This year however, weather was not the friend of those attendees, the press, or the stars as heavy rains soaked the red carpet prior to the parade, and come parade time there were intermittent showers, and/or some drizzle.

Needless to say, umbrellas and a change of clothes were needed.  But all in all, come rain or come shine, a great time was had by all!

Days of our Lives was the big honoree for the event as a kick-off to their year long celebration marking their upcoming 50th anniversary season next year!  On hand were some your favorite Salemites including: Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Joe Mascolo, Billy Flynn, Kate Mansi, Lauren Koslow, Jen Lilley, Suzanne Rogers, Peggy McKay, Guy Wilson, Christopher Sean, Meredith Scott Lynn, Arianne Zucker, Galen Gering, Eric Martsolf, Aloma Wright, Casey Moss, True O’Brien, and Molly Burnett.

The Young and the Restless was represented by Sharon Case, Sean Carrigan, Tristan Rogers, Melissa Ordway (with her husband former DAYS star Justin Gatson), and Kate Linder, and The Bold and the Beautiful’s Rena Sofer and Sean Kanan also participated in the annual Hollywood tradition.  Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath, singer Taylor Dayne,  Kool and the Gang, Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora also stopped to pose for some pictures along the way, as well as Home and Family hosts: Christina Ferrare and Mark Steines.

The Hollywood Christmas Parade will air on television first on Wednesday, December 10th on the Hallmark Channel. The next airing will be on Friday, December 19th on The Hallmark Movie Channel.  If you live in Los Angeles, you can watch it on KTLA Channel 5 on Friday December 19th, and again on Sunday, December 21st.  And for when the parade will air in your area … click here for stations, dates, and times!    Associated Television International is once again producers of the parade telecast, and Erik Estrada and Laura McKenzie are back as the hosts with the most during the parade.

I love Deidre Hall, she is a sassy, classy lady. The woman never ages, Deidre is 67 years old wow hard to believe. She takes good care of her self. I miss Sami Brady so much. Alison Sweeney is one talented lady and actress.

Too bad they couldnt have had a contest(raising money for charity) where some fans from each soap could have won a chance to ride in the parade with their favorite stars…just a thought!!!

I am very surprised that there is no photo of Kate Linder (Esther, Y&R). Linder seems to ALWAYS be pictured at any event involving Y&R actors.

REPORT: Days of our Lives Targets September Production Restart

Looks like Salem and Days of our Lives will be back in full-swing come September, if the target date holds true as revealed today by Deadline.

According to their sources, Corday Productions, who produces the long-running NBC daytime drama, sent out an email to cast members on Thursday notifying them of their intent to resume production come September 1st.

However for this article; reps for NBC, Corday and Sony Pictures TV declined to comment.

Days of our Lives has had enough shows banked through early October of this year, so was not pressed to get back into production amidst the coronavirus pandemic as much as CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful (which went back into production a week and half ago), and The Young and the Restless and General Hospital who are targeting a mid-July restart.

All three of the shows, except for DAYS ran out of original episodes to air, back at the end of April of this year.

So, excited to hear that their may be plans ahead come fall for DAYS to come to back and tape new episodes? Comment below.

DAYS Elani Wedding (Photos): What Did You Think Of The Nuptials?

This week on Days of our Lives saw the first African-American couple to be married on-screen in the 54-year history of Days of our Lives.  Now while Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) tried before in a previous ceremony, this one did the job … they are now officially husband and wife!

The ceremony was attended by Lani’s dad, Abe Reynolds (James Reynolds), her mother Tamara Price (Marily McCoo), Billy Davis Jr.  as a former FBI mentor to Eli, Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) – it was her restaurant after all and she is Eli’s grandmother.  Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) presided over the ceremony.

There were some unwelcome guests at the ceremony as well; leading the bride to question, are we doomed?  Why does this keep happening to us everytime we tried to get hitch!

However, fate was on Lani and Eli’s side this day, as even Gabi (Camila Banus) with her antics, and a shocking arrival from Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel), couldn’t rain on this day.  Vivian even tried to shoot the bride, but thanks to Rafe (Galen Gering) saving the day and armed with news that her son Stefan (Brandon Barash) could be alive; he informs Viv firmly that she would be killing someone for the wrong reason, even though Vivian is in disbelief that her son is alive.  Next, she is whisked out of the ceremony.

Lani still feeling rattled by all the wedding interruptus gets a sign she should marry the man she loves; when her mother, who needed to go lie down earlier, as she was feeling faint, was able to show back up just in time to restart the wedding.

Broom

During the ceremony, Eli mentions the loss of little David Abraham and the struggles they went through, but how in the end it brought then closer together.  After the rings are exchanged and they are pronounced man and wife, the newlyweds “jump the broom” a wonderful tradition and a symbol of African-American heritage, where the sweeping of the broom signifies sweeping away all the bad energy.  After they sweep the broom, Elani jumps over it.

In a behind-the-scenes of the wedding segment released this week on the DOOL app, Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey talk about the inclusion of the ‘jump the broom’ moment in the episode, and how they suggested the idea to DAYS Co-EP Albert Alaar, and how  it was written into the episode.

So, what did you think of Lani and Eli’s wedding? Did you enjoy it? Let us know via the comment section below, but first check out this wedding photo gallery of the big day!

47th Annual Daytime Emmys Draws Over 3 Million Viewers For CBS Telecast with Return to Network TV

Friday night was a good night for daytime!  With its first foray back on to network television since 2011, the Daytime Emmy kudofest, while for the first time held this year virtually, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, scored very well in its timeslot.

The CBS broadcast averaged 3.1 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating.  That is way up from the last time viewers saw the award show on TV when it was on cable network POP TV back in 2015 with just over 900,000 viewers for its initial broadcast.

According to TV Insider report: The first hour of the Emmys garnered 3.3 million viewers to top the hour by edging out a rerun on ABC”s Shark Tank, and then slipped to second place for the second hour with 2.8 million viewers.

These were strong numbers for Friday night, and hopefully CBS and the other major networks will now continue this, and serve up the Daytime Emmy Awards moving forward.

The ladies of CBS’s The Talk hosted the event; each virtually from their homes, in an event filled with at-home acceptance speeches and presenters, and clip packages. The show was produced by NATAS and Associated Television International
