Beam me up Scotty to Genoa City! News today out of Mashable has that none other than Nichelle Nichols known for her role as Lieutenant Uhura in the original Star Trek TV series and movie franchise coming in for a landing to Y&R in the role of Lucinda – a character with an emotional connection to a major character in town.

On-Air On-Soaps previously posted the casting call when the CBS daytime drama series was casting a veteran African-American actress for a pivotal role.

In a statement, Nichols related: “I’m thrilled and honored to be a member of the cast of this historic moment in daytime television. I’ve been a huge fan of The Young and the Restless for decades. I’m equally honored to be from Chicago like the Bell Family who created this incredible TV show.”

Nichelle will appear in two episodes, including the 11,000th episode of the long-running soap to air on Thursday, September 1st.

So, what do you think about Nichelle visiting Y&R in her guest-star role? Who will Lucinda be related to on the soap? Comment below.

Me too jaybird, Nichelle Nichols is a wonderful actress. Wow Nichelle is 84 years old, she still looks great for her age. my prediction she is related to Neil Winters. mother and son. I could be wrong lol.

Hiliary’s grandma?

Good one, Jimmy. That makes sense. Maybe she is concerned about Hilary’s health and has come to be with her.

She could also be Neil’s mom like you said…or a former Las Vegas showgirl who had an affair with Victor Newman and had a child with him-who is to be cast later-i always thought Victor should be in competition with GH’s Sonny Corithinos-who can have the most children from different women-so far Sonny is winning-lol

@Jimh(leave it to beaver).
Yeah, another good one, Jimmy. How about this: her affair with Victor produced Neil.
Awwww, another baby boy for Victor, with yet another woman.

Neil can’t be Victor’s son. Neil and Victoria dated in the late 90’s. So Neil can’t be Victor’s son.

@Lou.
LOL, LOU. Jim and I propose ridiculous scenarios to each other, all the time. It has become a game with us. We do it with DOOL and GH, as well.
But, be that as it may, why couldn’t Neil be Victor’s son? Neither is aware of that fact. It would be sooo soapy.
You never know, Lou, my friend….maybe Victoria isn’t really Victor’s. Let’s face it, Nikki was no saint.

Is it possible that Nichelle Nichols’ Y&R character, Lucinda, could be related to Hilary (Mishael Morgan)?! It is a very good possibility! This should be very interesting. Whomever Lucinda is connected to, it will be great to see this Star Trek legend on The Young and the Restless!

Absolutely, Michael. When it was first announced, I think a few weeks ago, that an African American older woman was coming ‘to visit’….we all speculated, as we are doing now. I said it was either Hilary’s grandmother on her father’s side, or Neil’s mother.
I believe Hilary’s mother was white; so, she could not be her mother’s mother.

Right, Celia! It should be interesting to see who Lucinda is connected to! It’s possible she could be connected to Neil, Hillary or Devon! I don’t know if it’s possible that she’s connected to Lily. If she’s Neil’s mother, that would also make her Malcolm’s mother as well, being that Neil and Malcolm are brothers, making Lucinda Lily’s grandmother, because Malcolm is Lily’s biological father!

What is the point of two episodes?

I agree with you. I am hoping that maybe they will have her come back as Maime, and she could inform Neil and Lily that Drucilla is alive. Because as we all know, a body was never recovered from the accident. But the only way this could work would be to let the lovely and talented Victoria Rowell reprise the much loved role. And in keeping true to soap operas past aand present, alot of damage can be done in two days. I guess we just have to wait and see.

I don’t think she’s going to be Mamie, because her name is Lucinda. What would be the purpose of calling her Lucinda if she’s Mamie. They would have just said she’d be playing Mamie #3. Mamie was played by Marguerite Ray and Veronica Redd. As for Drucilla, it would be great if she returned. Although Victoria Rowell was my favorite Drucilla, the role was also temporarily played by Dawn McMillan in 1996, and Kent Masters-King, in 2000.

Such inspired casting. This woman is a television icon, a champion for civil rights, and a great beauty as well. Between the return of the wonderful Michael Graziadei and the arrival of Nichelle Nichols, I’m suddenly looking forward to this 11,000th episode.

‘The View’s’ Sunny Hostin & Ana Navarro Test Positive for COVID-19; Asked to Leave Studio Ahead Of V.P. Kamala Harris Interview

This morning on The View, an awkward situation arose, when while on the air, co-hosts, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro, where asked to leave the panel desk and exit the studio.

All of this happened before a live interview was scheduled to happen with Vice President Kamala Harris.  It was revealed that Hostin and Navarro tested positive for Covid-19, and were ‘breakthrough” cases since they had been previously vaccinated.

Host, Joy Behar delivered the news to the audience at home so they knew what was going on with the bizarre moment playing out on live TV, sharing,  “Ana and Sunny, at the last minute we realized they have tested positive for COVID so they have been taken off of the show.”

Harris, who had planned to join the ladies at the table, instead was going to be interviewed remotely from a different place in the ABC TV studio in New York, while Joy Behar and Sara Haines remained on the set.

As for Kamala Harris, Behar added: “It’s very important we keep her healthy and safe. The Secret Service is doing things to make her feel safe.”

While the delay was announced, Behar and Haines took questions from the in-studio audience.

Watch Behar below explain what was going on.

TONIGHT: 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS

Who will take home the gold at Sunday night’s 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards?  Well, from the looks of it .two heavy favorites going into it are Ted Lasso in the comedy categories, and The Crown in the dramatic categories, but as we have seen on previous Emmys there may be upsets afoot.

Other leading contenders through the night will include the series: The Mandalorian, WandaVision, The Handmaid’s Tale, Saturday Night Live, Lovecraft CountryThe Queen’s Gambit and Mare of Easttown.

Cedric the Entertainer will host the three-hour special on CBS beginning at 8 pm EST emanating from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.  Pandemic and all there will be a return to an opening number.

Photo: CBS

The broadcast’s executive producer, Ian Stewart, confirmed an opening number, when he previously told Deadline, the number “is going to be a lot of people participating, singing, rapping.  It’s hopefully going to be a very impactful start, a ton of fun.”

The Primetime Emmys will have nominees in attendance, with a more limited amount virtually, and those who have tickets can stay in the venue through the whole show, unlike the Grammys or Oscars were those nominated were ushered in and out.  Look for the Emmys to take place outside the theatre under a tent.

One Life to Live alum Renée  Elise Goldsberry (Ex-Evangeline) will be competing in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in Hamilton.  Another OLTL alum, Jonathan Groff (Ex-Henry), is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role in Hamilton, as well.

In the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Sterling K. Brown tries to win another Emmy for his role as Randall Pearson on This Is Us.   To view all the nominees, head on over to the TV Academy’s website.

This past June, CBS also aired the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards in a pre-packaged show for broadcast due to Covid-19 restrictions.

So, who are you rooting for to win the gold at the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards? Comment below.
