It was a great night for primetime soapy dramas at the 48th annual NAACP Image Awards and some familiar faces to daytime audiences. First, Sterling K. Brown took top honors for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Randall Pearson on NBC’s This Is Us.  In attendance supporting Brown were his fellow castmates former Y&R star, Justin Hartley and Chrissy Metz, who play Brown’s siblings on the smash hit NBC show.

Empire took two top honors! First, for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series to Taraji P. Henson for her performance as Cookie Lyon, and Henson’s on-screen son, Jussie Smollett took top Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Jamal.

In the Outstanding Drama Series, the award went to Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey’s Queen Sugar, which has in its cast Days of our Lives star, Greg Vaughan as Calvin.

Two other performers who got their start in soaps took acting honors as well. Laurence Fishburne (Ex-OLTL) took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role on black-ish, and Tichina Arnold (Ex-Ryan’s Hope) took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role on Remorse. View the entire winners roll call list here.

Terrence Howard-Lucious should have recieved the award.
Lucious has it going, great acting.

Taraji P. Henson-Cookie is good but not great.
Cookie is the same scene over and over again..

Jussie Smollett-Jamal Lyon is good but his rap style is snoozy .

Bryshere Hakeem-Lyon Gray(Yazz) is much better/great.

So. I am disappointed..

It was great seeing Greg Vaughn there for Queen Sugar and Justin Hartley and cast there to support Sterling K. Brown for ThisIsUs. That made me happy.

Alison Sweeney Reveals She Is Making A Return To DAYS In 2020

Looks like Sami Brady will be back in action on NBC’s Days of our Lives later in the New Year, according to Alison Sweeney, Sami’s portrayer.

During a visit on Friday to the set of Hallmark Channel’s morning talker Home & Family, to promote her upcoming holiday film for the network entitled, Time For You To Come Home For Christmas, Sweeney chatted it up with hosts Cameron Mathison and Debbie Matenopoulos.

During her segment, Alison revealed “Sami is back, causing some trouble.”  But she was quick to note that it will be awhile before she is seen on-air clarifying “My scenes are not going to air until next Summer, next August.”

Sweeney promised the viewers and DAYS fans that there was great stuff coming up with her visit.  And if Sweeney’s last few returns are any indication, whatever is cooking in and out of Salem that may bring her back on to the canvas, we know it will be juicy, because when Sami is around the pot gets stirred!

So, excited to hear Alison will be back on your DAYS screens in 2020? Comment below.
