Jen Ray On Making Her GH Debut As Chelsea: “I Can’t Thank Everyone In Port Charles For Helping A Little Girl Dreaming Of Being On Her ‘Story’ Actually Come True!”

There are more psychic powers heading into Port Charles, and this psychic could be carrying an important message for Franco (Roger Howarth).

General Hospital viewers will soon see former sitcom star, Jen Ray (she played neighbor Nancy Donahue most recently on The Middle) in her first daytime drama role as Chelsea Lambas.

On recent episodes of GH, viewers also saw another psychic hit town, Sibley Gamble (Veronica Cartwright), who Ava (Maura West) enlisted so that she could reconnect her with her deceased daughter, Kiki, and we all saw how Gamble’s skill rated.

Ray was originally slated to first appear on the Friday, July 26th episode of the ABC soap, prior to yesterday’s national preemption of the series for the Muller testimony.  ABC executive Nathan Varni, took to Twitter to welcome Jen to GH and to tease: “What does Chelsea see in Franc0’s future?”

But no one was more excited about Jen joining the cast of General Hospital, then Ray herself, when she posted on her Instagram her true love for this iconic soap!  The actress enthused: “I cannot thank everyone in Port Charles for helping a little girl dreaming of being on her ‘story’ actually come true! And a special thank you to Nathan Varni, Frank Valentini, and Mark Teschner! Aw… so fun!”

Jen had also appeared on numerous primetime series including: Big Love, True Blood, The New Normal, Gilmore Girls, and more.

What message do you think Chelsea will bring to Franco, that could kick-off a new story for him?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I’m so happy for her, as a gh fan I know I would loose my mind if I got a chance to visit Port Charles.

Getting bored with GH…once the Nell/Micheal baby story wraps i mightbe done…the show feels like the writers just write as they go along with nothing really plan ahead…still watching Days for now…Nell will most likely escapes and kills Shiloh with someone else blamed for the crime!

I like the Scorpios working together. Like Lulu’s new BF. Didnt care for DULLte! If Heather can come and go, so can Nell. I like your theory that she will kill Shiloh and pin it on someone else.

Hi, Jimmy…
Long time, my friend. I’m with you—boring with a big, fat B. Plus, this flirtation with the netherworld is so passe’ and stale….as much as baby switching.
I think the Wiley/Jonah story is climaxing. Now that Nell knows what’s going down with Shiloh, she will try her mightiest to protect her baby. Will she tell Michael? Will he believe her? Here we go again with DNA tests up and down the East coast—more switcheroos?
PS….Big OOPS —especially; not expecially—shiver-me-timbers—stupid typos….Stay well, Jimmy.❤️

Never heard of her. Never watched “The Middle”. Of all the topics in the world a writer can introduce, we are dealt the psychic card? No, thank you.
I hope these Lalaland penners are responsible enough to show the lighter side of the supernatural. Some people believe in this stuff—-we would not want to see someone mimicking Sibley in reality…..expecially those who are not all ‘there’—-
Getting a bit ridiculously mundane—locks on fake bridges–Sonny, the powerful, helpless in finishing Shiloh off–Dante overpowering a guard—etc.
Oh, wait….is Scorpio a lawyer? And, how is a lawman soooo chummy with a lawless mafioso?
Where have all the soaps gone!?!? Sigh!!

Robert Scorpio having a law degree and being suddenly able to become the DA of Port Charles is a recent rewrite which has absolutely no connection to any of the character’s established history going back to the Ice Princess days.

His ability to work with Sonny is well within character though. Not that Robert is a big fan of the mob obviously, but Robert & Sonny have several people in common (Robin, Luke, and Dante, for example) and they both have a long standing hatred of the Jerome family. So that’s enough to bond over, right?

My dear Celia. I miss you! Jen Ray had a bit part on “The Middle.” She was good. I see her playing the same character. Kind of quirky and overwhelming but means well. TV Psychics were real popular in the 80’s. I think this new character will be in PC just to introduce a new story for Franco. I hope its tongue in cheek like these psychics and palm readers should be taken.

As far as Robert being a lawyer, yeah, it came out of nowhere BUT he has been off screen, on and off for years, so I could believe him going back to school and choosing to further his education. It was a surprise but a welcomed one since him and Mac are on screen together. Plus, how often are we surprised this day and age?

Much love, Timmm!

@Timmm….When you consider how much wacky revisionist history about our beloved GH characters has already been conjured out of thin air by recent regimes, giving Robert a JD is hardly earth shattering! It’s certainly not unheard of for cops/government agents to go on to law school, especially after their “action days” have been exhausted! Quite frankly, having DA Scorpio at the helm in Port Charles can only enhance the law profession’s sorry local reputation with legal hacks like Scottie and Alexis operating in their courtrooms. Plus, it’s sooo nice to have Robert back in town for more than five minutes at a time…I’m actually looking forward to his displaying his famously quick, acerbic wit when he presents his cases!

Shay, nice to hear from you! Yes, Robert is in a position now to be relevant and have some type of grip on the wacky hooligans in PC! Dont you love the way he says Dante’s name? On Thursdays episode Sonny ask about his son and Robert called him DANte using his everlasting, delicious Australian accent!

It’s so nice to be heard by you and be the recipient of your lovely reply, too, Timmm! I’ve missed our “conversations,” my friend! And I LOVE the way Scorpio says everything in that sexy Aussie accent of his! (Not to mention his deliciously sarcastic manner of expressing his opinion, always with a naughty glint in those sparkling blue eyes! Lol…) No matter in what future situations GH places the man, I am looking forward to more of his inimitable charm and cheek to save the day! By the way, here’s a possible scenario with highly comedic overtones: I know you don’t share my enjoyment of the beloved Dr. O, but I think it would be an absolute laugh riot if Robert and she were trapped together in a tense situation and it looked (albeit ever so temporarily…) as though they might not survive, which moves Liesl to spill her guts to him like a condemned woman looking to make her peace before meeting her Maker with a mind-blowing confession-session between herself and former WSB nemesis agent Scorpio. Can you just imagine all the secrets that crazy lady harbors regarding their many mutual “acquaintances?” She could probably fill-in-the-blanks of all of Robert’s unanswered questions from the past!!! Perhaps once they escaped their peril, Obrecht could even develop an unrequited attraction for the heroic Scorpio (whose clever actions bring them to safety) since she’s so into that sort of obsession for unattainable men. Would be a hoot to see how the usually cool and unflappable Robert would handle such unwanted O-doration with his trademark aplomb!!!! What say you, Timmmbo? Later….Meow!

Shayster, I did enjoy Lisel’s dip in the PC harbor. I can take her in small doses. My problem with her and Robert is that she held his daughter captive and NOTHING could change how I feel about someone who would do that. But its a soap, we love drama! Robert and Lisel would have some amazing scenes together. Robert needs a new love. Who would you suggest? Olivia? I know her and Ned are together but he is not on much. Liv is a pain in the A.. BUT I can see her street wise wit and Robert’s mega charm meshing well. Bye for now Feline Cyber Kitty!

And Dr. O. also put Robert in a coma for over a year! Can’t forget that nagging little detail, Timmm! What I was suggesting was a psychotically one-sided attraction for Liesl to develop for Scorpio, sort of like the one she long harbored toward Faison, but with a total lack of reciprocal action from Robert…in no way, shape or form would it be a mutual thing! Scorpio ain’t insane!…LOL. Perhaps he could also be initially oblivious to her deeply-concealed affections….as she makes her amorous moves in the form of a “secret admirer???” Given we’re talking about Obrecht here, possibilities for her trademark unhinged, stealth behavior are utterly delicious…and full of comedic potential. As for Liv and Robert? She was crushing on “Robbie” awhile back, and he didn’t seem all that interested in her obvious advances. Me thinks that he still wants his former love, Anna, but if his desire to reunite with her ultimately fails, then maybe Laura will eventually find her way to him. She seems very ambivalent in her feelings for Kevin at the moment, and commiserating over lost relationships with old friend Scorpio could just spark a wonderful new romance between them! Failing that, I cannot think of anyone suitable for the dashing Robert!!! However, as long as he steers clear of those man-crazy “alleycats,” Ava and Alexis, then I’ll be content! Later, Timmmbo!

Hey, Shaybelle,
I’m glad to see that the moniker, Timmmbo, with which I baptized Timmm, is still in use after five years.
I guess it stuck!! LOL.
I must say that I appreciate Robert Scorpio more than I do Colin on Y&R—-what a character– real foible.
Keep on writing, guys….truly enjoying your exchanges!!

Oh, yes, you did coin that affectionate nickname, CeeCeeGirl! (Credit given where credit is due!) I also added the title “Sir” to your fond moniker for special occasions, since Timmm is such a gallant gentleman to the ladies! By the way, speaking of that all-too-rare form of male species, I’m glad that you have finally experienced the pleasure of the real Robert Scorpio…those of us who knew him from the very beginning were always susceptible to his obvious myriad charms! Incidentally, since you are rooting for the breakup of Anna and Finn, are you hoping for a romantic redux of the former WSB superspy coupling of Scorpio and Devane??? I know Anna has been recalcitrant to the idea so far, but what say you? And if not a reunion for these two favorite legacy players, how about Laura and Robert?? They have so much shared history, I could definitely go for that, especially given her struggles with Kevin…

I am not familiar with Robert’s and Anna’s interaction as lovers—just as friends now– however, I do sense that tacit, under the surface tension. I would welcome a lovers’ reunion and its exploration between the two.
I thought, from the very beginning, that Kevin and Laura did not mesh for me.
Don’t get me wrong—-Genie/ Laura is one of my faves—love her—I wish she would come back to Y&R as Genevieve, where she had, indeed, been married to Colin ( Tristan), the scalawag. Not a good match.
Kevin is soooo sexy!! As beautiful as Laura is; she does not have that femme fatale, innate sexiness which cannot be manufactured. One either has it, or doesn’t. It’s like trying to assume a sensual walk—the hips need to sway naturally, effortlessly—can’t force it!! Jude’s words. LOL. Men know!! Ha!!
Kevin needs killer Prima Donna, Ava!! And, Laura needs a Luke-type. How about Julian? HaHa!!
Ciao, bella.
PS. Did you know that Maura West bore five children? I would die!! I tell my mother all the time. There are six of us!! To be admired!!

@CeeCee….To the best of my recollection, there is a magnificently romantic beach scene with Anna and Robert to the strains of “All In Love Is Fair.” It happened a long time ago, but was one of those all-time great moments from GH past. If you can locate it online, do take a gander….it’s memorable, to say the least! As for Laura??? No matter how much trauma and tribulation she has suffered, she remains Port Charles’ sweetheart, their Doris Day, so to speak….forever wholesome with a smile that lights up a room…which makes her eminently appealing, but in no way overtly sexy…so be it. She’s a down-to-earth mother and daughter figure who never quite left behind her ingenue image…which is fine for those of us who love her just the way she is! Perhaps her “good girl” was a tad mismatched with the oft-dark Kevin, yet after his tart-fested fascination with Lucy, it was a refreshing change of pace!!! I was definitely rooting for them to make it as a couple, although, alas, “Ryan” had other plans…Perhaps Scorpio and Laura will be able to succeed where Mr. and Mrs. Collins could not….I can rather picture them as a modern-day “Nick and Nora Charles,” failing any attempts to reunite Anna and Robert. (In terms of a Julian hookup for her??? Ummm….no, just no! She may have done the “bad boy” thing with Luke, but that was a once in a lifetime occurrence, which she barely survived!) Incidentally, I do get what you mean about “the walk!” My nickname in college was “Swivel Hips,” and I swear it had nothing to do with a bad reputation…just my trademark sashay as I made my way across campus like the world was my fashion runway! Lol…And speaking of hips, some women are simply blessed with ones well-equipped for birthing, others not so much! (Like apparently Maura and your mom were, as well as the Duchess of Cambridge! I know she suffers from terrible morning sickness during pregnancy, but she has an incredible knack for delivering her offspring with ease, then appearing a mere few hours later on the hospital steps in high heels and glossy royal style, all whilst balancing her latest bundle of joy. Impressive, to say the least!)

Hi, Timmmy,
WOW!! Soooo good to “see” you here…yeah—I miss you, too….oh, them good ole days!! LOL…
I think I still hold ‘little girl fears’ of ghouls and ghosts—I was the only kid who was not too fond of Halloween. HaHa…
So, as you can imagine, my brothers never miss an opportunity to spook me—to this day…
I think you’re right—I suppose the PTB have exhausted A to Z explaining Franco’s presence at this point. So far, I see him as Lizzie’s fifth limb–an attachment.
I am more interested in Dev ( Devlin?), Ashton Arbab…..
This presents a very confusing story—how is it that a Turkish, street-urchin speaks perfect English? There’s more to him than is ‘visible’—plus, this character was introduced to keep Sonny viable and relevant—just as Franco—just -as Carly.
Speaking of the latter—Why can’t a baby, on soaps, ever be born without drama? Especially Carly’s kids. Think about it—not one of them had a smooth life—and so young. It’s a sore subject ….but, enough is enough!!
I’ll take your word about Jen Ray—she does seem to appear spirited—Ha!! Pardon the double entendre, LOL….
Thank you for replying, my love….soon❤️

BOO! Just kidding. Not a fan of Halloween either. Well, the candy aspect is cool.

I think Dev is Sonny and Brenda’s boy. Just a gut feeling. Handsome kid and he can act.

Babies on soaps=Drama!

Much love!

I agree, T–Dev is a heartbreaker; and, only sixteen.
I like that idea—Dev’s parentage…..would make for a surprisingly searing plot—great irony, if that should happen to be the case!! Kisses❤️

Easy peasy, CeeCeeGirl! Dev is the WSB’s latest asset protege’ via Dante…either that, or he’s yet another Cassadine plant…remember, Helena had her own “nursery school” on the island. That woman gave a whole new meaning to the term “education!!!” Okay, just kidding…well, maybe! He could also have a link to Jax (and of course, brother Jerry!!!) That would seem more plausible given that Dev’s presence is currently Sonny-centric.

Sounds good, Shaybelle—as usual, your ideas, amongst many others ( our fellow posters, thst is), are en pointe. ….But, but….I hope not!! I want Dev to be one of the good guys. I like him!! He looks so much like Jude’s nephew–uncanny!!
I like Timmm’s proposition–Sonny’s and Brenda’s ( looked her up) son—-however, without a criminally charged brain. We shall see—I welcome any relevant, intriguing and INTELLIGENT plot.
❤️

But do we REALLY need yet another Sonny-spawned addition to Port Charles, CeeCeeGirl??? (Rhetorical question….) I’m still waiting for the lady lawyer from Dimples’ one-night stand on “The Bad Ship LuLuPop” to show up with his umpteenth illegitimate issue in tow….

Here’s my theory on Dev….

Obviously he’s related to somebody in Port Charles. Because when was the last time a newbie showed up who wasn’t related to somebody?? (Yeah Sasha’s relation to Nina was fake, but that don’t mean her real family ties won’t be revealed eventually)

Turkey is more or less in the same region of the planet as Afghanistan. A few countries in between, but it’s entirely possible that a Navy SEAL like Drew or a mercenary dirtbag like Hank “Shiloh” Archer might have spent some recreational time in Turkey. Dev is the appropriate age to have been conceived in the time period that both of them were in the area.

Drew may or may not be on his way out of town, and Shiloh is definitely on his way to Hell, but that doesn’t mean Dev can’t be one of their kids.

Of course this regime will then force him together with poor Joss, just like they forced Whiney Heiny on Maxie after his brother got killed. Or put Drew with Sam as a substitute for Jason, for that matter (even though it wasn’t written that way at a time). Hell, you could even go back to the days when Keesha Ward ended up with AJ after he scrambled Jason’s brains against a tree, and Jason didn’t want his relationship with Keesha (or anybody else, really)

This of course all assumes he’s Drew’s kid. If he’s Shiloh’s kid, that would be a bad move, because once Shiloh is dead and in Hell, he needs a living heir up there on Earth even LESS than Faison did!

As long as Dev is not another Sonny-issued spawn….it’s about time Port Charles’ self-appointed “King of Reproduction” is dethroned!

hi Shay..
Sonny is very potent! lol he is the seeding dude..

Dev, hmm, don’t think he’s Sonny’s-
Sometime a cigar is just a cigar.
but- Dev is a Morgan and or Dante step-in.
Sonny needs to have a son(s)and Dev seems more like Sonny than Michael..
aha Sonny got himself a little me.

Absolutely, Su! Sonny is indeed GH’s resident Energizer Bunny of Procreation! I cannot imagine he will ever run out of “seeds” to repopulate the soap …he’s the Port Charles version of Victor Newman, who himself just keeps “going and going” much to the delight(?)—or is it chagrin?-of many a Y&R femme. I guess every soap needs one….Lol.

Hmmmm….Lost seed–blown in the wind? Amazingly, Sonny’s miniature “anatomy” still holds life—-pardon the pun. We, younger women, should all be that lucky in thirty years!!
What a man, what a man, what a man!!
Luv-ya, SusieQ.❤️

Heeey Satan..
I’m not overthinking this one, about Dev..
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar..

Thing is- if, Dev is a lost seed of whoever it’s just going to make my brain bleed from stupid 🙂

Afghanistan is a Eurasian country….not in the same region as Turkey which is closer to Greece and Italy than it is to Afghanistan.
There is the possibility that Oscar and Dev are half brothers.
The flash-drive holds the secret.
Yet, I have a case of ennui when it comes to Shiloh—-stupid cat-and-mouse game without substance. He should be castrated and then pulverized, with your blessings, of course…..or should I say, curses?

I still have my doubts that Oscar was Kim’s real son, CeeCee….she’s shown herself to be a total nutter with her latest Drew stunt, so who knows how she came to be in possession of his baby??? Of course, this is another nagging little detail that will probably never be properly examined…particularly if Dr. Zero gets her walking papers any time in the near future following Billy Miller’s exit from the GH canvas…

Hey, again, Shay.
I am all alone today–relaxing in my T and Nike-shorties–What freedom!! The clan is off to Yankee Stadium!!
Anyway….I remember discussing this very topic with Violet, Shay—-we had both read somewhere that Oscar was not Kim’s child. Then, nothing…
She could have tampered with his DNA sample.kit, which soaps are wont to do.
I do believe Tamara is departing. How did you guys endure her as Carly? At least Laura Wright is plausibe as Carly, if not endearing.
Julian? Methinks , ’tis time for him to go, as well……he is also a filler. But, Shay, I’m sorry to say, He is reserved for Alexis while she is being preserved “on ice”. I like Alexis as she is now—It’s written in soapland’s stars that she and Julian would reconnect. Not something I want to relive.
Unless Lady Marmalade “goes” to New Orleans with the tortured shrink!!
❤️

This was brutal to watch.

And with yet another newbie….HO HUM! If GH were so gung-ho on exploring the “psychic angle,” why not via an existing character? One bump on the head or another mishap could easily have rendered someone with the gift of “second sight!” In fact, that would have been a perfect storyline for Liesl after her recent dunking in the drink! Can you just imagine how hilarious Kathleen Gati would have been as a soothsayer??? I can envision her as “Madame Obrecht,” all knowing and seeing medium of the future, past and present! Given her already existing treasure trove of secrets, she would have been an absolute natural for the role!

Oh, how I love Dr. O! She is hilarious. I just wish she got rid of the parking lot hire. I was #TeamRattlesnake

#TeamRattlesnake…Good one, DMRR! If anyone could rid Port Charles of Pete, it should be Liesl!!! As the so-called product of her former, unrequited love obsession’s loins and his (purported babymama and Obrecht arch-enemy) Anna’s womb, that guy shouldn’t have lasted two minutes in Dr. O’s presence….it makes no sense that she continues to takes his very existence in stride.

I agree. I just can’t stand it, the blatant nepotism.

I think he will die. Maybe by Lisel. But when Anna goes after Lisel to kill her and finally get revenge, Alex will appear and admit that Peter was HER son!

If only, Timmm! It’s time for Liesl to again rev up her longstanding need for revengeance over Faison, Anna and Pete! Whilst I certainly don’t wish for the Divine Devane to come to any harm, it would create great drama if Alex were to make a well-timed appearance in order to save her sister’s life by finally revealing the truth that she is the real mother of Faison’s b@$+ard son! When Liesl then redirects her rage towards Alex, she instead kills Peter in the process!!! Alrighty then…works for me!

Agreed, T….I have been singing that song forever—no one heeds my words–sulk and sigh!! LOL.
Alex will probably turn out to be Alex’s?
I know this gets Shay smack in the heart–but, I am fed up with Anna. Love Calamity Alex.
I hope Hayden spoils that untenable, insipid, ,seemingly idylic love-fest between washed-up Anna and multi-character Finn. Hurrah!!
❤️

I thought Hayden and Nicholas were HOT HOT HOT! Finn is a wet paper bag no matter who he is with! We didnt get Luke and Laura, maybe we will get Robert and Anna?

I agree, T. I am not suggesting Finn and Hayden reignite the flame—why, when she can light THE fire with Nikolas? ( who is actually kept prisoner behind the locked door at Windermere) . I am fond of neither Finn nor Nikolas, yet H and N breathed life into soap-lovemaking.
I truly believe that the main reason she is back is to find the right time to introduce Finn to his child.
Easton has been a flop since joining GH—-but, tolerable with Hayden. My problem is Finn and Anna. I guess white on rice makes for a more engrossing and tastier couple. ❤️

I have no issues with Alex…she is what she is, CeeCee!!! I just find it a far more palatable notion that Anna’s sis is the one who actually performed the supine tango with Faison, not to mention, bore his offspring!

BINGO!

Ooops and blow-me-down: should read, Peter is Alex’s son..❤️

Yeeees, Shay….Dr O, the soothsayer with a German accent–what fun!! These writers have no vision–we are stuck with the seemingly youthful, wide-eyed Sam who is so startled and breathless by Shiloh’s presence. Seriously? Wasn’t she in his face just a minute ago?
Then, there’s Lulu—She should have divorced him at time he strayed with Valerie–is it just moi? I feel nothing!! Not connecting eith her, Shaybelle. Evoking no pathos.
Again, I daresay, where is Sonny’s power of the almighty malvivente?
I pooh-pooh on any pretense of psychic power–no such thing. I am a scientist, Shay….and, as such, these phenomena do not hold water–however, I do bow to the manipulation, if you will, of poetic license.
…..which does not mean I am not spooked by all this psychic stuff. My mother, who is a highly educated woman, insists ( has for years) that when she was twelve, her dead uncle came to her. We keep telling her it must have been a very vivid dream—yet, nope; no way can anyone dissuade her from that notion.
And, she does believe some people have extra-terrestrial sight!!
Ciao, cara.

I don’t go in for all that hocus-pocus, new Age-y mystical stuff either, CeeCeeGirl, but I could definitely enjoy Liesl in the form of a wacky medium! That would be right up Kathleen Gati’s dramatically comedic alley…she is such a versatile performer that it confounds me to no end why the showrunners cannot find a suitable storyline starring this gem of an actress who spins the most paltry straw moments she is afforded into dramatic gold!!! Just my imagination alone has concocted so many scene-stealing scenarios for Dr. O: Nightclub-owning chanteuse, best selling author of a roman a clef revealing all about her many past criminal contacts, frustrated romantic temptress suffering an unhinged, clandestine “Fatal Attraction” for Robert Scorpio and even a good twin/bad twin dual role where her effervescent, strudel-baking extraordinaire sis comes to Port Charles to commandeer Kelly’s with her delectable European-style homemade treats! (Or is “she” really just Liesl’s alter-ego? Hmmmm…) As for Lulu, I still say pair her up with Curtis for some “private detecting,” especially since his dimwitted sometimes snooping partner Sam is too far gone on Shiloh to see the forest from the trees!

They need another psychic like I need a hole in my head.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
