Oprah Winfrey Endorses John Fetterman over Dr. Oz, Whose TV Career She Helped Launch Into Stardom

By Michael Fairman

As midterm election day in America is now five days away, Oprah Winfrey, put her full support for the hotly contested Pennsylvania Senate race behind John Fetterman, and not Dr. Mehmet Oz, who owes his entire career as a television personality and celebrity to Winfrey.

Oz began his TV career as a health expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the early 2000s for over 5 years, which eventually led to Oprah producing Oz’s own daytime talk show.

Later, The Dr. Oz Show bowed in 2009 and ran for 13 seasons before he called it quits to move from New Jersey to Pennsylvania to run for the Senate. Both Winfrey and Oz were multi-Daytime Emmy-winners during their show runs.

During a virtual town hall on Thursday night, Winfrey endorsed Oz’s Senate opponent: “I said it was up to the citizens of Pennsylvania and of course, but I will tell you all this, if I lived in Pennsylvania, I would have already cast my vote for John Fetterman for many reasons.” Winfrey also went on to endorse other Democratic candidates in Governor and Senate races around the country.

Brittany Yanick, a spokesperson for Dr. Oz said of Oprah’s endorsement of Fetterman: “Doctor Oz loves Oprah and respects the fact that they have different politics. He believes we need more balance and less extremism in Washington.”

Fetterman said in a statement that it was, “An honor and privilege to have Oprah’s support in this race. She is a leader on so many issues — fighting for our democracy, passing common-sense gun reform, and ensuring racial justice. I’m grateful for Oprah’s support and trust on the issues that matter to people across the country and Pennsylvania as we close out this campaign.”

So, what do you think of Oprah endorsing Fetterman instead of Oz for the Pennsylvania Senate seat, when she launched his daytime and TV career? Share your thoughts below.

Just wish it didn’t take her so long. I remember seeing Oz’s first day on the Oprah show years ago. The subject was all about poop. It was funny, but he made a sensitive subject informative. What a disappointment he turned into.

rose
I remember that crazy show, but my friends and I dwelled on the subject for days, ” does it sink or float?” was so important then.

Violet…Happy Time Change…You have a great memory. If any good came from that for me it got me into probiotics gut health. You even put us back to MF page about Oz with your reply to Jaybird. Wish his name wasn’t Oz. Takes away from one of my favorite movies. And wizard he ain’t. Well maybe closer to the character than I thought behind his door. :)))

Agree entirely.

Oprah is nothing but a fraud! She is only supporting Fetterman because she has a grudge against Dr. Oz. He made her so much money and because he chose to do something else in his life, service his country and not be a money grubber like Winfrey, she has a problem with him! Oprah made millions at Sirius XM and never lived up to her contract and provided the content she “Promised!” John Fetterman is a nobody. She doesn’t know a damn thing about this guy. He isn’t Oz and he is a democrat, that’s why she is backing him! Another Hollywood “Star” who sticks her nose into something she is not qualified to do. Fetterman was a mayor of a small town the size of a postage stamp that was and still is riddled with crime. Fetterman has never worked a day in his life! Everything has been handed to him. Dr. Oz has worked hard in his field to help folks get healthy. He is smart. He saves lives! He walked away from millions of guaranteed money to become a Senator. That is passion. That is commitment. That is being a true patriot!

Well said.

The “true patriot” Oz is still a Turkish citizen. Who also lives in New Jersey. Neither of which qualifies him to be a Senator from Pennsylvania.

Oz might have been a great surgeon at one point in his life (much like former brain surgeon Ben Carson) but he threw all that away to cash in on TV stardom, sleazy supplement scams, and eventually right wing politics, including an association with a certain bloated Orange turd.

Since Oprah helped create Oz, the “celebrity”, it’s only right that she contributes to his downfall, even though it’s a little late.

As for John Fetterman, he’s a man of the people. And he knows how to buy a veggie tray in a grocery store, for Hell’s sake! He will be the best Senator PA has had in decades.

Satan, as usual you are inspired! I used to cackle at that shyster Oz touting the next junk product that will “forever change your life….right after these commercials.” Wow, must be really important! Heck, he was embarrassing on “THE $100,000 PYRAMID”; I can only imagine the debacle he’d be in Congress.

Satan, Oz isn’t perfect. You do make some valid points. I will admit, like in some of the presidential elections in the past, I am going with the lessor of two evils here and to me, its Oz.

Patriot? Try Quack. Disproven treatments – just in it for the money and fame.

By all accounts, he is a great surgeon and not such a great pitchman. I get it.

I agree with everything you said

I have been waiting to see if she’d weigh in and for which candidate. So happy she landed on the right side of history with her endorsement! And at that, I’ll stop before I make any further political non-soap comments. :0)

Oprah agrees with Fetterman’s policies. Her endorsement is purely an ideological one.

Dr. Oz is a scumbag and it’s about time Oprah endorsed Fetterman!

As the ungodly flaunt their ways of decedent evils against God. They stand proudly boasting their powers of wealth and social standing. But the true decisions will be made by the will of God. Will He spare our Nation from the desasterous hands of Sodomite worship and the blood sacrifice of innocent babies. Or is his judgement passed for Americas ultimate destruction.

Hello! I didn’t know you posted here, Margaret White! Give my best to your daughter, Carrie.

Most unholy congratulations to Senator-elect John Fetterman for his win last night!

Did Oprah help him any with her late endorsement? Maybe… maybe not. Now… as strange as this is going to sound, coming from the Devil…. let’s hope the Reverend Senator Warnock can also pull out a win. Still too close to call when I shut off HellCable News for the night.
