Karla Mosley Back To Work At B&B; Hunter Tylo On The Way Too?

Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful this week got some fun intel from two sources, the actresses themselves! First, Karla Mosley has returned to taping all-new episodes of the CBS daytime drama series, following her maternity leave.

That means Maya Avant will be back in action.. In an Instagram post holding a script from the series, she noted, “Back to work!!!! Having all the feels.”

Mosley gave birth in August to her daughter, Aurora Imani.   Maya was last seen on the canvas in that month as well.  No word yet if Maya’s return will also bring with it Rick Forrester (Jacob Young) who went on recurring status with the show and is off doing other projects.

In other news, looks like fan favorite Hunter Tylo (Taylor) may be back on Bold, in time for the holidays, if her tweets are any indication of that.  Having a twitter exchange with fans of the series, one who seemed disgruntled again, Tylo posted this!

This would indicate Tylo is on her way back for holiday episodes and maybe more of the soap as Taylor!  She also tweeted on the Bill, Ridge, Katie custody drama and shenanigans, “Think I need to go to go straighten these people out?”.  The thread on Hunter’s twitter page continued with a “Stay Tuned” GIF and more.

So, excited to see Maya and Taylor back on the canvas at The Bold and the Beautiful? What would you like to see happen for the characters in story? Comment below.

I had such hopes for B&B but really do consider the show lacking in genuine forward direction. CBS could open the show to an hour to accommodate the large cast of which some appear and disappear, only to return when it is their respective turns for the latest round of sudden affairs and impulsive marriages. I always prefer consistent presences by core characters, and strong story that develops and changes characters as they age and learn life lessons, and that enriches the landscape. To have a plot where Eric seems to turn to Donna after the show sold us on Eric and Quinn seems misguided. To have brother over the balcony fall involving Ridge seems repetitive as the Brooke dance among the Forrester men or the junior version with Steffi, Hope and the Spencer brothers.

This show is painful to watch. I watched on Monday since I was off work. The scenes with Bill, etc. watching Ridge and the Judge were ridiculous.

I’m glad Taylor is back. I really don’t know what Maya will be doing now that Rick seems to be gone. Jacob isn’t in the opening anymore.

Network Exec, Angelica McDaniel On Y&R’s Staying Power: “We Have This Award-Winning, Ratings-Generating, Money-Making Show, And It Really Adds Value To CBS.”

This week, The Young and the Restless celebrated 30 years as the number-one rated daytime soap opera.  That is a streak of 1,560 weeks in the top spot.

Angelica McDaniel, executive vp daytime programs and syndicated program development at CBS, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter on what has made this remarkable run; attributing it to strong storytelling and a cast that includes several beloved veterans who have been around the entire time.

The executive noted that while other soaps over the years have fallen by the wayside, and even though we are down to only four surviving network soap operas, that Y&R will be around with no end in sight.

McDaniel stated, “We have this award-winning, ratings-generating, money-making show, and it really adds value to CBS. We expect it be a part of our lineup in the future.”

She also added, “The Young and the Restless has some of the best actors in the industry — not in soaps, not in daytime, but in television. We have iconic, legacy characters that have been on our show for decades. Melody Thomas Scott will be celebrating her 40th year on the show in February. Peter Bergman just reached his 30th anniversary in November. Eric Braeden started in 1980. We just have an incredible arsenal of actors who are so talented and play these characters so well that you don’t even realize they’re characters. They become people who are part of your life, part of your daily existence.”

As for the continual investment and ways the audience watches the show on various platforms, McDaniel expresed: “The great thing about daytime television is we have loyal, passionate viewers, and they really like to tune in day and date. They want to stick with their stories and see what’s happening today. … Having said that, The Young and the Restless is also one of the top streamed shows on CBS.com. As trends evolve, we are where our viewers are, and we’re making shows readily accessible so they can get their fix and follow their stories.”

So, what do you think about Y&R? Will it remain if and when all other soaps have come to theirconclusion? Do you think it will continue on for years to come, given its position at number #1? Comment below!

Jacob Young Offers Up Thoughts On Rick and Maya’s Split On The Bold and the Beautiful

As fans of CBS Daytime’s The Bold and the Beautiful know, Daytime Emmy-winner Jacob Young (Rick Forrester) has been off the canvas for some time, and the actor had gone on recurring status with the series.

Young has been busy with other projects involving acting roles, his You Tube show, and music career, but certainly is open to a return to the soap opera.

But after the cover of this week’s Soap Opera Digest hit newsstands; which indicates that Rick and Maya have split with the return on-air of Karla Mosley (Maya) (who had been off the show for maternity leave), it clearly looks like the show is moving in a different direction.

Jacob took to Twitter to offer up his feelings on the matter tweeting: “I for one am incredibly sad and disappointed. Rick and Maya have split. (Love that would never die) I loved working with Karla Mosley.  it has been the highlight of my 21 year career in daytime. TRUST ME when I say your opinion matters.”

Since that posting, fans of the couple known as #Raya, have been voicing their thoughts and sharing photos of the on-screen duo.  Young responded to one in particular saying, “Who remembers this? Gosh, I miss Maya.”  In it,the posting read: “This is heartbreaking, Raya was the only example of what true love looks like on that soap!”

Previously, B&B has told the emotional and socially-relevant love story of a transgender woman falling in love with one of the men of the wealthy and renowned Forrester family.

So, what do you think of Jacob’s comments?  Do you want Rick back on the canvas?  What should then happen next for Maya with no Rick?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
