Just as fans were starting to dig evil Ricky Williams, now comes word that the actor who portrays him, Peter Porte,  has finished taping at The Young and the Restless.

In the latest edition of Soap Opera Uncensored, Nelson Branco reports that the news of Porte’s exit is, “Too bad, since the improved actor has finally been winning over fans and critics with his surprisingly intense and compelling performance of a man unhinged.  Expect a sensational climax and conclusion in Ricky’s storyline that involves Daisy and Phyllis.”

Just when Porte’s final airdate in Genoa City is  has yet to be discovered as the intensity has been turned up this week several notches in the Ricky/Phyllis/Daisy storylines!!

So what do you think of the news of Porte’s departure? Were you expecting it?  Or, were you hoping that they would redeem the character and keep him on long term?  But as we know on Y&R, never say never, characters can come back, even from the dead!  What are your thoughts on how Ricky will be written out?  Let us know!

Saw that one coming. It was only a matter of time.

Saw that one comimg from the moment Ricky was paired with Daisy.

Question is: Who turns on whom?

Murder? or Suicide? or both?

No unexpected; but that handsome young guy was spookily convincing as a man unhinged! Congrats to Peter on a great run. Hope to see him again somewhere else!

I saw this coming he was leaving after he tape what phyllis was saying to nick and of couse he was not going to get a way with murdering daisy and setting some up. I am glad that is not MG that was not leaving the show.

I think it is unfortunate. If he had had the quality of wirting before that he is getting now, he would have had a lot of fan support. Happens way too often on Y&R with the new actors to the show. The writing is weak when they start out. He’s talented but was hindered by writing. Now he’s showing what he can do and he’s out. Sadly this isn’t a new occurrence.. Sorry to hear he is out. Wasted potential!

I loved watching Ricky/PP I tried not to
get invested in a newbie,but Ricky/PP
was really knocking the ball out of the
park.I wish MAB would keep Ricky and
make him a gray character not the town
Psycho.I loved the Ricky/Daisy dynamic.
Oh well maybe Peter Porte talents will
be better utilized elsewhere.

Knew the minute he turned evil, it was all over for Peter. Good actor, nice guy, sorry to see him go.

I saw it coming too. It’s too bad. If they are smart, they will not kill him off – just have him join his mama at the mental facility so he can come back some day.

Poor naive Daisy will most likely be killed off (by Ricky). You could see he was already plotting it. He was almost like a killer in the way that he said he had something on Phyllis that he would use for later, but didn’t tell Daisy it was Phyllis saying she could “kill her.” I see the frame up coming and Phyllis will probably miscarry the baby due to all the stress.

I can’t remember who the person who posted on this board that they hated the actors tweeting when they were leaving or other sources because it ruins the whole plot line I agree with you. Even though I knew it was going to happen when they mentioned two weeks ago about Daisy it does tend to take the fun out of it! Personally it could make great story for Paul if they would have kept him on with Paul having to finally admit he was a deadbeat Dad. And to try to help his son since he just dumped him on crazy Isabella’s parents. MAB once again missed the boat on this one.

Bring him back as a different character, change his look hair color style that way he can stiil stay on 🙂

Stick with your ‘modeling’ career, bud – acting isn’t your strongest suit

Keep the dead weight coming, Maria Arena Bell!!

WHAT!! He´s a great actor and I am not the only one who means that. He play the part to perfection

Once I saw him get the voice recording of Phyllis threatening Daisy, I was sure he would kill Daisy to frame Phyllis. I guess it is still possible since Daisy was written out before Ricky but alas, one of the few good additions to the show is now gone.

Good bye Ricky – glad to see you go !!!
Maybe Phyllis will off the creep and have Daisy take the fall.
Since Ricky and Daisy are both leaving the show – it would kill two birds with one stone.

This badly written show has sacrificed another character. Maria Bell writes choppy, one note stories, that are not satisfying.

Saw that coming long ago. There’s more that need to go like MAB she is determine to destroy this show . Sick to Depth of the Newman show. There’s more citizens in Genoa City than the all mighty Newmans.

It’s a shame–really was the only scenes worth watching–the rest of the show is abismal

Glad he’s leaving….wish he would take Paul with him. I know a lot of people may not like me saying that, but that’s how I feel… So sick of Paul and all of his crazy relatives causing problems. And why is it, he is always so slow to come to the conclusion that these relatives are absolutely nuts and dangerous?

Easy….because he is the WORST DETECTIVE EVER! Paul is an even lousier detective than he is a father. I agree…curtains for Paul..he is useless. Now can I get a high-five for the divorce of Michael and Lauren? Lauren has had the same hair since 1988. Someone is always after her and its old. She is an anchor keeping Michael from reaching his full potential. Please have Daisy kill her.

SO TEUE MISSING DRU PAUL IS A BAD FATHER AND A WORSE DETECTIVE!! HIGH FIVE TO YA ALSO FOR THE DIVORCE OF MICHAEL AND LAUREN,ITS NOT LIKE HER KIDS CLOTHING SHOP IS GOING TO SUPPOR T THEM !! LOL..

I think it is lame. The actor and character are one of the more interesting pieces of Y&R right now. There is only so much Phyllis, Victor, Sharon, Jack BS one can take.

Also what is there to even get excited about in this storyline now? Daisy and Ricky are both leaving. I guess Phyllis Newman wins again,

Lame.

noooo…ilike the trouble him and daisy cause!! it MAKES THE SHOW MORE FUN

Yep I liked those two mischief makers Daisy/Ricky.
That was the best s/l that provided some much
needed excitement. Now that Ricky/Daisy are leaving
I have nothng good to look forward to.I was happy
Ronan/Heather were coming back, but honey when
I found out Ricky was out I had a fit.

so true Tammy lol….WE NEED SOME MORE FUN AND MISCHIEF ON THIS SHOW!

Yes, this was predictable. The question is how long this story will go before we get answers? I also thought Ricky would be leaving and all his plotting would come back to kick him you know where . As far as Daisy, she is so ready to leave the show. There are no more surprises I do believe. There are too many actors on the show already, so let them be gone. I think something is going to happen with Phyliss and Ronan will save her. Sparks will fly!……and maybe baby surprise…

This fan wasn’t ‘digging’ him. Never had. Glad to see him go. Can we get some good stories now?

Very sorry to see Peter go. A waste of talent. Wish bigger and better things for him!

What is up with the newbies on this show? Does anyone new last longer than one story arc? With the exception of Avery??

I fail to see how Y&R is going to attract
a younger audience this summer.Oh and
I would advise the youngsters not to invest
in the newbies.

SO TRUE BENJAMAN ,WE NEED MORE THAN VICTOR CAUSING TROUBLE TO ADD SOME SPICE TO THIS SHOW!!

Just more proof that MAB and her monkey writers are complete idiots! Ricky should stay.

I was hoping Ricky would kill Daisy and use Phyliss’s recording of “I would kill her” to frame her. I would MUCH rather see Daisy go. I was SO EXCITED to see that Lily could possilbe be going to Austrailia! Unfortunately, Genuvive stepped up at the last minute. Ricky is one of the most interesting characters! How do I feel about his departure?….NO!!!!!!

By the way…MAB is going a great job! The show is MUCH improved.

i so agree with tammy amd karlie!! ricky and daisy were fun and micheviuos ,we need some baddies besides old victor! they should keep these two. im on facebook as Marishka Ruth Rosenkrans-Embreus if anyone wants to add me as a friend!!

They are fools @ Y & R. Peter Porte is gorgeous, a good actor, and unlike anything on daytime TV. Porte does not have a thing to worry about, he has looks and talent both, so maybe Y & R axing him is a blessing in disquise for him.

I for one will not be happy to see this exceptionally talented, gorgeous hunk of man leave the Y&R canvas! Boo!!! He has really turned the character of Ricky into a delicious baddie and with Y&R’s other resident baddie, Adam, on the back burner I didn’t seem to mind. Peter Porte was wasted because he’s easy on the eyes (understatement), and he can turn out a great performance as a tortured young man who’s a little (or perhaps a lot) twisted. Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that it would have been nice to see Ricky take his shirt off during one of his many trips to the GCAC workout facility, but all we got was Ricky toting a gym bag, stopping long enough to give his dad grief. What a waste!! I’m sure we’ll see Peter Porte again. Talent and looks like that will carry him far.

Hate to see Ricky/Peter Porte go – he is an excellent actor and the storylines keeps me to the edge of the seat. BTW hates when so many disses the show – Y&R is great – Okay maybe some storylines are borring and some actors poor (like Sophia and Harmony), but there is something for everyone. Stop watching if you dont like it!! – Happy minds 🙂 – reagarding people gets upset by the SORAS lately, I just have one thing to say – It´s a show not reality – calm down and enjoy it

Can’t wait until Ricky and Daisy are both gone. Sick of dragging this storyline.

Ricky Williams is the only person interesting about the show. I hate to see him go. It will be boring without him. Really sick of Phyllis.

I have been watching Y&R for a long time and the show has gotten stale. MAB saved it a bit when she took over, but now it’s become boring. PP as Ricky really made the show exciting for me again. He is good himself but has the ability to make others on screen with him even better. Now he is gone. What the hell? No wonder daytime shows are all getting the can. The ratings are low because it’s boring and here now we had a real villain who was good and interesting so what a wasteful thing to do to get rid of him just as the character and the writing are both finally melding together well. This show desperately needs a good villain and Ricky is evil, sexy, and eye catching. I will miss this actor playing this character.

I think this sucks..he played the part to perfection..and he is very sexy!!!

One of the sexiest men on the show and a very good actor.
He acts much better than many who are still on the series.
His mom Isabella retruns soon.It would have been better to see the family as a whole. dysfunctional and all.
I think Petere Porte got a better offer and his star is rising.

Getting rid of Ricky is a big mistake. Unfortunately, I don’t think he has the same fan base that Cane had when they wrote him off the show. No one will be signing petitions to get his character back. Too bad. He was adding a fantastic element to the show. He could have had some great story lines. They really do need to write off a few of the “older” characters whose story lines are mundane and repetitive. How many times do we have to see Victor and Jack fighting over something? And really, isn’t the whole Abby-Carmine kidnapping an almost exact replica of the Kevin-Angelina run away? Even down to him going out and buying her new clothes, and she being all excited about what’s in the bag. Come on!!

I am sad to see Peter Porte leave The Young and The Restless. I was starting to like him. I hope he lands another job on a soap. he would be a good comparision to Jason and sonny mob team on General Hospital .Him and Jason working together would be a hot and sexy combination.

Omg I agree, he would be awesome on General Hospital, I hope he joins also!!!

I am not happy he is leaving! I wanted to actually see him kill Daisy, and bring that bitch Phyllis down like he was starting to do.
He instantly became my favorite character.I used to really like the Adam character but not as much when they toned his badness down.
Ricky was the perfect psychopath and perfectly played by Peter Porte.
The months if not years of awesome storylines they could have written for a dark character like Ricky is endless.
Thumbs down to Y&R for killing off one of the best new characters (and actor) it has had in a longtime! On the other hand, years ago we thought Sheila was dead to,and she came back so can always hope they are smart and find a way to bring him back to wreak more havoc.

The news of his departure has made me sad & angry! The actor that played Ricky Williams plays that part perfectly. He was so good that he scared me sometimes. He kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what he was going to do next.
Also loved the scene with him topless, wow! He could have been shirtless all summer long!

I thought Ricky was sooo delcious to look at!! He is good actor as well. I will miss lookin at that eye candy!

I’m very dissapointed that Ricky is off the show, its made me sad and mad! Him and daisy are what made y&r so much more exciting and way better then it used to be… I was soo mad they killed him off! …
Lousy writers screwed things up!
Daisy and Ricky were the best part of this show! Peter Porte played the part perfectly as an evil villan, hes the reason why I looked forward to watching y&r everyday, now they killed him off! Very sad to see him go so soon!
Now y&r is gunna get boring again with the newmans same old fighting and that stupid company bs and carmine and annoying abby, and ronan and nina…
Daisy and Ricky YOU WILL BE MISSED! Hope so badly Ricky comes back or joins another show like General Hospital!

Peter was the best thing about the show. He was amazing and utterly spooky. I am sorry he is leaving the show but I am looking forward to seeing him in bigger things in the future. After all, his “Mom” did pretty good for herself.

I can’t believe Peter Porte was cut. He was a great actor and a great addition to story lines. I think it was a total mistake to let him go. Total mistake!

Totally agree Doug Davidson & Peter Porte deserve power performances of the week. You hear that Mr. Fairman!!!! Peter Porte finally proved he was more then a pretty face and Doug Davidson has always delivered when you write for him!!!!As far as I am concerned you could have gotten rid of those ABC folks Sorry!

I have to give them credit, however. This is playing out totally different then I had anticipated. Thought for sure that Ricky would be framing Phyllis for Daisy’s murder. With this they will have Paul on trial for murder, Daniel on trial for murder and Eden being the key too resolving both. Plus, having Michael as new DA trying to cover the fact that Lauren violated her probation. It was a surprising twist in what I thought would be another drab murder mystery.

GLAD HE IS GONE, HE NEVER REALLY FIT INTO THE STORYLINES, IT WAS AS IF THEY WERE FORCING HIM TO FIT. JUST WISH THEY HAD MADE IT BE PHYLLIS TO SHOOT HIM. EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT LIKE RICKY’S CHARACTER, LOVE THE FACT HE WAS GOING TO EXPOSE PHYLLIS. IT IS LONG OVER DUE. I WILL NOT MISS HIM AT ALL/

Can’t believe the dumb writers of Y&R killed off Ricky. Of all the characters to cut they get rid of the one who made the show interesting to watch again. Peter Porte was amazing in the role and a big improvement over the other bland younger actors on the show. Watching Kyle, Noah, Eden, Summer, Fen, and Daniel is like watching paint dry.

Oh well look on the brightside… Anita is back! yay??

I can tolerate Eden & Daniel, Kyle , Summer & Fen. They went from school aged kids to high school teens and youmg adults. When Diane was killed last summer, Kyle was maybe 12 or 13. Now he is twenty-one, drinking beer, having sex with Eden and working at Newman. Daisy teases Lauren about how cute Fen looks in his school clothes and when he returns from Canada he’s 16. It is completely unbelieveable and an insult to our intelligence.

I can’t believe the writers at Y&R killed Ricky. The storyline was becoming so exciting and he dies. If Y&R would like to kill some people how about we begin with Sharon, Lily, Cane, Genevive, Noah, Devon and Harmony. They are wasted space and story time. The character of Ricky is the most interesting they have had since Adam. Y&R had the potential to create a different storyline for Ricky. Oh, I would have loved to have been in Eden’s shoes and have Ricky chase me around his hotel suite. When someone looks like Peter Porte, you don’t let him go.

actuallly i like cane hes fine too they can keep him kill the rest and please bring ricky daisy sheila and sarah back it will be a hella of ride

‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast

Published

After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.

Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.

The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.

In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.

Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Photo: NBC

Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”

As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”

The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

Taking to his Instagram to celebrate the nominations, GH’s Bennett, enthused, “3 Critic Choice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to Hallmark Channel and to our nominated cast and nominated show and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?” Jumping first into the comment thread was one of his new GH co-stars, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) who expressed, “Yeah buddy!!!🔥🔥”

In the series, Bennett, the host and co-creator spends eight weeks guiding 10 aspiring actors through a series of “festive face-offs” and acting challenges alongside actors like soap opera notables, Hunter King (ex-Summer, Y&R) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS). Along the way, they develop their skills and a bond with one another. The show, which is available on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus, highlights LGBTQ+ representation with openly gay contestants vying to be the next Hallmark star.

It should be noted that Traitors received the most Critics Choice Real TV Award nominations with 6 nods, followed by Dancing with the Stars with 4.

Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?

Published

on

By

On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.

As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.

Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Courtesy/ABC

Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.

BROTHERLY LOVE?

Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”

With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”

BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE

Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”

So, who do you think will be the person to blow Cassius’ cover? Will it be Britt herself? Josslyn? Liesl? Brennan? Nina? Lulu? Rocco, Maxie, Cullum or someone else? Let us know your pick in the comment section.
