Sarah Palin Daytime Court TV Show In Development: Is This The Next Face Of The Day-Part?

Photo: MSNBC/AP
None other than Sarah Palin may be the next name to be getting her own daytime court TV series. How could that be when she has never even been a judge in real life? Well, the former vice presidential candidate and Donald Trump supporter has apparently finalized a deal with the Montana-based production company, Warm Springs, to headline her own daytime series in the vein of Judge Judy, according to Variety.
Palin has not yet shot a pilot for the potential syndicated series, but Warm Springs will be shopping the Palin project for a fall 2017 launch. Syndication TV vets, Barry Wallach and Lee Villas are charged with the task of selling the Palin project.
In addition, Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown producer Larry Lyttle is said to be on board to executive produce the series. Lyttle has not been with Judge Judy though for over a decade.
So, why Palin for a court TV show? According to a source via PEOPLE, while Palin does not hold a law degree, she has a “telegenic personality, wide appeal and common sense wisdom (that) make her a natural for this kind of format.” They also learned that Palin was Warm Springs first choice to build a show around. Publicist Howard Bragman who is said to be working with Palin on the project noted to NBC News that Palin will do her best “Judge Judy,” mediating and deciding cases brought before her fictional court.” Bragman added: “She calls them like she sees them.”
So, while daytime programming executives try to find a way to find alternatives to failing talk shows, and refuse to even entertain the notion of finding a way to budget a new half hour daytime soap opera, is a Palin show in the day-part, something women and male daytime viewers truly would want to see? One thing we can’t fathom and hope to never see … Sarah Palin hosting the Daytime Emmys.
So, share your thoughts on the news of a Sarah Palin daytime reality court show being in the works!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

There are too many judge shows on TV already.
Anyone who goes on will have to know that judgements will not be based on the law, but on one person’s opinion. Hey, I’d like to have a show like this too.
Sarah is not a judge….not even a lawyer. How will ‘they’ make this work?
More importantly; what does this say to our youth? Get something for nothing? WOW.
Courtroom to nowhere, lol.
No one will watch another Meredith Vieira like talk show.. No one will a Sarah Palin talk show so throw her in a fake courtroom with actors portraying litigants in already settled cases and see how she decides.. SMH.. they are already scrambling for next year’s cancelation of days.. I saw that nod to nbc in the article..
Judge Judy already owns this genre….nobody has or will come close to her immense success, so why even try with such a ludicrous twist on the law? Moreover, what sort of cases are we going to see on this particular program…..hunters’ melees over moose meat, who’s your daddy custody cases/deadbeat parents who won’t pay their due or dui snowmobiling? Just asking, since this would seem to be the only situations where Palin’s expertise could come in handy.
Breast feeding in public!
@Timmm….I dare say even Palin would display more common sense and class on that subject than the showrunners, et al, at GH did.
I think a 1st grader would have more common sense than the GH writers courtroom fiasco! It was so low! If “Talk Soup” were still on I’d imagine the clip would have been on the show but it would have been laughed at, for sure. Hell, even Hulk Hogan disapproves BROTHER!
Now I’ve heard everything. It’s time to pull the plug.
Fire up the DVR and pop the popcorn, this should be good!
@Timmm…..Per your above response to my post: This is true! What really roiled me about that declasse’ display put on by the Port Charles chapter of the LaLeche League was the way it mocked the justice system with such a self-righteous attitude….there was no respect whatsoever for the legal setting or those with a different point of view. Plus, there was this underlying implication that those of us who weren’t on board with this nonsense from day one weren’t sophisticated enough to appreciate this cause and the way in which it was presented, which couldn’t be more wrong. I personally don’t care how a mother chooses to nourish her child, but I do object to the notion that it is the public’s place to accept them doing it wherever and whenever they please without limitation. People should have common sense and discretion regarding this matter, but far too many don’t. Certainly restaurants should not be forced to allow this practice in the wide-open, nor many other public spaces where parents with their own children may not want them “exposed” to such things. For example, just this past weekend I read about a woman at a family-oriented museum (not in NY) who decided to feed her child in plain sight for all to see. (She quite handily posted her proud selfie showing her in mid-act, no coverage at all….) She was told by staff that it was not the proper location for her to be doing that because there were other youngsters around, and of course, she took great umbrage, made a big deal out of it and demanded an apology for her inconvenience, forget about all the rest of the patrons who didn’t care to witness her with her child clearly clamped to her non-concealed cleavage. It seems to me that a fair compromise would be for any reasonably-sized venue to offer a private lounge setting for these women to do their motherly duties, but probably even that wouldn’t satisfy those militants who just like to milk this subject for all it’s worth.
Shay, I love Judge Judy with the heat of a thousand suns.
My favorite Judge Judy line? “Beauty is fleeting but dumb is forever.”
My dear Shay, women are powerful and if anyone is in denial they are living in the dark ages. Whipping a boob out to feed a kid is not showing power, it is showing a bad lack of judgement. Now I know “Girls Gone Wild” is a whole different story BUT a boob is a boob! BOTH are wrong! I have not been in a chain restaurant in at least five years where I didnt see a “Family” restroom. USE IT! They are usually more comfortable than a regular restroom AND you can take a chair in there with you if you want. Some of them are already equipped with one. Its dangerous to discuss politics BUT that lady in the museum, I know her story and she is a KOOK! To a little child, a boob is a private part and good parents tell them that it is private and should not be seen or certainly not touched by others. So how the hell do you explain a baby sucking on his mom’s breast? Well, you do that as a parent in the privacy of your own home when YOU feel the time is right and not when some rebel decides to feed Johnny or Susie because ITS TIME! No its time to go to a restroom or its time to go home! Like I said in regards to GH, those women ripping their shirts off MAYBE in 1971 would have been cool, made a statement BUT in 2016 they looked like middle aged women desperate for SOMEONE to look at them!
How eloquently put, Timmmster! I agree with you wholeheartedly! You are obviously a man after my own heart….as Harry also very ably demonstrated on a previous thread regarding the same subject. It’s funny how males can often put this subject in the proper perspective even better than the fairer sex, who, in my opinion, too often frequently use the “empowerment” notion simply to excuse uncalled for and ridiculous behavior that embarrasses me to be of the same gender! Thank you both!
@Harry….Oh yes, our “Judge Judy” is an absolute gem. What I most love about her is her wide appeal to such a broad audience segment. Her opinions are based upon old-fashioned common sense and the letter of the law, not the whims of today’s PC police….she doesn’t suffer fools gladly, makes no apologies for stating the obvious and will take it to whomever deserves her wrath, without reservation. If they’re wrong, then they’re wrong….period. End of discussion. And as you observe, she has the most wonderful collection of sayings….she’s just a truly great lady. Long live Judge Judy!
There are some people and subjects that aren’t worth a comment. This is one.
Come on Rose, show us what you got!
Timmm…I relented, a bit…scroll down. 🙂
This is the worst of the bad ideas I have ever heard. Palin is NOT even a lawyer, judge or a Governor. It seems daytime television is being taken down to the lowest level. Palin can’t get over that her 15 minutes of fame has expired.
Instead of campaigning against what is wrong with this country, maybe she should 1) stay in Alaska and help her son with anger issues, 2) assist her daughter with two unplanned pregnancies/births from two different fathers 3) Help her husband on the mend from his recent accident.
Haven’t we already seen enough of Palin being JUDGE-MENTAL? (Pun intended).
Sadly, a small minority of people would watch her nonsense if the show is picked up. Hopefully there are enough station program managers who will pass on this nonsensical show and it will never see the light of day.
Lol, Ray….JUDGE-MENTAL. So apropos play-on-words. Love it.
Your petty, nasty, mean personal comments about Palin and her family notwithstanding- in a great many jurisdictions it is NOT necessary to be an attorney in order to be elected or appointed to a judgeship.By the way there are other ‘TV judges’ who are not lawyers.
To the list of petty, mean, and nasty you forgot to add true!
Well, Robert, you do have a point. However, considering all the backlash Ms Palin has had in the past, plus the fact that she is soooo ill-informed on soooo many subjects, draws negative attention.
I, personally do not like to attack family members because all of us have skeletons in the closet. The difference is, we try to avoid attention.
If Sarah wants this lifestyle, this ‘show’, then, she and her family become free-for-all. ….human nature; nature of the beast, as it were.
Besides, dearest Robert, with all due respect…..we were asked to “share our thoughts” on this subject. That is exactly what we are doing…..
You shared yours, as well. Does that mean your insults are non-consequential? You called us nasty, petty and mean. You are contradicting yourself….at the same time, sharing your thoughts. You did exactly the same thing towards us…..what’s good for the goose, and all that jazz. Later.
I second that motion Robert!
Robert, I just cannot respond to your post. Honestly, I cannot.
My mother told me to ignore lunatics and as I matured I realized it was actually mean spirited to pick on the mentally ill.
That is why I am not going to comment on this blog or react to your defense of Ms. Palin.
Harry:Who asked you to respond to me?Your non-responsive response is ,of course confusing.Who .are you suggesting is mentally ill?Me,Sarah Palin, your mother,or yourself.
It is unclear about whom you are making your slanderous comments.
Really upsetting that networks would give this brainless judgmental twit a show based on something she Knows nothing about, The Law. Does she still see Russia from her house.
Lol, Jenni…witless woman.
However, it’s possible to see Russia from Alaska. The Bering Sea separates the countries; with only a 55-mile stretch.
I don’t know if the Palins can see it from their house, but certainly from the state.
Regardless, you are right. What experience does this woman have in justice/law? All her talent lies in shooting game.
For the record, Sarah Palin never said she could see Russia from her house. That was Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin in an SNL skit who said the aforementioned.
It’s one of those things which has taken a life of its own and become historical truth,
Why such venomous comments?
God help us!
I wouldn’t watch anything involving that nut job if somebody paid me. Aren’t her 15 minutes of fame up already? You betcha!
Looking forward to checking out sarah palins court tv series…….luv sarah palin…….
totally uninteresting concept. I agree that there are too many judge shows now and they were actual judges!
Oh good grief, always so desperate to have her face in front of a camera.
Don’t know who’s more desperate, her or the network.
I am so not a Palin supporter, but I have to acknowledge that she has a talent for connecting with people. I think that had she worked with a Republican think tank to understand today’s issues and develop solutions, she might have been a much more important voice in the party.
Great, just what daytime TV needs, another idiot. Maybe they could put her in between Maury and Springer and call it Trinity of Idiots Television. Sarah Palin is just disgusting.
Palin is an Imbecile..
I can see the less mentally endowed tuning in but anyone of intelligence would avoid her like the plague.
It’d be like a freak show; ‘come see the Idiot at work!’ .. ahaaa!
I think this is hoax, perhaps..?
less mentally endowed
Victor Newman perhaps …
I agree Su – Palin is a complete moron and a total Imbecile! The network is pathetic to actually give her a show. She has no knowledge of the law. Horrible!
God help us!
I will not be able to change the channel quickly enough….
Uh…EWWWWW!!!!! The idea of that homophobic nitwit Sarah Palin possibly having her own show??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! To me, that shallow woman having her own show is kinda like putting the killer shark in charge of the scuba lessons…MORE EWWWWW!!!!! Bottom Line Here: That Sarah Palin train-wreck is nothing but A DISGRACE TO THE HUMAN RACE…PERIOD!!!!!!!
hey jaybird369..
And that is exactly why people will watch, because it is train wreck about to happen..
People will tune in to see the Imbecile at work and laugh at her stupidity.
( sad, isn’t it..
Don’t need ANOTHER Judge show!
Don’t need Sarah Palin on ANY show!
Daytime is TOTALLY going down the tubes…to the depths of the sewer system.
It will FAIL just like Kris (Kardashian) Jenner’s show failed…after the “test” run.
Unbelievable. An awful waste of space — both the person and the show.
Would never give her the time of Day. Network is insane for promoting that
I agree with you, I would rather watch a new soap or repeats of AMC and OLTL. Sarah Palin is not too bright and she needs to go away.
Rob…dude…AGREED!!!!! Myself personally??? I would much rather watch a bunch of stuff (or whatever) on DVD than watch Sarah Palin’s joke of a so-called show. Oh…as far as I’m concerned, Sarah Palin is BEYOND ANNOYING…and her family is EVEN WORSE!!!!! YIKES!!!!!!
Have a good one, Rob.
Looks like April Fools came a little early!
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. These people are truly desperate, what a waste of money.
I don’t think an individual with so many family problems of her own has the right to judge anyone.
Ew.
Sarah is very annoying, and a has been. The lady is a mess, I will not watch this crap. I want OLTL back.
Not for me.
Ok, so I am a conservative woman, so I probably have a slightly different viewpoint with the same opinion. I don’t like Sarah Palin. I think she threw her daughter to the wolves (ugh, not the ones she shoots, I guess) by running for VP when her daughter found out she was pregnant. And this is frigging ridiculous. Now we can tell our kids that they can be judges with no background in law? Our youth already seems to have the idea that they deserve something for nothing as it is! And finally….everyone loathes this woman. Nobody even wants to hear her opinion, let alone watch a show revolving around it. Judge Judy should go smack whoever came up with this idea. It’s completely disrespectful for people that have actually put the tremendous amount of work into their education and earned their jobs as judges. Grrr… I started out amused, but now I’m just furious. Maybe they should start Real Housewives of Alaska and she can star in that train wreck. (No disrespect to Ilene Davidson whom I love!) Hee hee hee hee.
Eileen Davidson. Whoaaaa. That was a horrific typo. Sorry guys.
@Ashleigh….I agree with you….it’s not the politics of the woman that give me pause….everyone is entitled to their own points of view in this country…..but the optics of her, not to mention her appalling brood, just make me recoil….it’s always something unsavory with them! She’s certainly not helped the conservative cause, that’s for sure!
I didn’t think I’d say anything on this because it is more political, and I like to keep away from that on MF.
But it’s all about leadership, decision-making that judges need. And big-time character which we talk about (I like to think intelligently and with respect) all the time on MF as it applies to our soap characters, and how we try to live our own lives.
It’s not just Sarah’s own challenges, and how she handles which give me pause. It’s also a very well respected presidential hopeful who “hail married” her into his campaign, never apologized for his qualification vetting process in lieu of her statements (can’t believe he buys into all of them) she has made, and …omg…in a worse possible scenario she could have been 2nd in line to make “big” decisions and press buttons!!!
I figure she needs the money and the platform. Otherwise, does she have a job/income?
And then there are the lowering-the-bar-even-more-producers of this show, and whoever will carry it if it’s a go. Ugh!
@Rose….I absolutely concur with you about the issue of politics on this website….my comments regarding them are very few and far between because I prefer soaps to be a politically-free zone, even though they tend not to be, much as I would wish. I am personally quite immersed in politics on a daily basis…constantly reading, listening, watching, and more…..I don’t need an additional source to broach or discuss this subject, and as such, I look to my hour (or usually much less…) of GH—and my time spent here at MFSoaps—as brief respites away from today’s heated atmosphere of political discord. However, my criticisms of Ms. Palin and her ill-bred family have nothing to do with politics, at least not from my perspective. I simply find them to be beyond trashy in their behavior, and as you already know from my numerous other posts, that doesn’t cut it for me. I don’t like it, and I don’t care under what political banner someone places themselves….as far as I’m concerned, there is correct and incorrect conduct, and I don’t excuse the incorrect, no matter how one tries to label or justify it. I just don’t, so any attempt to reward, publicize or glorify those who I disdain for their less than stellar track records in life incurs my wrath.
What a joke! The show is bound to fail. Why not call it Money For Nothing and B.S. For Free.
People will tune in out of curiosity but if there is nothing there, yes, your right, it will fail. One thing though, there is a fan base of all these courtroom shows that may adopt it not because of who it is or what she stands for but only because it is another option for them.
Whats next Judge Kardashian!
Timmm…too funny, dude…LOL!!!!!
There is no pilot. There is no deal for airing this. Clickbait.
