Former Guiding Light favorite Ron Raines (Ex-Alan Spaulding), who just debuted on One Life to Live as the nefarious Carl Peterson, has also joined another stellar cast!

Today, Crystal Chappell’s upcoming new web series Beacon Hill announced that Raines has been added to the cast to play the key role of Senator William Preston!

According to the character description on the Beacon Hill series website, “Senator William Preston  is a longtime Democratic Senator for Massachusetts who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. The Senator believes that blackmail is something you do before breakfast.”  Crystal Chappell will play Ron Raines daughter in Beacon Hill in the role of Claire Preston, thus reuniting these two former GL favorites!

So, what do you think of the casting of Ron Raines as Senator Preston?  Are you excited to see him join the cast with the likes of Ricky Paull Goldin, John-Paul Lavoisier, Melissa Archer, Louise Sorel, and Sarah Brown too? Comment below!

So excited to see Ron Raines join the cast… it’s shaping up to be an amazing group. Love that Ron and Ricky Paull will reunite to work together on Beacon Hill. Add all the other talent and it will be one heck of a show.

They have not started production yet. from what I read on the official site (just google Beacon Hill web series or go to Crystal’s facebook or twitter page for link) the web series will not air until early 2014. I would love it if I am wrong because I want to see this so right now!!!

thanks Tori! I’ll check it out. Did you watch the pilot for Crystal’s series “The Grove”? I loved it but never saw any new episodes 🙁 Robert Woods (Bo) from OLTL was in it.

Ron Raines is a good solid character who will bring strength and entertainment in his new role of a not-so-good senator. Yes I am looking forward to the new series with Sarah Brown and Melissa Archer also. When is the debut?

This is looking to be really good!!! Love the cast so far!!! Based on the current cast and especially Ron… a great casting of Sara… would be Julie Marie Berman! She looks like she could be Ron’s daughter and JP’s sister and even Crystal’s sister! Will be looking forward to seeing the rest of the casting! It’s a beautiful and talented cast with a great look!

I thought she is Ron’s character daughter in law? maybe I read the website character descriptions wrong. Crystal is amazing with these projects. I am amazed that networks and cable tv is not banging down her door trying to get there hands on these projects. I look forward to watch Ron in this new venture, I admire his work on One Life To Live.

Guiding Light’s Robert Newman Pays Tribute to the Brilliance of Lisa Brown

On Sunday, longtime Guiding Light mainstay, Robert Newman (Ex-Josh Lewis), shared a heartfelt message on his Facebook page on the death of his former co-star, Lisa Brown (Ex-Nola Reardon).

As previously reported, Brown passed away earlier this week at the age of 67 from cancer. She portrayed the beloved role of Nola on the CBS soap opera from 1980-1985 and was front and center in many stories which featured Nola’s antics, fantasies, and of course, her love affair with Quint, the late Michael Tylo.

In his message on Brown’s death, Robert Newman expressed: “I was greatly saddened to hear of the sudden death of the great Lisa Brown. When I first joined the show in 1981, Lisa was pretty much the center of everything. A real whirlwind. Her work with the late Michael Tylo was fantastic. I particularly have fond memories of Nola’s fantasies …Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, etc. I don’t think I was ever a part of those fantasies, but I remember watching them being taped in the studio and she was just amazing.”

Newman goes on to say: “One of my fondest Lisa memories, however, was sitting in the audience at the Winter Garden Theater in NYC watching Lisa head up the cast of 42nd Street with Lee Roy Reams in 1981 or so. It was one of those times when you see a colleague that you know from one genre, Daytime Drama, in an entirely different genre, Musical Comedy, and you are completely surprised and blown away. Again, she was just fantastic in the role and I as a fellow musical comedy performer, I had great, great respect for her. Below is a clip from a television performance of her as Peggy in 42nd Street. Her death at such a young age is a great loss to the daytime community. Love and prayers to her family and friends.”

Michael Fairman TV also shares below the video posted by Robert below, which reminds us of just how multi-talented Lisa was for her fans, the audience, and to all that knew her. On a personal note: “Lisa always performed at the ‘Night of the Daytime Stars’ benefit for AMFAR in New York City during the AIDS pandemic that I created and produced.  It was the annual event held the night before the Daytime Emmys, and she was always willing to lend her support and talents to help others in need.”
