One Life to Live fans were in the know on this one.  We all loved the performances of Renee Elise Goldsberry as Evangeline Williamson.  Her stories and romances with several of the men of Llanview; John McBain (Michael Easton), Cristian Vega (David Fumero) and Todd Manning (then Trevor St. John) were part of a magical time of the now defunct ABC daytime drama.

Since then Renee has certainly been making a name for herself winning the Tony Award in June for her performance in the Broadway smash Hamilton, and then being cast in Netflix upcoming sci-fi drama, Altered Carbon.  But casting news today has brought even greater exposure to Goldsberry.

Deadline reports that Renee has been cast in the title role of HBO films upcoming The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.  She will star opposite Oprah Winfrey who is also one of the executive producers on the project.

About the film: Goldsberry will play Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line.  Told through the eyes of her daughter, Deborah Lacks (Winfrey), the film chronicles her search to learn about the mother she never knew and to understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever. It’s a story of medical arrogance and triumph, race, poverty and deep friendship between the unlikeliest of people.

The book ” The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” is a winner. I will look forward to seeing this film long after it has aired and maybe show up on Amazon as I do not have Cable or HBO. Congratulations to Renee.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Renee! She’s such a talent, and such a class act!

I truly miss OLTL, Evangeline Williamson, John McBain, Todd (Trevor St. John) Manning, and all that could’ve been with them! I think they could’ve been a PHENOMENAL love triangle, but sadly, it was a story that was never told.

Nevertheless, there will always be some GREAT JoVan memories!!!

I loved John and Vange together and always thought they belonged together. Nothing against Natalie. I could imagine all kinds of story line possibilities featuring attorney Vange and detective John. Another Bo and Nora. Plus their love scenes sizzled!!!!!! But, it was not to be. I also loved Trevor St. John’s Todd with Florencia Lozano’s Tea. The growth they portrayed in that relationship was wonderful.

How I miss our beloved One Life to Live!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Renee for landing what sounds like an interesting role.

Denise Alexander Responds to Outpouring of Fan Support on Her Return to General Hospital

Longtime fans of General Hospital were over the moon when it was revealed that Denise Alexander was on her way back to the ABC daytime drama series to reprise her role of Dr. Lesley Webber, mother of Laura, played by Genie Francis.

With Laura’s story with her new found half-brothers central to the current storyline, it’s a perfect time for Alexander to be back in Port Charles.

Tricia Sheldon, a fan of General Hospital who loves the vintage years of the show and more as she notes on her Twitter account, was able to reach Alexander, who is not on social media.  Sheldon showed her the outpouring of love the actress received, and the excitement on her on-screen imminent return.

In turn, Denise wrote a message to Sheldon to share publicly.  Part of which read   “Wow! I am breathless! What a wonderful surprise!  I am beyond grateful for all the kind and amazing and funny and sweet and caring and supportive and truly delicious messages. I have never felt so appreciated  and it brought tears and laughter reading each one.”

Alexander added, “I do not have a clue as to how to communicate on the Internet on Twitter.”  She then noted, “I would love to reach each and every person who wrote about that first day back. But I don’t even know what the rules are.  I’ve a vague sense that there is a limit to how long a message can be,but do not know how to reach anyone. Is there any way you could forward at least my thanks to everyone?”

Denise closed with,  “I love each and every message, and am full of gratitude.”

You can view the communication and Denise’s heartfelt message below.

Now let us know what you thought of Denise reaching out to all of the fans, and how grateful she is that viewers are excited to see her back on-screen via the comment section,
