General Hospital

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny Makes The Heartbreaking Decision About Mike In Episode With Touching Performances

For anyone who has gone through losing a loved one to Alzheimer’s Disease, Wednesday’s episode of General Hospital would bring them right back to the place they found themselves in when faced with the difficult decision of what to do when there is no more hope, when the disease has progressed to its most advance stages, and wanting the person they love to die with what dignity they have left.

Through Sonny’s journey played beautifully by Maurice Benard, we see a son who wants to do what he can to prolong his father’s life, holding on to the moments where there seemed to be some signs of life within his dad, and not wanting the guilt of being the person to make the ultimate decision – in this case to put Mike (Max Gail) on a feeding tube, when he no longer has the desire to eat.

Wanting to move forward with the procedure to have a feeding tube put into Mike, Sonny runs into Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) who tells him about Yvonne, and how she is at GH on a feeding tube and a ventilator and strapped to a bed.

When Sonny sees how Yvonne is hooked to machines, it is a real awakening for him,  That, coupled with one of the most important talks and moments in the Alzheimer’s storyline when Sonny speaks to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst)  – who tells him how she sees Mike, who is now a shell of himself, who doesn’t smile, doesn’t eat, and so forth – Sonny is aware of what he truly needs to do.  These scenes they were played to perfection by Rebecca Herbst and Maurice Benard, and couple that with Laura Wright and Steve Burton as a concerned and emotional Carly and Jason; seeing how this situation is ripping Sonny apart, and also facing that Mike will die, they too are devastated and delivered hankie-filled moments in their scenes.

The final minutes of the episode featured father and son in a simple, quiet, and powerful scene where Sonny tells his dad, he is not going to have a procedure, and that it’s OK for him to go.   Mike, in tears, hears what Sonny is saying and is relieved.  Sonny has set him free to die, and now Sonny must face his decision – a selfless one that any of us who have been in this position know has to be done for their loved one; so there will be no more suffering and no more pain.  Kudos to GH for today’s scenes in this storyline.

Watch the scene between Sonny and Elizabeth below.

Kassie DePaiva Back as Eve on DAYS; What Did You Think of the Shocking Reveal?

If you caught Wednesdays’s episode of Days of our Lives, you know that Ben’s (Rob Scott Wilson) captor was revealed.  After many theories by fans on social media since Ben and Ciara’s (Victoria Konefal) wedding literally blew up in their faces, with Ben being kidnapped, it all came down to this moment.

Then, in a great entrance; soap veteran Kassie DePaiva made a return to the NBC soap opera as Eve Donovan, the woman behind the kidnapping.

It all goes down in a warehouse (somewhere yet to be determined to the audience)  where we see Ben strapped to a chair and man dressed in black coming into the room where he is being held introducing himself as Vincent played by actor Michael Teh.

Vincent tells Ben he blew up his wedding and was paid to do so by his employer.   The henchmen also notes that said employer is also the same person who sent the other wedding gift- that was the one that Ben thought Clyde (James Read) to be behind.

Ben wants to be released but Vincent takes a baton and strikes Ben’s leg as he yelps in pain, and then, lo and behold, from the doorway we hear, “That’s enough Vincent.”

Just then, Eve says she will ‘take it from here’ as Ben watches her in shock.  What will Eve’s next move be?  Has she snapped?  Is this payback for what Ben did for murdering her daughter, Paige?  Is Eve working with someone else for money as well to harm Ben and Ciara?

DePaiva tweeted on her return: “I’m baacckk!@nbcdays watch out Ben!”

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: Sally Reveals Her Plan To Nab Wyatt; Katie Lowers The Boom On Bill

BOLD is back!  On Tuesday, July 21st, the CBS Daytime drama, The Bold and the Beautiful aired its first original episodes in months, and should be congratulated not only for being the first soap back in production, but who also, in short order,  got new episodes on the air starting with today.

And, there was plenty of action in the first show back amid the coronavirus pandemic.  So, here’s the key points of what went down.

Photo: JPI

Sally (Courtney Hope) and Dr. Escobar (Monica Ruiz) wind up tying an unconscious Flo (Katrina Bowden) to a radiator after the doc conked her over the head previously, when Flo found out Sally’s been faking her illness.  Meanwhile, Wyatt (Darin Brooks) comes by Sally’s place, and sees how the place is in complete disarray.  A concerned Wyatt phones Sally who lies that she fell, and is with her doctor getting checked out.

When Wyatt tells Sally he wants to be there for her, she takes that to the extreme.  Dr. Escobar goes on how they will be arrested for kidnapping Flo.  Sally, who is becoming more unglued, says under her breath:“The threat of just losing me isn’t enough.”  Just then, Flo wakes up and is in for a rude awakening when she realizes she is kidnapped and tied up.  Flo thinks Sally has lost it.   Sally tries to reason to her that they never meant for this to happen, but she is going after Wyatt.  Flo warns her she won’t get him like this way  … and then Sally says this is the perfect moment for her to get pregnant due to what the app says on her phone, and she will have Wyatt’s children and a family,   Then, angry and vindictive, Sally tells Flo in no uncertain times: “I refuse to lose to you. I’m going to have Wyatt’s baby.”

Elsewhere at Forrester Creations, Katie (Heather Tom) and Bill (Don Diamont) get into a discussion about the consequences he must face for kissing Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), but he doesn’t know what Katie is about to say.  She says she believes he’s sorry. and she loves him very much, but she doesn’t know if she can forgive him this time.  Bill attempts to reason with Katie, by saying that “Bitch Quinn” (Rena Sofer) weaponized his kiss with Brooke and made them collateral damage.  All he wants is to come home.  However, Katie has other plans and wants them to tell their son, Will, what is going on between them … they’re separated and they may not get back together.  It should be noted that Heather Tom, who just won her record-tying sixth Daytime Emmy, proved again why she is a multi-winner with her performance in these scenes.

And at the beach house, Liam (Scott Clifton) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) talk over the current state of their lives; where he realizes and so does she, that something more has to be in her life than raising a baby and work.  Cue the new doctor in town (Tanner Novlan as “Finn”) later this week!
