Days Of Our Lives
Peyton Meyer Exits Days of our Lives
Next week, it looks like Doug Williams III is heading out of Salem in a preview and official spoilers from Peacock and Days of our Lives. That means, that actor Peyton Meyer’s time on the long-running soap opera has come to an end, but what that also means is that since DAYS shoots so far ahead of new episodes dropping on the streamer, Peyton had exited the series over nine months ago.
In the latest preview for the action next in episodes the week of July 21-25, Doug III stops by the Horton house and says to Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), “I’m really sorry.” Julie responds, “You had a great deal of potential.” At that point, with his back up against the wall, Doug leaves town, which is also re-confirmed by a spoiler from the Friday, July 25th episode which says that Julie and Doug III share a bittersweet goodbye.
Meyer first appeared on DAYS back in early December of 2024 as part of the tribute to Doug Williams and the late Bill Hayes, after Doug passed away on the show. Viewers learned that Doug III also was serving prison time before arriving in Salem, as a throwback to the original Doug’s origin story. Later, it was revealed, he was lying to Julie and was the original thief behind stealing Alice Horton’s necklace in order to pay off a debt.

Doug III’s first scenes were with Julie at Doug’s gravesite, where she met her late husband’s grandson for the first time. A grieving widow, Julie immediately welcomed Doug III to the family, unaware of all the mischief he would end up causing!
In the romance department, Doug III caused trouble for Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate (Leo Howard) when he was aiming to hit the sheets with Holly. Later, he had sex with Arianna played by Marissa Reyes. The recent kidnapping plot which had Ari and Holly in dire straits has ties back to Doug III. The young man was in a great deal of debt with a loan shark and the said ‘shark’ was revealed to be the kidnapper.

Ahead of his debut last December, Meyer spoke to TV Insider, and revealed he had been balancing his time and his life in Nashville raising his son, to being in Los Angeles to tape DAYS. Meyer also spoke of how working on a soap has helped prepare him for the future.”Balancing the traveling between Nashville and L.A. and my son put me in such a challenging position that I had to use every ounce of strength I had in me to be able to show up and perform every day because I didn’t realize how difficult it was going to be,” shared Meyer. “It feels like someone paid me to go to an intense acting boot camp. I feel like I’ve learned so much as an actor, and that this boosted my career and my performance as an actor 10 times.”

Meyer’s previous credits include Dog with a Blog, Girl Meets World, American Housewife and He’s All That.
So, glad to see Doug III leave Salem after disappointing Julie and others? Were you hoping Peyton Meyer would have stayed on Days of our Lives for a longer period of time? Comment below, but first check out a preview for next week DAYS.
Don’t let the door hit ya where my Former Employer split ya. Good bye Little Dougie. And good riddance.
One of those absolutely pointless characters that ReRon created. He does that everywhere he goes. And never worthy of the name “Doug Williams”.
Rude much???
Not rude, just his opinion. I happen to agree with him about the Doug Ii character.
The writers dropped the ball with his character. They could have had his character redeem himself like his grandfather did. That would have been good for Julie to have someone from Doug’s family other than Hope. They started that direction but went way off track.
I think that’s what Ron C had intended, he was victim of the new writers.
I agree. I liked Doug and the fact that Julie had someone. Just because you don’t like his character certainly doesn’t make him a bad person. I personally hate to see him go.
I don’t want him to leave I was hoping Doug and Holly would end up together. I do understand that all that traveling when you have a young child at home would be rough. Best wishes to him on his future.
If the character was so unlikable that people want to see him go, that’s all on the writers. Probably Reron. I thought the idea had potential.
I respect your opinion, but based on my own background in show business, the idea needed much better conceptualization and execution for it to have ever worked. As it is, the whole affair was pointless and unworthy of Days’ rich history.
I hope he returns to the Days of our lives. Because I love Doug 3 the way with Holly chemistry when Julie and her husband the past (Poetry book) Smiliar Doug3/Holly hit a fit key love. Also, I love Julie be with Young doug3 with Family. Peyton Meyer so rock and great actor. Please come back.
Agreed.
Loved Doug. So sad he’s leaving . He’s a real cutie!
Sorry he is leaving. I like the actor, and I believe the character initially had a lot of promise. However, I suspect the vision for the character didn’t transition well between the outgoing and the incoming writing regimes. Regrettable. I’ll keep a lookout though for Peyton’s future work. I think he is quite talented.
I liked Doug III. Despite his poor decision making. But as hu.ans we all have made bad decisions in life.I would have loved to see him stay in Salem and made a mends with Julie and really turned his life into something great. But that’s just my personal opinion.
Sad to see Hom go. He just needed a better storyline.
I agree.
Sorry to see him leave. I liked the character and think Peyton made him likable despite the lousy decisions he made for his life.
Also agree that he was a much better match for Holly than boring, spoiled Tate.
Bye!
I truly believe he’s on a hiatus. And eventually there is going to be a story line that will require his presence.
He has turned into a decent actor, I think the writers failed him and the character
Doug III wasn’t a compelling character, I hope he gets something to show his chops.
He was a mid-actor who was given less than mid scripts in a role that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.
Wish I had posted that.
A stupid, stupid idea and badly executed story illogically sprung from such a rich history that the only thing this plot did was to cheapen the the memory of that history.
This news disappoints me, as I truly enjoyed the character of Doug (and Meyer’s performance). To me, Doug is more likeable than Taint [I mean “Tate”; :)]. I was hoping that he and Holly were the star-crossed lovers. I suppose the writers didn’t give him enough to do. I wish Meyer well with future roles!
I’m glad he’s gone. He never caught on.
Don’t be rude. If you jump it then Plus Dolly fans higher want him to come back more than Tally fans wants him leave. I’m sure possible he will returns and can happen. 🙂
Sad to see him go
The best acting that I saw him doing was when he finally showed some “personality” when grabbing the loan shark by the collar. For a moment, I was thinking, “Okay…there you are, Doug, my man!”
Keep him for Arianna they were a good couple.
