NASHVILLE'S Claire Bowen Talks Scarlett's Professional and Romantic Downfall!

As we saw on last week’s episode of ABC’s Nashville, Scarlett (Claire Bowen)  is having a very difficult time handling the pressures of the music business and dealing with the fall-out from her romantic relationships with Gunnar (Sam Palladio), Avery (Jonathan Jackson), and feeling betrayed by her best friend, Zoey (Chaley Rose).   The singer-songwriter thus began taking some “pills'” (thanks to her new record producer) to get her through and keep her going under the demand of show biz.

But as the story continues tonight on an all-new episode (Wed Feb 5th 10PMEST/PST), we see Scarlett take some more pills!  So where is this all leading?  TV Guide spoke to the uber-talented Claire Bowen to get some insight into Scarlett’s plight!  Here are a few excerpts below!

Claire on Scarlett’s failed personal relationships:  “She’s been treated like a doormat by so many people, and she has let it happen because she’s respected them and loved them. … I hope that she lets go of her need to please people. That’s something I’ve been through as well. Eventually, somebody breaks you and you’re like, ‘Oh … OK.’ And it’s not a selfish thing. It’s self-preservation, I think.”

Claire on where Scarlett’s relationship is headed with Avery (Jonathan Jackson) now that he seems to be transfixed by Juliette (Hayden Panettiere):  “You can’t tell what’s going to happen in life.  You’ve watched Avery’s]character develop into a much more level, stable, amicable person who’s a bit happier for other people now. And that’s the boy she fell in love with. … It’s just like, holy s—, there’s this boy that I fell in love with years and years ago. You’re back. Because he disappeared for a long time.”

Claire on the pressure Scarlett is having in her professional life that leads her to popping-pills:  “I think she’s coming to the end of her tether, really.  She didn’t anticipate any of this at all. … She didn’t have any grand ideas of being a performer. She just created things. So the whole thing, it’s a big rollercoaster for her.”

So, what do you think of the story turn where it looks like Scarlett will become dependent on pills?  Who do you want Scarlett to end up with ….Gunnar, Avery or someone new?  Do you think Scarlett can ever truly forgive Zoey for winning the heart of Gunnar?  Weigh-in!

I pray that the writers do not make this show too dark & depressing, I know that they do need to cdeate drama but sometimes it turns viewers off & ruins a show. Gunnar & Scarlett could be pure magic together & I want to see that that relationship evolve & blossom. Some happiness is being ordered.

Hmmmmm…I like the character of Scarlett very much. As I recall…she dumped Gunnar. (Have to read a synopsis on that…don’t remember.) So though I LOVED them together I can’t blame him for moving on. It’s always tricky to see a friend with an ex, so I don’t know how her friendship with Zoey will pan out. Though I love Jonathan Jackson and his character Avery, I’m liking him a lot with Juliette. And…I was hoping for a Gunnar/Scarlett reunion…really liked them together. But now I’m not so sure if I want them back together either! Zoey’s a boring but stable… Read more »

Her voice reminds me of a wounded humming bird that fell from its nest on my roof. I thought it was dead, so I got a dust pan and was going to throw it in the sewer because I didn’t want ants to get to it and start eating it and he was still breathing so I got the ladder and put it back in the nest. Main point, her voice is unique, but her mannerisms when she lifts her arms a little while she sings is irritating, pretty much like if I laid the bird there -I’m pretty sure… Read more »

I hate the way they have thrown in the drugs with Scarlett’s story. I don’t think she is all that well written to begin with and this isn’t going to make anything better.

Breaking News

Ex-Nashville and GL’s Hayden Panettiere’s Boyfriend Arrested After Allegedly Punching Her

More upsetting news involving former ABC and CMT’s Nashville star (Ex-Juliette Barnes), Hayden Panettiere.  According to various reports, the actress was punched by her boyfriend Brian Hickerson with a closed fist in an incident that occurred in Wyoming, over the Valentine’s Day weekend.  He was arrested around 2:30am on February 14th.

According to TMZ: the police report said that Hayden revealed that she and Brian were in their bedroom when he started throwing her around and punched her.  The Teton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a disturbance at a private residence. That caller said an intoxicated male was locked out of the home because he punched his girlfriend in the face.

Pantierre’s face was red and swollen, and she also had a scrape and swelling on her left hand; which she believed came from Hickerson’s watch during the altercation.  Deputies then decided to book Hickerson for domestic battery. He was also hit with a second charge of interfering with a police officer for allegedly refusing to identify himself.

Things looked like they had taken a turn for the better before the incident, noting that the couple moved past another altercation previously from 2019.  That case was dismissed, although he has left red marks on Pantierre’s body, because they could not find a “material witness”.

Hayden and Brian have been dating since 2018.  Daytime fans remember first seeing Hayden as a young Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light.  She played Juliette on Nashville from 2012-2018.

So what do you think about the latest incident involving Hayden? Comment below.

WATCH: Jonathan Jackson + Enation’s New Music Video “The Days Are Evil”

Five-time Daytime Emmy winner from General Hospital, and former Nashville star, Jonathan Jackson (Ex-Lucky, Ex-Avery) has released a new music video for the new single “The Days Are Evil” along with his band Enation.

The music video features shots of Jackson in a very dark incarnation, and the track will also appear on Jackson + Enation’s upcoming album due out later this fall, Ultraviolet Empire.

Jonathan says of the new album: “Our new album, Ultraviolet Empire, is a throwback record. It’s a record we played together live in the studio. Most of the songs are one take -just letting the band play.  It was amazing playing with our co-producer Colin Linden and capturing something so raw and visceral.”

This will be the band’s follow-up to their 2017 album  Anthems for the Apocalypse and their successful 2018 tour in Europe opening for Echo & The Bunnymen,

Check out the music video featuring Jonathan released this week below.

Then, let us know, should Lucky return to Port Charles for the Nurses’ Ball with his band and play a tune off the new album next spring? Will Jonathan come home to GH for a guest appearance? Will you be checking out the new music from him in the coming months? Comment below.

RENEWALS: How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s Anatomy CANCELLATIONS: Life In Pieces, Star

The last 36 hours have seen some of your favorite primetime dramas renewed and others canceled; several of which feature former or current soap stars.  ABC has renewed for its upcoming sixth season How to Get Away with Murder.  During its fifth season, the series ranked as the No. 1 program in Thursday’s 10 PM slot in key demos: Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34.

How To Get Away With Murder stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who, with five of her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot.  The ensemble cast includes: Rome Flynn (Ex-Zende of The Bold and the Beautiful) who plays the key role of Gabriel Maddox.

Upon learning of the cancellation, King took to her Instagram and shared: “Thank you for bringing me into the Life In Pieces family and for making it such a fun four years. I have so much love and respect for everyone who was involved in this show. Thank you to the amazing cast and crew, and thank you to our amazing leaders Justin Adler, @kaplanaaron , and Jeff Morton . I am forever grateful.”

Finally, Lee Daniels series on Fox, Star, which has been a companion to his hit sudsy Empire, was also canceled after its 3rd season.  Star followed three talented singers – running from their pasts and desperate for a new start – with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cutthroat music business.  It has been reported by various outlets that the showrunners will be looking for another home for the series to try to continue it on.
