RATINGS: DAYS Has Solid Week Adds Total Viewers And Up In Key Demos!

The ratings are out for the week of September 15th-19th and it was NBC’s Days of our Lives which was the only network soap to gain in total viewers! DAYS tallied in at 2,534,000 adding +34,000!

Looks like as things were heating back up between Sami (Alison Sweeney) and EJ (James Scott), Chad (Billy Flynn) was making his presence known in Salem, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) was trying to move on with her life away from Bo, and admitting she has feelings for Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove), Eric (Greg Vaughan) was making a sacrifice to help save John (Drake Hogestyn), these story points and other helped the series also show gains in the key Women’s demos as well: DAYS was up in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54!

In fact, DAYS was the only soap to gain viewers in the female 25-54 category.  And DAYS was also the only soap not to lose viewers in the 18-34 Women’s demo.

The Young and the Restless lost the most total viewers for the week losing -180,000 and dropping its 1st place lead to 4,522,000! And the number one soap also lost the most viewers in the women’s 25-54 demo!

General Hospital which was full of surprises on-screen during the ratings period was down in total viewers ever so slightly -7,000, but still close to the 3 million mark with 2,996,000!  In addition, GH added some viewers in the Women’s 18-49 and 18-34 demos. The Bold and the Beautiful lost viewers in all key demos, but only was down -9,000 in total viewers coming in for the week with 3,429,000.  Check out the entire ratings picture courtesy of SON here!

Days is always consistent I just look forward to it each and every day. I just love it! Young and Restless has been ok but I can miss a day and don’t care.

I stopped watching around 1988, 89. It became trashy and Jerry Springer-like.

Moved to ABC soaps and never looked back.

I, on the other hand, I GH and came to Days and never looked back. We might have bumped into each other in hall.

good to see Days is doing well. This was Days best week in a while. GH holding steady, ratings were low on Friday probably due to the NFL press conference. B&B needs some new stories. I’m sick of Hope,Liam,Wyatt triangle. They are wasting some actors. Y&R is the most boring soap right now. Subpar stories, and they are dragging on too long. Let’s hope Y&R’s new head writer can give us some good stories, and lift the snoozefest.

Oh, good grief, Robert…lol. Y&R has been great this past week. Phyllis is AWAKE!!!! And on the go!,,, we can already see how Phyllis’ determination put the wheels in motion.
Nonethess, you are so right about Days. I was very much impressed by Theresa and her exceptional acting. Her face is an open book. You can literally see and smell the fear in her changing expressions…her fear is palpable…WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!! I am, however, somewhat concerned, in that, if she is found out, it will be the end for this character. So, inasmuch as I feel guilty even thinking this….I hope John never remembers what really happened.
GH is just wowing me also. All in all…my soaps delivered!

i’m so glad.. that posts are positive about Jenn Lilly

she just knocks me out, over, and IN her show

quote, unquote… from the other lady, herself… Kassie DePaiva

asked about Jenn Lilly : “She’s Fearless” (from SOD)

’nuff said

she has all the attributes for riveting

if she’s not clearly fleshed out… as fans have bemoaned, she’s more on than most

LOL… I am so satisfied with JL take, after take… with regard to character actor

Jeanne Theresa Donovan is at the top of her game

the TOPS

where to start: I loved the scenes this past week with Mom Caroline Brady and soon to be ex daughter in law, Hope

Caroline tells Hope… “you’ll always be my daughter”

this was before, Aiden shows up at the pub… and quipping to Hope about their date….

cut to the quick… knife plunged…. her son Bo… AND “Hope” ????

nuCHAD is right on. I love the nuSophistication adulthood… eyes that engulf… I like this nuCHAD… he’s got all the acumen a DiMera needs…. it’s all being laid out for this new stalwart…. it’s his show… sigh: once EJ and Kristen ( leave… of their own accord ???? !!!!! ) that was my bemoan… but… Chad with dad… is DiMera clandestine behaviour

i have a bit of a reservation…. about pairing him with Abs…. as she’s the childlike, hasn’t earned her stripes or shown womanhood worth…. on her own. she barely flickers with Ben…. it was hot with EJ…. it was laugh out loud… all in a GOOD way…. could have been and still is her sexiest act yet. with Patrick Muldoon’ Austin. I don’t see it with Ben… talk about a character who’s one dimensional…. flex some muscle… and stand by Jordan and Abby… with nary a reason…. do we care about Ben… this long : i’m over him…. his sullen stubborn, bore his eyes in to Chad at his place of employ… wasn’t cutting it….

I LIKE their father… Clyde… if this gives us more air time with Kate…. she deserves to feel

that pleasure dome… that’s all her. Kate has it all…. why not some Clyde… LOL… I like his southern/hill billy/ dare… doesn’t he clean up rather nicely. still, to this day…. Jordan and Ben are inconsiquential… matter? I think not. placing Kate with Rafe… and it seems obvious that it’s going to be Chad with Abs… so, missing these two… is not going to happen…. I’m sorry to say that about Jordan. if they kept Clyde… LOL.. that’d work for me… as Jordan and Ben are once agian on the lam… running… far away from Salem’ites

John’s awake. I hope this gives him a noggen…. a brain to let go… Brady is a grown man….. LOL… if he hasn’t learned by now… that he’s not listening to his parents… and “loves” the wrong women…. Theresa and Kristen… SO what ?!?! he’s fun to watch with both of these women with edge…. till he get’s it… here’s hoping he never does… cause he’s FUN.. doing what he does with these two women… let it forever run it’s course

my biggest beef: in the eventual demise… of EJ, Sami, and Kristen…. the writers’ need to pull it together… and pronto…. I’m over Eric… wrestling and jostling with his own shadow…. Nicole IS…. our future…. let these two have at each other…. HE”S too hot… to waste time …. front and center these two… they have “IT” in spades to help the onslaught of no more…. EJ, Sami, and Kristen

they could also send to la la land… Jenn and Daniel… and bring back : Shane, Kimberly, and Sheryl…. (Lucas ex )… and they could also rid us of Jordan and Ben.

I’m not getting the Abs and Ben are tight
I caught on to Paige and evenmoreso… that she’s Eve’s daughter… so she’ll never go away in my book… and it’s GOOD with JJ as well… let’s see more trepidation, smolder, tease, and whet… with more Eve and JJ

Sami and EJ : even I have to confess… they are better, together… the turmoil for this pairing… is too much… tumultuous staggers and whets the appetite… which these two have … is this paving the way…. for Stefano and Chad to supplant every one else… and herald… the future of the DiMera… as EJ, Sami, and Kristen bid adieu

Hope and Aiden : gosh darned it… Bo, is so handsome… and this pairing will always be

the writing and pairing of Hope and Aiden has marveled…. it’s not Bo… but… it’s doable… about time… that Aiden pulls Hope through… it’s her new life…. and, it’s so easy to forthwith…. Aiden…. he’s dreamy, his eyes circumnavigate your wholesome…. LOL.. it’s time Hope…. just time… it’s Bo’ loss

Theresa is going to rise … and be.. what she’s wanted…. rich, moneybags… status, power…. if she ends up preggers with Brady’ child… and Johns grandson…. she’s such a powerhouse of an actress

I wish upon hope…. that the writers would bring back… Justin Kiriakis for an Eve/Adrienne triangle

Sonny and Will : god… one can’t help but think of Chandler Massey… but… the nuWill… does have more on moments than we need to get over CM. perhaps it’s with Sonny discontent… his time to shine… that he admits… a wandering eye… a power pull all his own… a Kiriakis aplomb worthy all his own… Sonny’ on

Eileen Davidson’ Kristen : knowing you’re leaving days… is a quandry …. dull genoa city…. time spent… hopefully, SONY , contacts you to DAYS…. as you’ve led

Kassie DePaiva : Eve” i’m still loving you…. now that it seems the writers have steered clear of you and Jenn… thank god…. as the godlike Jenn bible thumping has dulled…. and it’s time to leave well enough alone with your daughter Paige…. she’s good with JJ

I can only hope that Eve and Justin Kiriakis meet

I LOVE DAYS… and am so happy for the last two plus years…. it’s on target for daytime recipe… and above board… deserving of the cream of the crop

the best show

Oh, I more than disagree. I hope John does remember everything. Then I hope he persuades Marlena to keep his secret so the two of them can trap Theresa in her web of lies. I want John and Marlena to lead “poor” little Theresa down the garden path to her own destruction; right to Victor’s doorstep. Don’t forget, Brady is Victor’s grandson. He will happily takeTheresa apart for what she did to both John and Brady.

Great post, Patrick–thank you for your efforts. And I concur, Cee Cee,
The Phyllis return is being handled very well and I think I am going to like Gina’s Phyllis even better than Michelle’s. Gina has a way of conveying an almost scary sense of determination which makes me shudder for both Kelly and Sharon. The bitch is back.
It does sound like GH is delivering and I most likely will return to watch Billy Miller as Jason, Fluke and of course, Luke, who I dearly miss.

Hi, Mary Lynn. I can enumerate Theresa’s evil-doing along with you. You are absolutely right. I am not trying to absolve the character’s ‘evils’. But, Jen Lilley is an absolute flawless and stellar actress, deserving an Emmy. That was my point. I would rather see her on my screen than John and that weird thing he does with his eyes. Plus, Theresa is trying….she’s just scared. If only she had a positive, good person to guide her instead of the bad influence of an older sister and twisted supervisor (Anne).

And, if we get down to the nitty gritty, Theresa felt threatened by John. He came at her, menacingly, teeth bared ; growling like a bear and pushed her so hard, she fell. Not only that, but he then turned toward Brady. One could argue that Theresa panicked as she thought John was about to charge and hurt Brady. That was the moment she struck him….it is called survival. It is instinctual. That is what I saw.

I have stuff to with my time so I can only watch 2 soaps.. lol
I FF through most of Y&R so it takes me about 10 to watch..
I never FF through GH, just saying 😉 ..

Good that DOOL is coming up it seems to have a loyal following!!

My friend watches B&B and says it’s been awful and she hardly tunes in..

Y&R is pathetic. It never changes.

I have kept true to my word… and am only recording, Y&R friday eps only

not one thing kept my attention

even, nuPhyllis lamed me out

what does intrigue some… is Neil blindness…. LOL… what potential for intrigue of the senses… what a daring romp … a lesson for Neil

this lesson with nuWIFE and his “step”son, 2 billion dollar “man” Devon…. is duller than dull

not one story…. course, it’s only friday eps… but… I daresay…

I was more interested in the Nikki and nuDRINKING “bud’ ding ” friend go where

Hmmm, Patrick…that is where we have a difference of opinion. I am enthralled by the Phyllis storyline right now. I await the ‘meeting’…..when Jack and she come face to face…I actually get chills. I hope the writers make this ‘finally here’ meeting remarkable and unforgivable.

Neil? Well, what a lost cause! Poor guy can’t catch a break…..boring repetition. He has no luck with his wives. First, Drucilla cheats on him with his brother…now, his present wife with his son? ….the most boring actor on daytime.

As yourself, I am looking forward to more scenes between Nikki and Maureen.

Disagree…doing much better and on track!

I agree–Y&R is doing much better. Patrick, not sure what you mean when you say nuPhyllis “Lamed” you out. Is that a good thing?

Also, I LOVE Mariah. She is the female Adam–conflicted, angry, hurt, defensive and terribly vulnerable. It occurred to me that it’s time to bring back Danial as a potential love interest for Mariah. Considering her twin sister Cassie had a huge crush on him and was driving his drunken self home when she encountered the deadly crash, I think a romance between the two would be really interesting. And I always really liked Danial. With the return of Phyllis, maybe this will happen.

And, Patrick? We agree on Maura West…but she’s bad. Will we see a new and ‘revised edition’? We shall see.
What really kills me is when Sonny tells Carly that Ava WILL pay for what she has done…..oh, yes, I agree. But, what about himself? Why should he get away with killing AJ?… .my beloved AJ!!! Methinks Sonny is too full of his superlative self……so omnipotent that he is allowed to get away with every dastardly crime he commits. …..voila’, Patrick…that’s how I feel.

@harry: I think that by ‘lamed out’, Patrick means that he was disinterested with Y&R, specifically Phyllis. To each his own, I guess.
But, au contraire, I found Gina/Phyllis overwhelmingly on the mark. I sized her up…thinking she would never be en par with Michelle Stafford. But, in a short span of time, she reeled me in and held my attention with every nuance in her facial expressions.
After all these months, I can finally look forward to watching some real action instead of sanctimonious Christine; sacrificial lamb Neil; almost-a-man-but-not-quite-yet Devon, making puppy eyes at Hillucifer; desperately-seeking-vodka Nikki etc. whew !!!!

GH is really silly right now, but keeps me tuned in with the hope that Sonny gets what is coming to him. B & B needs new story lines stat. I can go months without watching and miss nothing. The Liam/Hope saga played out long ago and they are just ruining the characters to come up with ways to keep it going. Between the repeat dialogue and flashbacks, this show is not worth watching for me.

GH is always silly. That’s what makes it GH.

It is not silly..
It is however very dark drama and way out of the traditional soap box…
GH is unique and has its’ own way, but far from silly and closer to prime time..
It is full of variety but nothing silly .. 🙂

I just don’t want any thing… ANY : thing : else happening to Maura West’ Ava

I thought she was already written in to a corner.. via AJ death…. and now.. more trivialized hate… via Jason

Maura West has done so much for GH…

Maura West is GH
Eileen Davidson is DAYS
Kelly Sullivan is Y&R

I can’t believe we have all this treasure

So I guess the Pickle Lila was the opposite of silly? It was a dignified and serious story.
Listen, calling GH silly is not stretch any more than it is an insult. Those who are calling it silly love it despite its silliness.

Okay, people freezing and being brought back to life is not silly? Anna Devine’s running of the PD is not silly? Sonny’s caricature of a mob moss is not silly? Milo and Epiphany, not silly? Obrecht as chief of staff of a major hospital, not silly? A murderous Cassadine head of the WSB, not silly? Dark drama? My foot!

Days is up because EJami is together again. They’ve always been ratings gold & the ratings go up when they’re together. Imagine how good the show could have been doing if not for the EJabby debacle. Sadly, Ali & James will be riding off into the sunset in a couple of weeks & I don’t believe the current storylines will help ratings very much. Dannifer is awful & loathed by most people. Ericole is just boring, as is the whole Jordan, Ben & Clyde story. Even Kristen has been mostly wasted this time around.

You’re right, Chloe. I had surmised that it was inescapable that EJami would once again be together, as a family. They will leave for parts unknown due to either imminent danger, or go on an extended vacation. …..how will the ratings hold up after that?
We agree on Dannifer. Daniel thinks he’s so righteous and God’s gift to women, children, and, well….to the human race. Jenny? What’s with the hair? A bun?????? Women with thin lips should not wear red lipstick. It looks like someone just drew two lines where her mouth is……..don’t the hair and makeup people know that? She is a pretty woman and still young to wear different clothes and sport different hair styles……why make he look so matronly?
I also agree about the other characters, especially Nicole. I love her….so gorgeous….she has been hanging on the vine for too long. Soon, she will look like a raisin…lol. Please, give her a REAL STORY……forget about Eric; he’s starting to get on my nerves….which is not a small feat, since he’s so beautiful…sigh.

I’ve only been watching Days for a few months and I have to say I really enjoy it. I spent 2 years watching Y&R and trying to get into it. I finally had to give it up. It just didn’t hold my attention. Days is so much more alive. Things are happening. The characters have lives and you care what happens to them. I enjoy the stories. The acting is great. I am certainly going to miss Allison Sweeney and James Scott. They are terrific. My pal Kassie DePaiva is raising hell as Eve and I love it. And I’m so happy the James Read is there too. His character, Clyde, has a lot of potential and Read can definitely pull it off. Kate had better look out. Can’t wait to see what they have in mind for Mellissa Archer.

GH is a lot better and more entertaining than the others…but it still has some flaws and several boring characters…did Heather rescue real Luke…he was in that clinic that exploded so i thought…Days had an interesting week…i still believe Jordan was a prostitute and stepdaddy Clyde was her pimper…Eve not working for me but im still glad to see Kassie in daytime…Y&R i watch on occasion and i havent watched B&B in over a month…just grateful there are still soaps in daytime!!! Wish i got retro…wouldv’e loved to have seen The Doctors again…but my top favorite soap remains Coronation Street…love its character driven storlines and their more down to earth realistic portrayel of everyday middle working class life!!! A cable channel should carry British soaps!!!!!

Luke is in Miscavage the mental hospital in Port Charles. The clinic that exploded was Crichton Clark in a different town. 2 different places. Miscavage is the mental hospital in Port Charles that houses Heather although she manages to escape all the time. Since Robin Mattson is supposed to be back on screen soon it could involve her saving Luke but not sure that Tony Geary is back taping scenes as I know he had a major back operation that has kept him off screen longer than expected(except for a few scenes he taped before he left)

Thats right…forgot its Mscavage…i got both places mixed up…thanks for the reminder!!!

DAYS and GH are the soaps I watch consistently. Though I have watched all shows the past few. weeks. The CBS shows are ridiculous. GH is silly, but entertaining…you can tell what is Ron’s style. The writing on DAYS is superior to any of the other shows IMO. That is why I prefer it. Heterosexual are my ratings still:

1. DAYS
2. GH
3 B&B
4. Y&R

Ejami thats the ticket right now!

The only way is UP! The show deserves better ratings. Go DAYS!!!

You bet, Matthew…I am enjoying the splash of comedy today. The meeting, actually the bumping into each other, at the DiMera mansion was priceless…what a treat !!

Sorry, the meeting between Susan and Sami, that is…lol

I am strictly a Y and R lady, and always will be!
Could do without a few characters – Christine for
one, ugh…but I still adore the soap in general.

If you like Eileen Davidson as Ashley, maybe you would like her as Kristen and Susan on DAYS. Give it a try.

I like Eileen a lot, and have thought about starting to check out Days, but I would
be lost, lol. Not knowing a thing about any characters or storylines, etc.

Ahh, Nanci. Christine has been canonized…don’t you know? Can’t you see her halo? LOL…She is little Miss Perfect…can do no wrong and is always right. She and Avery should move in together so they could bore each other to death…ugh, is right…LOL

@4ever: Eileen Davidson is the epitome of beauty, class, thespianism and personability. Her rendition of an urchin-like, white elephant Susan is nonpareil. I have never enjoyed watching Eileen perform more.

Lol, yes, that sums up Christine for sure!

I record Days as it is on opposite GH here in the midwest. This allows me the luxury of FF through every scene Sami is in. There are a couple of other characters I find deathly boring and their scenes also get the benefit of my finger on the FF button.

I hear you, Engrady. Soon, I will not have the luxury to while away the day…back to the grindstone….sigh. So, I will have to sift through my beloved soaps late at night.

This is GREAT news! Kassie is pulling off some amazing performances which of course comes to no surprise to anyone.

GH was interrupted friday!! 🙁 here in New Mexico.

So glad to see DAYS gaining a little steam..I started watching in 2012 and its just been entertaining even when at times the story lines drag on and on and the show’s current supercouple Jennifer/Daniel are kept apart for one reason or the other.

It has been the best soap the last couple of years, for the most part (when GH is written well, it tops any show) and with a smaller cast than GH and Y&R.

The head honchos at DAYS, should try anything in their powers to bring Roger Howarth to the show..He is not a good fit at GH as Franco due to poor writing..I think ratings will rise more if he came to DAYS and he seems tailor fit for this show, not to mention Ms DePaiva is a current resident and Melissa is coming soon, LOL..DAYS should try to get those lost OLTL fans to tune in, if they are smart!!

Days should hire Erika Slezak and Jerry Ver Dorn as Jens parents Laura and Bill Horton!!!

Love this idea–these two should be working in television. They are not yet ready for retirement.

Great job, Y&R and B&B. Both shows are very good right now.

Y&R is finally looking like a Bill Bell soap again. Who would have thought his own daughter-in-law would trash his legacy, only to have it semi-saved by JFP. Hopefully Mr. Pratt won’t ruin all the improvements that have been made.

Just a note to those who call Y&R slow moving and boring. I sort of get that because it doesn’t cater to the frozen world, demonic possession crowds. It is indeed slow moving, but it’s not boring. It’s just a more sophisticated show catered to a specific audience who enjoy slow-moving character-driven melodrama punctuated by life-changing events. LML and MAB tried to turn Y&R into something it’s not. It was a show that was not broken up until around 2006, so you don’t need to fix excellence and superiority. I give JFP credit for turning this show around because credit is due here, like her history or not.

For those who still outrageous claim GH is the number one soap, I just say that ship sailed in the last millennium circa 1988, before all 4 of my children were born. In the scheme of things, GH was top rated for a very short time. Small vocal minorities do not equal ratings dominance for a quarter century.

Y&R threads have 17 and under posts/comments..
GH thread has 125 posts/comments..
And that is usual.. GH threads usually get over 100 ..

goes to with is more intriguing 🙂

Like I said, Y&R has a less vocal audience. It’s always been that way. Thread postings don’t equal ratings. Y&R has a different demographic, pure and simple. It’s obviously a larger, much larger demographic, than GH has. That’s not to be insulting. It just means different people have different viewing and posting habits. I just think people need to get over GH not being top rated anymore. In the 25 plus years since GH has lost its short lived top ranking, numerous other shows have moved in front of it: AMC, DAYS, B&B, OLTL, etc. Meanwhile, Y&R has been numerically dominant above all daytime dramas during this period. Can’t spin numbers and actual viewers; and with all due respect, thread postings have nothing to do with ratings. Y&R viewers are actually watching and enjoying their favorite show and then proceeding with their lives.

I watch both Y&R and GH ..
thing is; Y&R is so boring, nothing happening, same stories going on for a long year that it has nothing to comment about because nothing ever changes nothing happens..
with GH..
something is always turning, being controversial, and new whatevers are happening, always something surprising or shocking.. so there is much to talk about with GH ..
and that has nothing do with ratings it has to do with which soap is moving and entertaining and new things happening, to have/get 150 comments ..
while Y&R comments are under 20, there is nothing new and exciting to comment on 🙂

(We are counting posts again)
Excuse the Reagan paraphrasing, but there she goes again.

You find Y&R boring, others do not. I find counting comments to be boring, you don’t.
Different strokes.

I am new viewer of DAYs( since 2014) but i can say its the second best soap and i am oy saying second because my allllllll time favorite is GH. Seriously though DAYs is realy a good soap… Y&R should take notes!! B&b well they are a lost cause lol

Love Days in front of my tv 5 days a week watching it you should also:)

I came back to DAYS last week after many years because GH has been putting me to sleep.

I am not surprised to see DAYS as the only soap to gain viewers, at least where I stand, as I watch the only other three left on the air, but now I am watching all four. But GH has become boring to me with the majority of the stories currently running.

Loving DOOL and all the soaps.

I find each soap has it own flavor and depending on your mood that soap will resonate with you– if you want romance then watch B&B- although it is the same romance story being told over and over, at least there is actual romance on this show.

If you want cops and robbers, murder, with a dash of humor and a passionate kiss or hot bedroom scene thrown into the mix every now and then– watch GH.

If you want the day to day drama of the lives of the rich and not so famous check out Y&R, but if you are in the mood for it all- watch DAYS–

If Forrest Gump watched a soap it was probably DAYS because this show is like a box of chocolates you’ll never know what you will get– it could be the dull boring vanilla center that is Jenn and Daniel, or it could be the spicy center that is Ejami making love. It could be the nutty center that is Kristen or the rum center that is Brady. There is a little something for every taste, but chocolates although tasty never really fill you up–but sometimes that all one needs- a treat and that’s it.

Mary regarding B&B.just watched Thursday & Friday’s shows just got thru pouring water on my tv from the scenes with Ridge & Caroline! Good night nurse I have not seen sexual chemistry like that in years! Bring it on!

I know every time one of those scenes comes on where Ridge is guiding her hand to draw my television is also smoking from all the heat these two produced. I must admit, as much as a part of me will always think of Ronn Moss as Ridge– I sincerely doubt he could have pulled off that smoldering sexuality this new guy has in these scenes. It is their relationship that helps me endure the endless triangle of Hope Liam and Wyatt.

Sure, Mary…the same could be said about GH….except the box of chocolates is a lot bigger and nuttier with fudge and vanilla swirls.
You are right…there’s variety in all the soaps. I do not watch B&B ….never did. But, I am thankful for the other three.

You said it-Dannifer-how many times do we need to rehash the onslaugh of talks over the break-up? Daniel needs a hot. sultry leading lady! I like Jenn most when she is in scenes with Hope. I like their friendship-how close they are as cousins. Daniel always being the hero-needs to end, too-same ol’ scene over and over again.

Days and GH are the best soaps on the air and should be 1&2. B&B has hit an time low in storytelling and Y&R is on very shaky ground.

Awwwhhhh…what a beautiful domestic scene on Y&R…..Billy and Chelsea and Johnny and Connor …..all sharing in eating ice cream. !!!!! I wonder, will these two boys grow up knowing they’re brothers????

I must add….for those who have given up on Y&R (as I had, but no longer) , there will be hell to pay, if my predictions are correct. So, stay tuned….

Firstly, it is obvious to all of us, now that Phyllis is back, that doomsday is approaching for Sharon….Phyllis will surely go a-Viking……hopefully, she has not lost that unique spirit that only she can deliver. And, Kelly ? She won’t know what hit her…oh, quelle surprise !!!!!

What about the Billy/Chelsey/Victoria debacle? What are the chances that when Billy’s and Chelsea’s relationship becomes more serious and Chelsea wants custody of Johnny? It would not be the first time…in real life or otherwise. Chelsea is the bio mother which gives her two legs on which to stand her ground. If she and Billy were to marry, it would only reinforce her stance.

and today, of COURSE Sharon has to look incredibly silly modeling her bikini for Nicholas when Phyllis comes to their door. Perfectly in character.

I love the smaller cast, balance, and consistency of DOOL! The writing regime has really worked hard to get the show back on track-focusing on its core characters and families, the hospital, relationships, and romances. I absolutely love Eileen Davidson as Kristen Dimera. I would love to have the fearless demeanor (and style) of Kate Roberts! Love Casey Moss as JJ! I always have loved Deidre Hall as Dr. Marlena Evans! I love most of the cast! I’m happy the show is doing well! & I am beginning to like nuChad (nuWill-not so much).

DAYS and ‘Supernatural’ Alum Jensen Ackles Joins the Cast of Justin Hartley’s CBS Series ‘Tracker’

Look who’s joining Justin Hartley’s hit freshman drama, Tracker! None other than another soap alum, former Days of our Lives and Supernatural favorite Jensen Ackles.

In a reveal via Hartley’s Instagram on Thursday, Ackles is set to play Hartley’s on-screen brother on the CBS procedural drama. In Tracker, Colter Shaw is estranged from his brother, Russell, which has been a big part of the mystery of season one.

Ackles is best known for his long run as Dean Winchester in The CW’s Supernatural, a role he reprised in the prequel of the series The Winchesters. He also recently starred in ABC’s Big Sky as Sheriff Beau Arlen and in The Boys as Soldier Boy.

Jensen was the original Eric Brady on Days of our Lives, a role he played from 1997-2000, before departing for the world of primetime and film.  Eric was in love with Nicole played by Arianne Zucker. The part of Eric was recast with Greg Vaughan taking over the role in 2012.

In his Instagram post, Justin thanked everyone for watching Tracker, and then revealed Ackles as the surprise casting announcement in the role of Russell, while Jensen was playing pinball in the video! No word yet on when Jensen’s first episode as Russell will air. Stay tuned.

Check out Justin’s casting post featuring Jensen Ackles below.  So, what do you think of Justin and Jensen playing brothers on Tracker? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

During our 2023 year-end honors at Michael Fairman TV, we named Wally Kurth as our pick for Best Overall Performance by an Actor for his double-turn as both Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital and as Justin Kiriakis on Days of our Lives. So, it was absolutely no surprise to us that Wally landed a Daytime Emmy nomination for his riveting work as a grieving Justin in the Supporting Actor category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

On DAYS, Justin had been put through the emotional wringer, of first, losing his beloved Uncle Vic, played by the late John Aniston, and then finding out that Victor was the supposed biological father to Justin’s son, Alex (Rob Scott Wilson). If you didn’t reach for the hankies during some of Kurth’s work in these scenes, we don’t know what will make you do so.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Wally to get his reaction to his fourth Daytime Emmy nomination in the last six years. Kurth was nominated in the Supporting category in 2018, 2020 and now 2024 and Lead Actor in 2021.

In addition, Wally shares what scenes were on his nominated reel, how John Aniston impacted his work, how he has changed as an actor over the years with a new outlook, and being the only actor out there with two long-running roles on two long-running soaps, and much more. Here’s what Wally had to share below.

Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination. You decided to submit yourself this year for Emmy contention in both Lead Actor for GH and Supporting Actor at DAYS, correct?

WALLY: I did. I thought the DAYS reel was a little more dramatic, much more emotional. I had thought with the way the judging goes that it might be a little bit more, winnable, if you will. I enjoyed and was proud of my work at General Hospital, so it’s all good. I’m thrilled. It’s always nice to be nominated.

What scenes did you ultimately choose for your Supporting Actor reel?

WALLY: I started chronologically, as always, trying to tell a little bit of a story. I actually started with a scene where Justin has to tell Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) that Victor’s (the late John Aniston) plane went down and it was not found. Then, the scene with Bonnie (Judi Evans) where I sort of have to let it all out, and grieve the loss of this man who was practically Justin’s father, but it was his Uncle Vic. We have a little scene talking about Victor, and then there is a short snippet at the funeral where Justin eulogizes Victor. Next, we jump to scene where Justin discovers the letter where Angelica admits that indeed Victor is Alex’s father (Rob Scott Wilson). So then, Justin has to tell Alex, and then I also sort of grieve the fact that I’m no longer his father. Justin basically lost his son. It was very dramatic and very emotional. I was guessing the judges would be like, “Hey! Enough with the crying! Stop, you big baby!” But, they didn’t. They must have thought that it was convincing enough that it felt really truthful at how Justin was upset about these two unfortunate realizations.

You bring up a really good point. I talk to actors all the time about crying on Emmy reels. Sometimes, many feel it might put voters off. But obviously, this time it worked well for you!

WALLY:  What I liked about the crying scenes was that, like in real life, you’re not crying all the time when something bad is happening, right? I think crying happens and it takes you off guard. It happens without you realizing it. These were all moments when Justin was alone, really. Bonnie comes in the room where Justin is just kind of like dealing with it. And then her coming in, opens up Justin and she is there to hold him. I think that often happens in real life. I thought that was correct for the writers to do that, you know, that Justin would break down when he was alone.

Did you feel the pressure of wanting to get these scenes when Victor died and at his memorial, just right due to the enormity to it, and to do justice for John Aniston?

WALLY: I allowed myself to use my heartbreak over John Aniston. I loved him. I just sort of allowed his presence for me in the scenes. It was sweet. It was good for me. I’m just thinking about it now and I feel teary-eyed. John was such a sweet man. He led by example, and he really did teach me how to be a professional actor, and he was a mentor. He never told me anything specific, but he was just John, and in the scenes, this was the time for me tell him how I feel.

Then, you had the heartbreaking scenes with Rob Scott Wilson where Justin tells Alex he is not his father!

WALLY:  I thought that was just really challenging material. As I get older, I just trust the material, and don’t get ahead of myself. I trust myself with the emotion. Just let it happen if it happens. When I first read it, I kind of imagined what it could look like and then you just let it unfold from there.

You’ve got Robert Gossett (Marshall, GH), A Martinez (Nardo, The Bay), Mike Manning (Caleb, The Bay), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R) all in your category. Robert has won two Daytime Emmys in a row, last year for Supporting Actor and the year before for Guest Performer.

WALLY:  l love Robert. I worked with the character Marshall on General Hospital, and we had so much fun. He’s a great guy and a really good actor. A Martinez is the best guy ever. I have such admiration for him. Whenever I see him, we always really connect and to be in included with him is great. Bryton James, I don’t know, but I know he beat me in this category in 2020. Mike Manning, I didn’t get the opportunity to know when he was at DAYS as he weren’t in scenes together, but I hear good things about him, too.

When you are judging Emmy reels, what do you look for when you’re voting on a performance?

WALLY: That’s a really great question. And because let’s face it, there’s just a lot of terrific talent in daytime. This year, I judged two categories. I don’t just go with, “Okay, who’s crying the most.” I really try to go with the one who’s touches me the most, who surprises me and moves me. And so, if you go with that, you’re probably going in the right direction. I also think that upfront you do need to kind of give them something in the first couple minutes that shows you know what you’re doing and don’t make it too repetitive.

Who did you first tell you were nominated?

WALLY: My manager, Michael Bruno called me. I was in Chicago with my daughters having a late breakfast and I knew the nominations were going to happen around 11 am Chicago time. I didn’t tell my daughters about what was happening, just in case, I didn’t get nominated. So, when Michael called, I went, “Oh, boy!” I told my daughters who were sitting at the table with me. So, they were the first two people that I could tell, and that was really nice.  We had champagne which was really funny because I bought three little glasses of champagne, and as soon as I bought it, we toasted. They said, “We don’t really like champagne.” So, I ended up drinking all three glasses. (Laughs)

What do you think of Eric Martsolf (Brady), your Day Players Band member, and DAYS co-star getting a Lead Actor nomination?

WALLY: I remember, I was like talking to him and I was like, “Eric, are you going to submit yourself?” And he is like, “I don’t know. I don’t really have anything …” And the next thing you know, he’s nominated. I’m like, “Wow! I guess he found something!” (Laughs) I love Eric. I have such respect for him and his gift, and he works really hard. So, I was very happy for him. I’m glad we weren’t in the same category, however.

How many years now have you been playing Justin on DAYS?

WALLY: I started here 37 years ago in 1987. I was there for four years and then I left. Then, 18 years later, Ken Corday (EP, DAYS) invited me back in 2009 and I’ve been on the show now for 15 years. So, I guess a total of 20 years on and off over the last 37 years. Everyone remembers 1987-1991 … those were big, big years for Justin and Adrienne who back then were a supercouple.

Have you determined who you would thank in your acceptance speech if you win this year’s Supporting Actor Daytime Emmy?

WALLY: I feel like this year I kind of have an idea of what I would say. I think I can remember all of that without writing it down. If I had gotten nominated for both shows, I was definitely going to point out and thank the powers-that-be for giving me dual citizenship and how much I appreciate that. I do think that being on both soaps, I will go to my grave believing that it’s made me a better actor. In fact, since I’ve been doing both shows, I’ve been nominated for Daytime Emmys. I’ve become a better actor. I feel like maybe it’s just that I’ve gotten older and wiser, but I feel as though when I go in there to work, I’m really focused and I’m really prepared. I know I pretty much get one shot to get it. We’re in the business of “one takes” now in the soaps.

People are so lucky to even have one enduring role in their careers, but you’ve been able to have two, and they’re completely separate characters on two legacy shows; one which just turned 61, General Hospital, and the other Days of our Lives which will soon celebrate 60 years, as well.

WALLY: I didn’t plan on it. I must have done something right. Back in 2009, Ken called me up and invited me back to DAYS. I really jumped in. I’d been out of work for four or five years. I went back with a whole new attitude about the work, about the genre.  In 2004, when I left General Hospital, I was kind of burnt out. Looking back on it, I didn’t have a good attitude and I was just done. I was kind of tired. New writers come in and sometimes, when you have new writers that look at your character differently, it can be very difficult, because you just know that their passion is not with your character. However, in this case, I’m like, “I’m going to take whatever the writers give me and do the best I can and do my job. Let the writers do their job.” I think the writers also know that I really respect them and I’m not going to complain. I’m not going to tell them what to do and I’m going to stay out of it. They have enough to work out. They have enough to do. I’m going to be the problem solver, not the problem creator. There are enough problem creators. Believe me when I tell you that every time I leave those sets, I’m like, “Thank you. I love it.  See you the next time I see you.” I know how lucky I am to do both shows and to have this opportunity to act at my age and still be sent scripts. I love the art of acting. I’d do it for free. The fact that they’re paying me and I am able to do this and work with these great, wonderful, talented actors every day, it’s kind of mind-blowing.

So, will you be rooting for Wally to take home the gold in this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actor in Daytime Drama Series at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7th live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+? Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.
