I don’t know if this comment directly applies to MF’s Soap Nation Live, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he mentioned Aretha Franklin’s passing. Apparently she was a great fan of Y&R and Bold and Beautiful. I hope the following comment I found online isn’t isn’t too long…
“As the world mourns the loss of Aretha Franklin, there are two words that you might not hear used to describe the “Respect” singer: soap fan.
Franklin was a huge fan of The Young and the Restless. In fact, that love of Genoa City earned Franklin two invitations to the Daytime Emmys.

“The Young and the Restless [is] one of my all-time favorite shows,” Franklin shared in a 1997 video that introduced the CBS soap’s Daytime Emmy montage. “I watch it in the morning. I watch it when I’m at home. I watch it when I’m in concert. I watch it when I’m asleep. I WATCH IT!”

She even had a favorite character — the mustache himself, Victor Newman.

“Victor is one of my favorite characters in The Young and the Restless. I love the way he makes his approach to a woman. He’s the all-time player,” Franklin beamed as she tried to mimic Eric Braeden’s voice. “I love the way he operates.”

Franklin also appeared as a presenter at the 2005 Daytime Emmys.

It also seems that Franklin’s love of soaps went beyond just Y&R. The Bold and the Beautiful’s VP of Communications Eva Basler shared a story of how Franklin was excited to see some familiar B&B faces in the crowd at the Daytime Emmys

“It was my first year at #BoldandBeautiful & we were at rehearsals in #NYC. #ArethaFranklin was on stage & looked down to the floor & screamed, ‘RIDGE! THORNE!’ excited to see them in the front row,” Basler wrote on Twitter. “Later, I had the honor of escorting Susan Flannery & her thru the gifting suite.”

Speaking of Y&R, I never saw Billy Miller when he was Billy Abbott on Y&R. But I did see him on “Suits” this week. He showed a dimension I haven’t seen on GH. Versatile actor.

DAYS’ Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes On Doug and Julie’s Emotional Scenes: “We Didn’t Have To Act Them. The Love Between Us Played Them For Us.”

If you have been witnessing this week’s episodes of NBC’s Days of our Lives, you know that Julie suffered a massive heart attack that has rocked Doug to his core, and has made the once invincible Julie devastated that she may not survive this medical crisis to continue her enduring love with her husband.

The heart attack which came about after Julie minced words with Gabi (Camila Banus), has given veteran stars and Lifetime Achievement Daytime Emmy Award recipients, Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes, some emotional and heartfelt material to play.  As everyone knows, the popular duo has been married in real-life for decades.

On their official Twitter handle DaysHayes, the couple shared this tweet to their followers: “Those scenes between Doug and Hope, and the ones between Doug and Julie were so beautifully written, we didn’t have to act them. The love between us played them for us. Thank you, Ron!”

Of course, Bill and Susan were referencing Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati for this storyline and giving them these impactful scenes to play which mean so much to them and the longtime DAYS viewing audience.

So, what have you thought about the recent Doug and Julie scenes, since Julie suffered a heart attack?  What do you think of giving vets like Bill and Susan the ball in this storyline? Comment below.
