniving, evil ways but wish Chloe luck in her career.

Thank you, Connie! It’s hard to find those of us who enjoyed Nell getting over on Carly. I, for one, was joyous. Unfortunately, Carly will probably be unleashed upon us way too soon.

Best to Chloe; have no doubt this talented actress will have a new project lined up in no time. (And kudos to her for the way she dealt with the horrendous comments she had to endure from Carly fans. Ridiculous…)

Totally agree. I’m so over Carly and Sonny

Love chloe, great actress
She makes her character believable. Good luck. Thank you chloe.

Chloe is a great actress, but Nelle is a pointless character and maybe she can be put in Ferncliff where she belongs.

Yes she’s the one that belongs in Ferncliff not worried about her sticking it to Carly good riddance Nelle I sure won’t miss you

Thank God. May they find the blanket and cologne. At the same time Ava gets caught and sent to prison. Bye bye

I know Jason and Sam were just talking about the cologne yesterday please find it. And Nelle knows now Joselyn gave it to Oscar. Chase smelled it too. I like Nelle and think she’s doing a great job. I hate to see her go. Yes they are dragging this storyline out but watching her and Carly go at it I like it. But I do want her to get busted for framing Carly.

Why would you want that, Rose? Carly is FINALLY getting payback for all the disgusting things she’s done to others. And then there’s AJ. For him alone I’m thrilled that Nell set her up.

I’m loving Carly locked up. It’s where I enjoy her most.

It takes Sonny, the family pet Jason,Sam,and that annoying Spinelli who ( should have been killed off years ago)to bring down little Nelle..I love Nelle..but its clear she is leaving..hope Spinelli is lost for good in the fallout

Say it ain’t so. Love Spinelli!

I’m wondering if Oscar having that cologne will find himself in danger as a result. So maybe in trying to get that cologne Nelle ends up hurting Oscar and that leads to her downfall.

Oh happy day good bye Nelle.

I wish there was some way that the soaps could release their talent to do outside projects and then come back into the fold. We see a lot of good talent get their training on soaps and then want to try other things. Nothing prepares you for an acting career like the soaps. Those actors who start on soaps have more going for them then the pampered movie stars do.

I will miss Chole, as I feel she is extremely talented. I wasn’t wild about Nelle until recently when they added the wrinkle that Chase knew her from her days in New England and FL. That started to get me interested in her…probably because I thought she finally wasn’t pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes and would get her comeuppance. Hope she still does.

Maybe she’ll come back some day.

Good luck, Chole!

Chloe is a smart and talented actress. She will be just fine, GH will not be around in 2 years, I smell a cancellation coming.

Unfortunately I agree…regarding cancellation. Soap actors are bailing out one by one. Even here, on this site, Michael has decided to expand his horizon beyond soaps.

Liked the actress at first. Reminded me of a young Diane Lane. But the character of Nelle has long outlived her usefulness. So now the only question is, does she:

1) Go to prison for drowning her ex.
2) Die in childbirth.
3) Get murdered (she has certainly pissed off enough people to make that likely)

She kind of resembles a young Michelle Philips from the Mamas and The Papas

Very true, Jimh…I also see shades of a young Kathleen Turner, both in terms of looks and talent! Quite frankly, Chloe is too beautiful and skilled in her craft to be wasting even one more minute on this fourth-rated, sinking ship of a show…although more’s the pity for the viewers, since Nelle and her antics were rare bright spots on this abysmal soap! At any rate, best of luck to her…I’m sure we will be seeing big things happen for this lovely young lady!

im watching the old soap The Doctors…Kathleen Turner’s first acting job was on that show at the age of 23 and i watched her then when the show originally aired-she doesnt appear yet until the 1977 episodes air..and she does look like Chloe…

It’s true, Jimh! I was just looking at some vintage snaps of Kathleen Turner at the beginning of her Hollywood career, and the resemblance is quite remarkable! I could totally envision Chloe in a role ala “Body Heat!”

P…S. I still maintain that Chloe would have been a much better choice for the role of Val Spencer…..seeing what a great hellion this actress portrayed, she could have made that character more than simply a one-note adulterer who slept with her cousin’s husband then slipped into oblivion!

I have read:
1 She dies in childbirth.
2)She loses her baby, steals Baby James, and sells it to Brad and Lucas.
3)She sells her baby to Brad and Lucas, having been inseminated by one of them, with Brad’s help.

I also wonder if Nelle will be murdered because i think it’s been awhile since GH has had a good murder mystery.Plus half or even most of Port Charles may have motive for wanting Nelle dead before it’s all said and done.

It’s about time–for her, I mean. Surely she can get more rewarding roles.

Yea, the storyline is so good and so are the actors. Sorry to see her go it would’ve been great to see her turn her life around!

Great actor! I wish her the best in years to come. Actually, I will miss her!

Chloe Lanier is a very talented actress.
She is young and it is in her best interest to get out, now.
There will be opportunities for her and I wish her the best.

I’m surprised that there is not a greater turnover every year.
Being an actor on a soap opera is not as it once was.
The younger get their resumes experience from a soap and they should leave by 2 years time.
And- the younger is seen to be leaving and that is a good thing for them.
and some hang on and appear once every blue moon.

It’s not like the old days, su. Soaps were a lifelong thing for many actors back in the day. They loved what they were doing and got paid for doing it; probably decent salaries for the time and steady employment.

Soaps actors ARE leaving more frequently now. There’s not the same stability there once was (though ironically the genre is much more respected now by film actors and directors, etc) and their jobs are not as secure. They’re probably guaranteed less hours, less pay and are often taken off contract. So, on all the remaining soaps we see more and more leaving. Not a good sign for the longevity of the remaining four. Sad for those of us who have been watching for decades. It’s a format never to be repeated.

hi rebecca..
I do feel bad for the ol’timer fans losing their favourite loved characters.
As for me-
I like new and I like change to keep thing interesting and fresh.

The soaps used to be money makers and paid out well with perks; Not so now.
And yes, I too believe others will soon be out the door seeking carers elsewhere where they can make good money.

I had read.. that the soap actors that are not under contract get paid by their scenes/the scenes they are in.
They have a base pay ehh but it comes to down to how many scenes they in as the money they take home and that is not big dollars.

hey, su…
it’s like any show; imagine Lucifer without Tom Ellis! Ray Donovan without Liev Schreiber! Now imagine these shows were on for decades and you were watching it for years and suddenly the show continues but Tom or Liev left. You know what I mean; we not only like the show but the characters played by the actors we get familiar with.

On the other hand, me, personally? I don’t mind new characters on the soaps. Just hate to see them replace the vets. I WISH the budget was big enough that they didn’t have to lose some to gain some. And, not all fans, as you know, like all the characters who ARE vets! I can’t stand Carly and, I have to “take cover” for this one…I don’t miss “Laura” one bit. I liked her back in the day but she’s not who I tune in for. And I’ve always liked Kevin and find him much more interesting without her. He was fun when he was with Lucy years ago. And I’m enjoying him now, without Laura.

The thing about soaps is that while, as you say, it’s good to keep them “interesting and fresh” (I would think most of us would agree) if they continually get rid of the established characters to bring on new characters than they’re no longer our soaps. The essence of daytime soaps is continuity…of people, families, friends, relationships. If you start losing all the history, all the familiar faces, characters… it’s no longer the same show.

As far as new/younger characters, they should at least be tied to the core families to continue the legacy of these older characters/families. Not sure if that matters much these days because I’d be shocked if there will be future generations to come. The way the soap world is going they’ll all be gone soon enough.

Salaries? The actors aren’t hurting. I looked them up too. From what I read, “A supporting actor or actress just starting out in a soap opera can make around $400 per episode. This is for a potentially recurring role, with only a few lines. An unknown soap actor with more lines and a more important role in the day’s episode may make around $700.” The article went on to state that soap-opera actors with five to 10 years’ experience make at least $1,500 per episode, but because they don’t work five days a week or every month per year the annual salaries vary. But a seasoned actor working two episodes per week all year can make $150,000 to $300,000 annually. And up from there… The “average” overall annual salary is $57,100. Wow! The “average” is quite different than the vets with contracts who get regular work but I guess compared to film work or maybe prime time it’s not that much but the “regulars” seem to make quite the comfortable living.

Just sad that the genre is on its way out. In a world (and life) that’s ever-changing there was always the soap! 😉

hi rebecca,,
thanks for info on how the wades are spread out, good to know..

Thing is- some people love the characters that others can’t tolerate, so Carly and Sonny are upfront, some love it other not.
hahaa there is no winning!
the writers just write and they don’t take into consideration my feeling of certain characters lol ..

Hi Su; you’re welcome. I usually check several sources for accuracy (can’t always rely on one site) but I didn’t on the above numbers so who knows if it’s so; particularly with the budgets the way they are today. But then again, could be why they’re letting vets go and hiring new actors with a much lower pay scale.

And they DO listen to viewers; if there is enough of us with one voice. Look what happened with Lucifer! As for soaps, not that long ago Rebecca Herbst (Liz) was let go but fan outcry brought her back. And I hear Genie’s on her way. I’m with you on her; not my favorite so if she’s back great, if not, I’m okay with that, too. If she is I just hope they’re serious about giving her an interesting story because she hasn’t been in one in forever. They need to “pep” her up! I find her like a warm, baked cookie. Comforting and sweet, but not exciting! 😉

Dang, another bites the dust! Can’t stand the character, but love the actress. Wishing her much success!

She is a talent and will prevail. I would assume the roles will be reversed and Nelle will end up in the nut house and Carly will be released. Nelle would then be off camera in case the actress ever wants to return.

She’s an incredible actress. She reaaaaaaally made me hate Nelle. I wish her well. I will not miss Nelle, though. Her story has run its course. Best of luck to you, Chloe! I did enjoy your work thoroughly! I look forward to seeing more… just… not Nelle.

Ferncliff would be the perfect place for her! Mary Pat would have a field day!!

I will be thrilled to see the character of Nelle go; as long as the baby is alright. I hope they kill her off after the baby is born.

She was very good in the role. But the character was not consistent.. She came in looking for revenge, then started to become remorseful, then was presented to be a full out murdering psycho. The character had potential to be long running and important but then the writers got lazy.

Mike, really agree with everything you had to say, except the very last word. I would have said CRAZY!

I think she will finally go to jail for murder

Chloe is a very talented actress and master of her craft. I was afraid she’d spread her wings soon. Much like Bryan Craig, she will soar.

She should of been gone long ago!! Next Peter please.
Bring Lexi back, who actually has a core family in PC and had the best story going with Ashley Jones. GH needs to bring them both back…we want to see Sonny in scenes with Parker & Kristina. He’s never met Parker!

Please show Peter where the parking lot is, and have him drive far away from the studio! What a lousy actor/character.

Sorry Mary, never cared for Lexi/Krissy, so snippy and snotty, and I like the actress that plays Parker, but certainly not as a mother/lover to Kristina.

What does it mean when GH is on summer hiatus? I know they’re all original shows all through the summer. To win so the question I think she is a fantastic actress and I think she’s wasted on GH. Besides the character is so ugly in heart I will be happy to see her exit.

Summer hiatus means they are not taping for the month of July. They prepare for this by having fewer off days in the spring months. At the end of this week, they’ll probably have about 7 weeks of shows filmed. When they return to filming, they’ll be about 3 weeks ahead of air date.

Typically sometime in mid August, you’ll notice changes in hair styles as performers make adjustments in their off time. For example, Billy Miller’s hair changed from scene to scene last August depending on whether they filmed the scenes in late June or early August.

I think she is a fabulous actress. I hope her story ends for now in Ferncliff, leaving the door open for a visit. I’m no fan of long drawn out Nelle stories. But she is great and so she could add some spice now and then like Heather Webber. Good Luck to Chloe in all her endeavors.

I’m wondering if and when Nelle figures out everyone is onto her she fakes her death by making it look like she was murdered and then disappears. That way only way the viewers might only know for awhile that she’s really alive.Plus has Chloe Lanier said she would never return to GH?

NO!!! This can’t be happening. I love watching Nelle slither her way into manipulating every situation. She is fun to watch. I am going to miss her and the actress was a powerhouse from the moment she started on the show. I will miss her.

Seems to me that her dying (in childbirth or murdered just after) was really the only outcome this story could go after all the things she’s done. There’s no real coming back from putting the “Sainted Carly” in Ferncliff. Frankly, I’m surprised she’s lasted this long. I am glad, however, that the show didn’t go for a baby switch with Maxie and Nelle’s babies. I’ve always hated those stories. But I think everyone is right that she will somehow deliver the baby and pass it on to Lucas and Brad. It seems like a good way to keep “bad Brad” current and set Lucas up for an eventual discovery of just whose child he’s raising. Although, I’m also not expecting the child to really be Michael’s. I like the fan spec of somehow it’s Brad’s.

This has been an unusually busy spring for me so I’ve missed much of the story, unfortunately, but, what I’ve been able to catch here and there, Nelle gave it to Carly as good as Carly has given it others over the past 20+ years. She was a worthy foe and will be missed. And the reason that Nelle has gotten so many fans’ goats is the simple fact that Chloe is stupendous in the role. She will go far and do very well for herself.

Superb actress. Terrible role. She deserves better. Good for her!

Chloe is a great actress and did a fantastic job with Nelle. Unfortunately, Nelle was written deep into a corner, never to be redeemed. She is great at playing evil. I hope that she does well on future endeavors. Best of luck to her.
Now, if she could only take #ParkingLotPete #WhineyHiney with her, I would be able to start watching our beloved show again. I have never seen such disdain for an actor or a character…

I want to see Nelle go on trial for the murder of her ex-boyfriend and for setting up Carly. I want Michael to leave her at the altar. She deserves to sit in Fernclif for a long time. But if Chloe is leaving quickly this all may not happen.

Let her have a healthy baby… Then get caught red handed for all her dirty deeds
& get her just rewards. GOODBYE ‼️

Never really cared about this character until she started her antics toward Carly, which were entertaining. We need a crazy, bad girl on GH and she did it.

Good riddance..fans have begged for hervto leave as soon as she got there! Giving her a front burner story while letting Genie go & not bringing back Lexi & Ashley was despicable!! She’s a pet of Franks so she gets the story…boring as hell. Genie is a staple of GH & deserved a much better story than she’s had. Lexi & Ashley brought a new story to soaps…a female/female May December romance which is so realistic & was helping so many fans in the same situation. Their chemistry is the best between any other couple. Amazing, yet where are they…mmm must not be pets of Frank even though Lexi got the Emmy for this phenomenal, loving storyline!!
So it’s about time no more Nelle

Nelle was ‘fried’ from the onset…..which is a pity, really. Chloe is an exceptional actress; credible and effective—-just look at the waterfall of tears ( always at the ready) she could conjure up. LOL.
I do like Nelle for some twisted reason which I, myself, do not even know. I am sad to see her go.
I said this on another thread…..I think Chloe will probably end up in Ferncliff, in Carly’s place ( ugh) ….OR, she will die in childbirth.
Perhaps, as a consequence, there may be some drama including the baby, Lucas and Brad? A mix-up?
Suddenly Michael has turned into Machiavelli? Sooo off the mark. To me, he is on the same dais as Devon ( Y&R)—no substance. Not believable as a tough guy; a schemer; an entrepreneur; a lover…..now a father? Whoa!!

First i wish Chloe Lanier all the best in whatever she does next and after winning the Emmy maybe she wants to leave while on top in a way.As for Nelle, i do wonder if she will be killed off either by someone murdering her or she dies accidentally but there’s a cover up.So that way even dead Nelle is causing trouble and her departure leads to story for the other characters

I wish these “so called” fans of GH would just stop. GH is great. You can’t have it your way all the time.

I do wish Chloe Lanier well. She made you hate Nelle. The way she can play so innocent and in the same scene, she’s a bitch. I may not agree with all of the stories on the show now but I’m not going to bash the show. All writers are different and it takes time to tell a story and if that story isn’t working, you just can’t drop it. It has to play out. Look at B & B. The same stories over and over and over again. Steffy is doing the same thing that Brooke did/does…And Brooke had the nerve to say that what Steffy did was disgusting….She slept with the Father, two sons, daughters husband and has had more children with different men, yet B & B continues to get praised for being such a good show. The same with Y & R…how many times will Victor not get his. He still comes out on top. I’m a fan of GH and will continue to be a fan of GH. I’m not leaving this show just because I may not agree with all of the stories.

Finally!!!!

I’m not sad to see the character off the canvas. But we all know GH; the crazies always rear their ugly heads. Best wishes for a successful future for this talented actress.

Ms. Lanier is brilliant master as Nell. Although I get that some viewers do not like the character’s wickedness, I do NOT understand taking to social media and attacking her on a personal level….And these same viewers before they know it, will be crying for Ms. Lanier and Nell Benson…Given the “format” of most villain characters on soap operas, she has managed to break from the industry standard and take it to a whole new level

luke comes back to save the day….

Played her part well. Got her haters, but that was the story. Wish her luck in the future. People, Its A Soap.
Why would you destroy some great acting. If she was a snooze, you all would complain. Let it go!
Good luck

Nell sure played the bad girl very well, she was ruthless at the end of her court case did she end up in jail or the hosp,I wish her good luck in what comes next

I hope the guy gay couple give the baby back to muchael,

great actress. hated her character- glad to see her go. More Lucy please. Lucas also needs a new man and I’m soooo excited that Brit is back!!

Breaking News

George Cheeks, CBS President & CEO, on Timeline to Launch New Daytime Drama, ‘The Gates’: “We’re So Focused on Getting it Right”

March 2024 will be remembered in the TV and soap world when the news broke that CBS is prepping a brand new daytime drama. Many had thought a major network would never bring a new daytime soap into the world, given that the last time it was attempted was 25 years ago when the now defunct Passions bowed on NBC.

However, The Gates is definitely in development and moving forward with some major players associated with it including: Michele Val Jean as The Gates writer, showrunner and one of its executive producers, and Sheila Ducksworth from NAACP Venture

Now, for the first time since its announcement, George Cheeks, the president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+, spoke on the project that will feature a Black family as its central focus who live in a wealthy gated community.

Speaking with Vulture, and when asked if The Gates is really something that truly has a chance of getting on the air, Cheeks clarified, “It’s super real. And just to give you a little bit of the backstory,  when we hired Sheila Ducksworth to run the NAACP Venture, she and I had multiple meetings talking about what different genres she was going to lean into, and we talked a lot about daytime.”

Cheeks added, “One of the things that the data made very clear to both of us is that daytime soap operas over index with Black women, and yet when you look at soap operas, it’s usually sort of a white-led family with supporting characters that reflect more of our society. So we just thought, wouldn’t it be interesting to flip that and make the core anchor family a Black family, and then make the other characters reflect more the broader scope of society?”

The CEO gave props to Michele Val Jean,  and how Ducksworth came to the table with the former B&B and GH writer. “She found this great writer, Michele Val Jean, who’s been in the soap opera space for 30 years. She came up with a pitch, and we loved it,” shares Cheeks. “We brought Procter & Gamble into it as well, because if there were going to be (product) integrations, we could do it more holistically and organically. All of that is to say, we did a lot of work on the front end to put this together. So while yes, it’s development, it’s accelerated development.”

When prodded on the timeline of when The Gates could come to full fruition, Gates related, “The actual timeline and when we’re going to do it is still uncertain, because we want to get this right. I mean, there hasn’t been a new soap opera launch since I can’t even begin to tell you when. But we have great success with Bold and the Beautiful and Young and the Restless, and so we think we’re the right folks to be launching a new soap. I wish I could tell you more about exact timing, but we’re so focused on getting it right, and that will dictate when we’re ready to launch it.”

The CBS exec also shared that whether The Gates will wind up an hour soap or half-hour is not yet determined, but that it is being developed as an hour show.

So, after reading what George Cheeks, the CBS President & CEO had to say about ‘The Gates’, are you even more excited for what looks to the first new network soap in 25 years? Comment below.
