Wednesday night, fans of the CBS procedural drama Criminal Minds were in for quite the emotional ride and shocker, when longtime series star, Shemar Moore exited his beloved role as Derek Morgan.

The former Daytime Emmy winning star of The Young and the Restless, where he played Malcolm Winters, decided he wanted to spread his wings and look at new roles and opportunities in his career.

Moore’s exit episode drew 10.7 million total viewers with a 2.1 rating, rising 9 percent and two tenths and gave Criminal Minds its largest audience since November 26, 2014, and its best demo number in almost a year, according to TV Line.

Shemar told The Hollywood Reporter:  “The Young and the Restless gave me confidence and told me that I had a right to be here (In Hollywood).  ” got popular there, but I wanted credibility and to prove that I could act. What Criminal Minds did was help people see that I could handle drama — and keep my shirt on — and tell stories. Criminal Minds was college, and now I’m ready for grad school and the next step.”

As to if Moore would ever make a return visit to the CBS nighttime drama, he added, “I went back for two episodes [on The Young and the Restless during Criminal Minds]) and I would have done it for free — and the same goes with Criminal Minds. If they’ll let me come in and play for a while, yes. I’d love to come back.”

Moore gave his fans a special farewell video on his decision to leave, as well.   Watch it after the jump.  Then let us know, if you are sad that Shemar has exited Criminal Minds?  Do you hope he comes back to Y&R for another short visit?  What would you like to see Shemar do next in his career? I think shemar should have his own show. I know he would make an excellent spokesperson n being so good at what he does he needs to venture out. Y&R could surely use him again if he chooses to go down that road again. Shemar u rock baby boy ! Oh maybe an actor doing movies but a talk show host sounds like the best road he could go down. Love u baby boy

No doubt, Shemar Moore is an accomplished and popular actor!

Yet, I will always hold a huge amount of respect and appreciation for him with the manner in which he announced Susan Lucci’s Emmy win (after 19 nominations). He exuded excitement and class, which made this deserved and heartfelt moment for Lucci and her fans even more poignant, satisfying, and special!

I quit watching Criminal Minds years ago because it was full of such ugly stories. But Shemar always seemed to have a brighter soul. So long past time for a change to put him into something more positive.

General Hospital Stars Participate in GLSEN’s ‘Day of Silence’, Asking You To Do The Same

General Hospital’s Sofia Mattsson, Cynthia Watros, Kathleen Gati, Brook Kerr and Johnny Wactor appear in a video released this morning, where the actors look to camera and remain silent.

It’s all a part of the ongoing initiative from GLSEN and their “Day of Silence” campaign which is  a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQ students and allies all around the country—and the world—take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination of LGBTQ people in schools.  Every April, students go through the school day without speaking, ending the day with Breaking the Silence rallies and events to share their experiences during the protest and bring attention to ways their schools and communities can become more inclusive.

This year the day is this coming Friday April 23rd.  General Hospital is showing their support of LGBTQ+students and their right to be safe at school and free of verbal harassment, as well.  The video released today supports the organizations action.

Now they ask you to support it as well and make your own, ‘Day of Silence’ video and share it on social media.  Watch General Hospital’s below.

Then let us know, if you stand with GH and their support of GLSEN’s Day of Silence via the comment section.

‘Downton Abbey 2’: Big-Screen Sequel Announced & Coming For Christmas

So many of us loved the soap opera that was Downton Abbey when it aired on PBS and ITV for six seasons.  Then, a few years later in 2019, the highly-awaited Downton Abbey movie hit movie theatres near you.

Now comes word from Focus Features that a big-screen sequel is in the works and is slated for release this Christmas in December of 2021.

In a social media announcement, the film company shared: “We’re thrilled to announce that Julian Fellowes and the entire Downton cast are back for #DowntonAbbey2, with Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West joining! See the film in theaters this Christmas.”

While, of course, no plot has been teased or given away, Fellowes will write the screenplay, with Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) set to direct.

“There’s no place like home for the holidays, and we can’t imagine a better gift than getting to reunite with Julian, (producer) Gareth Neame and the entire Downton family in 2021 to bring the Crawleys back home for their fans,” said Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawsk in a statement.

So, excited to see your favorites and some potential new ones in the all-new Downton Abbey Movie later this year? Comment below.

Kimberly McCullough Gives Clues That Have GH Fans Suspecting She Was Back for John Reilly’s Tribute Episode: “Saw Some Old Friends and Reminisced about an Absent Dear One…”

General Hospital fans began taking note of a couple of tweets sent out by beloved longtime cast member, Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio), over the last 24 hours on the actress-director’s Twitter feed.

First, Kimberly shared: “I did something really cool today that involved wearing make-up and heels all day, which I clearly wasn’t prepared for.”

After that she followed it up with, “Here’s a clue – saw some old friends and reminisced about a dear absent one ….”

If you combine that with the fact that Jackie Zeman also tweeted: “Good day shooting @GeneralHospital I was invited back for a special episode today. As Y’all know I rarely post a selfie but it’s been awhile since I’ve had ‘Bobbie’ hair and makeup done. Thank you Karen, Carl, and Ari. Have a wonderful weekend, Everyone,” it would appear that both McCullough and Zeman were back for the upcoming tribute episode to the late John Reilly, who for many years played Sean Donely.

In story, Robin’s parents, Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Anna (Finola Hughes) were very close with Sean, as well.  So it all makes sense that Robin would be part of this as well.

So, if this is proven to be true, are you excited to see Kimberly back on a special episode of GH?  Comment below.
