Over the last several hours, reports have surfaced including one from Daytime Confidential, saying that sources have revealed that Daytime Emmy-winner, Eileen Davidson (Ashley) of The Young and the Restless has decided to exit the series.

Davidson has played the beloved Ashley on and off on the top-rated CBS Daytime drama series since 1982, and earlier this year won the Lead Actress in a Drama Series award at the 45th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards for her performances.

According to the report, Davidson has decided its time to call it quits to be able to spend more time with her family.

Eileen is also known for appearing in the cast of the hit reality show franchise, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as well as her Emmy-winning performances as Kristen DiMera on Days of our Lives, as well as Susan Banks, Sister Mary Moira, and Thomas and Penelope Banks.

If this report is confirmed by Davidson, it would be a major loss to Y&R.

So, what do you think of Eileen being gone from Genoa City? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Major loss does not express this dismaying news. Miss Davidson is a rock in Genoa City and I cannot fathom the show without her. I had such hopes with the Abbott renaissance, and the story lines with Ashley, Jack, and Dina. I admit that Y&R has not sustained that level of storytelling, but the show shines brighter with Miss Davidson as Ashley. Will be looking to you Mr. Fairman for updates!

I am beyond stunned! WOW!

Eileen Davidson is the only reason I watch the show. I love Eileen! She was the only reason that I tuned into DAYS again (a few years back; I no longer watch) and that I watch Y&R. There are no good shows with good acting/storytelling anymore. If this is Eileen’s decision, then I wish her nothing but the absolute best. If not, to hell with TPTB. Of course, besides Eileen’s

Wow. When I first read this, my first thought was that she was going back to DAYS but if the reason is that she wants to spend more time with her family, she wouldn’t go back to DAYS because they had her on the show nearly every day when she was there. Great actress no matter what she decides to do.

A shocking and heartbreaking decision. Eileen Davidson is such a class act, and one hell of an actress, so this is sincerely a loss. If she is leaving, due to family, then I wholeheartedly accept her decision. However, if the other speculation turns out to be true, then I’m disappointed in SPT. I only hope the door is being left open for her return, because for Eileen to not be acting is a true crime!

Quick, somebody call Brenda Epperson’s agent! Seriously though, it’s always hard for fans when longtime favorites leave. I’m concerned as to what this means for Y&R’s overall situation. Put your seats in the upright position – Y&R has encountered some behind-the-scenes turbulence!

Eileen will certainly be missed. Her departure may have as much to do with story as it does money. She’s certainly been both misused and under-used of late. I think it’s time for John Abbott’s ghost to make another appearance. He can tell Ashley, Jack and his other children to get the hell out of Genoa City before their characters are utterly and completely ruined!

Oh Hell 2 The No, no replacement EVER!

come back to Days!!!!

This is a real blow to Y&R…I also read she is NOT going back to DAYS…..

It seemed to have to happen sooner or later…i watch on occasion and Ashley had nothing much to do…the destruction of The Abbotts is a major problem!!!

I hope Eileen Davidson doesn’t ever leave Y&R; if she has to leave to handle her business I hope it’s brief.

Actually; the word is she left for the same reason the other actress left; salary. Supposedly the actors on Y&R haven’t gotten raises in five years.

And, according to some sources, it’s just another ploy to frustrate actors and if enought leave and ratings drop, the networks can justify cancelling the show.

Unfortunately, all of the remaining soaps are on thin ice. The age of daytime as we know it is coming to a too-close-for-comfort demise.

NO NO NO! Ashley annoys me to no end sometimes, especially lately but the last thing I want is to see her gone.
The Abbott family can’t afford to get any smaller and Y&R can’t afford to lose both an excellent actor and a key member of a legacy family.

Save money and FIRE MAL YOUNG INSTEAD.

I agree with you!

June 2012 all over again..Seems like it when she left before but she’s been all over the place since then..I still say she will be back at Days before all is said..Notice the tweet she left..More control over Day to Day?? She will be back not a chance in hell Days will recast Kristen unless there is NO posiibilty of Eileen returning..

Stacy Haiduk who played Patty Williams on Y&R has taken over Eileen’s former roles at Days. She’s been working over there for some time and according to set side sources, Stacy is killing it over there.

Enough already! How many more blows can the Abbott family take? Between the Jack’s dad reveal (a colossal error IMO) and Ashley and Billy both in corporate power, where Jack should be, I’m feeling bad enough. Now Eileen is leaving? And using that old warhorse excuse that politicians think we’re naive enough to swallow? I sense there’s more afoot here.

It’s salary, Soaphound. Seems the networks just don’t want to or can’t afford to increase salaries. I think actors are feeling that with budget cuts, no raises, they’d rather try their chances elsewhere. Future doesn’t look bright for the remaining soaps…

I fear you are correct, rebecca1. What’s to become of us if the soaps disappear? I’ve been watching (weaned on, really) since the 1960s! My day would be a lot less fun. I so enjoy watching wonderful actors at the top of their game.

Ugh. Only hope is she is headed to Days – on contract!

She’s not. Days already filled her roles over there with Stacy Haiduk, formerly of Y&R where she played Patty Williams.

Eileen is super-talented first, she needs to fly her own direction I look forward to watching her make her books, into films. #sheready

She’s already got a job..probably days they keeping it hushed until the other actress playing kristen is gone..Actors like Eileen just don’t quit..She already knows where she’s going the old sound time with family is oldest one in the book..She used it before when she quit days..lasted about a month and she was back on yandr..my guess is 2019 will see a full blown return of kristen on days similar to 2013…she’ll be back

just this past week i was thinking that she was being under-utilized. when has she even had a front burner story?? it’s been a while…she’s been a fringe character and what a waste of her talent. wants to spend more time w/ her family? please, teenagers and grown sons…i don’t think so. and ‘hillary’ is leaving also, whoa

I more disturbed by the picture of Eileen being used then her leaving Y&R. Who’s body is her attached to? Her neck looks bigger then her had. Anyhoo, it’s too bad she’s leaving Y&R. She brings a lot of class and has great chemistry with Peter Bergman & Melissa Ordway. I say pass on a replacement.

NO‼️‼️‼️What a loss.

It’s your life, sweet lady….Yet, I will miss Ashley so very much. I wish her the best.
Eileen….You have always been a joy to watch—including your wardrobe and hair styles, through the years I’ve been watching ……even as a little girl; I’ve always admired you…..you and my mother look so much alike, it’s uncanny.
Love you!!

Published

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.

The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.

The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”

A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS

The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.

Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear.  The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.

It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.

So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
