Michael Easton Returning To General Hospital!

The big announcement promised today from General Hospital’s executive producer Frank Valentini was revealed late Tuesday morning via his Twitter account! And through a short video clip GH fans learned that Michael Easton, who was killed off as Dr. Silas Clay last year, is returning to the ABC daytime drama series!
In the video clip, we see Valentini in a supermarket with Michael Easton in the same aisle. Frank asks Michael if he would like to come back to General Hospital. Easton responds, “Do you have something good?” Valentini tells Michael he has something great, and then Easton says he will see Frank in a few weeks!
Now at the moment, General Hospital is keeping mum as to what role Easton will play. However, it will be a new role for the fan favorite. According to a tweet and facebook post from ABC’s GH executive Nathan Varni, Easton is returning to the series in an exciting new role with more details to be released later this month.
Michael took to his official facebook page immediately following the announcement to share: “IT’S TRUE… It was your kindness and support that made this happen. I am humbled by your faith. With gratitude and love, now and always, Michael.”

51st Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Nominations
On Thursday, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards revealed nominations in several key categories via four entertainment news programs: Access Hollywood, E! News, Extra and Access Hollywood.
Three of the four announcements were major categories in the field of Daytime Dramas.
The nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category are: The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Neighbours and The Young and the Restless.

General Hospital won this category last year, and has the most all-time wins for a series in this category. For the first time, the beloved Australian-based soap opera, Neighbours is now eligible for competition due to its reboot which streams on Amazon Freevee.

The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out in ceremonies in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th.
Previous categories announced tonight via the entertainment news outlet included: Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

The nominations were revealed for the 51st annual Daytime Emmys. in the prestigious Lead Actress in a Drama Series category by Entertainment Tonight.
This comes ahead of tomorrow’s full list that is set to be unveiled at 12noon/9am PST on Friday.
In the running for this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress are Tamara Braun (Ava, Days of our Lives), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, The Bold and the Beautiful), Annika Noelle (Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful), Finola Hughes (Anna, General Hospital), Cynthia Watros (Nina, General Hospital) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless).

Previous winners in this category include GH’s Finola Hughes, Cynthia Watros and Y&R’s Michelle Stafford. Days of our Lives nominee had won in the Supporting Actress category twice in her career.

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’
We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.
Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.
Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story. The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.
The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed. Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”
No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

I would’ve preferred a more historic return for General Hospital, as I am not only not a fan of Michael’s acting but, I am also not a fan of any of the characters he portrayed during his stints on the soap. So, let’s hope this is temporary and that better returns are on the horizon!
GH will never be about GH as long as Frank is here. He can’t get past OLTL’s cancellation. How is it logical to think that the way to attract GH fans is with actors from other shows or specifically OLTL?
This is GH. GH fans would tune in for GH characters and actors. But Frank is obsessed with his OLTL pals and really has the nerve to hype it as big news for “General Hospital Fans.” It’s really insulting. Nothing changes and it won’t.
A few fans start a petition and we’re supposed to believe it meant something and had significance? Was it 10,000 people, I can’t remember? How many thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands tuned out prior because Easton and all the other newbies invaded the show to begin with.
This is really a sad state of events and really sad that Frank billed it the way he did. All the chatter and speculation was Frisco’s back, Tristan got a contract, you know things that would appeal to GH fans and be big news. Nothing changes.
The ratings are up from RC and because it’s winter, the show isn’t going anywhere because ABC daytime can’t figure out anything else, and the show will never achieve the success it can because the EP laments away for OLTL and is determined to take GH away from its fans. Good Luck.
AJQ, I honestly expected it to be the announcement that TR had, indeed, been signed to a contract, what with all the soap boards buzzing with joy about his latest return and interactions with Anna.
I like Easton, myself. But my pleasure has been muted by “rumors” that he will be playing a mob boss, meaning yet another story for Sonny, rather than playing Silas, or another addition to the hospital staff. I just cannot take this mob nonsense.

I didn’t hear that about a new mob boss, just another reason not to like this.
It is nothing against ME, he seems like a very decent guy and really professional. But today’s announcement just highlights so many problems with TPTB at GH and how nothing has changed.
For Frank to bill this as a big surprise for GH fans is either completely tone deaf or just tauntingly disrespectful. It’s just more of the same. Actors from other soaps take precedence over GH veteran actors, even to the point of giving them a fourth character in as many years.
Why are our veteran actors chopped liver? They were all on a soap that was rated higher than OLTL with a more well known brand. Yet they take a back seat or aren’t even on the bus.
And how disrespectful to Kristina Wagner today. They had her live tweeting, which raised speculation that the announcement had something to with Jack Wagner or Tristan, and Frank makes an announcement about his OLTL actor coming back, knowing there would be a lot of chatter and it had nothing to do with her appearance and really overshadowed it. It’s just typical and it’s enough already.
The casting surprise is a huge letdown for this viewer. No offense to any fans of Michael Easton cause he is a class act and a fine actor but once Silas Clay was killed off that should’ve been the end of it. I beleive that the first priority should’ve been Wally Kurth and Tristian Rogers. GH is being very foolish right now to not get these two men back on long term contracts and having Ned and Robert back as full time characters. Ned and Robert are needed more than ME’s fourth different GH character since 2012. He played McBain, Steven, Silas, and now a new character. It’s just too much. The lawsuit between ABC and Prospect Park prevents GH from bringing back McBain so I am not happy about this.
Ned’s return from 2013-2015 was a major success. He had taken his place as the Q’s new patriarch. He was a mentor to Michael at ELQ. He gave Tracy tough love as her son. He gave Olivia an enjoyable romance. He was a good sparring partner for Julian. He would now be able to interact with his brother, Dillon, who’s finally back in town. Robert could reunite with Anna to give her a pairing while they fight crime together. He could play a veteran mentor at the station for Jordan, Dante and Nathan. They could always bring Ethan back and make him Robert’s son with Holly. This just leaves the door open for DAYS/Y&R to put Wally and Tristian back on contract which means no more GH appearances for Ned and Robert.
AJQ if you hate hte show so much stop watching, all you do is whine whine whine about the show yet stillw atch every day. Get over it is not the 1980’s its the 2000s. If you hate GH so much as all you do is complain change the freakin channel, oh but if you did that what would you do with all you free time spent complaining on the internet. You must have a sad life!
Well said AJQ and I couldn’t agree more. Nothing against ME, in fact, I liked his John McCain on GH, but if it’s true that he’ll be a Mobster it’s another entry on a long list of reasons not to watch this show.
Wow. Well, as a someone who started watching GH again only because of the OLTL characters coming on, I must heartily disagree. I just might start watching again on a regular basis now. BM is another reason I watch.

Again, instead of spending your free time anonymously calling people out for what they like or don’t like or what they do or don’t do, using words like whine and hate, why don’t you stick to the subject and try and make an intelligent point?
It’s not the 1980’s because Michael Easton is brought back to play a fourth character in four years? OK.
But what is it? This need to hire and now rehire actors from other soaps, from OLTL, to play new characters? And why is Easton important? This so called fan revolt for this “popular” actor resulted in what? The ratings have been higher the last five months with him gone, so what measureable impact has his departure had on GH?
And btw Matt, since you know me so well, I don’t watch everyday. Like today, I won’t be watching today to see Howarth & Stafford on chew it up for an hour.

I honestly don’t understand why any GH fan would have a problem with an actor coming over from a defunct ABC soap unless they think little or nothing of said actor’s chops.
Imo it’s all in the ABC soap actors family and I welcome them. I do however feel differently about actors from other network soaps coming to GH.
It’s just odd to me why so many prior OLTL AMC,PC or RH fans(I won’t mention one or two that pre-dated RH) take umbrage, laced with a competitive fervor,and see as an interloping intrusion, old familiar faces from the aforementioned soaps becoming part of the GH family.
I am devoted fan of ME since Port Charles and am very happy to welcome him back. That being said let’s petition for TR to stay on long-term. I love seeing him intereact with Anna and Mac and everyone else.He’s brought well-needed class, eady grace,talent, charisma, style and a touch of old school GH back. Imo we need more getting back to hospital roots as the show’s base of operation (no pun intended),rather than Crime (Caricature of) Inc. Give us a core Chief Of Staff who has and upholds great values and the hipocratic oath, a dedicated Head Nurse without attitude that would normally get her fired , staff who love their jobs et al .to drive story.Give us more core families -upstanding PC denizens to balance out what we have now.
Can’t wait for Michael’s return.

Right part or not, I’ve not been a fan of his acting for a long time. He’s a very dry actor, and does not emote in his delivery of any kind of material.
I couldn’t disagree with you more, Scott. ME has mastered the very, very difficult role of being able to play to the camera. This is SO much harder than screaming and shouting and flailing around. Internally driven characters are the toughest to play. He’s the kind of actor, like Thorsten Kaye, that raises the level of those who work with him.
And I agree he’s just as mumbly mouth boring as Kelly Monaco is. .just ugggghhh
ALSO couldn’t disagree more. I like Michael Easton, I liked the character of McBain. It was ridiculous to kill off Silas just when they were developing major story with Ava, with whom Silas had history and chemistry. Now he is going to become the UMPTEENTH, secret mobster boss. Why is this so difficult for the producers of this show to put out a coherent and consistent episode from one day to the next?

That is Michael E’s aura, Scott. He is a turn-on. This from a woman’s point of view….and, not necessarily sexual. His indifferent, detached attitude is very magnetic. What can I say. He is fiiine; including his acting.

MiE seems like a good guy and I’m happy for him and his fans since I think he got kind of a raw deal from GH the last time. But like you, Scott, I was hoping for more returns of classic GH characters, it being GH Fan February and all.
I wonder if Frank Valentini might have been better off holding off on this for a week or so until GH’s own character returns (hopefully there will be at least a few of them) were announced?
I’m a little skeptical on yet another new character for MiE as well. It better be really good to pull this off. In any case, I think any GH returns should have been front and center first before FV added MiE as the icing on the cake so to speak.
I agree with Scott as well. I’m just not a fan of his acting at all. I was crossing my fingers that if anyone was coming back, especially in a 3rd role it would be the versitile Sarah Brown. I couldn’t tell the difference between Easton’s previous two parts on the show. It was like the same character played by the same bad actor. ; (

Here’s what I wish– I wish that Frank would finally get over OLTL’s cancellation and work on making GH great again–in its own righ!
Right now we have Tanko (Todd meets Franco) foundering around looking foolish and he has become painful to watch. The same can be said of his female counterpart, Michelle Stafford.
Meanwhile, really talented actors such as Ric Hearst, John York and Tristan Rogers wandering around without a contract and a front burner storyline.
@Harry….Thank you for your sentiments….they are spot on! Having been a Michael Easton fan for a few decades from his primetime work and then on Port Charles, I am delighted that he’s returning to GH in whatever role it will be…he’s versatile enough to handle something totally different from Silas or even the OLTL fanbase’s sainted John McBain. And speaking of that particular show, I totally agree with you that it’s time that Frank got over that program’s cancellation, however, the same must be said for all those viewers who just won’t let it go…..like it or not, GH is GH, not OLTL 2.0…that experiment tried and failed….at the beginning I was gracious in the notion that we got Mc Bain, Todd, and Starr, landing in Port Charles since they were acceptable enough characters…I especially loved having Easton there as John….he fit in the best of the three. However, when we started getting Blair, then Tea, crashing into town, it was clear that a hybrid soap was the intended end result. Thankfully, Prospect Park put an end to that plot…of course, that fact hasn’t stopped many posters here from constantly bemoaning their precious show is over and insisting we need to get this actress and that actor from that soap to come to Port Charles. The reality is that OLTL is over and done….just accept it and move on like all of us who watched other past daytime dramas have had to do….GH has already absorbed far too many “refugees” from there and other shows, and by and large, this has not met with success, as Harry has so rightfully pointed out. Lastly, before anyone gets insulted by my remarks, let me ask you this, had the shoe been on the other foot, and GH instead had been cancelled, how would you have liked Luke, Sonny, Carly, Maxie, Lulu, Dante, et al, invading Llanview, then having us GH fans clamoring non-stop for more and more of our beloved characters to take over that town? I already know the answer….you wouldn’t have liked it and I certainly couldn’t have blamed you. Just trying to put this undoubtedly touchy subject into perspective. At any rate, welcome back, Michael Easton….you’ve been missed!

Yes ,he was on PC before OLTL and GH spinoff funny how people ignore that makes him a GH vet. Father Micheal and Caleb Morley aka Stephen Clay are GH characters.
I know I was reaching at straws but I had high hopes he was coming back as John Mcbain—I guess that wouldn’t have happened because I think the lawsuit between Prospect Park and ABC is still going on. Hopefully this will be something exciting for us and for Michael. I always liked watching him when he played his other characters on other shows.

I think Michael is a great actor and I’m glad to have him back. I just don’t understand why they killed him off just to bring him back as someone else.

I think this is really great. Although, I was not a fan of Silas Clay, I thought that the approach that Michael took after being let go from the show was really classy. He took the high road and it seems to be paying off. Way to go. I hope that he is treated better this time; he is a talented actor.

I like Michael Easton as an actor, but this is the return of a OLTL actor to GH, instead of the return of a GH actor or a GH legacy character. I’d rather have Lucky back, or more of the Webber family, or ….

I just wish people would acknowledge he was on that GH spinoff called Port Charles before OLTL so he was part of the GH family before OLTL. He is the only actor associated with OLTL that came to GH that had a poorly developed character Silas ,and then was fired due to no fault of his own I am glad he is back.
GH fans are the only soap fans that whine about characters coming from other soaps. Y&R fans for example have taken to Jason Thompson no whining about him being a GH actor.
Exactly, Dee! It’s actually very possible to be a huge Michael Easton fan and have never watched him on OLTL as John McBain. My only exposure to that character was when he came to GH, but having said that, I’ve seen this talented actor play many various roles throughout his career, and he has displayed the capabilities to portray an entire range of different types…be they good or evil, comedic or dramatic, human or well, otherwise…you get the picture! As the vampire Caleb, et al, on “Port Charles,” Easton was utterly superb and totally believable…..hence I am looking forward to seeing yet another facet to this extremely gifted performer in his newest GH role!

I didn’t watch Port Charles, because the vampire stuff made it feel pretty disconnected from GH to me. So I don’t think of Michael Easton as coming from GH.
I liked Easton’s Silas character on GH, but like all of the OLTL actors’ characters after the Prospect Park lawsuit, Silas was poorly developed and had little in the way of good story lines.
My comment on Easton goes more to the fact that Guza decimated the non-mob families in Port Charles and I would like to see more of them back on the canvas to balance the mob stories. I’m thrilled with the Anna and Robert story right now, so I would love GH to put Tristan on contract to keep Robert around. I really want Wally Kurth as Ned back and on contract to beef up the Q family. I also want Lucky back to beef up the Spencer/Webber families.
Rather than adding new characters, which I think Frank Valenti does too often, my preference would be to rebuild the non-mob families by bringing back characters that I loved,preferably with the original actors.
That said, I like Michael Easton, as I said in my original comment. I am hoping that he is coming back as a character with a connection to a non-mob family.
Finally, I think characterizing my original comment as whining is inaccurate and rude. Surely we can have different points of view without slamming one another.

Trudy,I was not talking specifically about you ,but fans in general that complain about OLTL actors. I love Tristan too I hate RC made Luke the love of Holly life when it was Robert would love to see that fixed.
With that being said Tristan, Ian and other vets should be a permanent part of GH. MichealEaston fans fought for him to come back I was one of them.

Fantastic news! Fingers crossed that the Prospect Park mess has been resolved and he’s returning as John McBain. That character fit in so well with GH. Maybe he’ll return to help his mentor, Anna, and Robert to find Carlos.

I wish, but not the case. The judge will not look at the case until PP’s bankruptcy case has been resolved. They won’t even meet about it again until May. It has been postponed 3 times now because of the Bankruptcy case.

Well, Harry the Second or Harry D–I was not in a huff. Albeit, I am well conditioned to be in a huff as I am in one quite often–muscle memory and all that. But not this time. I just didn’t quite agree with your statement and many folks who did agree with you were giving me the credit for it.
I agree with you with your expression of love of Michael E and also your expression of appreciation for John McBain. However, where we part ways is that I have finally come to realize that OLTL cannot be relived on GH. Prospect Park or not, it’s just not working. I do not feel soap opera cross over stories and characters work although it’s pretty to think so.
I just wish OLTL could come back on its own.

Melissa is a great actress that has very diverse interests and talents. The truth is Easton lights up with Melissa and they sizzle. Michael even admitted to their great partnership.
Agree with Beth. If you want him successful he has to be in a successful story and pairing. Michael and Melissa are ratings gold and multifaceted. They can argue, they can work together , be humorous and most definitely bring the heat. Miss them..

I like Michael Easton, and welcome him back to GH. Not only a very talented man, but a very classy man.
However…really…a lot of GH fans were hoping the so-called “big big news” was to be a contract offered to Tristan Rogers or, because Kristina Wagner was “tweeting” today, perhaps news that Jack Wagner was returning. The Tristan Rogers thing really irks me and confuses me. The man literally lights up the screen and everyone around him. Fan response to his latest return is consistently enthusiastic on every soap site I have been to. Does anyone have any real understanding of why an obvious permanent “get” for the show is not being “got”? Inquiring minds want to know!
I thought Rogers had a contract with Y&R.
No he does not, TR was dropped to “recurring” status on Y&R months ago. That is why he is able to appear on both GH and Y&R. In fact today I hear he appeared on both shows!
I like Easton, don’t get me wrong. But I do not understand — truly do not — why this beloved GH star, TR, is not part of the TPTB’s equation for what can help GH regain more of its luster.
And the fact that Easton is reputedly coming on as a mobster? Horrifying, as I am soooooo sick of the mob on GH. This would be his fourth character on GH (McBain, Caleb, Silas, drug lord), when we have actors that are never being given any kind of chance at all: John J. York (Mac), Kristina Wagner (Felicia), and most exasperatingly, Tristan Rogers as Robert Scorpio.

TR was dropped to recurring months ago. He is NOT on contract with Y&R. All you have to do is google it, for heaven’s sake. It was pretty big soap news when he was dropped to recurring.
Tristan is right–TR is on reoccurring status on Y&R and it’s a travesty of justic.
He also has made it clear that he would like to return to GH.
I would like to see Robert and Laura in a scene together.
They’re old friends. I will never forget the day Laura bumped into Robert Scorpio on a foggy pier. Scorpio was wearing a London Fog rain coat and may have been the most handsome man ever to erupt out a fog bank. And then he spoke and he had fans at hello with that Aussie accent. He and Laura flirted harmlessly with one another and enjoyed a very nice and natural chemistry. Why can’t we watch these two old friends play a game of catch up?
I guess so we can watch Paul and Ava make disgusting love, Nina and Franco play isolated house with each other and watch Alexis and Jillian compete for mirror time. Why is it so hard to get the most simple wishes granted these days? Why do TPTB seem bound and determined to give fans what they DON’T want?

Besides, it’s kinda cool to witness this bit of soap opera history….surely there has not been another actor to play this many roles on a single daytime drama? We’ve surely had dual-roles and soap-jumping characters, but I should think this has to be some sort of record? Jimh? Mr. Fairman?
It’s said that everyone has an unrelated doppleganger somewhere in the world. Silas has a murderous twin. So, whose to say McBain doesn’t have his own doppleganger? I say, bring on Easton 4.0! As for Tristan Rogers, *loved* Scorpio. But, his presence, much like Duke’s would not increase the 18-49 audience one bit. Just stating fact. GH needs to have younger characters that can attract new viewers. Much like a dying rural town or church, it won’t survive if the only ones around are the old folks.

Dear God – I hope whatever the character is, that it is someone with a funny disposition and a gregarious personality. Never saw Easton as Caleb, but both John McBain and Silas Clay were very dry, uninteresting characters. What any of his leading ladies saw in him is beyond me. His return needs to pop! I think Valentini should also get Trevor St John to join the GH cast.

This is great news! I never took to Silas BUT I was a fan of John McBain. I am happier for all the Michael Easton fans who were crushed when he was killed off. NOW, what part will he play? GH needs a new Neurosurgeon BUT Michael has already done the doctor thing. Police, no, done that to! I think my friend CeeCee is on to something with him possibly being casted as Valentin Cassadine. This character was supposed to debut two years ago. Michael would be great as a Cassadine. Rumor has it that Helena’s Will will be read soon and this would be a good time for a new Cassadine to surface. This is HUGE news, thank you Frank!
I feel like one of the few who was thrilled with the OLTL characters coming to GH. They shook up the canvas at the time, providing Sonny with a real substantive foil in Todd, giving Michael a girlfriend in Starr who could could relate to his daddy issues, and also presenting real romantic lead competition for Jason in the form of John Mccain (and for the first time in – EVER? – Jason was wrong about things and McBain was right). Having McBain back adds to the police force, makes Sam’s relationship with Jason complicated, and brings Easton back in his most popular role.
But making him a fourth character on GH? Stretching it WAY too far.

Er, no. GH is not OLTL 3.0. Stop trying to make it so. They have made plenty of new roles for women in the past 2 years – Ava, Nina, Madeline, Dr. O. GH also brought back Anna, Laura & Tracy from years of being ignored. I think the area GH needs to improve upon are its 30ish male characters. There are no young male professionals of any significance other than Lucas. Michael is completely uneducated. Nathan & Dante are cops. And…that’s it! Where is the next generation of doctors, lawyers, & businessmen in PC? Nikolas is pushing 40 & he inherited everything. It’s pathetic. The women actually run the town with female mayors, doctors, lawyers, magazine editors, hoteliers, event planners, etc. everywhere.

I am not saying to get rid of the ‘older’ cast, but who will pick up where they have left off. Tyler Christopher is 43. Still relatively young but borderline middle aged. You are so right. Where is the next generation of any profession, period. It seems that a select few want things to remain status quo. There is no young romance….instead of youth preparing and planning for a wedding, we have grandmas looking at churches and wedding dresses. I have been waiting for Maxie and Nathan to get all cozy in wedded bliss. But, soon enough that relationship will go down the toilet and out to sea. Bah, caramba!!

Just no Donny. Rachel Ames is available to play Audrey, and does when written into the scripts. It is HER role, and as long as she is available REAL GH fans will never accept anyone else in the role, not matter how esteemed. Fact. TPTB just choose not to utilize the character. Love Erika, but this is GH. The OLTL ship has sailed and GH needs to stop being a “retirement home” for out-of-work stars from cancelled shows.

Tristan, I recall reading years ago that Rachel Ames retired, and she’s only really returned for the 50th Anniversary episodes and that one shot where she was at a desk writing letter to Elizabeth for her wedding explaining why she couldn’t attend. Sounds like favors to me, her being willing to come out of retirement for the integrity of the character of Audrey to be protected for the fans.
And Donny, that sounds nice and all, and I love Erika Slezak, but with Slezak living on the east coast, it’s likely not worth it to give her a role like Audrey, which is older than Slezak is, and completely marginalized. Hardly worth Slezak’s flyer miles to fly to L.A. to pop up for a wedding or a conversation over a cup of coffee with Liz. A character like Audrey is not likely to be driving major story ever again, regardless of who plays her.

I don’t want another vampire, even though they don’t really “die.” But the spooky Cassadine’s aren’t too far off from being immortal . How about Michael playing one of these dark, long lost family members..charming and good looking? Just can’t see him as a doctor, lawyer or on the PCPD. I get that Michael was treated poorly by RC and written abominably. But there are SO many other characters that could have been invited back as others here have stated. I just wish Valentini didn’t give his actions so little consideration from one day to the next.

I am so excited that Michael is returning to GH! I am one of the many that continued to campaign for his return after his dismissal. He is a total class act and charismatic actor. I’m excited to see what he does with his new character. I’m guessing this time that he will be front and center in storyline and not relegated to the back burner. If they pair him with Kelly again, that would be great, but if not, that’s okay too. I’m just glad to have him back on our TV screens again! Bravo to GH for listening to the fans on this one!

Michelle Stafford is amazing! I miss her as Phyllis because Gina has no spark in her portrayal as Phyllis. Now, Nina, I love her but not with Franco. I dont think they spark. I want Franco with Liz. It would be interesting and it would pizz Jason off! Well, if he is awake! BTW, a Monica sighting AND a Felicia sighting in the SAME episode? Crazy!

I actually agree with Patrick in this only because Michael E. always gives off a cool, hip vibe and Laura to date not so much. The actual years don’t matter but as much as the match. Kassie DePaiva is almost ten years older than Roger but they fit perfectly on OLTL.
Richard Burg (Paul) os only 57…Jane Elliott is 68. I could see him with Laura…vibe-wise…but not as the evil incarnate he is.
Carlos is almost a decade older than Sabrina…well…the actor is in real life and they supposedly go way back. Haven’t seen too much mentioned on that disparity…
Thrilled! As a long time GHer, I can still appreciate a talented and handsome actor.. and he technically is not a “OLTL” actor.. he started on Days, was a core character on Port Charles, OLTL, then GH.. he is a talented SOAP actor and GH is lucky to have him! While GH has always been and remains my favorite soap, I love many of the actors from AMC & OLTL & PC.. they are ABC actors and would love to see some more appearences on GH… I don’t care what show they were on before, its all about the role, the storyline, the chemistry.. why not bring in an established actor with a fan base? He is a very popular actor and I know I’m not the only fan thrilled with this news! I sure wouldn’t mind seeing Melissa Archer again too.. just because my first loyalties are to GH, does not mean I don’t want to see talented actors from other shows appear on GH… lord knows we have lost enough GHers to Y&R.

I have liked Michael Easton’s work (specifically Caleb on PC); however, why is GH suddenly turning into American Horror Story with actors playing multiple characters? I’ll have to admit that I’m pretty disappointed in Frank Valentini specifically because he made out this announcement to be bigger than I believe it was. I, too, was expecting a TRUE GH veteran return or veteran signed to a contract, but it appears that Mr. V is more determined to satisfied a smaller camp of GH fans along with his own appetite for revisiting OLTL characters in new GH roles instead of focusing on the RICH history that this show offers and the persistent veteran fans who have stayed with the show through good and bad (mostly bad for the past almost 15 years). So, of course it should come as no surprise when viewership drops…that’s the veteran viewers dwindling away.
I hope it is worth it for him..
I like that he will be someone new. It worked when they brought back the original Carly years ago to play Claudia Zaccara, but women can change hair color, body shape, etc.
Let see where this takes us, maybe a love interest for Elizabeth? Or a connection to Hayden? Maybe her ex??? Maybe a Bensenherst person for Olivia??

Well, thank goodness for that, Tristan. Those deep, piercing blues are too direct and clear to hold anything else but integrity. Then again, such a seasoned, well-rounded actor could assume any role and convince the boots out of me.
My interest is definitely piqued and my excitement abounding; I must say. It’s about time I felt this way over a soap again.
Although it’s been rumoured that he’ll be a mob boss, I think he’ll be Valentin Cassadine. This would tie him to a GH family, and lead to more character-driven stories for him, which is what the new head writers are famous for writing. Just because Paul mentioned ‘Dixon’ in a recent episode, it doesn’t mean it’s Michael’s new role. It would be interesting if ‘Dixon’ turned out to be Julian, who can’t give up the mob after all 🙂
I hope you are right, Miriam! I’ve previously suggested just that role for Mr. Easton….he would be fabulous. Perhaps he will first surface as this “Dixon” dude, but perhaps that is just an alias for another character, such as that aforementioned Cassadine! ‘Twould be the best of both worlds!

If Tristan/Robert stays beyond this burp… Romantically speaking Laura
would be a lovely fit for him, as he continues to work w/ Anna & Mac.

You mean MB suggesting yet another mob foil for himself to increase his storyline beyond what it already is? No, in all honesty I am wondering if it is the Kristina story that he suggested. Any mob story we would automatically assume was his idea, but the Kristina story is not “Sonny-style,” so it would be interesting if it is the one MB suggested.

My sentiments exactly. Why did FV think it’s smart to alienate real GH viewers with making a big announcement about a OLTL actor and to add salt to the wounds revolve that character around Sonny, a polarizing character.
Agreed, Justin. I though the big big news was going to be the signing of Tristan Rogers to a contract. I like Mr. Easton, actually, but I am disappointed in the announcement, and saddened if he really is Dixon, the mobster. As if we need someone else who will lose to St. Sonny, or just be another bad guy, when GH needs more GOOD GUYS!!!
At least Sonny is a legacy character.
I am groaning with you, Alan. However, if Easton’s role is, as I suggested, an undercover lawman, then, have at it…..he can connect with Sonny as much as he wants. Thing is, Sonny is like Victor Newman. He never gets caught. Nine lives? No. These guys have infinite lives.
