General Hospital fans were overjoyed when John J. York (Mac Scorpio) revealed he was back on set and taping all-new episodes of the ABC daytime drama series.

The beloved GH star was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and multiple smoldering myeloma, two blood and bone marrow disorders, back in 2022.  Later, he underwent treatment for the cancer in September of 2023, which took him off the show while he went through a blood stem cell transplant and the recovery.

Now, those who have waited for Mac to finally get to the truth – that Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) is his biological son – may finally get their wish!  Speaking with TV Insider on his imminent return (he is back on-screen this coming Wednesday, June 19th), York shared on what’s about to go down, “Expect the you-know-what to hit the fan and let the dust come down and settle where it will, so get ready.”

York also prepped viewers that he will look a little different when he first seen back in Port Charles, due to his cancer treatments, “My hair grew back nice. I was not sure how my hair would look because I was bald. Now it’s short, like a military cut.”

Speaking on his own health and life, John shared, “With the MDS, if everything goes well with the bone marrow transplant, that should be handled. With the multiple smoldering myeloma, smoldering being the key word, it just kind of stays there in my system. There is a small chance that it could turn into full-blown leukemia at some point, but the goal is for me to die of old age before I die of any kind of blood cancer. I feel fantastic and all the blood tests that I take once a month have all pointed in the direction that things are all going in the right direction, which is really good.”

Are you looking forward to the moment that Mac realizes Cody is his son? What do you think his reaction will be as he has been duped all this time? Happy, as we are, that John is back on-screen on GH? Comment below.

Very much looking forward to Mac’s return and this story finally seeing some movement. Cody seems very directionless at the moment (as do most characters right now) so hopefully this provides some momentum for him.

Please let Mac deal with Jason and Sonny by making their lives miserable. Tired of those breaking the law and getting away with it. Did GH ever hear of the RICO Statute? .

Apparently the current writers have “heard” of the RICO statute, but have absolutely no idea what it is, given the ridiculous idea that NuJagger was able to blackmail Jason into working “undercover” for the FBI, using RICO charges against Carly as a threat. Even though Carly herself was never involved in the “coffee” business, aside from the single meeting with the “Five Families” that she attended when Sonny was presumed dead and Jason was unavailable due to being shot while on the run for being framed for Frodd’s murder.

Anyway, I doubt they’re going to throw Mac right into the “everybody blame Sonny club” that seems to have infected so many long time characters in recent months. It’s more likely that they will finally move forward with him finding out he has a son. We haven’t even seen Mac yet, but it seemed evident today that Cody was already leaning that direction, supposedly “inspired” to do so by Gregory Chase’s recent death.

Super happy Mac is finally back and healthy. I hope that the people in charge of GH now finally see that he has a large fan following. I do not think they realized it before because the character was relegated to coming out of the closet only when there was a Maxi event (baby – Crazy Peter).

Mac is coming back in the most boring way possible – through the front door. I hope we will see Mac more often than once a week. That’s why I wanted a more exciting story for him to jump back into – and this just gives the show the excuse to drag the DNA test on even longer (we will soon be at the 2-year mark in August). While they have been promising to do it soon (I will believe it when I see it) – it looks like the whole situation will be super painful. Which is not something we all want after waiting 2 long years. The fans want them to bond not hate each other for another year and have half with the entire family hating Cody in the meantime. Worse is having the sanctimonious Robert saying “I told you so.” The thing viewers hate most about GH is that this show likes to drag stories out endlessly – (it’s called the GH “Make ’em Wait’) Which is one of the things dragging the show down. No one wants to wait 2 years to find out if a story will resolve or for lovers to be happy.

As for Cody and Mac, a life-and-death situation would have made this much easier on everyone. But obviously, GH is no longer into action-packed or creative storytelling. They’ve proven that recently and gave up an obvious opportunity for a great action/location story – thereby making Mac’s homecoming as boring as possible.
.
I just don’t want to wait forever to see Mac and Cody as father and son and the show will probably lose me (at least for a while) if I have to wait another 6 months to a year to get this story resolved.

Your observation about Mac being more in the background was true for a while. I will point out that he played a key role in Ryan’s ultimate demise.

Once a week would certainly be better than once a month which was how often he appeared (even sometimes under contract).

Yes, the Cody reveal had been dragged out, but part of that is due to York’s availability. John let Frank know his medical situation long before it became public knowledge. GH likely held out for the reveal for a time period that they knew York would be available for a heavy filming period.

Congratulations on your recovery John and welcome back to work!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may have to tune in to see what they have planned for Mac.

So happy to read that JJY is doing well and back to work! I am looking forward to seeing him back as Mac and then for Cody to reveal he’s Mac’s son.

With Mac back, here’s hoping we see more of him AND his MIA brother Robert in the not-too-distant future. It’s been a couple of months since the last Scorpio sighting. Starting to worry about TR.

Now, both Obrecht and Joss are under the thumb of Cullum and Sidwell  (Carlo Rota) for different reasons.

However, what will Cassius (Ryan Paevey) think of the news that his mother is being forced to finish Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) work on Faison’s final project?  Cassius gets very alarmed when Sidwell informs him in the Monday, June 8 “Next on General Hospital” video teaser, that, “Locating Britt is no longer a priority.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Cullum Kidnaps Obrecht as Britt’s Replacement to Finish Faison’s Final Project

Published

WSB director Ross Cullum is truly as despicable villain as they come, and played with steely intensity by Andrew Hawkes. For the double agents latest crime, you need to look no further than the Friday, June 5 cliffhanger of General Hospital, where in the episode’s final moments he sneaks up on an unassuming Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) after hiding in the back seat of her car.

Next, he chloroforms her with his intent clear. He plans on forcing her to finish the last leg of Faison’s final project at Wyndemere, since her daughter Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) left town with Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) in tow to get away from Cullum!

In what led to the kidnapping, Cullum had a terse conversation with his business associate and co-conspirator on the project, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). It is Sidwell who is preoccupied with wanting to bring Marco’s killer to justice (not knowing it’s the man right in front of him!). Sidwell told Cullum if bringing Marco’s killer to justice wasn’t a priority for the WSB director, then why should protecting Cullum be a priority for him?

SIDWELL VS. CULLUM

The two finally put aside their differences as they have to complete Faison’s final project for it will be highly lucrative for them, useful for their mutual gains, and groundbreaking. In order to do that they need a great mind with a scientific background to finish it up and get them to the finish line since Britt as disappeared.

Later, outside of “General Hospital,” Obrecht is headed back to her car after searching Britt’s office for any clues as to the whereabouts of her daughter. But when she got in the car to drive away, that’s when the aforementioned Cullum strikes!

BROOK LYNN GETS ADVICE FROM A FORMER ADULTERESS

In other key developments, after Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) keeps inserting herself into Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) life, all with the seeming pretense to pay back Chase for helping her clear her name at the trial, and standing by her, she brings good news in person about baby Phoebe’s adoption to Alexis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) law office to Chase. Once Brook Lynn heard Chase was on her away over with paperwork, she decided to hightail it out of there for an “emergency” appointment for Deception.

As we come to find out, Brook Lynn meets up with Lucy (Lynn Herring) at the Metro Court pool, She then proceeds to inform Lucy about Willow sniffing around he husband. Lucy says she knows a thing or two about being an adulteress. Brook Lynn wants Lucy to help her send a clear message to Willow to stay away from her husband, or else!

Now below, check out the scenes before Obrecht was kidnapped where she visited Willow, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) and suspects Willow is up to no good.

Then let us know, with Lucy taking Brook Lynn under her wing, what plot do you think the two will come up with against Willow? What do you think will happen to Obrecht? With Lucas also at Wyndemere trying to bait Sidwell into an attempted murder charge, will he winds up thrown in the secret room with Josslyn?
