Jonathan Jackson Addresses Fans on His Return as GH’s Lucky: “Your Persistence and Love Has Certainly Played a Part in All of This”

Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed that General Hospital’s five-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Jonathan Jackson is making a return to the ABC soap opera for the first time since 2015.

Jackson is now set to reprise his role as Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) son, Lucky Spencer.  Shortly after the soap world was abuzz at the news of his imminent arrival back in Port Charles, Jonathan took to his Instagram with his own personal message to his fans.

Jonathan started, “Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I will be returning to General Hospital this summer as Lucky Spencer. Super excited and can’t wait to dig in and see what’s going on in Port Charles. Excited to see Genie Francis, obviously, and so many others.”

“Just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans over the years,” he continued. “Your persistence and love has certainly played a part in all of this. So I just wanted to say thank you. Also, to Frank Valentini (executive producer, General Hospital) and everybody at ABC for welcoming me back. Super excited. So, just sending much love, and I guess, I’ll be seeing you all fairly soon. God bless.”

The actor and musician’s video post was accompanied by the words, “excited for the journey” to continue, and so are we! Lucky was last seen in 2015 when Jackson returned to the soap to be a part of Tony Geary’s final storyline as Luke.  At the time of Lucky’s exit from the canvas he left things on good terms with Elizabeth and the children.

So, now the question is, h0w does Lucky arrive back in Port Charles this summer? Share your theories via the comment section below.

Love Jonathan Jackson he is a wonderful actor. Welcome back to General hospital. Jonathan signed a contract and so happy to see him come back as Lucky Spencer. Now we need Lulu to come back. Please make this happen.

I do not know who Lucky is–

So, he/Jonathan will be just a newbie to me..

I had hoped Morgan/Brian would be the returning actor..

0oo well, it is what it is–

Bryan is back for a day, so it makes me think his return will be like the returns of Courtney/Emily/Georgie for their perspective loved ones. Sonny even spoke about Connie, so maybe she’ll do the same as Bryan. As the article that announced JJ coming back mentioned Bryan (and other familiar faces over the next few months). They talked about Frisco the other day as well.

The last time Craig returned was also a one-day shot (Ava’s hallucination) when Megan Ward also popped in as Connie. I’m sure wardrobe still had that white dress with the blood stain in storage in case they need another Connie ghost appearance.

Interesting. Out of all the names bandied about as possibilities, he was the one I was fairly sure was NOT returning.

Excellent news.

I think a lot of people wanted it to be him but nobody thought it would be as most think/assumed he’s still living in Ireland, but I think he’s back state side at least some of the time, as he’s got this and has been touring some. I’m happy about it either way.

Oh please. He needs a job, and this is obviously all he could get. Nothing wrong with that, but just be honest. He’s an OK actor, but presenting this as anything other than that is disingenuous.

I don’t share everybody’s enthusiasm anyway, because the star of the show is Carly, so everything he does will be tied to her. And that I have no interest in.

I am thrilled that JJ is returning!! He is a terrific actor and it will be great to see Laura having her son back.

In an interview with Genie Francis she stated that she urged him to leave the show because he was so good and didn’t want to see him stuck in daytime where actors are seen as second class citizens and didn’t want that for him.

I really thought he would become a big film star. Maybe his religious beliefs and endeavors derailed that? I highly doubt he holds homophobic beliefs as he was extremely close to Tony Geary.

All in all just great news to have an actor of his caliber back on the show

Not every GH fan loves Lucky.
I find the actor is so whiny and cries way too much. At least he did the last time he was on.

I think his youthful looks are unfortunately not so good to play a grown up Lucky and he was indeed a talented actor in his youth but now he has to play a grown up and he still looks like a kid . Just my observation

Not all of us are excited. The guy has a lot of extreme conservative beliefs. Jacob Young would have been a better (and cuter) fit.

If you want to blame someone blame TG he attacked both actors JY and GV said they were not lucky etc etc so if JJ was homophobic or any of the other stuff you think he would not have supported him I don’t think JJ cares one way or another he will be professional

Jacob Young was a horrible Lucky recast.

Greg Vaughan was better.. but he was more like a separate character altogether. It was hard to even look at him as Luke & Laura’s son. Just a different guy who happened to be named “Lucky Spencer”.

You’ve brought up a good topic – polar opposite GH recasts. Not bad, but just quite different from a previous actor.

Lucky – Jackson/Vaughan
AJ – Kanan/Warlock
Victor – Penghlis/Shaughnessy
Jagger – Sabato/Harrington
Tom – Wallace/Ashford
Helena – Taylor/Towers

While Brown and Braun were close enough for Carly, Wright did seem like a bit of a departure.

Debating on whether Miller/Mathison counts for Drew.

Missing any?

I would say that Kate Mansi has a very different take on Kristina than Lexi Ainsworth. Not bad, just different.

There was a previous Krissy recast during the early ReRon era, but she’s best left forgotten entirely. Along with everything else about that storyline.

And Nancy Lee Grahn is an extreme liberal. So what, nothing to do with the soaps Kevin!

Thank you Timmm

THE RETURN!

So many storyline possibilities, can’t wait for QUALITY ACTING TO RETURN!

Welcome Back!

Michael Easton and Jophielle Love Share Heartfelt Messages Following Airing of Last ‘General Hospital’ Scenes Together

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after General Hospital viewers watched the Thursday June 27th episode. In it, Finn (Michael Easton) comes to say goodbye to his daughter Violet (Jophielle Love), who is now in the temporary custody of his brother Chase (Josh Swickard), before he heads out to rehab.

The episode also would be Michael Easton’s last with the ABC soap opera as Finn was written-off the canvas. Fans of the soap, watched the heartbreaking Finn and Violet scenes, and following its airing, both Love and Easton shared touching posts on their Instagram accounts accompanied by photos.

Easton shared, “This is the hardest goodbye of all for me. The first picture was taken right after Violet and Finn’s last goodbye. After they said cut, Jophielle Love and I immediately found each other and we hung on like we didn’t want it to end. The last video was taken between scenes on the very first day we met and I remember it like yesterday. Jophielle you are pure magic and you are going to do amazing things in this life. Go forward with rainbows in your heart and know that I will never forget you.”

Love (through the writing by her mom) shared: “How do I say good bye ? Michael and Jophielle have been working together on General Hospital for 5 years now ! Over 100 episodes… Today’s scenes were an absolute heartbreak . Jophielle doesn’t lose sight of the possibility of her parents coming back into her GH life … This scene was way too familiar from one she experienced on her first few months on set as her tv mother went through what felt like the same door … saying good bye … and never returning to this day! Poor Violet lost everyone… Jophielle was genuinely very sad … Her chemistry with Michael on set was amazing from day one , as she always insisted to fix his hair before each take as a five years old. Now she is 10 … and … tears were pouring down. It was a very very hard day on set and everyone was tearing up … She managed to get through it all like a pro , …. It was … very emotional and also amazing. Like a grown up scene.”

In a personal note from Love’s mother it read, “Michael … I speak as a mom today who has been there on set every step of the way , being so thankful for you and for Rebecca Budig’s incredible love and instant connection with Jophielle. There is something to be said about tv families… and even more on a show like General Hospital, where these families have such a real bound as they are part of a long lasting legacy … Like Jophielle does … I really hope you get to come back …. Never say never … we love you Michael and we thank you for everything. See you soon 😘”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Finn and Violet Share an Emotional Goodbye Before He Leaves for Rehab

Thursday’s June 27th episode of General Hospital featured one of the saddest and most heartbreaking goodbye scenes in recent memory. In story, Finn (Michael Easton) comes to see his young daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love), who is now staying at the Quartermaines, to tell her why he has to leave her and head to rehab to get help for his drinking problem.

In real life, this marked Michael Easton’s final GH episode in the role of Hamilton Finn. The way the exit was positioned in story, Finn has to go away for three months to rehab. Just how the show will explain his continued absence remains to be seen.

Easton’s final scenes were extremely emotional, and we are sure that the audience at home was reduced to tears and reaching for the hankies throughout. When Finn arrives to see Violet, the two share a hug while she’s concerned about his bandaged hand. Violet tells her dad she wants to go home with him, but he explains he is sick and needs to go away on his own to get help to stop drinking.

With tears streaming down his face, Finn tells Violet that he doesn’t want to leave her, but he has to go and if he doesn’t he won’t get better. He can’t let what happened the other night (when she found him passed out on the floor and bleeding) ever happen again. Violet cries that he thought he was was dead like her Grandpa.

Violet says she can help Finn, as she becomes more and more desperate to not be separated from her father, whom she loves so dear. In tears, Finn tells his daughter, they can take care of each other, and when he is better he can be there for her the way a father is supposed to be.

As Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) look on with tears streaming down their faces. Finn and Violet hug one last time before he leaves. As he walks out with Chase to drive him to rehab, a sad Violet looks on.

At the conclusion of the episode, Easton shares his final scenes with Josh Swickard. As brothers Finn and Chase, the two are there for each other in the darkest of times. Remember, they are still grieving the loss of their father. Finn thanks Chase for allowing him to say goodbye to Violet. Chase promises to take good care of her. However, Chase warns Finn to not to take any shortcuts on his way to sobriety and to always think of Violet’s wellbeing.

It is apparent, the brothers don’t want to say goodbye, but on the count of three, Finn leaves Chase’s car and walks through the door of the rehab facility, while Chase in tears beats the steering wheel before drives away.
