Since last week’s ratings, On-Air On-Soaps fans of Days of our Lives have been posting their critiques and criticisms over the basement dwelling position of the folks in Salem.  Now the new ratings have come out for the week of October 11-15 and we can report that DAYS slightly improved in the ratings to #5 out of six soaps with an increase of total viewers of 75,000.

However, the converse is true for One Life to Live which shot up to #4 last week.  While it is still holding on to that position, the show lost the most viewers of any soap last week with a slide of soapers totaling a minus 108,000!   The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful were the only other soaps besides DAYS to have an increase of viewers for that week.

After the jump check out the official ratings supplied by Soap Opera Network!

Ratings for the week October 11-15, 2010

the other soaps are boring. One life to live is exciting. It should be #1 not #4

Nothing is going to change at GH until they get new writiers!!!

the ratings for DAYS went up as people are tuning in to see James Scott. EJ was in a coma for more than a month while Sami was all over Rafe. Nobody cared much for them and now that EJ is back, people want to see him. Having their lead actor in a coma cost DAYS alot of viewers. They are going to have to do major damage control to increase their viewings even more. I am a James Scott and EJ fan first and Im also a die hard EJAMI fan. I can’t for EJ to take rafe down.

Producers and writers please listen to the fans! But, the fans and some soap magazine critics have to understand that new characters (newbies – hate that word) have to be introduced, in order to keep story going. This is a difficult time for soaps and we have to hang in there and applaud the shows when something is done right and voice our opinions constructively, when we feel something is off.

I am really concerned for my ultimate soap Days of our Lives!! They really have made some bad bad choices this year and now the show is paying for these bad decisions. KC shouldn’t tell US what couple we want to see, now look what has happened to the ratings since he practically told us no more Ejami and Safe is the direction they are going. He destroyed this whole entire summer of Ejami and with the shooting certainly grossed out many viewers of all ages. Second bad choice putting one of his lead characters in a coma for almost a month!! Thus, putting safe in the limelight boring viewers to death with same old same old, and the storyline could not go anywhere without Ej!! So yes, now the ratings will start to go up because Ej/JS is up and about and now this story can start moving along. Third bad choice is taking away all the romance, there are no decent couples anymore, the only one they do have is Bricole. So pls pls for this show do not break them up too. They add a fresh exciting element to this show. I suggest keeping all the couples that have history and chemistry together. There is rally going on to bring Bope back together. Breaking them up was a very very silly mistake imagine all the viewers they have lost considering Bope has been a couple for oh about 20 years!! Also this show needs a revamp, modernise the entire outlook of this show. Ejami are perfect example of a modern couple, they make an awesome Mr and Mrs Smith type couple oozing power, passion and action with a touch of humour. If you get the story right, they would be out of this WORLD!! The bed wrestle is exactly what I am talking about, with Ejami it does not have to the white picket fence and perfect family story. No, with them it can be so so powerful and action packed I get excited just thinking about the potential they could bring. I have a feeling Rafe is kind of popular not really my cup of tea, but I think it would be better to give him his own story, something fresh and original romance with maybe Stephanie or even Jennifer. That is exactly what this show needs, Modernisation!!

ITA and just want to add if they would just do what they keep talking about and bring back the romance, family, good writing, and fast moving sl the ratings would improve. Keep force feeding us things we don’t want like Safe and drawn out sl and the ratings will continue to decline.

Not everyone wants to see Ejami, as there are many Safe and Ejole fans out there. There are even many Lumi fans waiting for Lucas’ return. Many viewers are tired of the “Sami and/or EJ” show. There are other cast members, many of them vets, that we want to see as we care about them. Also, if the stories weren’t so predictable and so long and drawn out, perhaps viewers wouldn’t abandon the show having more of a vested interest. You can stop watching for a month, and when you return it’s as if you haven’t left at all. Gotta get some of these stories moving along ASAP!

I agree with Jackie’s post about OLTL.

I agree with Sheree’s comments about Days. I, too, am an EJami fan. What have they done with our Samantha Gene? Made her into a murdering monster! And allowing her son and boy friend to help her in the cover up. We had EJami love this summer but the writers were only teasing us to keep us watching. Did they take notice of the ratings going down because of the horrible attempted murder and our favorite in a coma for almost a month? James Scott and Alison Sweeney are a gold mine and TPTB need to utilize and capitalize on their talent. They could have so much fun writing for EJ and Sami – maybe they need to watch some of the old videos and get a clue as to their charm and attraction to the viewers out here in cyberspace.

I am a long time viewer. JS and AS are not a goldmine to all viewers. Some of us are plain out sick and tired of them, and actually wait for days (no pun intended) when neither is on so we can sit back and enjoy the characters we do care about. Bo and Hope are still a supercouple and deserve more onscreen time!

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali

Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.

Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).

Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier).  However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).

Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”

“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.

Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”

In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.

So, looking forward to seeing Franco LoPresti’s debut come Monday? What do you think about the fact that it’s being reported as a limited run? Do you think Dante and Sami have a chance on-screen or off-screen to be a happy couple? What do you really think brings Dante to Salem sans Sami? ‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others

Published

Chad and Belle

As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.

As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.

So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

CHECKMATE?

In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.

The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”

Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.

LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?

In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”

In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”

Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?

So, what do you think about some of the highlights coming up this fall on Days of our Lives per the series head writers? Does anything float your boat or pique your interest? If so, what? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out the action next week on DAYS in the promo entitled “Bag of Tricks” below.
