Kassie DePaiva Back as Eve on DAYS; What Did You Think of the Shocking Reveal?
If you caught Wednesdays’s episode of Days of our Lives, you know that Ben’s (Rob Scott Wilson) captor was revealed. After many theories by fans on social media since Ben and Ciara’s (Victoria Konefal) wedding literally blew up in their faces, with Ben being kidnapped, it all came down to this moment.
Then, in a great entrance; soap veteran Kassie DePaiva made a return to the NBC soap opera as Eve Donovan, the woman behind the kidnapping.

Photo: JPI
It all goes down in a warehouse (somewhere yet to be determined to the audience) where we see Ben strapped to a chair and man dressed in black coming into the room where he is being held introducing himself as Vincent played by actor Michael Teh.
Vincent tells Ben he blew up his wedding and was paid to do so by his employer. The henchmen also notes that said employer is also the same person who sent the other wedding gift- that was the one that Ben thought Clyde (James Read) to be behind.
Ben wants to be released but Vincent takes a baton and strikes Ben’s leg as he yelps in pain, and then, lo and behold, from the doorway we hear, “That’s enough Vincent.”
Just then, Eve says she will ‘take it from here’ as Ben watches her in shock. What will Eve’s next move be? Has she snapped? Is this payback for what Ben did for murdering her daughter, Paige? Is Eve working with someone else for money as well to harm Ben and Ciara?
DePaiva tweeted on her return: “I’m baacckk!@nbcdays watch out Ben!”

Loved it! An actual surprise on a soap opera. And one that was kept hidden for months, considering the Days taping schedule. Cool filming too with the light and smoke.
I kind of figured it was her but I got to say they did a great job with the lighting and effects. Soaps need to get back to surprising us and not give out spoilers.
For Hell’s sake, why did they bring back this abomination??
The REAL Eve Donovan is a Days legacy character. Not this joke & ReRon pet.
Get rid of her. Again. And make it permanent this time.
And so help me, by all that is unholy…… if the rumors of a Claire recast are even remotely true… never mind, I’m not even going to speak that into existence because the thought is 666% intolerable.
Get this OLTL baggage off the show NOW. Bring back the REAL Eve.
Satan, I agree with you 99 percent of the time (on soap matters, that is), but it’s time to let go of the OLTL hate (even if hate is critical to a devilish repertoire). Kassie DePaiva is a well-respected performer with a lot of fans, and her previous work with Ron shouldn’t be held against her. Charlotte Ross broke her original contract back in the day and departed Days early. She was offered the chance to come back (before Kassie was asked to step in) and passed because she was too busy with other projects. So you can’t blame those in charge for looking elsewhere. I loved her as Eve back in the day but the world spins on. So go the days of our lives.
I think Kassie DePaiva does a very good job as Eve. I have seen episodes my grandmother recorded with the “real” Eve and am completely unimpressed by her acting ability.
I never liked the first Eve….she was a greasy sleazy unlikeable whore. I love Kassie…..but this is not a good recast. Kassie is older than the woman who played Eve’s mother….and the character has no relevance on the canvas without Shane her father. Sbe is far too campy and “put on”. They have tried to shoehorn her into almost every story…Jack and Jennifer….The Kiriakis, the DiMera’s……its time to cut some losses and admit its not working and spend salary money on characters who are more connected to the heart of the show.
What a shocker.I always liked Eve no matter how bad she was.The way things are going on Days I bet that her daughter is still alive.Never did get to see the show at all today which made me mad.So I dont know what happened however I did tell my friend I have a feeling that it will be someone we least expect.I like it.
the actress who plaued her daughter has been rehired. Why do a serial killer storuline only to bring back all the victims alive? Its cheap, low grade Jim Reilly writing that Ron C. Excels at.
Really? Wow not to surprised there.
I had to laugh so hard at the production values. Took me straight back to those cheesy 1970’s music videos with the harsh lighting, smoky room and then Eve’s killer red sequin dress. Perhaps it was to all be symbolic but, boy!, did it ad some levity to my day!
Indeed–pure camp! Who wears a red sequined dress to hang out in an abandoned warehouse?
Michael Fairman, have you considered labeling things Spoiler, so those who haven’t seen the episode yet aren’t spoiled? I take a chance logging on to websites for news coverage (I faithfully follow your site) and realize the episode aired, so technically it isn’t a spoiler, but for me it is, since I’m not caught up yet. Just some constructive criticism, I enjoy your webpage, but will be weary if I haven’t seen the current episode of any soap. Thank you.
I have always hated the character of Eve from the time she seduced her teenage daughters boyfriend, J.J. All she does is wreak havoc on the show. I only saw one little bit of goodness when she was with Brady and his son. I imagine Rafes dad will be back to help her exact revenge on Ben for killing their daughter Paige. Her constant need to destroy Jennifer was another senseless goal. She may be a good actor but I have only seen her in this role, so I am only say I will not be watching the show much anymore while she tortures Ben. I cant believe they have gotten rid of 6 or 7 people only to bring this bitch on wheels back. DOOL is on a self-distruct time bomb!
As much as I love Kassie, this is another ridiculously infantile and over-the-to, and overly used plot. There is no excitement or anticipation unless the viewer enjoys torture. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
On another note ( off the subject), I think Jake is Stefan, where Julie has Jake’s heart. It is, indeed, conceivable that this Vincent guy transferred Jake’s memories into Stefan’s brain. Days is an open book—yet, I have been wrong before. That plot has legs—-this Eve thing does not. Perhaps, TPTB intend for Ciera to die by Eve’s hand.
As good as Kassie is, and she is damn good, she can’t save this over the top story arc with yet another brainwashing…sloppy lazy writing and poor production. This writer is making a mess of this show..need to get back to real drama/angst.
I figured that it would turn out to be Eve. I hate the whole story. As someone who deals with mental illness, I find it disrespectful. It is a jump the shark moment for the character of Eve. I think it is time to retire the character for a good long while.
I dont like what Eve is doing to Ben.Not at all.I think she is doing this so Ben can be arrested again then be thrown in jail for good. Also the fact that Ciera please excuse my spelling. Will be gone anyway. I hope they catch Eve before she does more harm.
I’m not impressed by Eve being the culprit behind blowing up the church& abducting Ben to make him become the Necktie killer it’s got so stupid … I don’t really wanna watch this show anymore the characters are leaving the show for good ….sadd but isn’t it time to just being in the whole cast and say good bye to no more Days of our lives ..
John’s leaving Ciara leaving.Hopes left marlena is leaving Sonny & will and Maggie & Gabby & Abbie both left JJ left .. Rafes leaving and sammys Nicole’s Husband is leaving to…so who will be left ?
How is Eve going to feel once she realizes that her precious daughter is still alive?I know she is I can just feel it.Wanna bet it will be the exact day that she wants Ben to kill Ciara.I wish she would stay but that is up to her what she wants to do and I wish her well.My best friend thinks Ciara is so pretty she isnt the only one and is sad to see her go.Who the heck is going next? Everyone please take care stay safe and well,by all means wear a mask.

How John Oliver’s ‘Days of Our Lives’ Guest Star Turn as ‘Devlin St. John’ Came to an End

‘Last Week Tonight’ host, John Oliver wrapped his three-episode run on Days of Our Lives on the Friday, August 14 episode of the Peacock streaming soap opera, where viewers learned the fate of his character, the Salem chief water inspector, Devlin St. John.
Oliver got all of wishes granted and got to revel in some soap tropes on Friday’s episode which included: a slapping fest, a mind-erasing drug and case of amnesia, and exiting through a Days of our Lives staple … the cryogenic chamber! This leaves the door open for Devlin St. John return down the line, since many characters come back to life from years on end in the said chamber.
Here’s what went down! In the pick-up from Oliver’s cliffhanger earlier in the week, Devlin St. John was drugged by EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney). Now Rita prepared a syringe filled with CRS-17 to wipe out the last 24 hours of his memory, so the water inspector would get out of EJ’s way. However, there was a twist!

DEVLIN ST. JOHN MUST BE DEALT WITH
Before the drug took its full effect, a dazed Devlin woke up very disoriented, believing he had been ‘compromised.’ Next, we get (as previewed), the showdown between Devlin and EJ, where Devlin stands up to EJ telling him he will not allow him to “gut” his brain, and calling him a “budget Bond villain!” In return, EJ calls Devlin a “sanctimonious little parasite,” which leads to St.John slapping EJ and vice-versa.
From there, things take an even more over-the-top soap turn. After his 24-hour amnesia took effect, Devlin managed still hear incriminating intel within the DiMera mansion. Rita realizes she must get rid of St. John for good, but she has developed feelings for him in short order. Rita admits she has developed a crush on the chief water inspector, so she cannot bring himself to kill him.

JOHN OLIVER TO ADDRESS DAYS AND GH ROLES ON SUNDAY’S LAST WEEK TONIGHT?
However, next Rita has Devlin in a wheelchair and brings him into EJ’s underground cryogenic chamber. Once he is physically in the chamber, she kisses him on the lips, before she shoves him into the chamber with her parting words, “All you need is faith that you’ll return one day.”
Thus ends the soap opera journey of John Oliver from his three-day guest stint in July on General Hospital in the role of Z, the head of the WSB, to his campy role with the wig he brought to set as Devlin St. John on DAYS. It was back in March, Oliver revealed his list of requirements to any soap opera that would have him: a soapy name, a dramatic close-up and tag, slapping, and a juicy storyline.
Hopefully, Oliver will finally talk about his experiences on Days of Our Lives and General Hospital on this Sunday’s episode of ‘Last Week Tonight on HBO which should be a must-see.
So, what did you think of how John Oliver’s Devlin St. John was written out of Days of Our Lives? How did you like his run on DAYS as compared to GH? Both very different, for sure. Let us know via the comment section below.

Deidre Hall Extends a ‘Days of Our Lives’ Invite to Julia Roberts: ‘Come on By, Babe’

Days of Our Lives continues to be all over pop culture in 2026 with A-list celebrities who have shared their love of the long-running soap opera set to turn 61 this November.
First came word of Ryan Gosling’s admiration of Deidre Hall (Marlena) and his love for the show. Next, came ‘Last Week Tonight’ host, John Oliver’s desire to visit Salem, which came to fruition, and now Hall, the iconic star of the series, has invited Oscar winner, Julia Roberts to do a guest stint on the soap, too.
Roberts had been a known fan of Days of Our Lives for decades. During Monday’s Backlot Pass Day, which showcased upcoming original television and streaming line-ups for NBC and Peacock, Hall walked the carpet to talk to reporters.

When she spoke with PauseRewind, Hall shared what other celebrity she would like to see show up in Salem, “You know, Julia Roberts is a very big fan,” recalled Hall. “I think she must have some downtime somewhere. So, Julia, come on by, babe.’
Hall, who is celebrating this year her 50th year as Dr. Marlena Evans, added that she has met Roberts several times at award shows. “She was just sort of gobstruck, (and it) wasn’t about me, it was the show. ‘The people sitting behind me are from my show.’ She was so cute,” added Hall.
RYAN GOSLING UPDATE
In addition, Deidre offered an update on her collab with Ryan Gosling, where fans everywhere are hoping to see scenes with Marlena and a character written for Gosling. He ‘has yet to come,’ acknowledged Hall.
As for John Oliver, who this week can seen on three episodes of Days of Our Lives (August 11, 12 and 14), Hall said of meeting him at the DAYS set, “I was there for John Oliver. He is so adorable and easy to work with. He’s thrilled to be there, part of the gang. There was no hesitation, just a dream to have him there because we appreciate his comedy and his history.”

A MARLENA STORYLINE YET TO BE TOLD
Deidre also spoke on storylines she had yet to do over five decades, since she has played almost everything imaginable, including being possessed by the devil twice in a lifetime! “Marlena has not been disabled, and 50 years you’d think at some point she would have fallen out a flight of stairs, or lost her hearing, or lost her sight, or something,” expressed Hall.
“I have thought at some point it would be interesting if Marlena had a patient who was hearing impaired, and the audience got to see what that looks like. Sign language is a beautiful, beautiful thing, and it would be interesting for them to see it,” added Deidre.
As it turns out, Deidre learned sign language along with her sister, Andrea (ex-Samantha and Hattie, DAYS) when her twin sister welcomed a young deaf student in her class (Andrea is a special education teacher) and had to quickly learn the language to better accommodate her needs.
So, would you like to see Julia Roberts next up on the growing list of celebrities to make their way to Salem? If so, who should she play? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Exec Explains How They Fit John Oliver’s Guest Stint into Production When They Tape Almost a Year in Advance

If you caught today’s Tuesday, August 11 episode of Days of Our Lives streaming on Peacock, you caught the debut of John Oliver in his Salem role as the chief water inspector in town named Devlin St. John.
The ‘Last Week Tonight’ host has been on a jaunt through the soaps over the past few months, first on General Hospital, where he played the WSB head named Z, to now the man who has got the goods on EJ DiMera.
In his first of three appearances (the remaining two stream August 12 and 14), Devlin meets up with Paulina Price (Jackée Harry), Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes), Rita Lesley (who takes a liking to Mr. St. Jonn), played by Maggie Carney, and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). When Oliver arrives on the scene there is the wig, the quipping dialog, and a few soap stares and such along the way.

Days of Our Lives is the only American soap opera in production to tape so far advance, often 10 to 11 months, that it makes it difficult to get out of any storyline that is not clicking with the fans, or if the writers want to change course.
In addition, casting announcement of exciting returns or new characters while initially exciting, finds the viewers having to wait a very long time to see them on their screens. On the flip side, without this production model the soap opera, which will turn 61 in November, wouldn’t remain and that would be a serious blow to the fans, to the soap genre and all that it employs.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES EP KEN CORDAY ON THE PROCESS OF ADDING JOHN OLIVER INTO PREVIOUSLY TAPED EPISODES
When John Oliver made his pronouncement on his late night talk show back in March that he desired to be on a soap opera. DAYS executive producer, Ken Corday was going to make it happen. He explained to Vulture, how they were able weave in Oliver’s request and take him up on it, while making it look seamless into episodes taped so long ago.
Both Corday and co-executive producer and showrunner, Noel Maxam, intially went back and looked at previously taped episodes and story outlines to search for a potential story thread where they could place the character to be played by Oliver.
Corday shared, “We didn’t want to wait until next year for these shows to air, so we lifted (already produced) show and put him in. We basically had to shoehorn him into our schedule because we were so far ahead.” The longtime EP also expressed its challenges stating it, “was somewhat complex. It was basically, ‘We have to do this; let’s get it done.’ And we did. He was too good to pass up.”
THE CREATION OF DEVLIN ST. JOHN
In terms of the scripting and creation of Oliver’s character of Devlin St. John, it was a two-team effort. Corday explained that Oliver’s overall storyline was scripted by DAYS writers, but John Oliver’s team punched up some of the dialog.
“John and his producer had a lot of input in making the words fit the way he talks,” the EP recalled. “He’s (Oliver) very machine-gun in how he speaks, so that took a little work. But in the end, we both got what we wanted.”
In terms of the look of his DAYS character of the Salem chief water inspector, Oliver brought the wig he wears in his scenes to the set, and the DAYS hair and make-up team refined it for the cameras.
You can check out more behind the scenes moments of Oliver’s appearance on Days of Our Lives in the newly released video package from Access Hollywood that dropped last night below.
So, what did you think of John Oliver’s debut as Devlin St. John on today’s Days of Our Lives? Ken Corday sharing how the soap opera was able to shoehorn in Oliver’s scenes in previous shot episodes from months ago? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
